You will be able to see all the information of people like you who buy the services of Pioneer Memorial Museum (Museum) in Utah.
At present this business has a rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 and the rating has been based on 275 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is virtually the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the score is very accurate. If people have bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to set tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
It has interesting stuff, but it looks more like a storage place, rather then a museum.
I didn't get to see everything in the time I had I will be going back soon
Lots of cool artifacts from the early pioneers. It is fun to look around.
Lots of interesting artifacts.
This place is absolutely amazing
A great place to learn about the founders of the salt lake valley.
Great place
Great place to learn about the pioneers. They also have pioneer records.
love the place. great place to soak up Utah history
Great place but you need a lot of time to see it all
Lots to see. I liked the room setups so you can see how people lived back then. Some great artifacts from the past.
An incredible collection of pioneer memorabilia, stories, and pictures.
We arrived to find a sign on the door saying some emergency caused them to close early. We drove about 35 miles for the disappointment. We got there not long after lunch.
Cool displays
Amazing Americana
Super horse drawn carnage collection.
I visited this place on a whim and I was not dissapointed. This place has collected so much from the early settlers and it is amazing to see what they brought with them (Steinway Pianos). To have covered wagons so close you can touch them. A must see. The staff were also so helpful.
Very friendly, cool exhibits unfortunately I couldn't stay very long
A fascinating, extensive (at times surprisingly exhaustive!) collection of artifacts from the time of Utah's settlement by Mormon pioneers through the mid-20th century. The museum is operated independently of any official state or church organization by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, who take seriously their charge to present history through its artifacts as factually and accurately as possible, neither glorifying the beliefs of the pioneers nor belittling their courage and faith. And it's free (donations appreciated).
This place has so many awesome artifacts.
This is the coolest museum ever!!! We love it. It's completely unreal the amount of history that is contained in the very walls of this museum, I adore the doll room the most!!
My kids thought this museum was super interesting. This museum has so many different things from the past. My teenagers were "freaked" out by the old black and white pictures of the pioneers who look "ghost-like" They call it the freaky pioneer museum and love taking their cousins and youth groups there. Best part is, that it is free. They accept donations when you walk in and is encouraged.
Needs more information and context regarding the items and their relevance to the area's and US history.
Very well laid out.
I loved every minute I was there. This museum is awesome, and the price is right.
Thousands of exhibits, but some small items are too cramped. Just looks cluttered. Several floors. The place is like a maze. They provide you with a map, but it is inaccura re you can't find your way out of the first two floors with it.
Didnt get to see it all cause we were running late but very nice loved it
Wow, what an amazing place. I highly recommend visiting this if you are at all interested in history!
Massive collection of pioneer artifacts. Go at your own pace.
A building pcked full of artifacts from early saints in the Utah area. Feelers ver very authehebtic and helps to make the saints and their experience seem more tangible. The wonderful women’s working in the front front are very kind and knowledgeable! The museum is free, and donations are welcomed. They even have a scavenger hunt to help kids (or adults like myself) through the museum.
I went here as a child and have such great memories. I recently visited with my kids and we made more wonderful memories. Thank you to the staff!
This museum is full of early Mormon artifacts. The collection is beautiful and quite extensive.
Very good
Great little museum
4 levels packed with pioneer artifacts and information. For being free you could do a lot worse. Need something to do on a Saturday in winter? Go check this place out. It's quite the experience, and you and your kids will learn a ton about Utah's interesting and faith-filled history
This a must see....if you have an interest in life as a Pioneer!
Wow! So fascinating. Our family loves history so we really enjoyed seeing all the things from the past.
Extremely interesting
Huge collection of artifacts. You could easily spend hours here.
Well laid out and educational. The ladies there are super friendly and helpful.
Really cool place... If you like old memorabilia you will go crazy in there
Haunted
Fun place to learn about history I like the fire wagon
I love the collection on display. Such a lovely variety and interesting items. The short movies are enjoyable and give your legs a break if you are there for a long time. It is well organized and the volunteers are delightfully chatty. I do feel that the display boxes are a bit over stuffed and there are quite a few repeated items, but we enjoyed the visit. There is a small cute gift shop too.
So many artifacts and you are free to browse at your pleasure.
