Totally fun and kitsch! Plus, the museum provides an excellent overview of John Brown's life, raid, and demise.

The oddest thing about this museum is how they compare themselves to huge wax museums that are dedicated to pop culture. Yes, their prices are lower than a wax museum in DC or NYC, but the experience is shorter. A 15-minute stop if you're into history or old museums, but skip it unless you're solo.

Harpers Ferry has a lot of small attractions. None are outstanding by themselves but together they are worthwhile.

TC Brown

It is an old building and old wax statues. That does not take away from the fact that is an interesting visual educational opportunity. It might be scary for some younger children. The cost is a bit much, but we had a good visit. They offer discounts to seniors, children, and veterans. We enjoyed the audio presentations.

Rachel Robinson

Lily Douglass

The wax looked pretty realistic, and I enjoyed the audio information.

Caleb Singer

The Museum was nice, I would be impressed if I was in grade school. Some of the wax figures color was off. At the end of the day it's worth a 30 minute stop.

A classic must see when visiting Harpers Ferry. Nothing else like it in the country.

Cool old-school wax museum. But it's super musty inside...

Was a pretty cool experience. It take's you through the process of John Brown's life. A bit outdated.

I visited the John Brown Wax Museum this summer. Great experience. I loved the old timey feel of the building that was actually there during the raid. I am so glad that the owners have preserved this ambiance. It doesn't feel like a museum but rather like going back in time. As a school teacher, I think this might be a great field trip for my kids because the wax figures are definitely a fun way to learn about this time in history. Quite a few of the scenes are audio narrated which I prefer. I found it very affordable compared to other wax museums I have been to. I plan to go again.

Really neat place

I was very disappointed in the whole experience. The very first display's audio did not work and the person at the front desk had to run down the hall and hit the display for it to work properly. The lighting was poor and the waxworks of the slaves looked like monkeys. I would say that I am not going to be recommending this place to anyone.

Kind of depressing and run down. One of the few places with ac.

Very nice history lesson. Wax figures are not high quality but exhibits are well done.

Wow...I felt like I was going to get killed in there. Very creepy and poor outdated "wax" models

A good history lesson, and still just as creepy as I remember it being when I was in the fourth grade. My kids (10, 12, & 14) all enjoyed it. The upkeep of the building left much to be desired. There was an strong mildew odor throughout, despite obvious attempts to cover it with air fresheners. Lots of peeling wall paper and floors in need of cleaning or repair.

We stopped at this museum as part of spending the day at Harpers Ferry...and I have to say it was one of the more thought provoking things we have done in awhile. How does one protest something you believe so strongly? The displays are a little dated (for $7, it’s still a great deal)...but the topic seems particularly relevant to today. Highly recommend a stop if you’re in town. You could probably spend plenty of time, but the 30-minute walk through was well worth it.

This has been right in my backyard for a decade, and I never knew it. It is a step back in time. John Brown's history comes alive as so much of the town is perfectly preserved. The mountain and River views are spectacular. The park rangers are great. Only draw back is the lack of parking. They do have buses, but it makes the visit harder. I'll be back!

Really creepy but really cool, and a lot of information

Daniel Houghton

It's a short walk through a historic house with wax figures behind a glass window. It offers some history but nothing we hadn't already seen in the free museums in harpers ferry. Felt this was a bit of a waste.

Not the highest quality wax figures, but the displays are very well done. The history lesson is also very interesting and is something most people likely don't know about American anti-slavery history. Very informative. Harper's Ferry is home to a lot of historical attractions and this is just one of them. $7 for adults, $6 for seniors/veterans. Six floors of displays depicting the life of John Brown and his anti-slavery raid on Harper's Ferry.

Samantha Tourney

Everything you need to know about John Brown is here. Why would you read more plaques? He is not a martyr.

Aurora Pagani

(Translated by Google) The museum is interesting but $ 7 per person seems a little expensive as it takes half an hour to visit it all (Original) Il museo è interessante ma $7 a persona sembra un po' caro visto che è sufficiente mezz'ora per visitarlo tutto

Sherry Carter

Talks about the life of John brown. Museum was ok but not worth seven dollars.

I feel it is an obligation of mine in this day and age when word of mouth could save people time and hard earned cash that they keep walking past this "wax museum". We joke that this was one of the worst "attractions" we have ever entered. Buy ice cream and take a hike instead.
