This Museum is included in the category of History museum.
I love the Cambell house, and the museum always has amazing stuff!
Always a pleasant outing. I go 3 or4 times a year.
A medium sized museum where you can spend 1-2 hours. The exhibit we saw, Giants Dragons and Unicorns was incredibly well done. Lots of cryptozoology info about mythical creatures, but also a decent amount of actual historical data about how cultures saw these mythical creatures. I laughed hard at the fairy/troll section - it's incredibly well done. Absolutely fantastic museum.
A wonderful place to spend the afternoon with kids or adults. Great exhibits.
Wonderful museum providing a history of the Northwest. When we went they had a photo exhibit that showed images of the natives originally in the region that were photographed in the 1800s. They also have a historic house and a early 1900s electric car.
Glass exhibit was amazing as was the Campbell House tour.
I am a member and this place is great, the main gallery changes quarterly or so. Good prices for admission and a great place to see some art and the historic Cambell House.
We visited this museum for the first time in over 25 years and were pleased to see a new exhibit, Lost Egypt, that had started only days before our arrival. The displays were interesting, but the line of travel throughout the exhibit seemed to be disjointed and hard to follow. The paintings by Linda Hyatt Cancel were beautiful and well displayed. For a smaller museum, it is overall worth the time and money to visit
Great exhibits!! So nice to see so many coming to see them
Great Museum for kids and Adults to enjoy.
I very much enjoy this place! Their tour of the Campbell house next to the museum was particularly enjoyable. Our tour guide (whose name I wasnt able to catch) had lots of historical insights regarding the lifestyle of the people back in the early times of the Spokane city!
We really enjoyed all the glass work. The pieces were very beautiful
Fine little museum in Spokane. Great place to spend a few hours, and learn more about the history, culture and art of the area, and the world depending on the traveling exhibits. Not to mention, it's in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city!
Clean and friendly. Entrance fee seemed a little high, but they have good exhibits.
Really nice they have good rotating art exhibits. The place has really changed over the last 10 years. Always a good date spot as well.
Amazing exhibit, tastefully done with thought given to reflect.
When we visited there was a 55 gallon drum of caustic chemicals being stored inches from the top floor elevator door, which seems like a really safe place to store something like that. There were two "rooms" open with items, it took twice …
Went to see the Chihuly exhibit. It was small, was hoping for more. I did love the "Blue Footed Boobies"!
We went specifically for the Titanic exhibit. My girls are 11, 9 and 6 and they were entertained for the full hour we were there. We have been many times for the regular exhibits including the Campbell house and have always appreciated the ability to step back in time with neat, detailed and well explained period exhibits.
Lovely experience and the blown glass exhibit was so pretty. Being from Seattle, to see even a mini Chihuly exhibit was a treat. Go and catch it, if you’re able.
Wonderful cultural experience in Spokane. Beautiful exhibits and great shop for art or mementos. Loved the glass exhibit and the mobile glass blowers.
We stopped by this Museum to see an excellent display buy a Japanese artist where she used recycled plastic items to create massive recreation's of animals. The two horses sculpture where they were actually in motion or appeared to be in motion, it was really super cool to see. They also had an amazing display of photography by a guy that went around the country photographing portraits of American Indians it was really stunning. The time period was early 20th century and late 1900s Lots of parking in a very clean Museum I definitely would recommend it to anybody that's stopping in Spokane Washington
Facilities are fantastic, but sometimes feel underutilized. Occasionally there are fantastic exhibits, but rarely are there more than two compelling exhibits per year. The local exhibits are generally surprisingly excellent. I wish there were more interactive exhibits. The museum is an awesome and essential local organization that preserves regional history. The adjacent Campbell House is a must-see and often exhibits in the MAC have ties to the Campbell House.
Lighting for the blown glass was poor. Colors were muted.
Great place to show the kids some arts and cultural about the world and history not only of the world vut locally too
Went with ROCKFORD United Methodist Women's group for a fun outing.
Fairly easy for this senior citizen to get around. There were some nicely placed benches for taking a break. We really had a nice visit.
Out of every museum I have visited, there is nothing more amazing then the MAC. The art the culture and the amazing service (Abby helped me) is something to behold. It seems out of place in the middle of a neighborhood; but the location, history and passion the people have about the culture in this neighborhood is something I have never seen. I look forward to all the new exhibits and detailed history behind every exhibit they hold. This museum bleeds passion for connecting and bridging the gap between the humble history of Spokane and it's lust for culture.
