REVIEWS OF Buddy Guy's Legends IN Illinois

Abbey Tewari

The most amazing place which is historical in its own right. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a couple of songs performed by the man himself. Buddy Guy is a legend and I can't recommend enough a trip to his place. You will need to check if …

5 stars for the hospitality and live music. The food was priced right for avg food fare..you probably won't remember the food as much as the music. The server was polite and patient with our group of 9. I wish there was a way of chipping in on musicians tip on my food bill. I rarely carry cash, so couldn't toss some Bill's in the bucket.

Damian Owczarek

Ablsolutly awesome place! High recommend visiting, listing, enjoying the best music in the world. Thank you for great evening.

Amanda Lipton

Absolutely amazing, music was great, food was great, the drinks were good too. The guys at the entrance were awesome too. Will definitely be back, had a great time.

Alexandria Lee

Loved the atmosphere and history! Live music was great, friendly staff. I had the red white and blu chicken sandwich and it was amazing! Definitely recommend!

Brian Kehl

Fantastic experience! Music and atmosphere are out of this world. Buddy puts on an amazing show as do all the other talents. The food is great and the chocolate cake is the best I've ever had. Even if you're not able to see a show, go for the food and the environment, it's worth a visit for anyone who lives near the city or visiting from somewhere else.

Olav Laudy

What can you say? You are not gonna hear better blues. I liked the size and and seating arrangements of the place! It's more like you are listening to an intimate concert rather than a loud and noisy bar. I like it!

Joaquin Reyes

Good music, fun times dancing and grooving. Cold beers. What more can you ask for? Oh that's right, a lower cover charge.

Mike Riccitelli

Bucket list and loved it. Found out that I have to go back to try and take it ALL IN! Moving blues jams to always be remembered...

Alissa N

So much fun!!! Get there early if popular musician or night if you want a table.

Rudine Wilbert

Very nice. Enjoyed the singing and the guys playing. Food was good too. Overall the I really liked the atmosphere. Great!

Liliya Aronson

Maybe the expectations are to blame or the performing artist, but the acoustics was no good and the atmosphere unappealing. The place though does have a genuine feel to it. The Sears/Willis Tower view across from the empty lot outside was rather refreshing.

Bonnie Walker

Fantastic place the music was great. Food was delicious with nice portion sizes and the service was excellent. Next in town we will be visiting.

Courtney Carini

Oh man, this was exactly what we needed! We went to the Green Mill after dinner and found ourselves stuck listening to old stale white lounge music. We immediately hopped on Google to see what was playing here, and thank God it was Nellie "Tiger" Travis! The voice on this woman is incredible, and we danced, tapped, clapped, and snapped the night away. What an awesome experience! Thank you for saving us and turning our night into something awesome and unforgettable!

Mitch TheLip

Great vibe. Awesome live music and food is on point. Great cognac and good whiskey.

Luis DeSilva Marquez

Very cool place to have a dinner and to enjoy some good live music. The food is amazing and the live music is helping you with the mood. In the menu you are going to find a lot of things so if you need any help with your order just ask the staff and they will help you out.

Jim Manley

We had a great time at Buddy's Birthday Bash! The performers were wonderful and it was fantastic to have Buddy get on stage for a bit and then greet the crowd after. The free shots of Remy Martin XO were a nice treat. We also enjoyed our dinner.

Nikki Garner

What a great place- good food, atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Buddy Guy was AMAZING!! we will go back sooner rather than later!

Kenny Kiefer

What a great night out. The food was on point and the music.... Oh man was the music good! The sound in this place is perfect. I can't wait to get back to Chicago for another night of blues and a crawfish

Danielle Cartagenes

This place is so cool. Great music, delicious food and the chance to meet the legend himself. Cover charge of $20 for evenings with shows. It can get pretty crowded, so try to make it there a bit earlier. There's also an upstairs portion that has a projector, showing the show on stage as well as some pool tables.

Courtenay McKee

Went in as hoping for good... got great... excellent music and atmosphere.

