This is a really fun museum to take the kids to. They have a ton of planes to look at and on Fridays they actually will bring outside a ladder for you to go and look at the cockpit of some of the planes.

Mike Terry

This is a cool museum that teaches about all aspects of the history of flight going back to the Wright brothers. There is special emphasis on military aviation as well as Hill Airforce and the airmen who have been stationed there. There are tons of aircraft both inside and outside the building that can be viewed up close. There is a scavenger hunt that kept my kids engaged and excited for each new wing od the museum. The best part is everything is freel, but leave a donation if you enjoyed yourself to help improve the museum in the future.

Jesse Therien

I love how Hill Air Force Museum has told the history of military aircraft as well as the fighter jet displays! As of 2019, there were three F-16 on display, one of which is a Thunderbird. Thank you for your facility that allows us to remember the past and be grateful for the service of our military!

Abigail Robinson

Great place to visit! We loved all the fun coin things and of course all the Airplanes! And it's all free! Not the best place for kids between 2-4 but any child older it's awesome! It would be so cool if they had a place for littler kids, a more interactive exhibit. Otherwise it is must visit!

Kenzie B

Fun place to go if you like airplanes. It’s free so it would be a great place to take kids! The bathrooms were kind of dirty but everything else was ok

Alex MacKay

chanjaev

Great free attraction with some pretty rare aircraft. SR-71, B-1, B-29 are highlights, but some lesser known aircraft like the century series and C-124 are great to see too.

Matt Hanson

Free, lots of planes, some historical exhibits. Big and small planes and helicopters. Worth a look.

Aaron Mac

I went to show one of my out of state friends around. They have a large variety of airplanes and history showcased here. I especially enjoyed the back hangar with the fighter jets. It was a lot of fun and can be taken as fast or as slow as you want. All the staff was awesome they really make this place amazing!

Pockett 281

Very interesting museum. My son loves military history and even my 4 year old daughter liked seeing all the planes. Worth the trip regardless of how far you have to drive. 1 star removed because the gift shop is pretty pricey compared to other museum shops we've been to. The admission is free though so I get why, it just seems the gift shop is more price jacked than necessary.

Jessica Shortt

Son and I had a great time. Especially when a US Veteran cam e and talked to us about the planes and showed us the planes he has flown. We will most certainly go again

Tracy Catmull

Awesome museum! My son loves it there. Lots of interesting things to see. Put together nicely. My only complaint is when I was there today, the guy running the gift shop talked endlessly with another guy about the upcoming golf game, the big names playing, do you know this guy or that guy? They went on and on while I stood there waiting for help. Eventually, I just left.

Ross King

Love this museum! The volunteers are terrific and have amazing stories! There are tons of planes and information about the different wars. A must see either alone or with your family!!

Robbie Speelman

It's free to go here now. Helpful volunteers are there to educate as well. The gift shop purchase equipment is a mess though

George Parsons

One of the top air museums in the country, probably over 50 planes in top condition on display. A must see

Brian Fleck

Wow what an amazing place they have a great variety of beautiful aircraft from all the eras of American aviation history may have been restored to their original luster and beauty in including an SR-71 Blackbird!!! The staff there are all volunteers and are very very knowledgeable and willing to help and can answer most questions about the aircraft and the components that are in the aircraft that you seeing! They have one of the original aircraft before the first Air Force One was built! I will come back to this place again and again it's always a thrill to see the aviation history of America right before your eyes you can still smell the hydraulic oil and the aviation fuel on some of the aircraft that are on display

Michael Shepard

Was up there for the open day and they had a band and food trucks and guides showing off the inside of planes. It was a fantastic experience.

Jane Macpherson

Wonder experience with their displays and accompanying historical facts. Run by volunteers.

Kason G.

This was the neatest experience! Getting to spend the good part of the afternoon learning so much history about aviation and specifically Utahn aviators. I’d recommended this to every and any person who has an interest in Military and search-and-rescue aircraft. The staff there are all volunteers and are very open about making sure you have a good time and know which way to go. Better yet, most are all veterans and know their stuff!

