REVIEWS OF Temple Square IN Utah

R. L.B.

Beautiful, well-manicured grounds. There are several options for visitors to learn about the people who settled the Salt Lake valley, as well as to learn about the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From visitors centers to the Beehive House, there are opportunities to learn of the history of the early settlers, leaders, and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are representatives from all over the world who can conduct tours in a variety of languages. The Lion House restaurant has amazing rolls, as well as delicious meals and desserts. The Nauvoo Cafe offers made-to-order sandwiches, etc. Temple Square is located in downtown Salt Lake City, where parking can be tricky. The best option is to park at City Creek Mall and then walk to Temple Square (check the mall website for parking prices). Another option is to park under the Joseph Smith Memorial Building - if you eat at one of the restaurants, you can request parking validation. The Conference Center parking lot is primarily for employees and patrons of the Salt Lake Temple - it costs $10 to park there.

The gardens are always meticulously cared for and each year they are a little different (different plants, different color schemes). The missionaries are very helpful and friendly and can answer any questions you have about the grounds, the temple, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints religion. The temple is not open to the public, but you can walk around and admire the exterior of the building and the gardens, there are two visitors centers that contain beautiful art and films and are free of charge. And, it is still beautiful in the winter with the stunning Christmas lights all around the garden and reflection pool areas.

Heather Larsen

Beautiful place with amazing things to see. Two visitors centers and two beautiful tabernacles. Make sure to go across the street to the family history center and the church history museum. Also, the Joseph Smith memorial building usually has some type of movie playing and use to be the hotel Utah so its a fun building to visit. Has two restaurants on the top floor.

Anna Baer

I felt so much peace and love from Jesus while walking these grounds. It was very special. I love how many opportunities there are to learn at Temple Square - tons of resources, visitors centers, missionaries walking around. I parked on the street right by the entrance and it was very affordable, maybe $1-2 for two hours' worth.

Thelonious Linford

Temple square is beautiful. I’ve never been able to live this close to an amazing temple that I can visit as often as I like. The opportunity to just be on temple grounds is an amazing experience and I love it. The missionaries who serve as tour guides are very helpful and very cheerful about their work. The grounds are well maintained, and during the winter season the Christmas lights are absolutely stunning

Amy Bytnar

Gorgeous place. Beautiful flowers. Great place to walk around even if you're not religious.

Guy Chesrown

This is a very historical and amazing place. No matter what your religion is or your beliefs are, this place must be visited when in Salt Lake City Utah. Great restaurants, shop, museums, and lots of activities. Take the whole family and enjoy.

If you are in Salt Lake City, Temple Square visit is a must! It takes you to a different world altogether. There are 220 sisters supporting and guiding the visitors of temple square Mormon church area. They have a history to speak about. If you are there, speak to one of them. They will be happy to assist you and also tell their story. It is really a humanitarian effort that there are beings on earth who is coming forward for these voluntary works with no monetary benefit. I don’t belong to any cult, but it was good to see such people around. It is definitely a different experience!

Christy Tietjen

A beautiful, peaceful place built and maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. There are two visitor Centers, an Assembly Hall, the Tabernacle and the historic Salt Lake Temple. Volunteer missionaries are available to answer questions and give tours in many languages. The grounds are beautiful kept. Christmas lights at night are quite a sight to behold.

Arturo Rodriguez

If you want to have a spiritual experience. Just come here and you'll get it. A place where you can find peace

elliejobama

Beautiful place, clean, amazing atmosphere. Great place to find food and entertainment. Great for a date night or fun time with a family

dtw

Always good to find out more about belief systems different to your own. The cut away temple model is interesting, not what I expected. Never going to convert me, but worthwhile to see.

Prabodh Mishra

Nice place to visit when In Salt lake city. Beautiful architecture and gardens around the square. Must visit the Tabernacle for an organ recital. The visitor centers around carry a lot of exhibits too.

Brian Cook

The most beautiful wonderful experience anyone can be at u feel our heavenly father spirit in all the temples

Camilo Rozo

If you're in Salt Lake City you can't leave without visiting this hot spot. Architecture is beautiful. Grounds are well maintained. Night lighting is incredible. Can't wait until December 2023 when non-members I can go inside the temple for Open House! But until then you only get 4 stars. The facilities are in tip top shape and the attending girls are so nice I almost gave in to getting converted. Might come back for the former.

Steve Branch

What a great and peaceful place to visit. Christmastime or summer time they both have their advantages. With the close and remodel coming soon, it is going to get packed and busier than it already is.

Kellen Giraud

The first weekend in October is a great time to visit. There are a lot of people from all over the world visiting. It was a wonderful atmosphere and a great experience.

