Neat history in Fredericksburg.
Super interesting museum. Lots to see.
Very nice museum. I learned a lot about the founding of Fredericksburg. The buildings are well-displayed. The price is reasonable. I spent an hour here.

Great tour, very informative. Hostess in gift shop was very sweet.
Great history lesson.
Great place to learn a portion of Fredericksburg's rich history
Great, great experience. The museum starts with a short "movie" explaining the arrival of settlers of German descent. A walking tour allowed us to navigate at our own leisure all of the historical buildings.
Very nice
Very Interesting. Lots of history to see, no real wow factor, but it was a good time

Very Nice and Friendly, Good tour interesting history. Worth a Visit especially with kids
Great museum - learned a lot about Fredericksburg that I didn't know (for being a native Texan). Really liked the short video about the German settlers and also liked the auto-recordings in each bldg - really made it nice. Was also nice they offered free use of umbrellas since it was raining!!
Cool museum with several historic buildings and audio narration by ancestors of the original owners. Very sweet and helpful lady working front desk.
Great to learn about the German heritage here. Worth the visit.
Full of history and a great representation of early Texas life.
This place is incredible. We live in Kerrville were visiting Fredricksburg for the day and just happened to find it on the list of fun things to do and this should definitely be in the top 5! The history behind the town is incredible, original buildings from when the town was built back in the late 1800's, and my 2 kids loved it as well. This is a perfect place to plan a few hours around while visiting Fredricksburg. A must stop location and an absolute hidden gem!
Living History. Beautifully arranged houses and buildings. Perfect place to understand german settlement in Texas.
Really neat little museum!
Great local history and good exhibits with restored homes and blacksmith and other period buildings.
Super friendly staff. Loved the experience.
Must visit for those seeking out the story behind the German Texas settlers. Original buildings ans artifacts curated by knowledgeable and welcoming Historic Society staff.
Had a great time. Was very happy to visit this place. Learned a lot.
Wonderful place, beautiful and informative.
What a great place to learn the history of the Pioneers of Fredericksburg. You can actually go inside the 1800 houses with interactive speakers. Great tour and very affordable prices.
The video was very informative and it was nice to tour actual historical homes. I had a great talk with the museum shopkeeper.
Great history. Gained a lot of knowledge and insight to the pioneer days.

Had a great time visiting the museum and learning. Thank you
You don't feel rushed as you wander from building to building and look at all the amazing antiques and listen to piped-in narration in each building. The video of tge immigration of Germans to Texas was very interesting, as well.
Very cool!!
Very informative and good layout to keep interest
The museum is very well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The exhibits are informative and cover a wide range of history. Worth the admission price to visit.
Went on class trip. Was fantastic.
Very interesting. Several homes and buildings furnished as they would have been in past with informative speakers playing in each room.
Nice and well kept. Good historical place to visit
Very good information about the WW2
Wonderful, educational and fun!
Great exhibits. Through all of their exhibits and buildings, you get a very clear picture of the life of the settlers of Fredericksburg. Worth the small price of admission.
Nice museum that includes the Fredericksburg visitor center.
Great place
Very interesting to see the town's history. Very kind employees as well.
Really good place to see an learn. Free
Too many people to look at overpriced antiques and stuff from China in Their town
Great introduction to how Germans settled this area and the hardships they endured. Buildings were open and showed how folks lived and their tools and furniture. Nice 15 minute film.
Great history education about Fredericksburg.
A great place to visit and learn the history of Fredericksburg.
Fun, a lot to learn
Very nice exhibits, good history
Great.
Very well done. Nice concise history.
Sexy
Enjoyed all the information and displays at this museum
Very informative, well worth the visit.
Ours was a very nice visit. The museum is a very well assembled and maintained wealth of local history and artifacts. Enjoyed it.
Very good Museum
Went for the singing tree program. It was fantastic. The people handing out the drinks and food were very sweet and kind, Santa and Mrs Claus were greeting people at the gate. It was an all around awesome experience.
Interesting place with lots of history.
I thought the museum did a great job telling the story of the early settlers of Fredericksburg. Very family friendly, although strollers are difficult to get in and out of the exhibits. I’d say it’s a must see if you plan on visiting this town.
Great stop.
Loved the place and the history here. Took a tour with a group.
Really a lot of history and old tools of their trade, glad we got to see it.
Good photo opportunities of 1800's farm equipment and buildings.
Neat little place. Is a must see
Very nice people and very helpful
Very nice collection of homes and businesses from the mid 1800's. Military discount available.
Nice way to get a feel of how the pioneers lived. If you don't rush you'll get through in 20 or 30 minutes. I thought it was worth it.