Katie Kearns

Amazing displays and really helpful people. The folks restoring these planes and things will practically give you a guided tour. Amazing experience!

Chris Schendel

The exterior as you drive by is a little underwhelming, but I assure you once inside this museum does not disappoint! Almost every major airframe in the inventory is represented! Very impressive display of modern and past air power!

Eric Reeves

A good drive north of salt lake. Free admission

Randall Hansen

It was amazing. A lot of Utah heroes made the ultimate sacrifice.

Taurus

Lewis M Bowers Sr

The museum was great. It brought back memories of our nation as a whole treated our Vietnam Veterans

John-Aaron Baumann

Very, very cool! Lots to see. I liked it and reccomend a visit.

Robyn Madsen

Free museum, staffed by volunteers. The museum is both inside and outside. There is a scavenger hunt for little ones. There is a series of short movies that run continuously. All if this is free, and if you are lucky, you might see a few in the air. Picnic tables are available outside.

Mark Sanders

We have fun with the kids every time we come. I do recommend bringing a bottle of water. It gets pretty hot in the display rooms

Richard Barber

Such an amazing place to go visit! The volunteers are amazing and very knowledgeable, the exhibits are very well maintained and the staff is outstanding.

Jake Hansen

Awesome free exhibit if you are into airplanes. The SR-71 is particularly impressive. Also a good place to play Pokemon go.

HOLLY KERKES

This place is amazing, what an unexpected surprise! Free admission, TONS of cool planes, including blackbird, A-10 warthog, hundreds of others. Gift shop, clean restrooms, helpful and informative volunteers!

Jeanette Pressley

My husband works at HAFB so It was fun to go see a little of the history and see all of the neat airplanes! We took my preschool aged daughter for her field trip and she loved it. They had a cute activity where they made helicopters and got to watch them spin as they threw them from a balcony. Just a fun, family friendly place to visit! Plus it's free

Bradyn Lystrup

Always worth a little extra drive to spend the day here. Awesome planes and exhibits. Favorite has to be the SR-71 Blackbird and one of only a handful of museums that have this jet. So many aircraft you can spend hardly anytime looking at each plane and still have ti take over an hour. Or spend the day taking in each exhibit and take your time which is what I recommend cause this place is packed with some awesome aircraft. well worth the cost of admission (which is free).

Alex Meredith

This is a great museum to take the kids to for the afternoon. Never to crowded and my boys love looking at the planes. The only thing that would make it better is if it had some sort of hands on experience too!

Isabelle Montague

Pretty cool place to walk around and learn a bit of the history behind the planes we use in the air force. We went in the early afternoon and with the sun shining it was blinding! Bring sunglasses or go later! There are a ton of planes, both inside and out!

Thomas Kenji Melot

No changing tables in men's or women's restroom. The planes are cool though. Edit: there's a changing table in the women's restroom near the gift shop!

Jacob E

Awesome collection of planes and interesting information on the history of aviation, with an emphasis on Utah's role.

Anna Ortiz

This is place is very great to get education about WW1 AND WW2! They give very professional and understandable descriptions of each Airplane, Helicopter, Etc! Totally should be worth visiting once!

yossi lvu

Super clean place, everything is organized. This place is not only for kids is for every one. My kids love the airplanes but the true is that every item at the museum tell a story every single one....

Jo Vest

Great lessons of history. Planes inside and out. Lots of walking. Some benches inside. Picnic tables outside in the shade of airplane wings. Outside is on gravel walkways so sturdy shoes will benefit you.

Daniell Shirley

It’s free! They have real pilots that flew in wars. We talked to Colonel Bill and he was a real pilot in Vietnam! How cool is that! There are so many planes. What is there not to like about it! It’s amazing and educational!

The Arnold Army

Very cool and interesting for any age. There is an indoor museum as well as outdoor museum with dozens of full size retired aircraft, mostly military. All free. So much information and interesting plaques and learning to absorb. I love it and my kids love it. The people who tend here and answer your questions are 90% of the time old vets and it's generally just a very casual and friendly experience.

