The folks that run the place are very friendly and knowledgeable. The little town just east of the Jump 2.5 miles looks interesting and has a nice place to eat.

Kyboubon Rockhound

They were nice but it's just a hole the Indians headed buffalo into

Kevin VanEvery

It was closed when I went, but this is a fine roadside attraction. I went by msyelf. It has a small gift shop and a cool museum tipi. The sinkhole itself is still clearly visible and the signage is fun and informative. Only about 12 minutes out of the way on I-90.

John Moffitt

Nice bit of history, well told and adjacent to the interstate.

Katie was a great tour guide! Very interesting piece of history. Our kids learned a lot.

We arrived at the Vore Buffalo Jump, and it was deserted. Only we did not discover this until AFTER making a donation and walking down to the bottom of the sinkhole. They say it's an archaelogical site. Perhaps it is. Or perhaps there's just some guy down there in the shack with the door locked, sitting in a recliner, drinking a beer, and watching WWF. We'll never know. The considerate thing to do would have been to post a sign saying that the site was closed. Way to go, Vore Buffalo Jump Foundation, you certainly buffaloed us out of twenty bucks.

Unfortunately, none of the buildings were open on a Saturday morning at 11:30 am. That aside, this is a great place to stop with little ones. You can dig for fossils and arrow heads in a sandbox area. We found 10 arrowheads in less than 20 minutes of digging. Children under the age of 13 are allowed to keep one souvenir arrowhead.

Liz Fielder

Everyone needs to take the tour. Extremely educational. Of course my granddaughter is the best tour...just ask for Andrea.

Sue Hathaway

This is a interesting place to visit. Was sad the museum at the bottom was closed. My brother told me it was really neat to see all the arrow heads and things they've found.

Our family had a great time here! Quiet and was closed up when we showed up but the kids had a blast running up and down the path and "digging up bones" at the top :)

Hard to give a good review when they were closed with no explanation in the middle of a non-holiday. BUT, even if the sites closed you can walk to the bottom of the sinkhole and read plaques along the way. That makes this a cool little free stop just off the highway.

Excellent place to stop to see some very interesting things and learn a lot. Very unique experience! Staff was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Shelby, our tour guide was probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had at a site like this! She deserves a raise! Lol! I would recommend to anyone. Well worth the nominal fee of admission and worth an hour of your time!

Jim Pahl

Mrs Katy is the best guide we've every had! Very knowledgable and funny as ever. Mrs. Shelbey is smart as a whip! Awesome history and learning to throw with an Atlatl! Life's dream come true with a great teacher. Must see!

Larry Magar

Right off the highway, very informative and well worth the stop.

This isn't a large attraction, and the price isn't terribly cheap, but the guides are knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. There's a somewhat steep descent into the bottom of the Jump, which is where you'll see the main display. Bit of a workout getting back up! Well worth a stop if you have time - it's such a unique part of history, and the only Jump I've heard of that allows you to explore the bottom.

Interesting area. Place wasn't open saturday evening when I stopped by- wish it had been. I really wanted to get inside the buildings and see what they had to offer. The jump though was interesting enough in itself, and there were informative signs as you walked about the area. You can even walk down inside the jump on a small paved road. Cool spot. Would like to come back when open.

Well worth the stop. My husband and I visited with our two dogs and we were immediately welcomed. Shelby was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Learned many interesting things and even bought cute souvenirs. I would definitely recommend Vore Buffalo Jump to anyone passing through. Non profit, but extremely well maintained and staff is above and beyond the call of friendly and caring. They really care about the size and the history. Thanks to Katy, too. You all rock! Jenn, Larry, Emily and Charlee.

This is such an interesting and unique site. Situated right on a major interstate freeway, thousands of people drive by it daily and are unaware of the history and educational opportunity. Stop by, well worth it!

Initially, Vore Buffalo Jump might not seem like much but I strongly recommend taking the time to stop and appreciate the culture and history that you will find here. This “Buffalo Jump” is one of the few archeologically-recognized sites that still exist but hundreds of years ago there would have been cliffs, depressions, etc. all over that the natives would make use of in their struggle to survive by making good use of every aspect of all bison that were killed. I am not sure how long the Vore site has been under development for tourism but it is a small site that appears to still need quite a bit of interpretive development in order to really attract a larger number of tourists. While no one was around when we visited, it appears that donations are accepted. If you are not familiar with this kind of historical and cultural site, there is also a much larger and impressive ‘Buffalo Jump’ in Alberta, Canada called ‘Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump’, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Let us hope that the Vore site gets more attention and perhaps one day will also be a UNESCO site. Overall, this is a really cool place and I strongly recommend taking the time to visit!

Richard Tippie

Worth the time.

David Moakes

Although closed for the winter it was clear to see what happened there over centuries to enable Native Americans to stock up for winter.

Theo Carr

I had an unforgettable experience here. The site is rich with both the natural and cultural history that reflect the land around it, making this an ideal roadtrip stop. You can find out about the geology of the area in the buffalo jump sinkhole, and about the peoples of the area by taking the tour and learning to throw spears using the atl-atls. The tour I went on was descriptive and given by a well informed guide.

Informative stop, friendly staff. Worth you time to journey back in history.

Very informative. I never heard of a buffalo jump before. The office was closed for the season. The site does have info posted on site. Also there is a Wyoming information center nearby that gives excellent information about the jump.

Victoria Anglin

This place is very interesting if you like history.

Jared Almandinger

Showed up expecting a quick in and out, and was totally blown away by the experience. Mr. Vore, one of the owners of the place, quickly approached us and showed us around the fossils, spear throwing, and the arrowheads. Awesome experience!

Cory Cameron

Fascinating archeology site. Sinkhole formed and Indians drove the buffalo off the edge to harvest them. On site guides are knowledgeable and personable. You probably won't spend hours here, but it is definetly worth seeing.

Charles Bennett

A great site. Very cool to see and has gotten better every time I've stopped.

Tom Brinkman

...Respectfully, it is a hole where early American Native people drove buffalo into the last flight of the day.

Patricia Strunk

Interesting history of Indian hunting techniques and buffalo bones.

Very interesting to learn about the history on how the Indian tribes used this sink hole. We had a great tour guide, well worth the stop.

I liked this gave some history of the buffalo and get to see the dif being done. Has a very small gift shop and I think the funds go to help the dig, but not 100% sure. I also enjoyed it because it gave me a chance to stretch my legs out and get the dog out of the car.
