Our beerz (wich they wer out of tha 1st 3 we ordrd), took 15 min 2 reach r tbl. They wernt bizy at all eithr. Tha servr wuz vry nice, but slo. $70 for 3 terribl apps & 4 beerz? Wuta ripoff. Tha only reazn I r8d em 2 starz, iz cuz tha atmospher & patio. Plenty of betr places in maui tho

Sat there at the table and order was taken but we never received our drinks. Upon asking for the drinks 20 minutes after sitting there I was told they forgot. We decided to chose a different venue. The waiter told us to chill it wasn’t a big deal it was just drinks. Then went over to tell the bartender watch there call the manager and complain. Horrible experience especially since we are on our Honeymoon! Truly disappointed was looking forward to enjoying some good food based off previous reviews!

The place is pricy but the food is good. Highly recommend going during happy hour if you can for the deals. Beware the "pretty" waitresses. They seemed to have been hired for their looks first and their attitude second. The other servers were polite and friendly. The bar lost our drink order though and we didn't get them until after the kitchen had delivered. Our waitress - who was still in training none the less - had to go back and track down the lost order and get things sorted out.

Showed up with 12 people unannounced. They made room for us fairly quick. Was a little worried about the atmosphere because it was a bar but it is a very family friendly place with great food. Super service.

The restaurant has a nice view, but that’s about it. The service was slow and we had to ask the staff multiple times to get water refills. When the food finally came, it was mediocre. The staff seem overworked and spread too thin. The restaurant wasn’t particularly crowded either when we came.

This is a great spot to watch the sunset over the ocean while you're eating dinner. I highly recommend getting reservations. They have a happy hour from 3 till 6 and from 9 till 11 I believe.

Delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner! This is our new favorite restaurant in town (we've eaten there 3 times this week). They also have a great happy hour -- I recommend trying their nachos with chicken, they are huge and scrumptious! The ocean view is also gorgeous.

The worst service I could ever imagine They made hundreds of mistakes, didn’t apologize, we call for a manager, bartender came to fix all mistakes ( because they tried to over charge us ) . She never apologized, was rude. It took like 40 minutes to get a check, even though the place wasn’t crowded, And now I understand why!!

We had a friendly waiter named Shane G. Shane was quick to get or drink order and timely with dinner order. I had blackened tacos, side of onion rings, and a beer.. Cost 33.00 approx with the tip at 18%. My friends got the Maui Burger and they said they loved it. All and all service was good and food taste very good. I would go back. We did eat after happy hour was over and the outside upstairs patio was full of people.

Mmmmmm! So good. The nachos are delicious and a great portion (recommend adding the pulled pork) and the fish tacos were good. Great view of the ocean from the patio. Sad to be leaving but what a great last dinner before leaving Maui.

Thursday night Salsa is great. DJ plays a mix of salsa, batchata, merengue, and reggaeton. Decent sized dance floor, nice light and video show, complimentary water. What more can you ask for? Starts at 10. Visit Threes, next door, for a live music warmup at 8.

Cool vibe, and probably good drinks, but the food was mediocre at best. What was advertised as fried chicken in the Lava Trio was the chicken strips from the kids menu. The calamari appetizer came at the same time as the main course, but we did have time to eat it since dipping sauce for the chicken and shrimp took an extra five minutes. The poke in the luau bowls was warm and poorly executed, likely due to being plated next to hot pork. When it came time to pay, we received the wrong check. To top it off, the elevator then didn't work and, although the hostess was prompt about saying the manager needed to know, she did not offer any apology or customer service. Three Bar and Grill, which is next door, had a 90 minute wait for a table of 6 which is why we gave the immediately available Lava Rock a chance. I wish we'd waited.

Came on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Food was fine but service was slow. It wasn't particularly busy, and the server was polite and seemed to be trying her best, but everything just took a little longer. Waited maybe 10 minutes to get water. Had to get her attention for refills and more coffee. Food took a little over 30 mins to come out from the time we ordered. Not exactly my favorite breakfast spot on Maui.

Typical bar fare. Had the Jalapeno Poppers and they were premade apps - nothing special. The half off apps menu was large and good. Ranch dressing was kind of watery. My kids loved the chicken wings. Sat outside on the sun deck...nice atmosphere!

This was a rough experience for our first time. Seated right away, then waited as multiple waitresses would look at us then turned away. Sat for 20 minutes, finally got up and went to the bar to get my own drinks. View is nice, place has a cool vibe but dont expect anything more typical bar food. Disappointing...

Food was good for Maui, service was slow we had a reserved tables for a birthday party. Then they shut down the pool tables 20 minutes early for a bridal party so we decided to leave at that point and explore the other spots in the triangle. The triangle is a place in kihei where there are multiple restaurants but mainly fun different bars.