Andy Ping

If you're visiting Temple Square, you probably have some idea what it is. The structures are very impressive, especially given that the massive (approx 250,000 sq. ft.) temple was made by pioneers with hand tools and simple machines from 1853 to 1893 (yep, it took 40 years to build). The site is a testament to the positive things faith, dedication, sacrifice, hard work and cooperation can accomplish. Be sure to visit the tabernacle and hear about its construction and acoustics. I've also included pictures from inside and on top of the new Conference Center across the street. It's modern and massive. There are great views from the roof.

Gary Weller

If you are ever in Salt Lake City, you must stop and visit temple square. Beautiful architecture and wonderfully friendly tour guides to show you around and explain the history. Make sure you check out the visitor centers and walk around to see the reflection pool. The view from the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial building and snacks at the Lion's House are also highly recommended.

Andrew

Very beautiful. Has a special feeling. Important place for Utah's history. I enjoyed walking around and exploring the visitors' centers.

Maxwell Belarmino

Certainly one of the most beautiful and pleasant places in Utah, and certainly one of the most sacred as well. In relation to free parking you should try to park in a mall near or in a distant street, because the nearby local streets are always full and the parking is paid. But there is so much to admire and enjoy that it's all worth it.

Michael Sharp

This is a such a beautiful place. I love walking around the grounds any time of the year!

Larry Stegall, Jr.

Temple square is an amazingly beautiful place to visit any time of year. Not to mention being able to feel the spirit because we are on temple grounds.

2012bjr

We loved it! We also toured the conference center and went to the church history museum and Discovery at the family history library. The Church history museum has been remodeled and is wonderful. Many fine art pieces are on display there. Highly recommend!

mohit sharma

Amazing place to visit, don't leave SLC without stopping by, especially to see it all lit up near Christmas time. Absolutely loved it! Would recommend to all my friends.

John Perry

Beautifully landscaped and filled with sculpture that details the pioneers of the Mormon church. A must see regardless of your faith.

Debra Cooney

Me and two others are travelling in Utha, we are enjoying families and temples while we are here. We did some assume history work in the family history Center today. Enjoying

Greg Hancock

Enjoyable place to go if even to just enjoy the grounds. Always interesting people around from all over the world.

Colin Williams

Very well built. The architecture is amazing. Very friendly area.

Jerry Chavez

Beautiful place and just amazing architecture. Didnt get to walk around much but the little I did see was really amazing. Salt Lake City is a beautiful city with great views of the mountains!

cruisin thru

A Powerful place. Love to sit in the old tabernacle and take in the history and people that have been there thru the years. A great place to de stress from the world.

Rodney L Hendricks II

Amazing views, great for learning church history such an awesome place. The buildings art and landscaping are so beautiful. A must see before portions are closed in August '19

William Kirkham

Very, Very beautiful place to visit. There’s always something and somewhere to look at. The people are very kind and generous to take their time for their visitors. The scenery is vibrant and breathtaking. And the organ recitals are also very fun to listen to. 5 star all the way!

M Dorrough

There are so many choices of great things to see and do in the area... but if you do only one cultural/historic site, it really has to be Temple Square. You can walk through and spend only a few minutes, or stay for a day. You can take a guided tour (tour guides are available who speak multiple different languages) or you can wander around and explore on your own. In December, they have the best display of Christmas lights that you will see anywhere. If you happen to be there on a Thursday evening, I recommend dropping by the Tabernacle (in the middle of Temple Square) to hear the Tabernacle Choir rehearse. On Sunday mornings, you can hear the Tabernacle Choir perform as part of their regularl "Music and the Spoken Word" broadcast. There is a wonderful selection of artwork and displays, including the iconic "Christus" statue of the resurrected Jesus Christ. Really, this is not a site to be missed.

Elle Nelson

This place is beautiful! There is an overwhelming feeling of peace on these grounds. I never tire of walking on Temple Square. There is something for everyone of all ages. I enjoy the free concerts in the Tabernacle by the organists and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Diana Gilmore

Temple square is an amazing place! It provided hours of instruction for my family and I. I'm glad I got to visit before construction starts.

Gary Park

Nice building, but stands for lies amongst the people. Many truly believe in the cult deceptions and act accordingly with similar believing members. How a financed facility paid for by many loving, caring people represent something completely different communicates the differences between mormanism and christianity. A temple with high trusts with the locals in believing they too can reach Godhood levels of anything, or participate in one of three potential heavens is very saddening. There is only one God, anyone trying to be, thinking they could be, will be destroyed.

