We had a great time today. We only did the pioneer farm tour as we had little ones with us and didn't think they could handle both tours. The staff was very friendly and informative. The first two buildings were not interactive but still very interesting to see how the homes were set up back in the day. The next two parts of the tour were hands on and in both areas they explain everything first and then let you go around trying everything. The whole time the guide was there to help and assist. They had a lot of things set up for the kids to try like making a piece of wool yarn, grinding wheat, kneading dough, churning butter, trying on pioneer clothes, and several other things. The animal area was great! The kids milked a cow, pet the sheep, rubbed the pigs belly (it's name was bacon bits and it was the cutest thing ever), tried to hold a chicken, and went on horse rides. There was even a blacksmith area that my oldest was able to stoke the fire, put a horseshoe in the vice and shape it a bit. There was also a anvil for pounding flat again. There was also a wood working area that had several different activities. Last but not least there is an amazing barn cat (orange tabby) that I think was all the kids favorite! There was also a great little gift shop. The prices for the tour and the items in the shop were very reasonable and they take debit! I will definitely be back to check out the other tour! Thank you to the workers for doing such a wonderful job!