Aww this is a fabulous place of Art and history with glass blowing exhibits, and Native American needed art and items that really add to the beauty of the Ancient crafts they used to dress in style.
Small, friendly and featuring interesting quilts.
Great place for history and culture.
A true treasure hidden in the northwest.
All exhibits very good. Glass exhibit stunning, amazing!
Expected it to be much better, not what you expect from a museum.
Always great exhibits spokane's pride and joy.
Great exhibits. Primo museum.
Go on the third Thursday of the month! Open late, discounted tickets, great music, and excellent selection of local brews and wine.
Glad I brought my quilter friend. I learned waaay more about the cigarette cloths in the quilts.
There is the Campbell House (a permanent feature) to see and a couple of other small exhibits, but the glass was the reason we went. Very nice staff, lots of free parking, plenty of places to eat nearby, and lots of beautiful homes in the surrounding neighborhood do make this museum worth a stop. But we went to see the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit, with other artists. We were disappointed with the small amount of pieces (for the $10 admission). although what was there was very nice. The PR about the exhibit, on TV, made it sound like there was quite a lot to see.
Gotta go at least once. Musuem always has something interesting.
We have been so pleased with our family membership. The quality of exhibits is very unique and pertinent to our area. The detail and work that goes into each display is subtle, so as to emphasize the individual items. Yet they all flow and play into each other so complimentary. There is a fun room for the younger MAC attendees to enjoy creating their own art. You can also schedule a free tour of the Campbell House, courtesy with admission, during regular scheduled hours. What a way to spend an afternoon!
Saw the glass Chihuly exhibit. Very beautiful! Wish there was more though. Great staff and great experience!
The best local museum; thought-provoking exhibits in a beautiful building, much about Native Americans. Friendly staff; the gift shop has some fine art pieces including contemporary sculpture and art glass. The Modern Masters F/64 Group temporary exhibit was great. Don’t miss the Campbell House, a gem from the Gilded Age. Campbell was one of America’s uber-wealthy mining barons.
The collection is decent, but needs to be expanded further.
Awesome Glass work exhibit. Also the Arctic Paintings were really impressive. 5 out 5 would come back.
Such a great museum in our area with world class exhibits. A must!
Beautiful, family events are fantastic. They do a awsome job.
We've been here a few times, and it is constantly a good experience. The facility is very nice, clean, and the staff is friendly. I found the Campbell house guided tour to be very good. My only complaint is that the traveling exhibits tend to be a bit small, and the museum on the whole is a bit small.
I still would really like it does that sometimes
Very cool display. Was hoping for alot more since it was a 2 hour drive.
Enjoyed fantastic beasts exhibit. The Campbell house is unique.
I have not been here in years, so I was excited to go. The exhibits are very very small and Not worth the admission price. We looked at everything and it took about 15 minutes
The current exhibit of "Dragons, Giants, and Unicorns was delightful and educational. I was amazed at discovering that mammoth bones, particularly leg, pelvis, and rib cage, were strikingly similar to human bones. No wonder that earlier civilizations thought there were giants. There were giants, just not the bipedal type.
A great experience, so many different displays
Always a lot of fun, the exhibit space is rather small, but contains a lot of fascinating items. The glass exhibit was quite impressive, as was Titanic, they change exhibits every 3-5 months so there is frequently something new. The Campbell house is quite fascinating as well, it is a permanent feature.
Definitely a great family place, young and old can definitely enjoy. Love how they do community events that allows the entire family to be able to afford to enjoy.
We had a great experience. The family went specifically to see the chihuli display and it was so beautiful. It was quite grandiose. The exhibit included other glass artists as well. Just stunning.
Fantastic exhibits, well worth the experience!
Not incredibly interesting exhibits at the moment, but always a fun hour to spend. Great staff and fun gift shop. The campbell house is lovely, especially at Christmas time. There's often cookies baking in the antique kitchen. A fun experience for any age.
Love the museum it's not huge but has lots of character and great exhibits. The view of Spokane is beautiful and the Campbell house is a must see.
A beautiful exhibitions where absolutely you will found the perfect mixture between history, arts, and amazing spaces for the kids!
Great exhibits and reasonable entry fees
Such a wonderful collection!
Mad pokestops round these parts
Saw the Chihully glass exhibit. Liked the video about him and how he developed his techniques. Also a nice representation of a variety of other artists. Was glad to see they had the glass blowing exhibit rather tan just having the display. Sorry my grandkids weren't there to see it!