Nice collection of pioneers living. They didn't have it easy.
A great collection of antiques but a more important story of the history of the area. I highly recommend taking your time to enjoy.
Interesting place that capture some of the feeling of what it must have been like living on the edge of civilization. The best time to go is during spring break when they do re-enactments all week long.
Workers and volunteers were so friendly and informative! Really enjoyed our time there learning about the history of the area. Highly recommend.
Love the German history of this museum. Take the tour and enjoy the past.
I really enjoyed it but I do love going to museums
Excellent place to learn about the history of Fredericksburg
This is a cheap spot to stop by and learn how people lived back in the time that the Germans settled in this area. The video is a great place to start to give you a great idea of the area and time before you explore the rest of the grounds. All of the people there were very knowledgeable. The last working the counter interacted with our kids very well. Even taught them some German! It's not a "must see" but it is still a fun and informative stop for a pretty cheap price. It's a good starting point for your Fredricksberg trip.
Great place to learn about German history in central Texas.
Actually I cannot grade this museum since I arrived on Sunday to visit it and it was closed
Pretty cool place. History in the gift shop too if you don't want to pay the museum admission, don't have time, or it's too hot.
We had a wonderful time, staff was kind and answered many of our questions on the pioneer lifestyle.
Nice little museum showing the early life and history of Fredericksurg
Awesome place. Love the history.
Every interesting. Spent 2 hours goung through the little village
Fantastic exhibits that will take you back in time
Nice tour seen some cool old houses.
A lot of local history. The gift shop and one house has heat/AC. LOTS of old thinks to look at.
Pretty neat stuff in there
Amazing place to learn about the history of Springville. Beautiful history very worth your time to go inside. Free, no cost for admission but give a do ation if you can.
Nice time for whole family and educational about pioneer days. 3 yr old and 13 yr old loved it
Very interesting displayed of actual living conditions. Being able to actually walk into frontier homes and see and feel the size gives you an appreciation of what life was like. Best part was that we learned that these settlers had the same family name as ours even though we were from another part of the country.
Great place to go lots of historical info.
My husband and I love this spot! It's such a fun visit - be sure to chat with the ladies inside for great stories of old Fredericksburg, before heading outside to see all the cool buildings. You can tour the collection of family houses, a Sunday house, a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, and a bathhouse all in one compound.
Very well designed and really informative.
I honestly wasn't expecting much when we arrived but this ended up being one of my favorite places we went in Fredericksburg. Don't skip the video at the beginning it is very informative.
Interesting
We really enjoyed this museum. There are various houses and other buildings to visit on the grounds, and when you enter, a canned introduction begins to play, typically read by a descendant of the buildings' occupants. The variety of buildings is a real plus. However, I do wish the museum went to greater lengths to connect us with the everyday struggles of the occupants' lives. Maybe this is impossible after so much time has past, but I would've enjoyed knowing more about their joys and trials.
This is a good place to spend a couple of hours in Fredericksburg. It is a museum complex, presenting old houses from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. The houses were interesting and included furniture and other items that would have been found in the houses. The real highlight was a demonstration by a man who was knowledgeable about old toys, musical instruments, and how to tie different types of knots. That description doesn't do him justice, but, trust me, the demonstrations where fantastic. He, like the rest of the staff, was very friendly and personable. I had a great time.
Great piece of Texas history. Made me admire the determination of the settlers of Fredericksburg.
Nice walk through what it was like for settlers. Give you a new perspective on the joys of A/C.
Cool place
Turn down the thermostat. Cool day....but it must have been 85 inside. The elderly woman host must have poor circulation to keep it that warm. More touristy than historical.
We had so much fun, and the girls were were engrossed in learning.
So much fun, and only $7.50 for adults. Very informative, and each historic building has audio about the home/building read aloud by actual descendents of the settlers who once lived there. The recordings start when you enter each building. Learned a lot! We were there for a little over 1.5 hours, but could've easily stretched it to two. If you're in the area, DO IT!!
Extensive displays and activities
Very cool place!
Display of the history and people of Fredericksburg. Really friendly host and thoughtful displays. We spent about 90 minutes.
Friendly, interesting history , very well kept
Tiene muy bonitos jardines en sus alrededores, pero me es muy difícil encontrarlo abierto. Me interesaría mucho visitarlo por dentro.
The Museum has some very interesting displays that explain the German heritage of Fredericksburg. I really enjoyed it.
Very cool place to visit. The grounds / homes are well kept and the lady up front was so helpful explaining everything.
Beautiful! Great to walk at your own pace. We had a great time will be returning next time we visit Fredericksburg.