Nicholas Carson

Free, and totally worth the visit. Really cool place to come see some real pieces of history. The guides have a decent amount of knowledge over the aircraft here, and they have full sized aircraft as well as missiles and bombs and equipment. If you have a child who is interested in aircraft, they'll get a kick out of seeing some of the things at this museum. There is no cost for entry, photography is welcomed, and it is run I believe solely by volunteers.

John Seal

Fantastic museum with great planes and information. Admission is free and the staff was very helpful as well. My favorite exhibit was the blackbird. Great piece of aviation history!

Phil Woodward

Just an awesome museum. Great planes old and new.

Jeremy Malais

This is one of the best FREE activities that you can do in Davis County, UT. The museum has several aircraft from early flight to relatively modern times that are on display and it is right next to the Air Force Base. If you go at the right time and right day you'll see aircraft (F-35 mostly) flying overhead which makes the experience that much better. There is an outdoor exhibit showcasing maybe 15 or so planes and then there is an indoor space which is largely 2 big aircraft hangars plus a few small sections of gift shop or other displays. This allows you to go any time of the year to visit. The docents at this location are fairly knowledgeable of the aircraft and many have some personal connection to them either being former military or other associations. They do also have some seasonal exhibits but I'm not familiar with the schedule or if there is one. This place is also handicap accessible for the most part with just a few exceptions which is great for taking elderly family members who may have served or had family or friends that did. We have brought our kids every time we go and they will run around wildly and sometimes get a little loud and there is no issue with the staff as to their behavior. We just recently attended the Open Aircraft day which allowed us to tour the inside of some of the aircraft and they had some small amount of vendors and military demonstrations. I was told that this year (2019) was a lot smaller thab prior years due to scheduling conflicts with other air shows, but all-in-all it was a great event for the family. This really is an experience everyone should try when they visit the surrounding area.

Emily Lacey

This is the most highly requested stop of my children. We go as often as we're in the area! There is so much to see. They loved seeing the planes as little boys but are starting to appreciate the history and design of each plane. Wish we were around more for their outreach programs.

Susan Wiles

Interesting place, grandchildren and us enjoyed our time.

Robert O'Bleness

Outstanding museum, wife and I enjoyed our visit.

Johnathon LeCheminant

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the history of our country unfold before my eyes as I walked through this museum. What better way to realize how far we've come than to think about how, within the last century, aircraft has gone from a simple wood-framed flying thing to the fastest gravity-defying machines, some capable of reaching up to speeds of over 2000 mph! Not only was it fun to see the history, but much of the friendly staff working there were part of it and would be glad to talk your ear off about anything that sparks your curiosity. The one downside to this place would be the smell of jet fuel inside the jet room (arguably the coolest room), so if you're sensitive to smells, take caution.

john kruger

What a super cool place. So many planes and air stuff. This is a real treasure to have here in Utah. Great place for kids to get to explore.

Sherie Davis

So much to learn and see. Even though it's free, they have donation boxes. It was so interesting and fun, it was my pleasure to donate. Went away with a greater feeling of gratitude to those who served and is serving our country.

Bessie Clark

The sites were really amazing. But as my family and I were walking in, we got bomb barded by 3 old men who were really rude to us. We did not see the sign that said no drinks. We were looking at the wall of all the pictures. Had we saw it, we would have thrown our drink out. They were making a huge deal over it. One of them wouldn't leave us alone about it. Accusing us of just ignoring the sign and saying well if you had to clean it up and blah blah blah. Completely ruined our trip. And it really ruined our 6 year olds day there.

Jason Mathis

This place is perfect for kids that love military airplanes! It’s a really good museum overall! Lots of interesting history to read for people like me that like to read heroic stories from our boys in uniform. It’s very inspiring and makes you feel proud of America.

Trudi Perkins

My eldest son loved reading about our history and seeing all of the aircraft in real life. I appreciate all of the veterans working there who could answer our questions and give us a tour if requested. Thanks!

Ty Elder

A very amazing place to visit, especially if you love airplanes.

John Baker

Nice friendly, family oriented. Not far from Salt Lake... Come visit see large select airplanes.