Lowell Boggs

A nice place to visit for an hour or so if you aren't a member of the church. Don't miss the tabernacle organ concerts that start every 15 minutes or so. The buildings are beautiful and gigantic like the cathedrals in europe. The on-site missionaries are very low key and friendly - they aren't pushy. The landscape is filled with gorgeous flowers.

Tracy Taylor

The scenery and atmosphere are amazing. I love the flower arrangements. This is a great place to meet up with people and just relax. They also offer free tours. I was also amazed how friendly the staff was. The location is also easy to get to by train or bus.

Nikki Marie

Majestic in every sense of the word. My son and I made a stealthy stop here yesterday to pay tributes to an incredibly special ancestor of ours. Even though we probably looked like sore thumbs in the humble crowds, we were still treated as welcomed guests by all whose paths we crossed.

Richard Nance

Best place on thec earth to visit. Especially if you've a current recommended. Closing for renovations end of 2019!

Sean Porter

The grounds are astoundingly beautiful, and there's so much to see. It's a great place to learn about the history of the pioneers who settled the valley, or take in the beauty of the temple.

Ryan Mitton

The grounds here a amazing, the fountain is pretty cool as well. There are lots or guides that are willing to give great tours so you can find out more about this place. Also there are a lot of exhibits you can go to on your own that arnr in the temple.

Quincy McKinney

Temple Square is beautiful, rich in history, and very peaceful. Every time I go i feel uplifted and my faith is strengthened.

Sherri Clark

What is there to say about Temple Square? The temple is a magnificent structure, the guides are sweet and amazing, you can often hear the tabernacle choir practicing there. The gardens are exquisite and the little young missionaries scurrying around to help anyone are just so accommodating, knowledgeable and sugar sweat while never rushing you and able to answer your every question, if they can’t they will get someone who will. Sherri and Ron Clark

Robert Bastian

Very family oriented place to bring a family and learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. They have the Tabernacle choir singing in the conference center and then food places nearby if you're hungry. Beautiful buildings and very peaceful.

Curtis Morley

There is such an amazing spirit of peace and calmness here. This is beautiful. Make sure to go into the visitor center and watch some of the films. Go into the Tabernacle and literally hear a pin drop from 100 yards away. Learn the fascinating history of the early saints and find out who your ancestors are with the family history center. There is so much to do and see here and even more importantly there is so much to feel here.

picklegirls

This place is great. I especially love the winter time because they put lights up in the trees and it is beautiful. The area is family friendly and is centered around a lot of different things such as City Creek and news buildings.

Octavio Rubio

Awesome place to visit. I definitely recommend to check out one day if you haven't. Cool architecture and landscaping. Friendly people and helpful. Surrounding area is beautiful as well. Very educational if you're into learning about new things.

Danyon Greymoon

I'm myself are not personally LDS. However I've been to Temple square and I have to say that I'm very impressed. a lot of people will probably tell you that this place is amazing and I can't disagree. The whole area is very serene and peaceful in the middle of a rather bustling city. As soon as you pass through the gates the sound of the nearby streets and cars cease to exist. There are a lot of great artworks here in the paintings, the architecture, and the landscaping. Not being part of the church there is also an air of mystery here, I have to say that it makes me curious to know more about LDS and conveniently there are many friendly people here who were willing to tell me about that as well as a whole museum dedicated to the history. Also it's probably the best spot in the city for Pokemon Go.

Kristina Petersen

This place is beautiful! There is an overwhelming feeling of peace on these grounds. I never tire of walking on Temple Square. There is something for everyone of all ages. I personally enjoy the free concerts in the Tabernacle by the organists and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Andrew D

Absolutely beautiful. The feeling here is special and everyone is super kind. I HIGHLY recommend viewing the live recording of Music and the Spoken Word Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in the Tabernacle.

Alexander Berryhill

Everything there was beautiful. They have a lot of guides, they know a lot about the church. The visitors center when I went was a little crowded, but there was a lot of history and beautiful artwork. The temple is a lot bigger up close and the history and sacrifice behind it is amazing. It was an amazing experience.

Javier Rivera

This place is amazing... the sheer size of the square would leave you in awe! Unfortunately, you can’t go into the temple, but the model gives you a glimpse inside. The mural within one of the buildings (pictured) is stunning! A must visit

Jeanette Pressley

What a beautiful place to visit and spend some time! We walked around the temple, the visitors center, museum, watched the videos, and just enjoyed the square. If you are there in the winter, stop by the cafe in the joseph smith memorial building for some hot chocolate! The sister missionaries are very helpful to give information or answer questions.