Nice bar & grill in shopping cebter by rainbow mall in Kihei. Easy to get a table. Good views. Food was okay. Husband had to send back ribs as they were so overcooked they could not be cut or even bite into. Should fall off the bone. Jalepeno poppers were also over deep fried. They ran out of sesame crusted ahi. I had fresh white snapper. The food was just okay. A bit over priced but our server was accomodating.

Was expecting the best happy hour in Kihei, left a little disappointed. The price was right, and the service was good, but the food needs work. I'd recommend trying other places for happy hour. It looks like a great night spot to have a few drinks and play some pool.

I like the lava rock because it is kind of a sports bar and then an outside area that is more like a mid to find dining area. The outside area is open air. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The inside again is like a sports bar more dark big screen TVs and all that jazz. The food is good and reasonable priced! The local people get a discount. Definitely worth checking out

Had a great dinner here during happy hour. Beautiful ocean views on their large patio and everything we ordered was so delicious! We got the chicken quesadilla, nachos, calamari, and coconut shrimp (my favorite!) The Mai Thais were strong and yummy and service was quick. Can't wait to try out more items on the menu!

I had the Luau Bowl and Lori had the Fish Tacos. With Mai Tais of course! We just missed the happy hour, but that's not always a bad thing. We've noticed that a lot of bars skimp on the booze during happy hour - go figure. Anyway our drinks were great! Among the pricier in Kihei, but I'd say worth it. We both really enjoyed our meals. I'd never had poke before, and it was included in the bowl I had, which was very delicious. The service was really friendly, and even though it wasn't super fast I thought the wait was reasonable. The ambience is nice, and if you get there in time for sunset you'll get a great view through the palm trees. This place is definitely worth going back to!

Awful experience. The waitress was really unfriendly and miserable. Food wasn’t very good at all. Ordered the calamari and it was so overdone it was like eating a rubber band that was deep fried, we had to send it back. My mom, dad and brother ordered the fish and chips and my mom only got 2 tiny little pieces. The table next to us, a guy ordered the same thing and they brought him extra fish saying that they ran short! And we ordered before him and my mom didn’t get any extra fish. I don’t think they like tourist that much, and definitely cater to the locals more. Never coming back ever.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The poor bartenders were stuck taking care of the entire place on football Sunday. Their manager should be ashamed. We waited more than ten minutes just to be acknowledged when we walked in, which should have been a red flag, but it was the only place to watch the game. The food that we were actually able to get was terrible, the drinks were impossibly slow, the place was dirty, the bathrooms were disgusting, and we were completely ignored for a good 30 minutes. I don’t blame the servers, but their manager deserves disciplinary action.

I almost missed this restaurant. I actually found it by accident because the one downstairs had a 45 minute wait. I am so glad that we went here the food was awesome. I had the no meat sausage entree and it was delicious love the vegetables love the way the fake meat was cooked it's a great restaurant for vegetarians! my friend had the French onion soup and said it was delicious as her appetizer and for her main meal got a poke bowl and loved it. the thing that is killer is the view!!! Great place to be able to watch the sunset. they have a huge bar and pool tables that are inside the building and the outside patio area is where you can watch the sunset. I'm guessing it's a really hopping place on the weekend because they have a huge dance floor DJ booth speakers etc in and around the bar area. I was worried it was just going to be bar food but the menu is really great and the food was delicious. there's an elevator to get to the second floor or stairs. the wait staff was a little slow because there were quite a few people that all showed up at the same time. at the same time the wait staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu and had a great attitude!!! I recommend this place for anybody who wants good poke bowls vegetarian meal or their specialty steak. it's actually cooked and then brought to you to finish cooking on a lava rock. hence the name lava rock. Enjoy!

I always like looking for new places to eat and when I heard about Lava Rock’s has a great happy hour so I came here with a friend to try it out. $4 mai tais and other drink specials, half off appetizers, and the burgers are 20% off. And that’s burgers WITH fries. The mai tai was well made and wasn’t watered down like most places would do. For the app, I tried the sesame crusted ahi which was ordered by my friend who I was having dinner with. The ahi was tender and the seasoning was great. It came with an aioli and shoyu and out of the 2, I liked dipping the ahi in the shoyu. For dinner I had the Hawaiian burger. This isn’t like your average Hawaiian burger with a pineapple ring and sweet teriyaki sauce, this had a mango salsa and the teriyaki sauce wasn’t overpowering. It also had Swiss cheese, red onion, and a slaw on the bottom. The burger was a good size and juicy with a wonderful seasoning that I tasted on a part of the patty that didn’t have sauce. The fries came out nice and hot with the only criticism being to lighten up on the salt just a bit. Overall, I was happy with my experience at Lava Rock and would definitely come back here for happy hour and even for breakfast in the future as their breakfast menu looked good as well. The staff are friendly and happy to help you.

