I participated in a wedding here, and the location is very "Lander-esque." The property was easy to navigate, and the venue allowed decorations and full access on the day-of the wedding for a DIY event. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were many little buildings and houses on the property, but the venue did not offer one to the bride to get ready in. She had to pull up in a vehicle and hide before the service. If you are thinking of having a wedding here, I would negotiate this aspect.

The museum has several outside structures that are authentic. They where transported to the area so that people could enjoy them. When the main part of the museum is open it has a huge exhibit to walk through. I frequent the outside portion as a photographer, many of my clients enjoy the old western background.

Very authentic and historical. A great representation of days of the pioneers that settled the old west. A gem for Lander and largely manned by volunteers. We were also able to attend the free performance of the native American dancers. It was very inspiring to witness this cultural performance. It was narrated and each was explained as it pertained to the particular dance. The audience wannabes dancers were encouraged to participate in a dance contest and several prizes were awarded. The final social dance was interactive and engaging. I highly recommend this site!

Everything's quite hands on here. They regularly refurbish and repaint the buildings. Basically your model Wild West town, minus the bank and the jail. The livery stable is also an event center.

It's very nice museum. Has lots of old buildings from the old west days. A nice Pavillion, a livery stable you can rent out for weddings, anniversary parties etc. Huge inside. Clean immaculate restrooms. Make it a point to stop in and see the place.
