So much history.

I have seen other reviews indicating that this is a great place to visit if you are a photographer. I disagree—It is so good for all to visit on so many levels. The hisory and beauty of the Dells is so evident in this museum. Also the way of life of the people of this era. The section on the lumber man and what they had to do for their living is remarkable. Also the section on the Ho Chunk Native Americans who lived in the Dells tells so much about their lives and Culture. The fact that Bennett’s studio is preserved is amazing. He was a true genius as an artist and inventor. The Staff is very knowledgeable and open to spending time with guests and answering questions. I would highly recommend this Museum to all and the cost is minimal

Amazing museum and shop about H. H. Bennett's work! As a photographer I was pleased by how knowledgeable and helpful the staff were. They helped me look for a specific print from Bennett, and we're able to find it in their electronic archive. Thanks again!

Saw what the Wisconsin Dells were back in the day. Good selection of historical photos and books. Great interaction with staff members. It was definitely worth our road trip detour.

Beautiful gift shop, museum, and interactive display.

This museum is doing some really cool stuff! They have outdoor walking tours and a self guided indoor museum tour. They also have a tintype experience where the site director will "strike" your photograph on a tintype and explain the entire process! As part of the Wisconsin Historical Society, this museum explores the history of Wisconsin through the story of a man and his family living and working in Kilbourn (Wisconsin Dells). I would highly recommend this place to folks looking for educational, or history centered entertainment in the Dells.

A cool little museum in downtown Wisconsin Dells. It was a nice escape from the heat and humidity

It was very well laid out following course is Bennett's life through his photography. Learned a lot about this pioneer in photography that I did not know. His original photographs on display were awesome. Well worth the price of admission.

Dennis O

Well done display of the works of Bennett that made the Dells a must see attraction.

Robert Squires

Fascinating museum of photography and geography of the Wisconsin Dells. It is an oasis for the cerebral visitor to the Dells and Lake Delton. Learn about how the Wisconsin Dells became a tourist destination in the 1800's that continues to draw millions of visitors a year. If you have any interest in photography, geography, or history, then this is the place to see. It works great to see the museum and take a Dells boat tour to see the actual location of the photos taken by H.H. Bennett. It's worth a stop in the gift shop, but tour the museum for the full experience.

I love the gift shop and can't wait to visit this place again this July of 2017!!! We are so very excited we are huge fans of the Wisconsin Dells for over ten years! We try to visit as much historical sites as we can in the area each year we covered so many and we go to them twice, every other year! I wanna buy some more new items this year and see what's new too! Thank You and see you soon! ;)

Incredible place for stereo photography geeks! Art History Alert! Perhaps Bennett will become known as the godfather of virtual reality for his pioneering use of stereoscopic imagery. I took the opportunity to link the most historic photographic studio in America, to the future, by creating 360 degree photospheres which I can view in the Oculus Rift. This was run as conscious conceptual art. Knowing the chronology. I was first to visit 360 photos upon H.H Bennett Studio!! Artistic statement to the virtual reality, present.

Cool history. We went when it was free due to a state grant. They should do that again so more people can see it.

Great collection of Bennett's art and the actual equipment he used. While we were there one of the employees was taking pictures with period cameras and developing the tintypes and glass plates while we were there. Very informative and extremely well done, highly recommend adding this stop to your visit while in Wisconsin Dells.