Nice museum if you want discover the old life of Utah.
It's got a lot of cool, old stuff and spooky old portraits inside. They recently changed the hours so that it's only open until 4pm instead of 5pm (at least on Saturdays), so we only ended up with about 30 min to visit. Otherwise, very good. No entry fee.
A nice little local hostory museum.
Beautiful history. Friendly staff.
Its a really cool place
I honestly thought it was haunted
Very cool. I love seeing all the things from the pioneers. The kids thought all the old photos were creepy. Lol
Amazing artifacts, worth a visit.
A vast collection. Free admission.
Wasn't impressed with the dirty looks we got when we walked in. Cool historic pieces tho
Brought 50 7th graders here on a field trip. They loved it. So many amazing artifacts from Utah's past.
Second best collection of wreaths made of human hair I have ever seen. Super helpful staff, lots of primary documents, and compelling stories of early women on the frontier.
Lots of artifacts. Bigger than it looks.
Amazing
You learn more about the early history of the area through artifacts and pictures; my daughters liked the themed rooms
Love this place. Incredible collection of Utah pioneer memorabilia. You'll find something new every time.
Great staff!! Great place to visit
Great place too bad hidden away. Hard to find wrong address church pamphlets
Love this place so fun
Best place for pioneer artifacts about Utah history.
This place is fun to walk around and learn about Utah's roots. The museum contains pioneer artifacts that are interesting and nostalgic.
This museum is a true hidden gem. It's much larger than it appears on the exterior
Wonderful collection of artifacts from the pioneer era
Closed for the holidays, didn't get a chance to check it out
Loved it wished I had more time to see it alll
Interesting exhibits
What a hidden gem! I had a great time strolling around the Pioneer Memorial Museum and learn about Utah's Pioneers. There are so many artifacts. My favorite was the stained glass painting in the meeting room on the first level (What a beautiful painting!). The museum is well-kept and the staffs are very friendly. Admission is free so you can't go wrong.
Great Place for those you love history! Unfortunately it closes at 4pm, it would be appropriate to have it at least until 7 for those who work to be able to pay a visit!
Lots to look at here. If you are like me and like to read all the displays, plan on spending some time here. Great resource for learning about Utah history. Lots of displays and artifacts. Parking is kind of tricky though.
Very big (3 floors), full of interesting artefacts and traditional tools and you can observe everything through cristal clear glass.
Fabulous pioneer museum.
FANTASTIC! So many beautiful artifacts and collections. I very much enjoyed playing the pump organs.
Daughter loved the golden spike and all of the history.
Where do you park
So much history in one place! My wife and I stopped by to tour the museum before heading over to the Capitol Building. We were shocked to see just how many artifacts were here, even overwhelmed. I would like to have searched for artifacts that belonged to my own ancestors but it sounds like the DUP don't have a searchable database.
There are lots of pioneer relics, a scavenger hunt for kids and you can read the life story of thousands of pioneers, often on their own handwriting These histories are a treasure.
This place is a treasure trove!! If you like history or antiques, this is a must stop. Give yourself plenty of time because you could spend hours taking everything in.
Four floors and a carriage house of anything you could think of relating to pioneer life. You can spend hours and still see something new the next time you visit. Oh, did I mention that it's free and out of the sun.
Impressive collection!
This museum is filled with historical artifacts but with little explanation. Very old-fashioned.
Not so much a story of history as a story of individual peoples' lives and belongings. It's mainly a collection of stuff from Mormon pioneers--shawls, dolls, pianos, personal effects, samplers, clothes, photographs, etc. Very cool to walk through. Free to visit.
Huge assortment of pioneer stuff and awesome horse drawn fire engine.
Really enjoyed it. Lots of history. Lots of variety. Free. Not crowded. Not bombarded with religion. And the staff was very happy to help with any questions
This is a fun museum for an hour or two. They have a TON of stuff that is piled up so you can browse through interesting pioneer artifacts. The building is cool and the staff was really nice and willing to answer questions (but mostly they leave you alone - which I like).
So many things to see & learn here, be sure to take a few dollars for the gift shop. Entry is free and donations are very much appreciated.