Alisa Rosner

I love visiting Temple Square. It's a square of peace in the middle of an often busy city. The volunteers are friendly and helpful, the grounds are well-kept and beautiful, and the visitor centers offer some great information on the Mormon religion and history. This is a worthwhile destination to visit.

knowltk

If you are a Mormon, you already know about Temple Square. In fact, if you were ever in Salt Lake City, you surely already visited Temple Square. Everybody else should also go for a visit. Temple Square is a 10 acre complex, named for the Temple which was dedicated in 1893. The Temple is reserved for religious services and there are no public tours. The other buildings have either tours and/or you can visit on your own. You don't even need to go in any of the buildings since the grounds and the buildings exteriors are all beautiful. One note, be prepared to be greeted by missionaries, but don't worry, they are very friendly and helpful.

Hyrum Spendlove

Temple square is a very nice place to see, especially during Christmas time. The salt lake temple looks very nice and it is just a good time to walk around temple square. It is very cool you should go there, five stars

Rebecca Whitney

Temple Square is beautiful and there's so much to do! It's a peaceful place to go relax, grab a bite to eat, or explore.

Paul Lemmon

I always love visiting Temple square. It is so peaceful and beautiful, it's like walking in the gardens of your dreams and every time I go, I feel so close to my heavenly father. Such a wonderful place to take visitors and family. If you're looking at a great way to spend sometime being uplifted and feeling the spirit, this is definitely a must see!

Anell Gibelyou

The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, the people open and friendly. There is a spirit of love and acceptance which comes from the Savior, Jesus Christ, that permeates everywhere within Temple Square.

Curtis Lipe

Beautiful. Cleanest place you will ever see. Two great visitors centers well staffed to provide any information you require.

Daniel Aaron

Beautiful garden with lots of monuments to get a history of Mormonism. Wonderful views and good walkways. Would recommend visiting if in salt lake City. Close to the main downtown city center to

Ram Padte

Beautiful historic monument to visit while you are in salt late city. Surrounding is clean. Magnificent piece of art right in the middle of the city. Parking is available on the street and if you are lucky you migjt find a spot. There seems to be a parking garage, but i never found it.

Madeline Bazzle

Go up to the top level of the Joseph Smith memorial building to get a cool view of temple square. Great tourist spot.

Rachel Martin

It is a regularly visited, traditional spot for many reasons. It is absolutely beautiful, and with missionaries available who speak such a variety of languages it is usually a very simple thing to find someone to talk with if you have questions. So much history and cultural info as well as the religious significance.... always a go-to spot!

Drace Salt

A place of solitude and peace. Very friendly staff without persistence to join them. Grounds are in immaculate condition

Mike Glad

The grounds are wonderful and the temple is inspiring. Visitor centers are clean and neat, and full of information. The sisters are always happy and willing to answer any questions.

Nathan Shepherd

Beautiful place to visit. A must if you are in Salt Lake. Feel the love of the Savior in the visitor center. See the temple that took over 40 years to build by the hands of poor devoted pioneers who showed their love of God in building his home on earth. Also the tabernacle is an architectural wonder. Plus visit many other amazing buildings in ans around temple square.

Colton Walker

I know that Jesus Christ was resurrected and that He lives and directs the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today, through modern prophets and apostles. I also know that the bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. I am so grateful for the gospel and that my family and I can be together for all eternity. My family and I loved our visit to Temple Square!

Tai-An Lugo

If you visit Salt Lake City you must add Temple Square to you list of thing to do in Utah. I recommend to go at sunset time and night. It is just stunning at night. The guards are around Temple Square to make not body enters it. But can walk in the grounds. The water fountain outside the flowers around lake the experience even better. You can also visit the Visitor Center right by the ground of Temple Square to learn more about the history. Enjoy it your visit and my pictures!

Derek Poole

An amazing experience for both believers and non- believers. If you have some time educational guided tours are available every half hour. But if your short on time the vistors center is a great place to start. No matter where your at on these grounds you will feel the spirit.

Erika Dominguez

I absolutely love temple square. The history is wonderful. The building are beautiful. And you can feel peace no matter how many people there are around you. There is magic in every season at temple square.

Karen DeMattio

Historic place. Go inside the visitors building and get a quick history lesson. A must is where you're in the tabernacle ask someone for the acoustic pin drop. It'll blow you away

Javier Benitez

This place is wonderful and has free options galore. It is by City creek mall so you can do some shopping if you’d like. So many fun things to do great place to take kids.

James Straka

It was a really nice day and we walked all around Temple Square. I always wanted to hear the pipe organ in the Tabernacle and we heard a 30 minute session . We also had a very nice lunch at the Nauvoo Cafe in the Joseph Smith Building. The two visitors centers are excellent. Worth the visit.

Connor Schurr

If you haven't gone to Temple square yet, don't wait. Go right now. This is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the entire world. So peaceful and nice. The people are super helpful. They love answering questions.

