First Friday Evenings are free - this is a great time to explore the museum, especially with toddlers.

Deborah Dunlap

Such a unique place with so much to see!

Yvonne Price

A lot of local history and incredible collections from the Webb family. Unfortunately, it was raining the day we went and since all the buildings are spread out over several acres we were soaked halfway through the "museum". There is a shuttle that we saw in the beginning of the day but didn't see again until we had returned to the gift shop area. It would have been much more enjoyable on a nice day.

Mara S.

A beautiful historic site.

Looks lik ed fun if you can afford to drop $80 bucks for a family of 4 to walk around. They advertised free tickets for mother's day, drove down from Sheldon all excited to finally go. No only the exhibits like a giant cluffird dog walking around was free. Some kids projects. I was irritated. Wasted mothers day on a lark. I will never go as a family. "General admission for adults 18 and over is $24; youth 13-17 are $14; children 5-12, $12; under 5 free; Vermonters are $14 for adults 18 and over; $7 for Vermont children/youth 5-17; under 5 free. An adult family pass (2 adults and accompanying children ages 5-17, per pass): $58." That is $58 bucks just to get in for a family 4, plus we have s disabled 18 year old son and we would have to pay the adult price for him too. Looks cool, maybe someday I will go by myself. Considering I can spend th ed day at the MFA in Boston with my family for that price I think it is a bit over the top.

Trevor Resnick

I am fortunate to live close to this excellent museum. I am able to visit several times a year and always bring my out of town guests here. There is so much to see it is impossible to see it all over a weekend. A truly eclectic museum of fine art and folk crafts and everything in-between. They have even expanded and now have special exhibits during the winter months as well as a wonderful gift shop.

Arthur Zawislak

Absolutely incredible place for history loving people. An awesome round barn, real steamship, and so many carriages and antique stuff it took us 2 days to get through it and I am sure we didn’t see it all. Definitely get the 2 day pass!

dofnup

Lovely place, wish I'd had more time to explore it all. Guess I gotta come back

Cindy Pebler

Awesome place to bring friends and family from out of town

Aurora Nowak

I hadn't been there for 10 years. I love the Tike.

Justin James

You need a full day to experience everything, maybe two which your ticket is actually good for, but it is well worth it.

Debbie Baker

Had a great time. So much to see and the weather was perfect. Great way to celebrate my Birthday!!!

Chris Jin

Lots of stuff to see! Very interesting

Dan Brown

Wonderful place to visit. Very informative, lots of variety to the exhibits. I highly recommend it.

Rod Taylor

A museum that you can easily spend 2 days at. Guided tours of the colonial buildings, tour of the TIconderoga ship and Webb museum. The main building is a replica of the Webb NYC apt. Well worth the visit

George Silowash

Interesting museum! Only a few buildings open in the winter. If going in the winter, don't bring the kids as only the painting and art exhibits are open.

Irwin Gordon

Excellent. It is huge.

sandybeach6401

At first I was surprised at the regular admission cost of $25, $23 for seniors. But then I found out there were at least 39 exhibition buildings to check out. PLUS the ticket is also good for a second consecutive day!!! The round barn was filled with old sleighs and carriages. Several buildings held magnificent artworks, including Monet's, Degas' and Manet's. The steamship, Ticonderoga, was FABULOUS!!! An old schoolhouse, and church, stores and homes, a covered bridge, lighthouse, carousel, train and train station, etc... I just couldn't make it through it all in one day! There is a cafe on grounds for food. A shuttle comes around to various stops periodically if you want it or need it. Most of the buildings are handicap-accessible. Magnificent grounds and set up. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. It's a gem of a museum for young and old alike near Burlington that I HIGHLY recommend!

Hartley Smith

The museum is a extra special location for all the family.Every exbihit is gaw dropping and for me (ti the paddle steamer outstanding a treasure to see a 1923 steamer in all its splender)Very good cafe on site and toilets.Make plenty of time for this location as 4 hrs is not enough need at least min 1 day.SHMO

Can't believe it's taken me this long to discover the amazing Shelburne Museum. Despite multiple trips to Burlington this was my first time visiting the museum and I fell in love. Part craftsmanship museum, part art museum, part historic tour through old preserved buildings; it's a great way to spend a day on a beautifully manicured campus.