Always changing themes. Great place, kids loved it.
Better than I expected! I loved how spacious it was. The exhibits were super interesting. Especially the recycled material sculptures. Campbell House tour with Linnie was the best part!
Normal Rockwell exhibit is fantastic!
The museum usually has multiple exhibits going on. i went t see a Dale Chuilly exhibit and also saw an exhibit of native dress and lifestyle. There was another room with photos, paintings and artifacts from the far north. There is a restaurant and a gift shop on site, and ramps to walk to the exhibits so stairs and the elevator can be avoided.
The "Giants, Dragons, and Unicorns" exhibit was so cool!
Nice but small collection of Adams, VanDyke, Westons, and Cunningham in a small space. A few of the classics were displayed, but more could have been included. Adams’s Moonrise over Hernandez (NM) was on display, but it was a huge print, not the customary contact print or smaller-dimension print. The large size of the print detracted, unfortunately. The prints displayed were part of the Bank of America Collection, and I am glad that they are available for this sort of showing. However, more of the classics from each photographer would have made for a more satisfying viewing. Will I go back for another viewing? Probably.
My gf and I were here for the Titanic exhibit. The exhibits themselves were thoughtfully placed to allow large crowds to move around and view items from multiple positions. Additional signs mentioning the cases were motion sensitive might have been useful as many people touched the cases and set off the alarm. The largest issue was actually the street this place is located on. It's an incredibly narrow road which allows parking on both sides, but this means there is only room for one vehicle's width while driving through.
My family and I had a great time it took us 2 hrs and we still didn't finish doing the activities. It great for all ages
Great display of dragons and unicorns
Husband surprised me by plugging the address into the phone then told me to follow the directions. We really enjoyed the Campbell House tour. I especially liked the Carriage House and the electric car from the earlier part of the century. Really cool. Of course the Ansel Adams exhibit was worth the price of admission. We will go again.
Very pretty came with my grandpa and it was fun
Lots of nice Native American things, photos, ceremonial stuff.
Went for the chihuly display. Overall the exhibits were nicely displayed and we'll described. Best display was the stalwart security man hunched at his station. Been there 17 years.
Had a wonderful experience. I will tell all my friends. Thankyou
I went for the Chihuly exhibit, which was amazing, but then the Wendy Franklund Miller exhibit was an amazing surprise.
Chahuly exhibit worth seeing.
For children mostly. Cool spot, but mature audiences be warned.
We went for the Norman Rockwell exhibit, and really enjoyed it.
It's a great find with interesting exhibits regularly throughout the year. It's smaller than other places like in Victoria, B.C. or Seattle, but that's too be expected. For their space and number of attendees they do put on high quality, engaging, and fun exhibits. Their one on Egypt was pretty good a year or so ago. The Titanic one this year was excellent. They also offer some great lectures on history, culture, nature and even an archeology one that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. It's a great find in Spokane. Parking sucks though, be warned.
Took my mom to see the glass sculptures. We both had fun. Can't wait for the next installation.
I always love the MAC!!! Was great to be able to see such wonderful glass pieces!!
We love the MAC in Spokane. Always something new, and a wonderful atmosphere. I wish Spokane had more museums, but I'm very thankful for the Northwest Museum Of Arts and Culture.
A regional source for the Arts and Culture. Exhibits run gamut from living, modern, to native (Columbia Basin) artists and artisans. Check out what's showing--and you still may be surprised!
Very nice museum and a highlight of our visit was extensive 1 hour guided tour of neighboring Campbell House! Our tour guide Devrick was -very- knowledgeable and gave us amazing info and insight into the family, servants and history of the house and Spokane during the early 1900's - he brought it all to life! Thank you Devrick! This was definitely worth the admission fee and more ( AAA and student discounts apply, so it came out to $8 pp). Staff was very helpful too when we missed the guided tour last week - they gave us a raincheck (use w/in 90 days). Check for hours - Campbell House guided tours are currently Tu-F, Sunday 12,1,2,3pm, and open house format on Saturdays. Get tickets early as it is first come first served!
Wonderful museum...nice Chulily exhibit..love the facility.
I could have saved my money and looked online as there was very few items that belonged in a museum. Lacking actual artefacts. The mystical creature exhibit was a joke. The Campbell house was closed, but was supposed to be included. I could have better spent my money elsewhere.