Forrest Smith

We love love love to go to Temple square. It doesn’t matter the season or time of day we have a fantastic time enjoying the peace that comes from attending this beautiful place. If you are visiting Utah, this is a must see location no matter what your faith, you will find peace here. Highly recommended. If I could I would give more stars...

Alma Reyes L

We love Temple Square, you can feel a very amazing spirit and you can feel so peaceful and calm. I love to know that you can find a Temple of God and the visitors center to get to know more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know it is a life changing experience and if you are in Utah it is a must to come to Temple Square and experience by yourself the connection and communication you can stabling with God

Kelly S

U feel the spirit whether ur a member of this church or not. There is a peace & reverence while walking around. I plant my flower gardens according to what they are planting because it's always beautiful.

Mystie Dragonfly

Growing up in Ohio, I was taught (in high school) the history of Mormonism. So getting to see it was exciting. The park is beautiful and well kept. The helpers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Sadly I didn't get to stay long, but enjoyed what I did get to see.

Nathan Corry

Fantastic location for many things. It is iconic, historic, and beautiful. The gardens and artistic landscaping are amazing. It is also right next to City Creek mall which is always bustling with activity. My favorite time of the year to visit is during the spring, when the tulips are blooming, but they have flowers almost all year.

Heidi Mabunga

I love this place so much. Even if you are not a member of the church this place can be so special. The artwork and the architecture is amazing. The best thing is to take the tours. You learn so much and the sister missionaries are so nice. I love to just be on the square. There is a great spirit there of peace and happiness.

Richard Kear

Wonderful atmosphere. Easy access. Great reminder of our pioneer heritage.

Nadine Willis

Worth visiting for history whether you are Mormon or not. Free tours of the grounds every half hour except on Sundays. Tour guides are knowledgeable and are from all over the world.

Whitney Whetten

There is so much to see and do and learn while you're here. There are many museums, tours, and missionaries ready to help you. Especially make sure you hear the organ performances or go to Music and the Spoken Word if you're there on Sunday!

West Heugly

This is a peaceful place to go and just think. The buildings are beautiful and the people are friendly. In the winter season they light up the trees and it's just amazing.

Rachel

Beautiful, manicured gardens, well-maintained grounds. Peaceful place to walk around day or night. There are tours in almost any language during the day. At night the temple is illuminated with lights. Stop by and see a film, or get lunch at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, or tour the Visitors Center with the Christus statue. Visit on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm and hear the Tabernacle Choir practice. Very kid- and ADA-friendly.

Lydia K

Temple square is beautiful and full of history. If you're in the area it's definitely worth a visit to see the spectacular architecture and if you're so inclined learn a little about the LDS Church's history and current activities. The Salt Lake temple took 40 years to build and is an astounding example of dedication as reflected by the impeccable craftsmanship. It is in-use by the church and not open for public tours, but viewing it from the outside is still worth the trip. Plus, you can tour many of the other church buildings on Temple Square, including the old Assembly Hall, the iconic Tabernacle, the Conference Center, and a few others. Please note, while I was there they shared that the temple will be shutting down at the end of 2019 for extensive renovations, after which the temple will be open for public tours for a period of time before it is re-dedicated. All activities and events at Temple Square are completely free. Including "Music and the Spoken Word", a 30 minute broadcast from the old Tabernacle which occurs every Sunday at 9:30 AM. I was able to attend and enjoyed it immensely. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is phenomenal, and on the day I visited (Easter Sunday), they also had bells, trumpets, and an orchestra. Seeing the "behind the scenes" view of the production was also enjoyable. If you want this experience, just show up to the tabernacle by 9:15 Sunday Morning and find a seat to enjoy the free performance. (Note, during certain times of the year, I understand the performance is moved into the conference center to accommodate a larger audience, so be sure to check the website for specific details).

shravani R

Loved being here. The temple area is so peaceful and calming. We walked around the temple area in the evening.Beautifully landscaped with flowers and lots of trees. Visited the historic Tabernacle. Absolutely spectacular. There is so much to see and learn when you're in the temple grounds.

Keith Blackshear

Very interesting! I think it's a must-see for anyone visiting the Salt Lake City area. Beautiful architecture, a little taste of history and a little knowledge on a religion I know very little about.

Manuel Ortiz

Temple Square is absolutely a must see if you are visiting Salt Lake City. You can't go inside the temple if you are not a Mormon, but there are many other areas you can visit. The temple is a beautiful structure and incredible architecture with amazing details. There are also beautiful waterfalls and lots of nice lawn areas with beautiful flowers to enjoy. The volunteer missionaries offer tours in many different languages at no coat so take advantage of that.