Richard and Nancy Austermann

We went to the acoustic set at 5:30 and it was great. Not too crowded, great food, great music. The jambalaya was excellent!

Ariel Flores

Costumer service and attention got an A. A very good ambience and music. I went for a dinner on a random night, with Ross Green and his band performing some Chicago Blues the right way. But before the show has started, my wife and I had the opportunity to meet and have a photo with Mr. Buddy Guy himself. We were enjoying the show and having our dinner and all of a sudden the legend come into the stage. Buddy start performing with Ross Green for a 15 minutes round was just the cherry on top of the pie. If you like the Blues, then this place is the right spot to spend with family and friends, while enjoying some of the best Blues in sweet home Chicago town.

Siddharth Sood

5 star to see buddy guy on the first time we visited this place. Unfortunately they were full.

carlos londono

What a cool place!! great people serving and attending. Had awesome friends and we all were entertained unexpectedly by Buddy. thank you

Michael Reed

Great atmosphere for live band, good southern food, and just a good time overall. Buddy Guy the Legend is a down to earth man. What a great Legacy.

Jeremy Simms

Awesome to see live music every night. I enjoyed the atmosphere.

Kara Miles

Fantastic live music! Headliner Mike Wheeler band was amazing! Other acts were very good too. Great surprise to have Buddy Guy himself pop on stage and sing some. He killed it! Definitely recommend spending some time here when in Chicago.

Melissa Holland

This place was absolutely awesome. Fantastic music, friendly staff, and free pour cocktails.

TerryLee WHETSTONe

Top tasting food, great atmosphere, wonderful people working there. A blace worth going out of your way to stop at. The extra treat is top Blues music on stage while you take it all in.

Gavin Black

What a place! Sunday afternoon, snow outside and a wonderful blues musician. Cold beer and good food and great music. Had to leave to catch a flight home but could have stayed all afternoon. The whole vibe was wonderful. So welcoming. And the service was attentive and friendly. A highlight of our month long journey through the U.S.

Paul Turzio

Good venue off the path. Food is basic but live music is ALWAYS good.

gwen whitaker

Very laid back casual Blue's Club. It was Saturday night and we had been all afternoon wearing sneakers. Wasn't sure weather they would let us in dressed that way. They did and the place was packed we were seated at the bar because we didn't want to share a table. We had such a good time we stayed for two different acts. It was a little pass one AM when the second set ended. The band said stick around for another set. But out had been long day we left. Buddy Guy's great for live up close music with drinks bar food and dancing.

Betsy Greene

Really enjoy this place. Always live music. Friendly staff.

Brian Bricker

Great venue, Jose Ramirez's band was fantastic. We were treated to Buddy Guy for 3 songs. Food and drinks were good and affordable. Staff excellent.

Susan Snider

My husband and I often share meals, and our visit to Buddy Guy's was no different. We shared a large blackened catfish dinner with rice and collard greens. It was delicious! The live music was good, the vibe was relaxed and friendly, and service was friendly but not intrusive. Thumbs up!

Alla Obikhod

Awesome musicians! Such a great, friendly atmosphere and cocktails were delicious!

Chris

Mildy disappointing. The vibe could be better, lots of "rules." Staff not that friendly. Did not eat so can't comment on the food.

S Rakowski

Amazing guest singer... Got lucky with a chair. Go early if you want to sit!

Rosenfeld Walter

went here ~15 years ago, Buddy Guys is still going strong and keeping the blues alive. Small, intimate venue serving soul food - a must-go-to for any visit to Chicago!!

Rob Sullivan

Good musicians, and Buddy Guy himself is one of the best in the world, but the place has something of a sterile, corporate feel.

Michael Aupperle

Of course there is music, "Chicago Blues" style blues jazz. Live acoustic when I arrived at 4pm in the afternoon. The food, was as expected.... The fried oysters I ordered were quite over cooked. So ok. Overall I appreciate the ambience, and the music was great. They have wonderful daily/weekly music line ups. Beer was cold, and intoxicating, so overall great experience.

