Outstanding museum! Every year, I drove right through Savery without stopping. I figured, "the town is so small, they couldn't possibly have anything interesting there." Boy ,was I wrong! It is definitely worth stopping and spending a few hours here. They have lots to see and learn about the history of this part of Wyoming.

I saw Jim Baker's cabin in Cheyenne in the early 1960's. Dad took pictures. Time was telling on the structure. Very happy to see the wonderful restoration, as well as the well-documented artifacts and carefully collected research. The cabin is now where it belongs. Hope many visitors appreciate this historic building. Very early in the late 19th & early 20th century, the people of Wyoming and Colorado realized the importance of Jim Baker. He was a living legend to his peers, who sought to preserve his legacy shortly after he died. Well done, Wyoming! ♥ Would love to live there again.

One of the best museums in the state of Wyoming. Many building and each are themed to the business or home of the area in the 1800's. Very neat well organized collection that was locally sourced. Everything from clothes to medical office items to antique farm equipment. There is a boardwalk with a variety of stores and businesses. There is a large collection of firearms. The mountain man jim baker lived near here and his original cabin is on display you can go into and see an original trappers cabin and trading post. They also have turn of the century mining equipment. All this is situated in one of the most beautiful valleys in Wyoming that sits at the base of the Sierra Madre mountains.