Shelia Tran

Amazing place filled with American history. Wonderful place for families children young adults. Something very cool and interesting in every building. And the landscaping is phenomenal. Highly recommend

grannybab

Wish I had more time. Fabulous. Art and history all on one.

Relaxing way to view America

Paul Sober

So many different things to see and do in a beautiful setting. A great place to spend a day with kids.

Digichaos

It was a neat place but be prepared to walk. I was mostly disappointed in the high admission fee of 25 dollars per person, definitely not worth it.

Martha Barton-Rivera

One of the most amazing museums in the United States. save two days

Henry Quinn

Great for all humans. They have everything here, in abundance. Unlike any place I've ever been, lovely buildings and flowers and collections and art. We go every year and never run out of things to see. Quilts in particular, and circus paraphernalia are our faves. Go now.

Glyn Wilkinson

A great visit to a fine local museum. Went to the classic car and truck show. I love the vintage trucks.... not one had a back seat!

Lory Scheer

Shelburne Museum is an interesting village with knowledgeable guides. It is self guided with some tours available. There are welcoming guides in each of the buildings that will answer questions. We especially enjoyed the Ticongaroga Sidewheel Steamship tour. We felt like Steve McQueen touring the engine room in the movie The Sand Pebbles. Would like to see the gardens later in the season.

Craig McKay

If you love Americana, American History and American folk and decorative arts then a day spent at this museum is a very well spent day. Indeed, try to allocate 4-6 hours to your visit. The museum understands this as a ticket is good for two consecutive days. If possible plan your visit to coincide with good weather as a visit here is very much a walking tour spread across some 40+ beautifully landscaped acres. Should your feet grow weary you can always take one of the shuttles that circulate the grounds.

Abraham Olshinka

Beautiful place, very nice to visit with kids

margarete nabors

It's a beautiful and interesting place, with surreal collections! We took 2 days for us to visit. Tottaly worth it! Would do it all again...

Chad Mestel

Not what I think of, when I think 'museum.' Numerous buildings with very interesting collections of many things to do with New England life in the 1800's & early 1900's assembled by Electra Webb & her husband. Many old buildings were relocated from around Vermont. Plus, there is the Ticonderoga paddle boat. Also, a great art gallery in addition to her collection of impressionist art. Only had a few hours to spend here. We'll be back to revisit.

Jason Groves

What a beautiful place to walk around

Nikki Duvall

Such a unique museum! Theres so much to see, and it's not like any other museum I've been to. The steamboat was particularly cool, and so were the antique toys and dolls. Lots of interesting collections set inside of historic buildings. The lighthouse building and covered bridge were other favorites.

Katherine Yoder

Truly one of my favorite places in the world. I'm happy to go multiple times a year when I'm able. The special exhibits are always a treat. Impeccable grounds, staff, and exhibits. This place is a treasure!

Carl Thornton

Such a delightful family destination. This collection of buildings, grounds, and artifacts is amazing. You are assured of finding something to fascinate everyone in your group. The restored steam boat Ticonderoga is a must see. I felt as though I walked back a century.

Siobhan Keplin

A must visit if you're in the area. Family friendly, with a great cafe for lunch. So much to see... plan on spending the day!

John Dedell

There is something for everyone here. Great place to spend a day or two.

Winna Heilman

Only got through about 1/4. Huge. Many cool exhibits. Need to go back

Scott Dundas

Different way of presenting American history wrt ordinary people's lives.

Phillip Gioia

Love Electra's place

piggylovesdragon

It's overwhelming in the best way possible. What a fantastic place to spend all of your days here :) ! Something for everyone! Loved it.

Deeleen Sawyer

Wow! So much history in one place. Good balance of art included. Plan to use both days that your admission covers as one day did not do it justice. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. This is an amazing place!