This is a wonderful place to visit in Fredericksburg, TX to learn about the local history. Nice self-guided tour in and out of old building with plenty of interesting displays and artifacts. Best to visit during sunny and warm weather but if raining, they have got you covered with umbrellas for loan.
We LOVED this place! Definitely stop if you're interested in seeing things from early Texas history, very entertaining
Wonderful and interesting site.
The staff was nice but the director guy was an insecure man who had to puff up his chest and walk around like he's really important. Not a good experience. It's unfortunate that a place for history and kids has to be run by a guy like that.
The Averill House Vineyard crew on the search for great wine enjoyed this town!
A good place to see an american pioneers life.
Very nice place, the video is very helpful. Although, a great part of the history is listed in the main entrance, you can easily overlook it and miss the whole story. A lot of information would be missing without the video at the beginning.
Awesome museum, love the video of how Fredericksburg started. The audio in each exhibit explaining the history. Professionally done.
Enjoyed the history shared
Awesome place. A lot of history found there. Staff always ready to assist. Clean restrooms. Nice gifts to purchase for yourself and others. Prices small or larger depending on your choice. Take a tour. The Pioneer Museum should be on your lists of places to visit in the beautiful historic Fredericksburg Texas.
Cool spot to checkout while you're in Fredericksburg.
Having access and to the historic homes and buildings with period furnishings was great, but overall this is still a small historic site. Combine this with something else in Fredericksburg to make your visit more worthwhile.
Cool experience.
Interactive and educational fun.
Great
Great experience and a very cheap price. Really gives you a background of be area and helps you appreciate to culture of the area. I would recommend for any tourist coming to the area. When we were there they had fresh biscuits made on an open fire, live local music, rope making demonstration, blacksmith demonstration, and cowboys actually camping on the grounds!
Cute little museum for a few hours of walking and looking at all the artifacts. The employees there were super nice especially because my husband and I came about an hour before they closed. Would highly recommend! We'll definitely come back our next trip and make sure we get there for a little more time.
Overrated for the cost to get in.
One of my favorite places in all of Fredericksburg. Each house is like walking in time. My personal favorite was the 1930-1950 house. Doesn't cost a lot, and there is so much to see.
Wonderful if you love history and historical artifacts from small towns.
This is a must visit. Specially when history is reenacted. Great for children.
I love this place. It's educational and very fun. The history of the area is amazing and cool. What I didn't like is the trash, probably from SA, picking up all the items like they own the place. Yeah you can guess their type is from south of the border and they don't have much respect for anything but the welfare system
Awesome visit for $5 a person! My husband and I had a great time.
Must do if you really want to understand Fredericksburg.
This place was wonderful. We learned so much about early Fredericksburg history and enjoyed the museum very much. Great price (7.5 per adult) and friendly staff. Cute gift store wrapped up the experience. Plan for at least an hour to go through all the exhibits.
Well organized and the tour guide was very knowledgeable; he had some interesting stories that went along with the many treasures.Loved it.
Excellent place for Gillespie county history! Historical events and pioneer re-enactments are fantastic. Great family place.
Very nice facility. You must see this if you're nearby!
Love the Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas. Their staff was very nice and responded all my questions in regards the German heritage. I really appreciate this cultural museum.
Fun and educational. The buffalo soldiers and blacksmith were our favorites!
We have it so good today .
I loved this place. There was so much history of the town that was shared.
Interesting place to visit
We were here over Spring Break so there were a lot of extra things to do for the kids that weren't normally there. Our girls had a great time! They tried some campfire cooking, made knot dolls, saw the blacksmith, looked in all the buildings, and made some rope. Before we knew it we had spent over three hours there. Definitely worth the stop!
This is a great museum
Interesting history and friendly people.
Kind of ran down and stickers in the grass
What a Great experience. You learn so much history in about an hour as you explore the some of first buildings in Fredericksburg.
I love this place. Being able to go inside the houses and appreciate how they lived was amazing. You could appreciate the space and have an idea of how live used to be in this town. You can spend an hour or 2 if you go with kids. It's a kod friendly place and rhe staff is very nice! They also have a pecan peach jam in the gift shop that it's sooo good. You have to definitely try it!
Wonderful and interesting place to visit. You self guide yourself around the site with numerous buildings to visit. Very worthwhile place to come to and gives you great insight as to what it was like to live as early pioneers to Texas.
Interesting
This felt like walking through a very well-written Wikipedia article about the founding of Fredericksburg. The lady running the front counter was kind and welcoming. The informational video at the beginning was neat. The audio recordings in each building were informative. The artifacts and the stories behind them were interesting. For $5, it was a pretty cool way to spend an hour
Nice collection.
