It's a chill vibe but it needs more bartenders for the ridiculous amount of people that are there. Overcrowded. And the karaoke setup is really outdated, you can't even hear yourself singing. That being said, it gets 4stars since it's the only karaoke place in town that does it every night of the week and the bartender makes some very tasty drinks.

What a blast! Karaoke started at 10 and it was so vibrant and encouraging- a whole little community coming together and being nonjudgmental. Drinks were tasty- especially sex on the beach. Sweet light decorations and a patio with glass windows so you can chill outside and still enjoy the performance.

Charges a cover and then overcharges for weak drinks. $3 cover + $5.50 wells in a small plastic cup is insane. Won't be coming back.

Such a good time! Went for a friends birthday and girls night out. Groups come in and out and provide great entertainment for singing and people watching. Good drinks, nice workers, and bathrooms were nice, especially for a bar! Fun atmosphere and great karaoke options.

We stopped by after dinner and was not very impressed. The bar seating was full and it was hard to get a drink. The place wasn't horribly crowded, but about half of the people there for a birthday party. The karaoke guy cut a girl off right after her song started because she she used a fake name. He wouldn't let her sing so half the bar left. It was a very awkward and uncomfortable situation. He should've just let her sing.

Worst experience of my life. The bar is the reason I don't even want to go to Broad Ripple anymore. My money is better spent elsewhere than this hole in the wall. I will forever warn anyone I know about this place. Especially with a drunk working the door.

Being from out of town, that area was recommended to us. we walked on to be demanded for our id's ( i get it) but 2 of us are in our 50's. she looked like a homeless person working the door. the bar its self was "ok". the bartender was stern/distracted. it wasnt real busy and we had to beg to get 2 and 3 rounds. the last is i feel the prices were astronomical for the type bar it is. 4.50 for a coors light? 7.00 for Jameson( 4 in group got charged for 5) The Karaoke host was awesome.. that is most likely the only reason we will return. if we do

Expect to pay a cover to get in on a weekend ($3.) Takes quite a while to get to your song in the queue. In my opinion this is really more of a summer spot, when they move karaoke outside.

The atmosphere is cool and there’s a lot of outdoor seating for the summer. But there was a cover charge, all of the drinks were served in plastic cups, and there were only two beers on tap. They also still had decorations for Marti gras up. In August.

A pretty chill bar with an eclectic mix of people. The bar staff is you notch, the drink selection isn't. Standard bar options at standard bar prices. The karaoke crowd is one of the best in the city. Everyone is great and super supportive. One of the best bars in the area.

A fantastic, all inclusive karaoke bar This place has outdoor karaoke with an incredibly varied and eclectic crowd. It is wonderfuly accepting of all walks and smiles all around. If you want to see a smile, get served a great drink, and have an overall great time; come check out Monkey's Tale!

I understand that this 70 year old man needs to work because he can't afford to retire, but why be a dick to your patrons? The staff are incredibly rude and curse you out for trivial things (like using a freaking bathroom). The mixed drinks suck and the cover is unnecessarily expensive. Karaoke or not, I would NOT recommend this horrible bar.

The only redeeming qualities about this bar are the awesome deck and that they allow you to bring your own food. Drink selection is not great. Karaoke on weeknights is sub par. Spruce this place up, ditch the karaoke, and add some TVs or a projector outside and this place could shine.

Had a great time tonight , i loved seeing so many people having fun. The only thing that was bad was my drink didnt taste right , and my friend got the same drink but hers tasted correct, to the point where i couldnt drink mine , so i asked for the bar to remake it which i know makes me "that guy" but it came back the same so i figured i was crazy lmao , and got something else that was great at the reccomendation of the bar. The only other thing is the jukebox stole a dollar lmao

I like that monkey tales has a mixed crowd and I've never seen of or heard of any violence there. All the staff are friendly and quick at making a drink!! Plus the bathrooms are clean!! They can be a little pricey on their beers but never the less, they still get 5 stars from me!!!

My friends and I were in town for a wedding and happened upon this ABSOLUTE GEM. Not only was the crowd super diverse and inclusive, everyone was nice and accepting of each other's differences. The kareoke was no joke the most talented group of random people in a bar. The bartender was lovely and helpful. The guy who runs kareoke OWNS his job. He was so nice and supportive and also a GREAT SINGER! For a Sunday night, it was really lively and fun. We had a great time.

I've been singing at The Monkey's Tale for years, and tonight the security guard called the cops on me, and had me escorted out because I was leaning back in my chair. I was told by the crotchety old man that's been taking the cover charge and "prebussing" for quite some time that "rules are rules". I've been a loyal and obedient customer dozens of times, and they've completely lost my business. I will be back to get my credit card (which they refused to return to me until the coming day) and I will not return again. There are plenty of better places to sing.

The drinks were okay, but the karaoke DJ lets his friends sing 8 times to anyone else’s 1. I do not recommend if you aren’t a local. I frequent the largest Karaoke bars in this country and I am sad that this was heralded ‘Indiana’s best’. If this is the best, karaoke is dead in this state.