Bob-O Walesa

Without a doubt, Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago is the premier Blues Club in the world. A heavy boast, but where else will you see the man himself hopping onstage with the evening's band, belt out a few numbers and share a few fascinating stories of his storied career ??? The club features a who's who of LIVE MUSIC talent seven days a week including a dinner set where patrons can enjoy some of the finest Louisiana cuisine to be found in the Windy City. Coupled with a family friendly atmosphere and walls lined with Blues History and treasures, a visit to Buddy Guy's Legends should be a number one priority when visiting Chicago !!!!

Scott McClannahan

Great experience and music but the staff needs to get a grip. It was a Wednesday night and we tried to put too many people at a four top and the bouncer had a cow! Do you want our business or not?

philip claasen

Owned by Buddy Guy, simply one of the greatest blues artists of all time. I was truly honoured.

Dakota Rhine

Loved the music and atmosphere. I was not a fan of the guy in the bathroom asking for tips for giving me soap and a paper towel.

Rosalina Saunders

Fantastic food and great service! Buddy Guy's offers a really nice atmosphere. Serving size was very generous and the wait staff was fantastic. They seemed to work as a team which was nice to see. The okra was probably my favorite part of the dish.

Jeremy Pullin

What a place. The food was great, the music was fantastic and the memorabilia around the place was incredible. A great place to chill and spend a few hours. For me this place was a real highlight of any visit to Chicago. Go there if you're in town.

Todd Longfield

Lunch was great. Service was amazing. Live blues was great also. Went on 7/13. Banks was last name of performer, wishni knew his 1st name. He was really good

Eric Martz

Wow! What an experience. In Chicago for a couple days and just happened on this place. Music was amazing, food was fantastic (I had the gumbo). Service was also amazing. I highly recommend you try Buddy Guy's Legends.

Sancho Loco

Very nice place, incredible musicians. There is a 10$ fee to enter the place. We arrived an hour before the show started to make sure we would have a place, because we did not buy our tickets online. Alcohol is cheaper than other bars we visited. We stayed there until 1am. Place was packed. Good memories of a place visited by so many legendary musicians. Highly recommended it! Enjoy the show and the dance floor :)

Sally Ragusa

This legendary guitarist owns a iconic restaurant and live music venue in Chicago. A must see location. Great food and amazing live music

Jones Reece

Music lovers of Blues Chicago has it all. THE BUDDY GUY from the staff at the cashier to all mangers of this place friendly invites you come in to look around take photos. Lunch time a live musician performing free while one's eating. Nice every nice.

Alexis Archambeau

Coolest place in south loop! Will definitely be bringing anyone that visits me here! Such an amazing atmosphere, great music, and delicious food!

Joseph Mitchell

Had a great time, thought it was kind tacky that I was charged 25 bucks for a photo with Buddy Guy that I took with my own cam6

Carlos Russell

Listening to the best Chicago blues and the man himself - Buddy Guy is such a legend. Good food and drinks!

Christopher Donahue

Really great spot with amazing authentic blues music. The place is really owned by Buddy and you never know when he will just show up at the bar! Super cool stuff memorabilia one the walls, a very historic place. The food is great too with constant smells tempting you for a snack. The music is always lively and the performers are always so nice and fun. Cant wait till I live across the street!

John Williams

Service was great! The chicken sandwich was horrible. Completely dried out.

Arlena Vaughn-Smith

The atmosphere is fabulous. Food is good. Just don't order the sweet tea because its unsweetened. Lol. Service was great and entertainment was very good. Make sure to check this place out.

Phil

Buddy Guy's is an institution. Visited 3 other jazz venues in the city and this was by far my favorite. Huge space and we'll priced drinks. We didn't eat anything though many people were enjoying food. Had an awesome time and will most definitely be going back.