The into the Arctic exhibit was great. Went to see Chuhlia but enjoyed the other exhibits as much.
Thoroughly enjoyed exhibits. The staff was very friendly, informative, and helpful with my son's school field trip.
They always have awesome exhibits and very well priced!
The Norman Rockwell exhibit was excellent!
I've seen a few great exhibits so far and look forward to many more!
it was my first time visiting his place it was very interesting. Especially I love the exhibit that shows you how they restore and preserve artifacts. You can tour a historical home and that in and of itself is a museum experience. The only thing I wish is that the food shop was open later
Went to see the Chihuly exhibit. Was a bit smaller than I was expecting but only because I've been to the Seattle exhibit a d never to the Spokane museum. The price for entry was cheap IMO $10. There were also other exhibits there and some awesome paintings. The parking was minimal. Probably because it was the opening day for the exhibit.
Went to see the glass exibit. Beautiful. Only wish the museum gave out a small map to find your way around
Awesome experience in the glass display by renowned studio glass artists including Dale Chihuly. The displays are beautiful. The other exhibits like the Artic are very interesting. Well worth the trip.
Check times to see the Campbell house, not much to see. Also, house in NOT haunted, just old.
We had a wonderful morning in family at the MAC. The kids enjoyed the exhibitions and activity room, giving the adults plenty of time to appreciate the art and information provided in the displays. We had a quick bite at the café and enjoyed the beautiful view. We will return regularly. The household annual membership is a great option to hang out on rainy and cold days all year. Hopefully, the museum will continue to develop its offerings and become a real asset to this community!
A very pleasant way to spend a few hours or an afternoon.
Quality exhibits. Hard working employees.
Wonderful displays, very well set up... I usually go there 3-4 times a year. Always well presented and enjoyable...love it.
A wonderful place I've visited several times. The curator does an excellent job of getting interesting and beautiful collections for this museum.
Great exhibits. Fun interactive activities for kids.
Nice little museum, part of Smithsonian and NARM. Liked the Campbell house and carriage house next door as part of tour. Once again, all workers were friendly and quick to answer any questions.
Small venue but great exhibits. Very well displayed.
Great local gem. They had a nice variety in the few galleries. We went for the Chihully exhibit today. They also had some local Native textiles in one gallery. Another space had large landscapes from the arctic regions of Canada and Alaska. They even had a glass blowing exhibition out in front of the museum. Of course there is a nice little gift shop. They also have the historic Campbell house next door.
Small town museum for a city mid size like Spokane . Clean well laid out staff helpful . Gift shoppe is small and needs more in store about what is in exhibit for purchase .
So beautiful!!! The history and culture we're breathtaking
Nicely curated regional museum. Enjoyed the traveling glass exhibit.
Good. Clean. And small
For being a smaller museum, The MAC gets some really interesting and unique exhibits. I've gone to a few different exhibits, the last being monsters from mythology, and I've been blown away at the information and the displays. As you spiral down to the main exhibit you find several smaller exhibits that are just as unique as the main exhibit or some that are even more interesting. Plus when you're done you can take a tour of the Campbell House that is on the same campus. The photos are different textiles made in the Spokane area plus a life size sabertooth tiger that was made entirely of paper.
Well laid out, Interesting exhibits with new ones frequently
I have seen some really interesting stuff here
Best art museum in Spokane. A large permanent collection of native art. The F64 exhibition with Ansel Adams was beautifully curated, hung, and lit. A wonderful and informative visual journey through early art photography.
I wish they had more things but all around it was a good time
A real treasure! Loved the Chihuly exhibit!
I've loved the museum and Campbell House since I was a kid. Good things do age well, especially when they are cared for with a sense of appreciation and enthusiasm. Today we participated in the Annual Mother's Day Tour of homes. The 30th year. This is but one benefit of museum membership.
I had seen the billboard for this museum as I was travelling into town. Thrilled I was to go and see the glass show. What an opportunity to see such astonishing examples of international glass works. The rest of the museum was of great interest as there was a fascinating array of local knowledge nicely presented. Access was great as someone with a bad knee I appreciated the elevator. Stirling clean bathrooms a total plus.
Great asset for Spokane. Permanent collection is good, traveling exhibitions bring interesting stuff to Spokane.
Such a fun and interesting place! I went for the Chihuly exhibit, which was small but still very impressive. I remembered the tour of the Campbell House from grade school and it was neat to get to go through again now as an adult. The cost for admission is very reasonable as well.
