Hidden Gem! This museum has an extensive collection of US military items as well as some notable conversation pieces like a stuart tank, Eisenhower's WWI army helmet and a section of the Berlin Wall. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again!

$8 admission. Plan on 3 hours if you're one who reads signs - there is A LOT of material in there. Outstanding displays, MANY artifacts, very well organized, fantastic interpretive signs. Covers all (ALL) American wars.

There are great exhibits in the grounds outside the museum. Check out the Vietnam war memorial, holocaust memorial, and world war 2 submarine memorial.

This place looks small and unassuming from the outside, but I was absolutely dumbfounded by how much it contains! Every time I thought I was almost through, there was another exhibit! I stopped taking pictures because I just had so many and my camera was dying! I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in military history and weaponry! Will be going back for sure!

A regional hidden treasure for the military history enthusiast. A treasure trove of artifacts from propaganda posters, firearms, uniforms, heavy equipment, and soldiers personal kit. Other than their "M16A2" exhibit, the galleries were a joy to go through, with several uncommon artifacts like a WW1 artillery tractor, and a complete Stoner 63 display.

So many actual uniforms, pieces brought back from various war theaters. Things that I haven't seen at any other museums! Worth your time. I wish we had left more time to walk through.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of items on display in the museum. The collection included everything from the Revolutionary War to the more modern wars. I loved that you could view at your own pace. A definite "must see" for war history buffs and even for the ones who are mildly interested. My husband loved looking at the guns, swords and uniforms. I really enjoyed the collection of war posters.

Fittingly, I stumbled upon the Virginia War Museum on Memorial Day. I initially visited the memorial park outside in the immediate vicinity of the Museum building, and then wandered inside. Plan to spend 1-2 hours on site to do this museum justice. The outside park area includes a holocaust Memorial, and a number of predominantly naval memorials. The Museum only charged me $6 for admission - it may cost you a few $ more. It has some tremendous displays and memorabilia from the colonial period to the present day. It has a special section dedicated to the ‘68-‘69 period of the Vietnam war, and another special exhibit on black American military leaders.

This is an outstanding museum, tucked along side the memorial cemetery where the crew of USS Scorpion (SSN 589) are memorialized and an annual ceremony held to commemorate their loss 51 years ago. Highly recommend visiting the museum and attending one of the Scorpion memorials.

Very cool meseum! I would say the tanks and guns etc. outside are way more interesting than the inside. The kids love this place! Family friendly although you occasionally have some shady people walking around the park.

There are a lot of authentic war uniforms dating back to the Revolutionary War, original photos dating back to the Civil War, letters, etc. There is even a section of the Berlin Wall and a section of a wall from a concentration camp. This museum looks small from the outside, but we spent over 2 hours looking at everything and probably could spent another 2 hours there if we had read every single thing. We were both very impressed with this collection.

This place is so full of interesting things that a history lover might 'need a minute'. ;) It is a hidden treasure. One thing to know is that it is set up much like a traditional county museum and smaller than most. To us, that kind of added to the experience. It was relaxing, quiet and very low- key. We learned a lot and enjoyed our visit. I will definitely return someday.

Lots of great stuff there, and the tour guide was great! Has pieces from every major war the US has fought in, and has relics from some past presidents. Well worth the price if you're interested in history. I was shocked to hear that they only have 10% of their collection on display due to space limitations! The remainder is in storage.