Serious amount of tat. Could definitely do with a lot of it putting into store
Family history
Great Museum!!!
This museum is impressive in the amount of artifacts displayed, almost overwhelming, in fact. There are 4 floors in the main house and 2 more in the carriage house. They have many amazing things, however most are simply displayed with only the item's name and date. There are very few interpretive signs which is too bad as the pioneer's stories are so incredible. Not a place many kids would like.
Very partial! Very biased!
Awesome to visit, supposedly haunted was a plus. Went for a field trip, loss of historical treasures.
Lots of interesting stuff, but it can be a bit overwhelming.
So amazing...you could spend hours and not see everything.
Great place for Bible teaching through the Downtown Bible Class.
Great place to see pioneer history
So many pieces of Utah's history with amazing stories of hope, determination, and faith. I'm not even from here and I found pioneer relatives in the photo collection.
Awesome historic significance..
Was closed unexpectedly. . Very bad experuence.
Unbelievable collection. Hghlights include the snowshoes of Jim Bridger, a buffalo robe, and a leather mask worn by a Swedish immigrant to use as she crossed the desert to Salt Lake. The thing I like most about this museum is everything is authentic, like a museum should be----no kids games, no holograms, no bells and whistles. The only criticism I have is that the descriptions on the objects are either very short or non-existent. And it's generally disorganized , it would be better if they pulled some of the better exhibits and give them a proper highlight rather than just kind of throw everything together.
Interesting museum. Mostly earlier earlier settlers belongings. Don't miss the 2 headed lamb and the hand craved wooden leg.
An absolute must see! The ladies here are absolutely wonderful.
So helpful and nice to see what our forefathers brought with them in order to have freedom to worship freely, and make their lives better. I have a long lineage of descendace who are special to me and I am grateful for my family and what they have sacrificed in my behalf. Mary Cornelsen
This is the best museum I have ever been to. The sheer volume of antiques, relics, and photos make you feel like you've taken a time machine to the 1850's, and every item tells a fascinating story. If you are descended from pioneers, odds are you'll find your ancestors somewhere in the building. I found two of my own. There's even a scavenger hunt for kids, so the whole family can enjoy it. Loved it! :)
This place is huge! So much history. Recommend checking it out.
They have a wide array of documents, pictures, and artifacts of the pioneers. I plan on visiting again!
Love this museum. Much info, many photos and artifacts from my personal family history. Very helpful staff.
Nice
Cool artifacts from long ago
Feb. 2019 : Though it was my intention to visit the museum itself, got there just before closing time which is 4PM during Winter season. Tough luck... The historical building itself - located next to the State Capitol - is definately worth taking pictures of. When in SLC again I will make sure to pay the museum a visit.
Pioneer Memorial Museum, 300 North Main Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103 is a cool museum. Little kids might not like it, but I liked seeing all of the old stuff and reading about the pioneers. My wife has an ancestor who's picture is in there and we took the kids to see the Pioneer stuff. It was free and killed a few hours.
Amazing collection!
Best for the kids to understand Utah's history. It is the 4th grade curriculum.
Lots of cool things to learn about, we went on Pioneer Day and they had activities for kids, everyone was dressed up, and they even had a Brigham Young show up to take pics with. My wife's phone got the picture with BY, but still very cool. I also learned that my Grandmother x4 is in the museum and my daughter can join the International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers since she is a descendant of a pioneer.
Great museum, very helpful staff,.
I can't believe the assortment of pioneer relics in this museum! The staff is friendly. There are three or four levels to the museum so plan accordingly so you don't run out of time. Be sure to visit the carriage house.
So awesome!!! Great history, beautiful paintings, every type of clothing, guns, knives, quilts, clothing from the period, tools, medical tools, musical instruments, dolls, art, I could never mention everything!!! 3 floors of in depth history!!!
Awesome displays! It was great to see how industrious the pioneers were! Very inspirational!
Lots of very interesting stuff to see.
They had so many different artifacts from the LDS pioneers. It was really cool and interesting to see exactly what sorts of items the pioneers had. It was almost like going into a time machine. Awesome museum!
Fun place to visit very friendly!
A hidden gem of salt lake city. I have been going here all my life and now get to take my kiddo. Please go here and learn more about this great state of ours
Unbelievable archives!