Nick Jolliff

This is a must to do when you're in Utah. It's a iconic place with so much history. It's become a large tourist attraction but the temple is ready to accommodate. There are plenty of guides around that are more than happy to show you around and give tours and answer questions. They are patient and helpful. The conference center is an incredible building and I highly recommend taking a tour. The temple itself is set to undergo renovation, so you may want to see it soon before all that starts.

Stephen J. Lautenschlager

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah is a very welcoming member and visitor location. The grounds are visually interesting to walk through and the Visitor Center is very informative to tour when you are in the Salt Lake City area. The architecture of the Temple and surrounding buildings is visually inspiring, especially during early morning and late evening hours when the towers and pinnacles are illuminated. The visitors center is open to all and is very informative for the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Jennifer Gates

I love to see the Temple!

Brooke Nelson

It has beautiful buildings and the temple is gorgeous. There are many activities tondo like listening to the Tabernacle choir sing.

Korin Johnson

Love the feeling I get here, peace, happiness, joy, love! Everyone needs to come here, it's a must!! Everyone is welcome here at Temple Square!

Jake Avery

A very peaceful place. There’s a lot of shade, free musical performances are often taking place and plenty of missionary tour guides can answer questions and give directions. The visitor centers are clean and have a lot of interesting information about Bible and Utah history. Everything was absolutely free.

Gwendolynn Taula

Beautiful Gorgeous view of temple and statues of our prophets. Feeling loved and closer to our heavenly father. Love my savior!

sourcecodexjp

Worthwhile visit to the mecca of Mormonism. I found it odd that all the Mormons greeting and guiding visitors were young women. They all had the same smile and seemed a touch mechanical in their behavior. Why there were no young men to help visitors is a mystery to me. For the record, I am not a Mormon.

Jane Bahr

We found a problem that we thought the manager needed to know. We were not expecting anything however the manager slipped a note and a gift card under the door for us. A very pleasant surprise. We ended up staying an extra night they were happy to give us the same rate. Breakfast offered was one of the best I have had at a hotel. Thanks Best Western.

Maria Cameron

This place is beautiful and we really enjoyed roaming around the meticulously manicured lawns and looking at the flowers. It was lovely with some foundations and a beautiful reflecting pound around the "castle" building. We were able to see the Tabernacle Choice practice and spoke to some friendly missionaries who were around.

Ericka Gilliland

Such a fun place to come visit, especially around Christmas! There are tons of lights and plenty of photo opportunities. They also have a narrated Nativity scene and caroling. It is the perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit. The LDS Temple is located here, it is beautiful to look at, even if you are not a member of the LDS Church. The grounds welcome everyone from all religions. A lot of interesting history here if you are into that kind of stuff. The missionaries are very kind. If you have any questions, they are a great resource.

Spencer Collier

There is so much to do here. From exhibits in either of the 2 visitors centers, walking the beautifully maintained grounds, the amazing architecture of the Temple, tabernacle, and assembly hall, to the smiling faces of almost everyone there. My daughter and I enjoyed a full day in and around Temple Square and we will be doing it again someday soon.

Miriam Tracy

Wonderful place to visit either for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or for those interested in knowing who the Saints really are. Perfect for all ages, spend the day or just an hour and see one of the sites. Missionaries will explain as much or as little as you would like to hear. Peaceful, calm, welcoming.

Jerry Capson

Attended a temple session. Go early as sometimes it can be busy. We went to overflow parking. The session was full with missionaries from two missions attending. That said, the session was wonderful! A wonderful spirit was present and we were excited to see the temple before the scheduled renewal. It is a sacred place that allows those who visit inside or outside to feel the Spirit of the Lord.

rockstrr3

Seeing the lights during Christmas time is always a tradition. If you haven't seen the lights, it is a absolute MUST! You don't have to be religious, or anything to appreciate the beauty of the Christmas lights here. I would also recommend the wait to see the huge Christ statue. It is really a cool thing to see.

Paije Peck

Temple Square is the perfect place to go for knowledge about Salt Lake City and about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not only that, but it'll bring anyone who visits closer to God and Jesus Christ and provide a wholesome, meaningful family experience. I grew up close to SLC and I loved seeing or visiting Temple Square on a very regular basis. Never disappoints!

Beth McClellan

There are free tours available here for those who would like information about the buildings, history, visitors centers, beautiful gardens, etc. It is a very peaceful place with places for pondering, or you can just enjoy a walk through the gardens, trees and fountains. At Christmas time the trees and bushes are covered in beautiful colored lights. It is a must see if you are in SLC!