Shan Anderson

The best part of this place is that it seemed full of veterans and former pilots who have amazing stories to share! Don't hesitate to stop one of them that is floating around the museum and ask them for a story! I went with a school field trip group, so we also experienced a meteorology/weather class for kids! Mark Standing, the instructor, and his assistant were highly entertaining and engaging. Made learning about weather fun and interactive!

James Jones

Awesome. The variety of aircraft and exhibits was outstanding and there was plenty to see and learn about. We couldn't see it all...

Carla Goodwin

Great free museum. Lots of airplanes you normally dont see in other museums

Jamie Steier

I always enjoy this museum. They have retired pilots who volunteer regularly. The displays are great and it's next to the current base so you can see and hear planes often. Always enjoy my time here.

Rebecca Echols

Great for my young kids. Everything was accessable for my stroller. My kids loved being able to get close, touch and walk under the planes out front. We enjoyed our picnic under a plane wing, which also saved us from the rain! Inside there was so much to take in, definitely worth visiting multiple times. The guides were knowledgeable and made sure we knew about special events coming up. It was a great atmosphere for my little family

Brett Lodwick

Awesome place to visit and see aerial equipment and planes from the past to present. Lots of great info and things to see. Very big place, takes at least an hour to an hour and a half to see it all. Nice little gift shop too. Was awesome to see my favorite two planes; the A10 and SR71!

Porter Nielsen

Such a cool, indepth experience in the war planes that Hill Airforce Base has had hands on. All of the planes were well kept and had good information about them. There was a lot of things that we did not know, including, woman airplane maintenance and flyers. We want to give a shout out Zach, who gave my wife a wonderful, very in depth and knowledgable walking tour in the second half of the building. He went over the more recent and foreign planes and never didnt know an answer. It was so great to see her so engaged and having fun. Thanks Zach! You made our trip go to the next level! Be sure to donate, as it is free to get in.

Janet Peterson

Rely nice big museum only got to see part of it

The museum is very interesting! The best times to go are during the off Seasons or marginal weather days. This Museum gets extremely crowded during the air show! It is free but donations are accepted.

Luis Ergon

Awesome museum with many planes ranging from pre WWI all the way to currently active planes such as the F-15 and 16. Outdoor displays are well maintained and large. Indoor display range from WWII bombers and fighters to small trainers. There are helicopters inside which are my favorite displays. Historical facts throughtout the museum provide ample means of entertainment plus the volunteer staff are extremely helpful. The store is also well stocked with unique items and prices are not too bad. The entrance to the museum is free, highly recommend you stop by.

Dennis Bierman

One of the best museums paying tribute to the military. Clean friendly and just a great place to visit.

4Runner Steve

The Hill Aerospace Museum is always worth the stop every time I pass by it on vacation. It truly is a grand collection of rare and historical United States Air Force aircraft including a B-24 Liberator of which there's only about a dozen left in the world on display. There's even a nicely stocked gift shop with items that will appeal to everyone. This museum really is a mecca for military aviation history enthusiasts such as myself. Plan on spending at least a couple hours to see it all.

Ariel Heath

Great place to take your kids to learn about history. My husband and i have gone several times. The volunteers there are kind and knowledgeable. Best part, it's free! (Although, donations are appreciated).it's wheel chair accessible. They have an indoor and outdoor part of the museum.

Caleb Walker

More to do than I thought. Love that it is free and a great family activity. A little warm midsummer.

BretandDenae Averett

1 of my grandkids liked the planes outside and 1of them liked the planes inside. I enjoy both. If you have not been here, you should give it a go

Matt Hutchings

This is a good place for a historic overview of the air force and its history along with how the Air Force impacted the local communities. First, the location has a number of aircraft on display for different periods in the Air Forces history. Combined with the information displays it provides a timeline of that evolution. This starts outside and continues inside the museum buildings. Next, as you enter, it displays become more personalized as it describes what those that served, and their families, went through and what they did during their term of service. As we continue past the entrance we enter a new hanger where history continues broken out be the Air Forces role, the planes and other technology used, by conflicts in history. This continues throughout the rest of the museum. Lots of informative displays. Some very helpful staff. A good place for adults and kids. Make sure you take a tour of some of the helicopters in the back. Tour guide was very informative.