Great Staff
I visited this museum on a field trip when I was in elementary school and could hardly remember it. Lately, my husband and I have been super into finding our ancestors and learning their stores. We decided it was time to visit this museum. It has free admission as well. The museum was easy enough to find, but we weren't sure where to park. We didn't see a parking lot, so we parked on a nearby street for 2 hour parking. Later, when walking out, we saw a small parking lot with around 5-7 parking spaces directly north of the museum, FYI. You get to it from the road directly east of the museum (turn into what looks like an alley and it will open up to the small parking lot). We walked around to the front or south side of the building, and noticed the ramp for strollers/wheelchairs was on the west side. My husband decided he just wanted to carry the stroller up the stairs instead of walk clear around the building for the ramp. The front doors are pretty narrow. Our stroller barely fit. I didn't see a wheelchair/handicap button to push. We entered and were greeted by two friendly women sitting behind the front desk area. One of the ladies gave us a map of the museum, explained it to us, and asked if we were looking for anything in particular. They had a free coloring book for Pioneer Days and a free Days of '47 newspaper activity thing which we took. We walked into the first room of the museum and noticed it was jam-packed full of stuff. Pictures of pioneers are all over the walls covering every inch of the museum. There are different glass cases with lots of pioneer clothing, blankets, hats, weapons, tools and a lot more in them. Every item in the glass exhibit cases is labeled with a little piece of paper in front of it, and most included names of who the artifact belonged to. While we were in the first room, another woman came in and asked if we needed help finding anything. We started talking to her, and she brought out a binder that had names of which pioneers are pictured on the walls. We looked up two ancestors in the binder and she gave us directions where to find the pictures. It was difficult to find the elevator and bathrooms, and to find our way around. They could use some helpful signage. We were able to find some pictures of our ancestors and some other neat things like John Moyle's wooden leg (a famous pioneer who walked 20 miles each week with a wooden leg to Salt Lake City from Alpine to work on the Salt Lake Temple). This museum is so rich with pioneer heritage. It honestly was overwhelming how much stuff they have in there. Definitely a great place to learn more about pioneers if you have some time. We spent an hour or two inside and could have spent weeks with how many things they have to see. We had a great experience here.
Lots of amazing artifacts
Went on a school field trip. Very educational and full of Utah History. Want to go back to see more!
So much history. Very interesting. Free. Clean.
The dup Museum was wonderful all the people we're so very helpful. I took my 9 year old grand-daughter. She can hardly wait to join.
Amazing collection of historic items!
Historical and interesting
Great staff and interesting historical artifacts.
Very well kept and clean.
Historic, educational, lots to see and learn about.
A great place for families, not too busy during the summer, and a good scavenger hunt for the kids!
We were told at the info center that you were open. I am on oxygen and walked from the capitol. Not happy! Update your brochure that says you are open on Sunday.
I came here with my niece and we were so pleasantly surprised. Room after room of pioneer belongs. We could of stayed all day. It's a beautiful building near the capitol. I'd highly recommend. A wonderful place.
Love this place. I never have enough time here.
The ladies in there are so nice and helpful. There is a lot to see and it's free. My kids loved it.
Great place and history
Fascinating to see and learn from so much pioneer history. I enjoyed the museum and only got to see a fraction of the displays.
It is always a great experience to go to the pioneer memorial museum. Everytime there is a person I have not seen before I talk to. I get great information this way about certain things the person has knowledge of. They are so incredible nice and show you what they taking about. There is so much in this museum that it is a good thing to come back to it. The stories from some people are incredible and when you focus everytime on something different you will see a lot more than others!
There's plenty to see.
Plan on spending a whole day
Very good museum. Lots and lots of things to look at, some of the obscure items could have used explanations, but otherwise a great stop.
Free museum, interesting, fascinating and the kids even liked it
Fun place to visit.
If you want to know about Utah history, visit this museum
Wow! This place has a lot to see and it's free!
Lots of interesting pioneer stuff
A great place to see items throughout the history of Utah. Free parking and free entrance.
Beautiful building and the artifacts are laid out to be easily seen. Well taken care of!
GREAT place to visit
