Went to the annual Civil War reenactment. Excellent except for the food. Too' little and not great.

John Halbach

Nice state park, clean and well organized.

Peter Grafton

Interesting place but not really all that significant. A hotel half way between two cities. I think the people of that time would find our interest in this rather amusing. There are some interesting things to do in the area though. Elkhart lake Road America raceway is nearby, and the Kettle Moraine northern unit is a mile south with some great hiking, mountain biking and camping.

Leia Stephens

My dad and I had such a great time at the Civil War weekend...I wish they had more food options though... definitely recommend this place.

This was the 3rd time my family has visited the Wade House and we always enjoy it! We went to the Christmas celebration and enjoyed seeing the period decorations, strung cranberries and popcorn, made old fashioned toys, enjoyed hot cider and plum pudding, went on a scavenger hunt, and decorated gingerbread cookies. It was a very fun afternoon!

Suzanne Ramirez

My girls loved participating in their Pioneer day camp and we had a good time touring the site. I would love to go back another time when it wasn't raining.

Janet

This is a local gem I had never visited before. During the winter months the building and grounds are closed except for their monthly Hearthside Dinners. This was an opportunity for 15 visitors to participate in preparing a meal like the Inn would have served to the stagecoach passengers. The docents were delightful and kept the experience very close to authentic. I loved this experience!

J S

Great museum, friendly staff and a good learning experience.

We had a wedding here, and we're absolutely floored by how great the venue and staff were. The costs were very affordable and the event coordinator helped us out a ton with a few thorny issues that popped up during planning. The day of she was there the entire time and helped in a hundred large and small ways to make sure everything went smoothly. For those not looking at booking a wedding or event here... The carriage museum is great and has a lot of child friendly activities, and the carriage rides and grounds are gorgeous. Extremely worth the visit and very easy to spend a day exploring the grounds.

This interactive museum has a wonderful selection of historic artifacts with great documentation. The interactive carriage exhibit is wonderful. A horse drawn wagon ride around the rest of the grounds adds to the immersion. The blacksmith and wade house offer a great glimpse into historic Wisconsin. We visited during the Civil War days and we were blown away (pun intended).

James Pape

The size of this historic site is perfect for an afternoon learning adventure. A horse drawn carriage takes you from the museum to the carriage house, forge and sawmill. Each site has actor guides with interesting stories about mid 19th century Wisconsin. On our visit we got to take a side trip to see a horse drawn plow demonstration.

Kathy Massmann

Very informative guided tour of the property and of the family history in Wisconsin. The tour included a horse drawn wagon ride through the farm land and woods out to the homestead. Then a tour in the blacksmith barn to watch and learn from a demonstration . A guided tour through the entire Wade house, 3 floors of rooms. A horse ride back to the museum and a self walking tour of the carriage museum collection with interactive displays. Well worth a trip to spend time, back into history.