Matthew Ferrell

Incredible museum housing unique collections of everything imaginable: carousel animals, dolls, sleighs, goblets, glass canes, quilts, et al. all housed in historic buildings among beautiful landscaping. Well worth the price of admission.

Kenny and Kristy Dye

Awsome! Need a few days to see everything!

Chris Bailey

If you love history and old buildings this is the place to go. Is amazing what the Uber rich can collect and do with their excess money. The connections are impressive, the grounds are immaculate. You can spend several days looking at everything. Highly recommend spending some time here when you are near by.

James Osborne

Really neat museum. Different than anything we have been to. Be prepared to spend the day and still not see everything.

Larry Gianakis

Great place to visit. The collections were great and they have a steamship! My son is a budding photographer and found so many interesting things to photograph. The buildings and collections are wonderfully preserved. I highly recommend visiting.

Christopher Briere

Great walk about that too the whole day. We could have brought a picnic with us yet we went n tailgated on our truck.

Shaun Senior

Best museum in the state, lots to see and learn

Keith Adams

Great facility! Visited and toured several years ago. Visited this summer, opted not to pay the rather pricey admission, as had seen most of the exhibits before. Worth the first visit (which I recall as a bit cheaper), but not for a repeat.

ShootNWeld Dean

Great place for some history of New England. My Grandparents were the Bessettes who bought the Colchester Reef Lighthouse at auction from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Joseph Mattison

Most interesting museum you could ask for. today was a perfect day to go to the museum. Never boring always changing. Too much to do in one day two day tickets. This is a must see place.

Joe Hannon

Tons of space to walk around. Beautiful grounds, varied exhibits, good discount for the locals. Worth a visit.

Andy Hatfield

Wish I had spent more time there. Great active military discount.

Geda Muraskauskaite

Two days were not enough. Such great collection. Decoy house was outstanding!

Jeremy Parnapy

Just fun! Great people and all around wonderful place that is loved. Lots of new things for the kids!

David Foster

Lots of great historical buildings antiques, covered bridge, and the Ticonderoga!

Andy Velde

Had a good time , it is a good place for kids or anybody to learn some history

Terry HutchinsPierce

Love this place, just can't get enough of all the beautiful things. Thankful that I am able to view them all. You need 2 days to see everything. Well worth the money.

Ellie Clevenstine

ALWAYS a good time. The kids never get tired of this place. Such a great way to experience the history of the area.

Justin C

Great art. The outbuildings are really great. Don't come in the winter as most of the buildings are not open

Fallon Rae Art

Fantastic venue, wish there was a better system for the hills natural drainage

Wayne Geiser

Holy cow! So much to see! Admission includes a second day ... plan to use it. We were there for nearly two full days and there were exhibits we skipped. The highlight was definitely the steamship Ticonderoga. We explored it ourselves on the first day and were advised to take the tour, so we did on the second day. I second the advice - take the tour! The grounds are large enough that they have shuttle buses on a loop. We had lunch in the cafe (good food, but not cheap). There are many places that would make for a wonderful picnic spot (I saw no indication that you couldn't pack a bag lunch).

Ramon Luis Santos

My favorite place in Vermont. I will recommend it to everyone. Don't forget to be prepared. There is a lot to see.

Bonnie Pandohie

Found beautiful stuff there i bought love it

Chester Thompson

Tt tttt the ee is e w try wrong

Sam Lewit

I've been to museums in Manhattan, Paris, Florence, San Francisco, etc. This place beats them all IMO. A mind numbing collection of Americana art and artifacts. You will need at LEAST two solid days to see it all. And there is something for everyone. From horse carriages to Monet, it's right here. Thank you Elektra for being such a great hoarder!

Peregrine White

A village depiction of 19th century. A greater collection of wagons, sleighs, etc than most. A lot of walking, luckily there's a shuttle that travels the outside loop. And someone will pick you up on other paths. Several u-shaped barns, one with a carved circus parade and a full set of carousel animals. Crafts and arts exhibits are amazing.

Scott Bigelow

There's something for everyone. Be prepared to walk .

Paulieon

25 bucks a person. Lots of history to walk through. Beautiful views.