I have been visiting the Mac since I was but a wee lad, and have always enjoyed the exhibits, friendly and helpful staff, and the occasional special event! The gift shop has a rotating selection of local art, and great exhibit related souvenirs of any price range.
Interesting information about the native people of Idaho, the forest fires and the artifacts from the early days of European settlements. We also liked the Lewis and Clark exhibit.
I enjoyed the exhibit I went to see. The live music however was just not great.
We have been to the MAC a couple time, but this was the first visit to the Campbell house. The Campbell house was the highlight to our museum trip. I love how the displays change at the museum and everyone can find something to enjoy.
The museum was a fun adventure for my family and I. We were able to open our eyes and minds. We all really got on our creative side!
Ducked in here for a quick review of Norman Rockwell exhibit. Go!!! You will not regret it!
Wonderful exhibits!
Too bad their replicas are well made though.
Family friendly place
I spent several enjoyable hours at at the museum today. As a visitor to Spokane I enjoyed the one hour included tour of the adjacent Campbell mansion that gave me some insights to the neighborhood we happened to be staying in. I also enjoyed the rug and quilt display and was particularly interested in the quilt that included tobacco company material swatches given in cigarette packs as collectibles for women. The current exhibit was one of dragons and other magical creatures, definitely targeting children with it's hands on activities, but there was an interesting video of native american stories of Coyote, and a smattering of international dragon information for adults. The cafe is open until 2pm. It has a limited menu but I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich and vegetable soup which gave me energy to finish the museum. The museum is in a beautiful new building, the exhibits were small but interesting, there were a lot of hands on activities for children.
Really enjoyed the time there. The"glass" exhibit is extraordinary!
Wonderful place to visit, excellent display of products
Sorry, but we were not impressed with the dragons and unicorns exhibit, even our 6 and 9 year said it was lame.I think that they were expecting something like the commercial for it on TV, but it was nothing like that.
It was so nice you need to look at it
More of a kids venue. Sasquatch display disappointing. Not expecting it to be towards kids as a cartoon character. Reasonable price admission
Very enjoyable place to visit
Great exhibits and unique shows! A+++
The museum usually has multiple exhibits going on. i went t see a Dale Chuilly exhibit and also saw an exhibit of native dress and lifestyle. There was another room with photos, paintings and artifacts from the far north. There is a restaurant and a gift shop on site, and ramps to walk to the exhibits so stairs and the elevator can be avoided. This is a small but interesting museum and my ticket included entrance to the Campbell House. I loved the collection of glass sculptures.
The glass exhibit was beautiful. All exhibits were displayed nicely and a little of history from each of the different pieces
This place offers great history of Spokane and surrounding areas. I enjoyed exploring the exhibits. Many years ago our school took a field trip there it was fun! Going as an older adult now I learned so much more! I truly enjoyed the who,e experience!
The Museum was very clean, well lit, very interesting subjects being covered, afterward we went over to the Mansion
I was delighted and surprised to find such a fine museum in Spokane. Perhaps I should have expected it, though, since Spokane has truly grown up. This museum is a must see experience!
Wendy's show was fantastic
Needs more things I it other than that it was ok
Great place, reasonable admission, lots to see.
Loved it. Very Nice
Like this local museum. It is one block from my house so it makes it easy to see new attractions. It currently itls the mythical creatures exhibit.
Enjoyed my visit to the museum, especially the tour of the Campbell House. Dan provided an incredibly interesting and enjoyable tour of the Campbell Home even though I was the only visitor taking the tour. Thanks, Dan!
The MAC is always a great experience, and utilizes education in many of its exhibits. Recently the glass art movement was here (a beautiful experience) alongside an incredible viewing of the basket and beading artwork of local tribes. Exceptional. Artwork on the grounds (find the critters breaking out through the bars), the Campbell House, and amphitheater. You can join the MAC for $35 bucks, and THAT is an entertainment and educational steal. Just do it!
The museum is nice but much smaller than I expected. We went to see the mythical creatures exhibit and I expected to see more art work that featured mythical creatures. Instead it was a nice history of the myths.
It is awesome! So much culture and art. It even has workshops for school groups and outings.
Fascinating collection.
Super excited to see that they have Chihuly work here. The glass exhibit was amazing to see. Was also excited to hear that they've been switching the exhibits out more frequently. This is a great place to learn a little bit about the Spokane natives as well.
