Amazing place with lots to see! So much history packed into one piece of land. Be sure to take a guided tour- they unlock rooms usually closed off to visitors and you get a close-up view of what life would have been like at Fort Bridger when it was an active military post. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Big thanks go out to "The Oregon Trail" game I played as a young'un, without which I probably would have never remembered there was a place called Fort Bridger.

Exceptional history here! Everything is well preserved, very fun and educational. Don't miss- it's out of the way but well worth the trip!

james mcbay

it was great up there in the mid 70's

Richard Poole

It is large and open. Plenty of places to pitch a tent and make a campsite just outside of the main event.

History at its best. Premium photo opp. Excellent self paced walking tour. Have a picnic. Let the kids run. Pet friendly, leash required. Parking avail for larger RVs.

Mike Pacitti

Maybe worth stopping by if you're passing through, but I wouldn't make the trip just for the museum, and they close pretty early. By the way, why no mention at the museum of how Bridger withheld letters that may have stopped the Donner party from taking the Hastings Cutoff and leading to the death of half the group?

J.S. Mac

Love the Jim Bridger story. The grounds here magnificent. Must see this legendary mountain man's property.

We enjoyed fort very much. Have read about it many times. Excellent place to visit.

Established by Jim Bridger in 1843 as an emigrant supply stop on the Oregon trail, it was obtained by the Mormons in the late 1850s, and then became a military outpost in 1858. They had the whole Williamsburg thing going on with teenage employees reluctantly dressed up in the period-wear. Pretty interesting place that had a museum with lots of info on those who traveled the Oregon Trail.

I am a huge fan of Western history and the history of the mountain man. This place is packed with history. The replica of the old fort is amazing and i just wish I'd have had more time to explore! So much to see .

Jim Perry

We visited two days. Second day did the house tour with Kim, she is an Awesome Docent. it was a $10 well spent. It's not far of I-80.

Andy Duvall

Amazing historical site that is largely unchanged from more than 100 years ago. The annual rendezvous is a great event, and worth a visit.

Jason Jordan

Worth a stop if you’re driving by. A lot of interesting people have come through this old fort and they have preserved a good amount of pieces and buildings.

This site is amazing. Years ago when I went to college, I was able to work on an archaeology site in Fairview, Utah. It was the site of Johnston's Army Military encampment from 1857-1860. Here at Fort Bridger I found out that this is where Johnston's Army wintered right before his 3 year stay in Utah to keep an eye on the Mormons. The site is very large and the general store is furnished with things from that era. A great place to experience a bit of history. Great for families.

Xandish Steves

Great history and an honor to visit a piece of sacred ground that helped so many travelers back in the day. Kim in the gift shop (replica of Bridgers Fort) was very kind and helpful.

Red Deserted

Must see!!!! Get off the interstate and stroll the grounds and the many historic buildings.

Christopher Gonzalez

Neat site with plenty of information about the Oregon Trail, Lincoln Highway and Mormon Pioneer Trail. Great staff knowledgeable and proud of their community's history. A mountain man is said to arrive regularly to the vistors center exchanging hand made goods for sale!

Verlee Gilkerson

Lots of history displayed in a visual way. We wish we had more time to see everything but it started raining to hard to get to the back cabin or hike around. Go on a good day that has no forecast for rain as there is a lot of open ground. The buildings and houses are set up in a way you can picture life back then. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Jacob Finch

Very Interesting, if you love American history, this should be on your bucket list.