Ryan Smith

What an amazing place for an event. Something for everyone! Louis is wonderful to work with knowledgeable, patient, and helpful.

Glenda Kippes

Maggie McCormick

Great outdoor concert venue. Perfect summer weather makes all the difference.

Kelvin Ordway

They had very interesting exhibit

Bob Keller

Great layout with excellent staff. Very interesting and informative collections. Could have spent considerably more time here.

Victoria Gelmi

Such a large variety of interesting spots! Could have spent all day here...

Henry Danico

We stopped here just by chance as we saw a boat on land where it did not seem to belong. There is so much to see here so plan to spend a good part of the day. You really need to take your time as there are things to see every where. We took sometime to enjoy one of the artistic beaches on a sunny day.

Anna Górska

Lots of interesting sites, old houses, steam locomotive and a boat. To see everything you must reserve at least 4 hours. The ticket for $25 is good for two days. If you come after 3pm the rate goes down from $25 to $15, but it's valid for one day only.

Michael Christopher

Very relaxing environment . Cannot see everything in one day. The surrounding community is an enhancement.

Jean Chris

Amazing place! Not just world class art, but preserved sleighs, a covered bridge, buildings, equipment, and, of course, a steam ship. The only negative thing I have to say is that this is not exactly disability accessible. Some buildings cannot be retrofit, I absolutely get that, but the paths are gravel and it's very hard manovering a wheelchair in gravel. No braille and most things are no touch and no audio. Hopefully they can get some funding so everyone can enjoy this treasure.

Aden Gelmi

Geat place to experience with family, will come back, took 4 hours to walk through the property, well maintained and helpers on site very knowledgeable.

Jim Pollard

Very large and laid out nicely. Staff very nice and helpful.

Chris Brunell

Always love taking the family here

Timothy Lu

Well-worth the cost on an expansive facility. It's like an art gallery, living museum, and exhibition all in one. I recommend going here multiple times to fully appreciate the individual aspects and things on display. If you're in Vermont (where the main attraction is Bernie Sanders' house) and want to go somewhere else, this is a must

Rhonda DeFabritus

A piece of Americana History. So many wonderful things to see.

Pete McCorkle

Great outdoor museum with a whole lot to see. Don't miss the Ticonderoga. Make sure to watch the video detailing how they got it there.

norman peters

What a great place to spend 3.5 hours learning about history. Be prepared to walk a lot but there are shuttles for those that need it.

Danielle Grigg

So much to see, not enough time to see it all. Free on first Fridays 5pm-730pm. Can't wait to go again.

Richard J Naylor

Three art museums, numerous historic exhibits such as a pharmacy, a train, and a sidewheeler steamship, and more.

Trevor Darnell

An amazing place with so many unique items.

Kathryn Gosselin

Best outdoor venue in Vermont. Their summer series are amazingggg!!!!!

Simone Wheeler

Shelburne museum is a must if you are in Burlington area. Every building in this open air museum has it's own exhibition. Have been there many years ago and every time it's wonderful.

Matt Ronco

Fantastic gem of a museum with multiple buildings and exhibits sprawled over beautiful grounds. Was amazed at some of the art on hand that would normally be found in a big city museum. Great place to visit on a beautiful day and plenty of staff to interact with and share their extensive knowledge!

John Kruszyna

Great museum. Very large grounds, lots of great exhibits. Bring water, it is only available in the cafe, no fountains.

tristan dunbar

Great except they don't allow strollers inside....

Kara Bogasky

Great spot for a family with young kids or any history buff.

Brennan Goodin

I mean it's really cool seeing some of the classic stuff it's great and because it's so big walking is great! This place is a two day thing for sure. Just wow for real and the two shops are super cool with the stuff. The boat what a treat for the eyes! It's a must see for sure.

Vin Candela

If you have a chance to visit ALLOW yourself a all day adventure truly fantastic

Harlow Soliman

Exciting and historic places but the gift shop needs Improvement but it is very intresting

Kathleen Franklin

Beautiful gardens and great restaurant. House is fascinating and lovely.

