REVIEWS OF Territorial Statehouse State Park Museum IN Utah

Gregory Dayley

Cool old building to walk thru, and the surrounding grounds are nice also. It appears to be hidden in the middle of a city(?) park. It is interesting to read about the federal governments involvement in the Deseret and Utah territories. The museum entrance is in the ADA accessable basement, and they have an elevator to access all the floors.

If you're a history buff, this is one place you'll need to visit.

Lincoln Murphy

I've been meaning to stop by for a while now. There's plenty to see for free outside, but if you want to go in the museum it's $2 per adult, $1 for youth, which seems worth it. It definitely promotes a Mormon perspective on historical events without really addressing any other viewpoint. But the artifacts are interesting enough.

Yvette van Loon

Very nice historical place; definitively worth a visit.

Alan Davies

Actually a cool little Museum. An hour or two is probably all you'll need. But a cool and interesting place to learn about early Utah history. Now, my family comes from this area so it had a little bit more meaning for me and my family, but I think it's a nice place to expose kids and adults to some interesting historic things. There are some very unique historic artifacts inside. Enjoy!

Great place to stretch your legs that is half way between Salt Lake and St George.

Dalit Levy

Interesting facts about the Mormon settlement in Utah.

If you're passing thought Fillmore is a great town to stop and see some small town sites, but you'll want to ask the locals what's going on and where the sites are. The original Utah State capital has several sites including the capital building that are quaint and fun to visit if you want to learn about Utah history. The basement prison is very cool too, both fun and refreshingly cool.

THIS is a magnificent museum of early Utah history!!!! There are events told and explained here that I have not seen anywhere else - not even in school in my Utah history class. I am surprised at the artifacts on display as many are priceless!!!! It is facinating to learn where these came from We very much appreciated and enjoyed our visit. Thank you all who brought this museum together.

I love this place because they don't just give you space to peek into, you can actually go inside the jail cells, bedrooms, and other places in here. They have a cute gift shop with plenty of more educational books, toys, and other stuff. They also do a lot of fun things, like summer camps, festivals, and so on. And it's based on donations, so you can even go for free if you'd like.

This former territorial statehouse is now a museum. Its not a major museum, but certainly worth a visit, especially for residents of Utah interested in Utah's history. I found the hall of portraits very impressive, both in quantity and quality. It's inexpensive and you won't feel overwhelmed by the number of displays. There's also a small gift shop that sells souvenirs and treats. It was a very pleasant visit for us.

The state house is a great way to kill 45 minutes to an hour in your trip through Fillmore. It's rich in history about the foundation of the city and the Mormon pioneers that founded it.

We thought our kids would be bored looking at a bunch of "old stuff," but we were blown away when they started complaining that they couldn't decide which room was their favorite! The museum has a lot of displays about Utah history, local pioneers, and artifacts from life in the early days of settlement. Our kids completed the museums Junior Ranger/Junior Curator program, which kept them focused and interested. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Our only complaint was that it lacked "interactive displays," or anything that kids could touch.

If you have an hour to spare while traveling on Interstate 15 and you love history, make a stop in Fillmore and visit the historic territorial state house! You'll be glad that you did. This is an awesome, well - preserved 19th century relic that provides an up-close feel for the time period, complete with fabulous exhibits and artifacts.

We were looking for a spot to stop to have a coffee and cake, stretch the legs after driving from Bryce Canyon on our way to Salt Lake. Saw this place on the map, glad we stopped here, beautiful area, the park was beautiful to sit in while enjoying a coffee. The public rest rooms were well maintained and very clean. Very much recommend to take time out here.

Steve Phariss

The original UTAH Capital. displays and artifacts tell the story of the efforts to make Filmore, UT the capital. There are several rooms with interesting themed displays of artifacts from the era. The lower levels have photos and paintings of some of the people that settled here.

This is a great place to stop on your way down south to stretch your legs for 30-minutes or so. It’s fun to walk around and see all the history. They also have a nice place to picnic and a large grassy area for the kids to run around and play. Bring a frisbee or a ball to play with.

Gerratt Bethers

Really a great presentation

Kimmy C

We arrived after the museum had closed, but we took a nice stroll around the grounds. There were informational signs posted that still gave us an interesting visit, despite the museum being closed. We walked around the block and found another informational sign at the old school house. If you're coming from the south, keep a sharp eye out for an old "hope house". It'll be on your left just after the bend in the road. Hope houses were the first stage in construction and people would live in these basements with a roof until they saved up enough to build the main/upper floor. Someone's hopes were dashed and this home was never built up. It's an interesting bit of history to see.

Tyler Alldredge

Wade Fowler

Nice place to stop on along the road have a picnic and learn some history.

Linda Brown

I am so glad we came here. Even though I thought I knew the history, we learned so much actually being here in person and seeing this building and reading about the area. It is a fantastic museum to visit snd I saw so many pioneer pictures which cover the walls and maybe found a few relatives, which I will go home and research in my genealogy. The people were so helpful and friendly too.