Madison Sprague

Beautiful gardens to stroll through, it's worth it just for that. If you enjoy architecture, or religious history, you'll enjoy the walk. It was a bit disappointing that there wasn't any information posted, and the temple isnt open to the public. That is totally understandable, but I wish it was less advertised as a tourist attraction.

Peace of mind and a natural calm comes to me when here. I know when I. Feeling really sad I can come here, it's pretty. Smells fantastic, and even dressed as a bum the people will let you sit, unwind, clear your heart and mind, and if your lucky, someone will sit down with you. They don't always say anything, and it's not because they don't want you there, it's just in case you want to talk. They are great people. They care

Beautiful place. Very peaceful feeling. You can learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. (Mormons)

Temple Square was amazing. They have free tours and the people there are so nice. Really nice gardens and they were setting up christmas lights. This place is incredible. Food nearby. Underground parking and shops close by. They had a free music thing going on while I was there. Real impressed. Great for family and friends. Highly advise seeing the christmas lights. Free rides from airport to Temple Square for tours sweet people running the tours. 10 out of 10.

I am not the most religious man in the world but I am very spiritual and I felt at peace when I came here, it was absolutely beautiful here. The landscape to the architecture here was amazing and you can feel as well sense the proudness of how Utah feels about their religious upbringing. It has something for everyone even kids would love to see this place. I definitely will be back and I hope to see it sometime during the Winter time when it lit up!

Maddie Dewnsup

A wonderful place to visit. There is plenty to see and do! Christmas time is amazing to see all the lights.

This is a great place to escape the hustle of downtown Salt Lake. Everyone is welcome to tour the grounds and buildings at Temple square but you have to have a Temple recommend (permission from church officials) to go inside the Temple. They have a visitors center, a conference center, tabernacle, church history center and family history center. The gardens are beautiful and in the visitors center there is an impressive sculpture of Jesus Christ. If you want to know more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you can watch a movie at the visitors center or talk with the missionaries. The family history center has a really fun interactive media room where you can find out if you are related to anyone visiting the center or famous people throughout history. During Christmas time they set up an amazing light display and nativity. You can find great food at the Lyon House just outside Temple Square.

From Oakland, California to Salt Lake City, Utah, I always enjoy the view of the Temple in Salt Lake City, especially when walking on the Temple ground. Many young men and young women as well as senior couples volunteering at the site will be happy to guide me through the tour. They are very welcoming and friendly people.

What an amazing place to sit peacefully and think about the love God has for each of his children. It's such a contrasting atmosphere to the surrounding streets and busy world. 10/10 would recommend.

Mariona Farnsworth

The history of this beautiful temple is unremarkable. Learning that it took the pioneers 40 years to build this temple makes me appreciate it's beauty so much more. They missionaries were very helpful and the spirit is so nice on these holy grounds.

Bert Victor Israelsen

Very peaceful and beautiful. The missionaries are very helpful and informative. Willing to answer any questions. If you need a language other than English...ask and they usually have a Sister that can speak in your native tongue.

Thomas Hatch

Visiting Temple square is an amazing experience. You'll be able to not only see architectural wonders hand what is perhaps the most beautiful building in the Western United States, but make sure that you take the opportunity to listen to the missionaries and learn a little bit more about the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. Learning how to come closer to the Savior Jesus Christ has been one of the most fulfilling and beautiful experiences of my life.

Carol Noyes

Amazing , interesting ,beautiful grounds, convenient underground parking, a delicious lunch behind the Beehive House and the highlights hearing the organ music for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Family History Center. The people are so helpful there. A must see, no matter what your background is.

Tom Wing

Historical location. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Tour the Tabernacle and visitors center if you can.

Giovanna Zahler

Enjoyed spending time with the youth of our ward/church subdivision at the temple today. Blessing the lives of those who are in the other side. ❤️

Maggie Momeyer

Amazing place to visit and learn the Mormon history. It is hard to believe that such a beautiful spot is in the middle of a downtown. There were 25 weddings going the day we visited. Organized chaos!

Linda Bunyan

Fantastic place to just walk around. Most welcomed inside too. Fine music. Not to be missed!

Damon Tighe

Architecturally and culturally really interesting and beautiful during fall colors. Area is well lit at night.

Steve Hanson

Clean and beautiful year round. Spring and December are the best times to go. The free concerts on Fridays are always special. This is a great place to walk around before or after dinner at one of the many great places to eat within walking distance. Riding Trax is free for a few blocksbin this area. It’s a family tradition to see the holiday lights and grab a cup of hot chocolate at the Joseph Smith Memorial building. Whether you are religious or not, this is a special place.

Cole Checketts

The gardens and flowers are extremely well done and cared for. It's a cool oasis from the city. The buildings are all really neat to look at as well. The old style arcatecture is amazing. Nobody makes buildings like this anymore.