John Crozier

Wonderfully eclectic collection of collections lovingly curated and maintained. A great day out with leisurely walking or ride the cart!

Lisa Perras

Very educational. I learned a lot of history. Don't rush through it. Comes with a two day pass. Must use the next day

Jody DeVoyd-Ross

It was alot of fun. Can't wait to return now that I've had my hip surgery and all buildings are now open.

Karen Sharpless

Very interesting tour

Alicia Simmons

This place! You will not find a more unique and eclectic collection of New England and period artifacts. Horseshoe Barn Annex is my absolute favorite for a ghostly thrill walking past the horse drawn carriages which you imagine could still carry inside their 1800s passengers. The grounds are gorgeous though and the special exhibitions spectacular.

pete henry

A Vermont, Burlington and Champlain "must do". Need a full day or 2 days to see everything. Boat, barn, railroad, homestead, circus, toy & art museums with special Vermont tradition and history. Easily a place to repeat visit.

Bonnie Wingler

Very nice. Loved the renovations to the Ticonderoga. Addition of shuttle service MUCH appreciated.

Nicole Sampson

fun friday free night. Live music and gorgeous fun time!

Adam DeMasi

This is THE repository for American material culture and folk art. If you aren't into decoys and carriages go for the Ticonderoga steam ship !

Sandy Garden

It was very interesting the way they preserved the past. Great place to bring kids to educate them.

Dustin Hargy

Went here with my girlfriend and it was a great visit for us both. Have gone here since I was little and being able to pass on some of the stories and things I did when I came when I was younger was really special. Food is decent but a bit pricey I would suggest either eating before hand or bringing our own food drinks are average priced so not a big deal on that part. The Ticonderoga was the same as I remember but going through it at 6 feet tall was certainly a challenge since last time I saw it I was under 5 feet.

Ethan Ploof

Great place for a concert when the weather is nice!

Bob Joy

What a great place to visit! Let me say this right away, give yourself plenty of time. Please plan on spending the day at the Shelburne Museum. If you can, take 2 days. There really is so much there to take in, a half-day will not do it justice. For me, the Ticonderoga was the highlight. 200 feet of gorgeous ship, a side-wheeler that saw duty in Lake Champlain. The shop is stunning with marvelous woodwork on all levels. The various lounge and dining areas give you the feel of a swanky hotel and made feel like I was on the Titanic at times. There is no danger of the Ticonderoga sinking however. It sits on dry land, a full 2 miles from the beautiful Lake Champlain that it once cruised. Right after going aboard the vessel, take a few minutes to enjoy the video that explains how the Ticonderoga wound up on dry ground, 2 miles from the lake. Fascinating! Make sure you see the long, tunnel-shaped circus building and see thousands of miniature carved and painted figures that make up a circus scene. Of course you won't be able to miss the 1/12 scale circus parade carved over a period of many years. This part of the museum is a study in skill, artistic ability and incredible dedication. Enjoy!

Ruda Chareza

Great!you have to see when you there

Pete Schuster

Really amazing place to explore, lots of variety to see

robert hartling

Fantastic place, well worth the trip !!!!!

Myke Stanton

Amazing. Wish we had more time. The staff was wonderful and it was so amazing.

Matthew Kelsh

Great local and state history exhibits. The grounds themselves bear the very footprints of history.

Fay Howard

I have lived in Vermont all my life and it is the first time coming here. The history here is awesome. Well worth the money.

William Buchanan

Came here with a newborn and found that stollers aren't allowed in any of the buildings, which would be fine if there was stroller parking. Unfortunately there was no such thing and unless you feel like leaving your stroller unattended you are unable to enter most of the exhibits. While this place might be great if you have kids who can walk this place is a total waste of money if you have a stroller.

Kenneth Blacksimus

A museum administrator at reception was incredibly rude to our family for no reason as all. She seems to enjoy being smug and nasty to people. Nice museum but we won’t go again or encourage anyone else to go.