Adam Rea

My family and I had a great time being in and around all the planes

We went for the 2019 Easter Egg Hunt. Even though it rained and snowed the kids had a great time. The work that has gone into preserving our military history has been amazing. I love going and searching just a few planes or exhibitions so that I can go back for more.

Connor

Awesome free museum. They have so many cool planes and other AF equipment. I would highly recommend.

Day Starns

Great history here and a lot of cool planes to look at and learn about. Easy to spend a good two hours here. Kids loved it as well.

Kyla Murinko

It was free to get in and it's very large with lots of information. The hangars are very large. There's alot of walking. In and outside. The gift has lots cool trinkets however they are pricey. I'd definitely go back.

Justine Boecker

Our flight got delayed so we decided last minute to stop here. It was amazing! I have no special interest in planes or the air force and was quite skeptical when my husband suggested we spend our new found extra time here but he was right. I can't believe this cool museum is free! I would recommend this to anyone staying in Salt Lake City Area.

Alex L

Excellent museum with great quality displays and available aircraft to see. There is a fantastic exhibit in the back of fighter and attack aircraft that features the A-10 Warthog, three different F-16's including a Thunderbird, and one of my favorite aircraft, the SR-71 Blackbird. The museum is well managed and has fantastic activities and STEM classes for visiting kids and student groups. It's a great place to spend an afternoon reading up on history and seeing what greatest airforce in the world has been able to accomplish, technologically, throughout our history.

Mike Betz

Many more planes inside than outside, including some really cool fighter jets. Need to go back soon, disnt see everything

Jack Brockhaus

I always enjoy going here with my family. A lot of history to learn and awesome jets and airplanes to look at. They also have an SR71 and some F16's on display. And tbe best part is, it's free!

Aaron Atwood

This place just gets better and better. The outdoor part opened a plane for people to walk through, the number of planes, the displays and honorary recognition for the different wars, and the amazing interactions make for an amazing experience. Also the new STEM section is a nice add to everything they have done.

Michael Techmeyer

What a fun place! Each month they have an airplane of the month and on Fridays you can walk through those aircraft. We got to walk through a KC-135 Re-fueler from the UT Air National Guard. Such a great experience. There were plenty of helpful folks that answered questions. The kids played a scavenger hunt with the airplanes. Great historical displays.

kathy dean

Great displays and wonderful variety and lots of models of planes and jets used in the military over the years! Part of our heritage and past best remembered! Thank you for this great treasure !

Jae Maxwell

I used to ditch school (the '80s) and visit the museum. I still enjoy going there. If you get a chance to visit, talk to some of the volunteers. The stories you'll hear are heartbreaking, funny and sad. The history of the planes is very cool.

Wizard Wingman

One of the best USAF museums without a doubt! Admission is FREE and the museum is staffed by an amazing group of volunteers, many with detailed knowledge of aircraft and some amazing personal experiences. Aspen Hansen

Overall pretty great. There was a large selection of planes and generally good information to go along with each. Be sure to bring a hat or sunglasses to look at the planes outside. It is VERY bright with the sun reflecting off all the pale rocks.

It's free! They have planes! My son wanted to see the SR-71 Blackbird. That makes it a win.

Lance Rowley

This place is awesome! Bring your kids and let them run around and marvel at planes and jets. Or if you have time, take a tour. Honestly it's kind of shocking that we have something as amazing as this in our community, especially with free admission. Even the gift shop is fun, my son and I enjoyed getting Lego sets of the planes.

Candace Harris

There were so many planes! All years from the beginning of aviation. The displays were amazing! My grandson is 6 and he LOVED the scavenger hunt. It kept him busy so I could actually look at everything and enjoy it, too.

Love coming here. There is a feeling of reverence. It makes you very appreciative of the sacrifices that our military has made keep Americans safe.

Griffin Baron

An absolutely fantastic museum for someone who loves planes. Close up access, volunteers who will walk you through any questions and a shockingly free entrance fee. Highly recommended.

Trevor Sanders

Always fun. Very helpful staff. Wish there was a snack bar of some kind.