Benjamin Cummings

A great place to take kids or visit on your own. Beautiful grounds with superb landscaping, and they have tours you can take as well. Free tours of Temple Square, the Conference Center, and the observatory deck of the Church Office Building, which I believe is the tallest building in Utah. We found out the observatory deck closes at 4 pm, but you have to be there no later than about 3:30 pm so that you have time to go up view before 4 pm. All said, it's a great place to visit for anyone!

McKenzie Sacry

Absolutely beautiful! It's right in the middle of downtown SLC. Easy access to restaurants and shopping at City Creek Outdoor mall. I'm always amazed at how meticulously maintained the grounds are! ♥️

Mark Reed

Really enjoyed meeting young people from all over the world who are serving their mission here. In less than an hour, we spoke with friendly and enthusiastic youths from Germany, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, and even the United Arab Emirates.

ashwini ashu

We had been to this place around 7 in the evening on a weekday. Its calm place but but crowded. It is kind of peaceful.

Aneeqa Sajjad

Love to see the Salt lake Temple and the Faith of pioneers how had so many Sacrifices but still shows there Faith and Love by building the house of the Lord.

Jennifer Jones

Beautiful! Listened to the choir! Worth the visit! Restrooms not super close. Over all..... Loved it!

Susan Forsgren

A quiet, peaceful place in a busy city. Wonderful missionaries take you on tours or answer any questions you might have. If visiting Salt Lake do not miss this unique place.

Nathan Bryant

Beautiful! The church does a great job of taking care of the grounds. Lots of things to do and learn about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Stxne Lx

Amazing lights during the Christmas! Tours are very detailed and it’s just a wonderful place to take a stroll.

Andrew Cates

Wandered through the temple square while visiting the city. Lots of unique and impressive architecture and well tended and manicured landscaping. Very serene and beautiful. You definitely feel the religious calm in the air, if that makes sense. Like when visiting a Gothic cathedral, etc. Wish I had more time to explore but might be able to go back one day.

Candy Domination

This place was awesome. I honestly didn't expect it to be so huge when I walkedpast the wall. And it's quite easy to get to and find parking since this is located downtown. I suggest to check this place out asap. I've been told by multiple people this place will be closed to the public by the end of this year because they're going to be doing some renovation. Said it'll about 4-5 years for it to be completed. Get while the getting's good. Side note: you can't go into the actual temple, but everything else is free game. I suggest check out the church (the round shaped one) sometimes the choir or band will be having rehearsal and you can sit down and have a listen.

Brett Nordquist

Great place to see the holiday lights. But man, I tried to join the club in order to go inside the temple and had to agree to give 10% of my income for life to the Mormon Church. This is the most expensive club ever! The Mormon church sends the best looking sister missionaries here so plan to be impressed but don’t ask questions about seer stones, the Kinderhook Plates or the teenage polygamist brides the founder, Joseph Smith, took for himself behind the back of his wife, Emma.

Drew Walton

As far as religious buildings go its pretty good. Nothing like what the Catholics have built though. Muslims and Sikhs and Buddhists all have grander places as well. But the Mormons do try and they are by in large very nice people

Keesha Rich

Had absolute fun at the free block party with my toddler. We had such a great time. Every time we come to Temple square it's always a great experience whether it's to view the Temple lights or enjoy the beautiful scenery of the grand Temple, it's a sight & experience to behold. I hope my kids enjoy it as much as I do. It truly is amazing. The architecture & all the truly happy people surrounding it. I'm not Mormon but I truly love seeing the Temple and how neat it is.

Suraj Dagar

One of the best place to visit in Salt Lake City, it's hard to find a place there during business hours. Well maintained park and fountain inside the building. In the night lights looks beautiful. Awesome decorations during Christmas time.

Alex Robinson

You have to be a worthy member of the Church to enter the Temple. It's worth being worthy to enter. It's an amazing place to worship, perform saving ordinances for yourself and your ancestors, and to learn. Those who are not members can enjoy Temple Square and the visitor centers. There's no charge for visiting. There are missionaries who can answer questions about the Church. There's also some amazing artwork and a beautiful statue of Jesus Christ in the North visitor center.

Eric Cleveland

It's really beautiful and interesting to see for anyone of any Creed. The exhibits are informative and the missionaries are kind and interested to take you through a tour. All Free.

Dan Mosman

Beautiful place to walk around midday. Impressive architecture complimented by a backdrop of open sky, right in the heart of slc. Charming to change of pace.

Eric Heffner

Very nice, clean neat and orderly. The people who worked at the visitor's center were very very nice. You can go inside the church but they have a model in the visitor's center