Jeremiah S

I stopped in here after a big meal, so I didn't order any food. The place was packed, so it was hard to find a seat, but the staff were helpful in finding a place for my friend & I to sit, order something to drink, & watch the performers. I could listen to blues all day, and the duet performing during dinner hours (I didn't catch their names, unfortunately) were a pleasure to listen to. Plenty of memorabilia-- I felt like a kid in a candy store looking at all the autographed guitars! I intend to hit this place again the next time I'm in town. I'll try to order some food next time and amend this review accordingly. But my initial impressions were pretty positive.

Michael McGovern

The ambience was great, and we sat at a table with 2 very friendly tourists like us. The food was good. But the service from the staff was way too sloppy. Mistakes, not listening, practically throwing plates at us, seriously. I would have said 3 stars...but on the way out I learned that Mr. Buddy Guy himself is typically right there mingling with the customers whenever he can....now that is cool. Maybe next time I will see him.

Christina Battle

Decent band tonight, bar service was okay, front door staff was very welcoming.

Ghostrider

The original Legends was the best. 754 S. Wabash. I lived in that place. And actually got to play there by sitting in with musicians. Those were good days. The new facility is nice....only been there once. Plan on going again just harder now because I don't live in the city anymore. Have met Buddy Guy many times and signed some nice Blues literature for me....

Brad Kamcheff

Great music is to be expected but the food and service was top shelf too.

Bernardo Carvalho

Legendary blues club owned by the legendary blues man Buddy Guy. Nice ambiance filled with photos of blues legends and guitars hanging on the wall, signed by legendary guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Robert Cray. Good selection of beer, including some local ones, and great southern food. Great service as well. To add a cherry on the cake, Buddy Guy himself stops by every once in a while, signs t-shirts and CDs that you can buy at the counter and even takes pictures with fans and sings a couple of songs with the house band. He is really living up the promise of keeping the blues alive!

Vitali Muhin

Great bar. Great music. Had to stand as it was super busy... Recommend to come earlier so you can get a table...

Kimberly Passehl

Sunday Blues Brunch was fantastic. Great music. Good food and drinks. Fun times.

Nicolas Cousineau

Great music, great beer. The fact that you need to stand up and still pay full price is a bit weird. Also, personal a bit rude. Other than this, would recommend because of the artists performance are truly, legendary.

Mae Koen

This is the place to go if you wanna here some good quality Blues. Get there early tho cause it is easily standing room only. You can do dinner there too, Louisiana style menu choices and the food is really good. Entertainment 7 days a week. I highly recommend.

Jenell Green

Nice place, friendly staff, nice music. The food was good as well! This band appears the 4th Sunday-love their sound and vibe!

Pat Freeman

Great food, great entertainment, very clean and comfortable with excellent, conscious service.

Lisa Henderson

My mom and I were in Sunday early evening. The service was fast & accurate, the food was fantastic and more than we could finish as hard as we tried. The lady at the door helped me select an album to take home for my husband. It was the perfect one, thank you so much for your time! If I ever get back to Chicago, I'll be back with more friends.

juan pablo paredes

If you love blues... you need to come here ..nice place and awesome experience... you can meet the legendary Buddy Guy ...

r herrold

Found by chance with warm-up act Eric Hendricks showing off several guitar styles ... Finger picking, strumming chords, more. A great depth of awareness of the history of his craft. Sadly no CD of his performance available The main act was Jimmy Johnson. All I can say is: to he left the house howling for more. _Then_ Buddy Guy provided vocals and narrative, which pulled the crowd out on to the dance floor All that before the intermission A wonderful evening

a Moore

Okay can not say nothing bad about this place. Great music. Great food. Staff is great.

Karen Chapman

Get a taste of local talent and food. It’s a nice place to enjoy a night out and have a drink. People there are super nice and the food is really good, specially the corn bread. Drinks are a bit too strong but tasty. The best part of this place has to be the music.

Thumper Texoma

Cool live music venue. It was really crowded but after about an hour and a half we were finally able to get a table. As expected in a club like this the drinks are a little expensive. A margarita and a beer were $15. That is about what we expected. A shot of tequila was $9. Thought that was a tad high. All in all a great place to visit in Chicago.