I am a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. Got stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes because I could not get any of the buttons to work and there is even a sign above the buttons that says do not hit the buttons hard because you will get stuck for up to 30 minutes. This is a known problem and they haven't done anything about it. I've never not been able to press a button for an elevator. I had someone able-bodied to go get the manager after I called and ask for him to come downstairs twice and waited another 15 minutes on him and he still hasn't come down. He showed me that he could get it to work and said he was sorry but did not seem like he cared whatsoever and I'm sure they're going to do nothing about it. I understand why this place seemed empty and the place next to it has a 25-minute wait. Guess where we went!

Service was absolutely lacking. I had to go to the bar, to get water for the table, after waiting 10 minutes. Waitress forgot beverage order, 3 times. Had to go to the bar to grab the round of drinks that were ordered. And the tip of the iceberg, had the nerve to ask us to hurry up because we were sitting on the dance floor. Will NEVER be back here, bring friends here....sad sad sad experience!!!!

Went for breakfast; I’m picky on my eggs Benedict, but the ‘Hawaiian Eggs Benedict” was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Our table just about ate ourselves into a coma since the food was so delicious (definitely try the Lava Mary!). The service was top notch, food was delicious, & the view was amazing.

Excellent happy hour! Food is very high quality for the offering. If you’re lucky they will still have some empanadas left. The poke nachos and the kalua pork quesadilla are outstanding. Nice upstairs venue overlooking a park and the ocean.

Good spot. Nice views on the patio. Pool tables, TVs for sports. My biggest compliments go to our server Joseph who very attentive and was able to anticipate our needs. He even overheard my wife make a comment about her drink being too strong and he quickly came over offering to make amends. When we finished our wings, before we could even ask, he dropped sani-wipes for our sticky hands on the table. Food was excellent.

The place was fun for nightlife and the food was ok but the servers and bartenders were rude to us for some reason. We seemed to be a burden to them. The bartender (blonde lady) took my dad's change from the drink he ordered and stuck it in the tip jar before he even had a chance to tip her. The African American girl (didn't catch her name either) was rude to us when we were trying to figure out the check. Not a smile from her. The next day we went for lunch, hoping for a better experience, and server got an attitude when we asked her to split the check. She said, "you should've told us that before". The place wasn't busy or anything. The servers name was Alba.

We really wanted to love this place. The view is good, Lava Rock Mai Tai was fantastic but the service was very slow. We ordered 2 appetizers, Appetizer 1 (calamari) arrived 30 minutes after order and was so over done we refused it. Appetizer 2 (lobster spinach dip) arrived 45 minutes after order, since we had to leave we had to have it boxed up before we could try it. Vacation time is precious so I can't recommend anyone waste theirs here.

Really good service (I also went during a slow time). You have a wonderful view and a huge lanai to sit out on while you eat. The inside is more like a sports bar and has pool tables. I got the loco moco with kalua pork and it was delicious! My husband got the fruit crepe and it was huge! Burrito sized huge. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in maui. Their kalua pork is excellent.

I mean I guess you can have fun here if your a local, and watch out for the bartenders some will charge you more if they think you're a tourist I was given 3 different prices for the same drink. Also the music felt like it was all over the place I nicknamed him DJ ADHD. What made this place fun was the super outgoing people unfortunately they aren't part of the establishment.

Food here is fantastic. Large portions at reasonable prices, well prepared and flavorful. The staff and servers are always friendly and helpful. Food arrived hot and on time and drinks were cold and well made. There is a view of the beach from one side of the outdoor deck and a view of the mountain from the other. Recommend the lava mary and breakfast burrito.

I cant rate the food because we didnt stay long enough to eat. Wanted to watch the NCAA game this afternoon and have lunch and dribks. We googled that this was one of 3 sports bars in town. Walked in and was told by the bartender that we needed to wait to be seated. There were only about 7 tables with people. So we waited to be seated... and we waited and we waited. The host was talking to some people in the back playing pool. And we waited more. Finally he came and seated us. The restaurant wasnt very busy and we got a table. Then we waited some more... and waited some more. The waiter passed us about 3 times without even an acknowledgement. You would think they would at least get a drink order going for is. Finally we got tired of waiting and left. Passed the waiter and host on the way out and they still never even bothered to acknowledge us or ask us why we were leaving. Im not sure if they just didnt care or are just poorly trained. They certainly were not busy. Will not bother to go back ...which is too bad because we really wanted to try dinner there. Ended up at Moose McGillycuddys. Fast service, good food and 100% better experience.
