The museum is great and the grounds are wonderful. We spent se6hours wondering through the museum and toured the house and cabin. Afterwards we had a little picnic lunch on a bench on the grounds with incredible views. We will return on a weekend to see the leather craftsman that has a shop there.

Mike Knebel

Cool museum & great food.

The Brinton Museum offers a panoply of natural observations, and cultural artifacts, in a very special setting. Presenting a “big city museum” experience, without the distractions. The ranch at the base of the Bighorns, offers a glimpse into the gentrified world of remittance life, in the early settlement era. Period art collections are displayed in the preserved living quarters, and in rotating exhibits at the museum.

We visited your outstanding museum yesterday for the first time. Every single gallery was marvelous! The building it's self is a work of art. We live close by in Story, WY. and were frequent visitors to the original gallery and ranch house, taking many house guests there when they stayed with us. My husband and I have now become members as we know we will be making frequent trips to this magnificent museum. We had lunch in your Bistro which was delightful, even though smoke from wildfires (outside of our state) somewhat obscured the panoramic views of the Big Horns. Our kudos, for a job well done! One small suggestion I might make is concerning the information signage in the Native American Artifacts gallery. As we and our guests are all in our mid 60's to 70's, we had problems reading the signage when it was placed at the bottom of the display cases near the ground. Many "Senior Citizens" have bi- or tri-focal lenses that makes it difficult to read far away print, and for many of us, kneeling down to be able to read is not an option. Just thought I'd mention it! Again, thank you for this amazing museum!

Must see if your in Sheridan, in the museum you will find fantastically preserved Indian clothing, war and horse dress, headdresses, etc. There is a great depiction of Custer's last stand. Tour the 1860s house and check out the man cave (Little Goose Creek Lodge) that sits along side Little Goose Creek.

We had no idea this museum existed until relatives gave us the tour. We were blown away at the quality and quantity of Western art, and the stories it all told. Beautifully presented in a state-of-the-art facility in setting second-to-none in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains. Make a point of visiting...you'll be amazed. Oh, and the third-floor Bistro serves a wonderful 5-star meal. Enjoy!

Just don't leave Sheridan/Buffalo without a trip to the Brinton. That's really all you need to know.

Eric Dyess

A beautiful museum located in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains, in the Sheridan and Big Horn, Wyoming area. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because half the exhibits we're closed and there was no notice on their website warning if this before hand. Also, the historic mansion wasn't properly staffed with enough personnel to allow us to visit it without a significant waiting period between tours. Still, all in all, a terrific museum with an exceptional Native American collection.

The Brinton Museum is a world class museum, tucked away in a beautiful space. The Indigenous People of North America are finally getting some recognition, and The Brinton is helping to tell their stories. In addition to providing high level achievements from a very broad perspective, this institution supports our local community. The pride in the eyes of a 5th grade student, whose art is displayed before hundreds of people, is an invaluable experience for all!

Cool Place to check out some nativeness.

The museam is wonderful for Wyoming. I am a local artist and writer and look forward to more visits there. Being that I worked at the Cleveland Museam Of Art, I am rather spoiled. The museam has lost two stars for me because main staff was not friendly. Also, I was treated rudely by the gift shop clerk for asking if there was a discount for being a Wyoming native. ( there should be since we are not tourists and actually live here).

One of the most breathtaking scenes in Wyoming. The place is wonderful and full of art and history. Everyone should go at least once in their lives.

Freakin' Awesome

Words cannot describe how beautiful this venue is. The views are breathtaking. The tent area is fully paved with concrete and properly maintained to look nice and function well. But none of that matters if it's not a good experience. The staff at Brinton Museum understands this, and works diligently behind the scenes to make sure it all comes together perfectly. When I arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon Andrew had already been hard at work for a while. When I encounter a problem with the power, he got a distribution block ready for me and gave me my own circuit to run off of. No complaints, just swift action in a timely manner in order to keep things running smoothly. When I was done packing up at 1am and driving away Andrew was still hard at work cleaning up and re-setting the venue. 5 stars for the view, 5 stars for the staff, and 5 stars for the overall experience. Thanks guys, I can't wait to work here again!

I think I expected more; not sure why these people wanted to show others how they lived.

Suzanne Purtee

The setting is breathtaking, the building is beautifully constructed. Not large, and a good selection of art, especially their fall show (new Western this year). Native American exhibit is excellent. The cafe has large windows overlooking the mountains, and the menu is creative, well chosen, and amazing, while not overpriced.. Think carrot bisque, a good burger, or braised Romaine.

Pat Howe

Thank you to the Brinton family for sharing such wonderful treasures with the public. Well worth the trip

Michalle Evers

Lovely museum that offers very reasonable Sunday elegant brunch. Gorgeous views inside and out!

Two of the key exhibits were in transition. They lowered the price but I was disappointed.

Steven Price

This is a great museum of art and Native American artifacts. They have some beautiful war bonnets with pictures of the individuals wearing them. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant to stroll around.

Ron Wild

This is an amazing site for a Museum. It is out of the way, but so worth the journey. They have done an excellent job of showcasing the exhibits and the environment is relaxing, which is perfect for a day at a Museum. The Big Horn mountains stand as silent guardians with the Museum nestled in their foothills. Worth the trip and the time spent.
