REVIEWS OF Historic Wendover Airfield Museum IN Utah

Great experience! Never been to anything like this. I came for the filming location of Independence Day!

Karin Nordlander

Part of the Manhattan project. Atomic bomb history.

Thor Sigurjonsson

Climbed the airfield tower and visited the museum and store. Entered large derelict aircraft and explored. Place has a sense of history and it was a fun visit. Worth the detour if you are into WWII history or aircraft.

Kyle mcgown

This is a great place to visit. Wish we had more time to spend here.

This small but interesting museum is worth a visit for any WWII history buff. During WWII this airbase is where the flight crews trained for the bombing missions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, including the crew of the Enola Gay. Inside the museum there are old photos and timelines featuring the history of Wendover Airfield and models of the Enola Gay. There's even a replica of the Atomic Bomb called Little Boy. I especially enjoyed seeing the old photos featuring the flight crews and reading their stories and recollections.

Step back in time and learn about the history of this amazing place!

If you’re out here, you have time to check this out. You’ll probably only get this one chance to check out the Enola Gay Hanger and be this close to history. It’s an endangered historic site, and its worth stopping in. It’s a one-of-kind feeling to be this remote and this close to something so pivotal to world events. Lots of movies have been shot out here as well, but it’s so empty it feels like there should be more narration present.

We came here for my son's sixteenth birthday and really loved it. We learned a lot of historical things we didn't know. The staff are all voulenteers and so helpful and nice! We were more than happy to pay over the suggested voluntary donation amount. I hope this forgotten historical gem will garner more attention. It really is a significant part of American history and it would be a shame to see it further slip into a derelict state. They are trying hard to restore it to it's former glory and I hope that happens! If you have the opportunity to go here and love history (especially WWII era), you won't be disappointed.

We visited Wendover during the Wendover MDA ride. We did not travel on bikes and when asked if we were passing through with the ride I think we shocked the staff when we told them we came just to see this place! My husband found this gem and it certainly did not disappoint! We arrived half hour until closing and the lady was kind enough to let us watch the informational show that they played, see the bits of history and even check out the gift shop. I would definitely give this place a visit. It's like a walk in to the almost erased passed. Keep this place alive! Give a visit! Donate!

Great, guiet museum.

Mike Wise

Visit the place our airmen and soldiers trained to be gunners, bomb sights, pilots and bombers, but don't expect too much. It's falling down, but the exhibits are great and it's small-town history. Give it a look, donate what you can and remember those who gave their lives, Americans and enemies.

Simon Denton

Has the plane from con air the movie can climb the tower.

Pepper Pehrson

Justin Haskins

Very cool place, very historic place. Probably the very best thing Wendover has going.

It was free and had real stuff from the war a great place to be.

Temple Mastery

Amazing! I have been fortunate enough to tour World War II installations all over Western Europe, and this one is very cool and unique. It's connection to the atom bomb dropped in Nagasaki, and some of the signatures of the actual flyers from the war they have in places in there is amazing. Go on a Saturday, around noon 12:30 they have a walking tour of the entire facility. There's a donation of five or ten dollars required, but it's totally worth it. Go out and support them and leave some money there if it's possible for you.

It was great seeing the old barracks and the WW2 history. Here's to hoping that they get the funding to restore the remaining buildings.

Roy Miller

Great piece of history hidden away that needs more visitors to pass on the truth of the Army Air Corp and the Enola Gay and Box Car

Billy Curtis

We came here last fall and enjoyed it so much we came back today with the kids. They originally did not want to come and thought learning about world war 2 would be boring but instead they loved it so much, we had a hard time getting them to leave. So fascinating and fun for all ages.

Wonderful experience here. Was so fun to learn about everything the lady showed us around and was so super nice. I sliped extra money in the donation box because I would love to see the hanger become a place where I can go see things and learn about the history.

This was my first visit. I knew the history, but to see it myself, and speak with a very knowledgeable volunteer was quite fun. This is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere.

Paul Steele

Very somber feeling to stand where the atomic age began. God bless those Men and Women who defend our freedom.

Cool to look at. No one talked to us. Wasn't sure if we could walk in to some areas or not. Just felt like we were going to get in trouble for something. Lol

It was an interesting museum, but they only have the small part open on Sundays. I would have liked to see the bigger museum.

Crazy horse

Awesome place to check out if you're into history. They've done a lot to bring things back to what they used to be and have a lot of really cool stuff in the air museum. If you've not been there I highly suggest you check it out. Really cool history and a lot of cool things to see and do.

So a buddy of mine is in CAP (Civil Air Patrol) They were supposed to be doing a airshow out there. Even tho the airshow was cancelled due to weather, my buddoes from CAP showed me around a little. From the defac building to the old airtower and the hangar to the plane that dropped the bomb on japan. This is so cool what these guys are trying to do for this airbase. It gives you that euphoria of the way things used to be. Good job guys keep it up!!

Ryan Tommer

I didn't know how much history was out here until I visited. It's a great cause to support as they work to restore an important part of American history.

Very interesting exhibits. Lots of history.

This is an amazing piece of history. This once was the largest air reserve during WWII and is the only surviving WWII airbase of its size. The museum has focused on restoring the base and plans on continuing to restore still standing structures. There is a good eight minute video that talks about the site. Great place to visit to learn about an important time in world and US history.

This was a hidden gem. We saw vintage aircraft taking off and landing, climbed the old control tower and enjoyed the restored officer's club with all it's artifacts. My son was especially impressed by the bomb replica. My kids enjoyed dancing on the dance floor to the big band music. We plan to go back!

Mike Mckinney

Very interesting history, I believe the government should step up or even the casinos to save the history before it's all gone