Mandi Chukin

Wow... There is so much to see here. We walked around for 4 hours and still didn't see everything. There are so many unique collections in various interesting locations and everything is so thoughtfully presented and displayed. It's well worth the price of admission.

John Jackson

You can easily spend an entire day here and leave wanting to come back for more. There's too much to see if you enjoy taking your time and really lingering on all the details of things

Emanuelle Côté

Great museum to have a peaceful walk trough all the gardens and buildings. Every building is a noce suprise to discover!

Kristan Payne

Brilliant. We could easily have spent two days. Staff were wonderful. Very interesting. Loved the quilts

Douglas Wands

A unique collection and a memorable experience.

Bob Leidy

The Wegman show alone is worth the admission, but there is so much more!

Pam Ayers

What a cool place! The only complaint I have is that it was a lot of walking on a hot day, resulting in grumpy kids. But the art, history, beauty of this museum is incredible! Something for everyone from a train and a ship to a covered bridge to art made of money.!!

Larry Strickland

Amazing sculptures and paintings. Staff very nice and informative

Chas Anderson

Wonderful museum of Americans. It's eclectic, art, early America, steam engines and a old lake steamer to explore.

Sandi Brown

If I lived here I would definitely be a member. A marvelous venue to visit once or repeatedly. From the covered bridge to the Ticonderoga paddle ship, from the historic buildings to the modern museum there are exhibits, collections and galleries to appeal to everyone. Awesome to do with a family although the food is a bit pricey. We just had a snack to keep us fueled. Situated in the lovely town of Shelburne, the Shelburne Museum should be on everyone’s to do list.

Jack Whitcomb

An exquisite collection of period artifacts.

Rich Carpenter

History of the area is captured in this expansive museum. Lots of docents were eager to answer questions. A trolley tour through the grounds told about the background of buildings along the route.

Adam Brumberg

Our visit was in March before most of the buildings are open but it was still worth the time, especially the Webb gallery of American painters. Lots of interesting paintings well displayed and the info tags are really great. I learned a lot. And the gift shop is actually very cool with lots of great stuff. Looking forward to going back when all of the buildings are open

Sam Blomquist

Beautiful place.

Avi Ghelman

The museum was not fully open for the season when we came. However the visit was fabulous. Very nice exhibition and great walk between the different buildings. Absolutely recommend

Peter van Vliet

25 bucks gets you access to 40+ acres of park for 48 hours. Well worth it. Great art collection including Monet, Manet, a couple of Rembrandt's understudies (I had to double check the artist), a bunch of old timey storefronts including a general store, medical facilities, blacksmith, and a print shop that is still in use. There's also a cool old steam boat, train and station, and lighthouse that was relocated to the park. All are open to the public and you can walk through them. The grounds are large and well kept. It's pleasant to stroll through and great for kids. They have a couple of artsy workshops to keep the kids busy with creating their own art with a guide. In the lighthouse there is air conditioning, places to charge your devices, and couches to sit on if you need a moment. There are bathrooms scattered all over. Also, I believe a good portion of the park is wheelchair accessible, as it has paved paths to all the exhibits. They also have a little shuttle you can hop on and off for free if you have mobility issues. If you haven't gone yet, I highly recommend it. Bring a camera and water. There is a snack bar with sandwiches, cold drinks, coffee, and tea. They also sell art by local artists in the gift shop. If you're from New Jersey, do check out the duck decoy museum, as they have a cool old wooden sneakbox boat and of course, beautiful painted decoys. The guy in the red, white, and blue hat is not a beautiful sculpture, that's just some guy that looks like a beautiful sculpture.

josh langevin

Great place to see Vermont history and bring the kids to learn about history

S S

Outstanding in ALL regards!! They ARE open EVERY day

Donna Kocal

Many interesting things to see. Well cared for. Unbelievable!

OrientEspresso

Spent five hours here today, just an amazing collection of many things.

Terrance Abbott

This can take and should take two days. So many things to see in a pastoral sitting weather was perfect. Well worth the effort. Can't spend two days? Then arrive early and stay late, you won't be disappointed. Notice the picture of the stage coach. Is that coach class seating on top?
