As you can see it has an average rating is practically the best one, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can be quite sure that the assessment is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to rate when they are happy, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of History museum.
Great time talked with the local historians! I learned so much!
This place is nice and interesting and of course the people are nice because they think the need to in order to have a chance of saving your soul. But if you really want the true history of Mormonism, read: "No Man Knows My History", by Fawn Brodie. Once touted by the Church as the Devil's own writing, now tacitly admitted by the Church through an "Anonymous " series of essays published obscurely in their web pages. Now the church is apparently trying to morph into mainstream Christianity in an effort to survive the information age, as their dirty laundry is revealed in a simple Google search before their missionaries reach the sidewalk.
Fascinating history and astounding accounts if true faith, hope, and actions.
My family and I absolutely loved this museum and the shop. We loved the 3D effect of seeing the first vision. My kids loved they got to participate in a "printing" of the first copy in the Book of Mormon! Just a great experience. I liked how the museum is spacious because I suffer from panic in too close quarters. Open, lovely, and we felt the spirit. Great staff!
Exceptionally good exhibits and a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The exhibits are largely self-guided and very well thought-out.
Always worth the visit! Once a year The History Museum sponsors a "Block Party" in the summer that occupies the entire street filled with activities for children, bouncing houses for kids, live entertainment, various food vendors, face painting, just tons of fun!!
Surprisingly great for kids! There is a kids play/craft area with tangram puzzles, wooden building blocks, soft play area for babies and toddlers, an origami project, and coloring tables. The trek to Zion exhibit is also kid-friendly (for kids who can read). You grab a card with a pioneer name and bio, then as you go through the exhibit, you try to find some of their belongings or a story about that person. At the end, you find out if your person made it to Zion. Personally, my favorite exhibit was the photographs of members of the church around the world. It reminded me a lot of Humans of New York. Just candid pictures of every day life with a paragraph or two about the person. I loved it.
I really enjoyed the new exhibit about the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I loved the kid friendly exhibits that they can touch and play with. I didn't get to go through all of the exhibits, but everything I saw was really interesting. I'll have to go back to see the rest of the exhibits.
Great interactive exhibits for kids and adults. Well presented and professionally done.
Great tour guides and knowledgeable people here. Fun site.
Fun place to learn about th Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interactive and kid friendly!
The staff was nice and knowledgeable. This is a place tailored for adults over children. You can try to teach children some things as you move about the building but when its busy with youth groups it's hard to move around. Take families on slower days.
Amazing museum full of art and small trinkets from Joseph Smith's life
My favorite here is the interactive game where you are timed if you can be a good scribe. It’s fun! ☺️
Amazing place, very informative whether your LDS or not. Worth a visit.
The Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter Day Saints has made a really informative and unique museum. They have a quick 6 min video of Joseph Smith that is a panoramic film. It immerses you into his story. There are a lot of fascinating artifacts and 3 floors of material. There are areas kids can participate and do activities such as water colors, block building, and interactive learning stations. In fact a lot of the exhibits have interactive information screens that kids can use to learn more.
Comprehensive history of the church accessible at your own pace. Interactive exhibits for younger attendees too. Not great for little kids right now because the children's area is not available this summer.
Very interesting things to see and a great movie to
Beautiful art and wonderful guides to talk with!
We went to the Church History Museum as we were passing through Salt Lake City on a family trip. It is a great way to learn a bit more about the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at their headquarters. There was no hard sale on even talking to someone at any point, let alone trying to get you to listen to someone teach you. It is a self directed tour with as much or as little information as you would like to see. I would highly recommend it.
Great place to come and learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Very kind workers, not pushy. Free
Wonderful exhibits about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Of interest not only to members of that faith. Information about the pioneers is excellent. Also always some art exhibition on the upper floor. The art is faith promoting. Clean restrooms. Free admission. Recommend to plan for at least one hour to get a feel for the place.
As well conceived and presented about the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as any national museum. World class in the presentation.
My kids love to go here and see the interactive exhibits.
Great place to go I recommend going
Beautiful place :) and the docents were very kind and well informed. It's worth stopping by the church history museum if your in the area. They also have rotating exhibits at times.
This place was honestly an interesting experience, I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know about the church. Also the staff was fantastic and very helpful, I would recommend going for a great interactive experience even if you're not LDS, I would still recommend going
Beautiful place to learn more about church history, really appealing to post modern times. And the staff was friendly and attended to all of my questions .
Informative, beautiful art, quiet and lots of interesting history.
Incredible surround video of the First Vision, amazing artifacts, and inspiring artwork!
Everyone is so nice and helpful. The building is beautiful. It has something for all ages. The history is so interesting and the exhibits are wonderful.
So knowledgeable, the guides are amazing! I've taught Seminary for over 25 years, and learned all kinds of things tonight.
Great place to not only learn about Church history, but American history as well. Love the artifacts and stories that bring this original American church history while seeing how it grew globally. Love this place.
We really enjoyed the art exhibit and the activities.
Really enjoyed the watercolor exhibit. The only thing that would have made it better was to have SOME of the art displayed a little bit lower for the short ones (I did a lot of lifting up so my kids could see). Also, I really hope you will have more exhibits for children in the future.
Nice presentation of early Mormon history.
This place was awesome! Everyone was so nice and friendly. I loved the First Vision Theater, i have never had an experience like that in a theater. The screen was enveloping it is worth the trip alone. I loved all the other exhibits and the inter-activeness. Furthermore, it is free so it is worth a visit!
It's a beautiful place where you can live the history of what you have learned about The Church of JesusChrist of Latter Day Saints
Amazing, very hands on. One of the best history based museums for kids I've been too. Will definitely go back. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
Great telling of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wonderful presentations, artifacts and art.
Beautiful art and exhibits. A nice way to spend some time down town for no cost. They have some kids activities upstairs near the elevator.
Free museum with interactive history exhibits on the main floor, more history, art, and a kids play area on the upper floor, special exhibits and programs in the basement. My kids could easily spend several hours here. Don't miss the first vision movie! Only 10 mins but the effect of the round screen is really cool, feels like the room is moving.
The museum was a great activity for or youth group. I liked the new renovations.
Date of Visit: 1/12/2019 OVERVIEW - 5.0 Came here with my wife, our daughter, and my wife's friend visiting from Argentina. We figured this would be a good stop to learn about early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. LOCATION - 5 The Church History Museum is located along temple square. Parking can be a bit complicated. I would recommend parking in the parking garage below City Creek. They offer two free hours. PRICE - 5 The price is amazing at the price of FREE! PRODUCTS/SERVICES - 5 The quality of the items in the museum are priceless. The majority of the items on display are original. There are also several interactive items for kids and adults alike. POINTERS/PERKS - 5 The second floor has a section for children where there are several activities available. There are several areas as well for hands-on projects. There was a little portable cart where you could practice writing your name on a felt tip pen, also a replica of the Golden plates. VOLUNTEERS - 5 The volunteers are so helpful as well as knowledgeable. One of the seniors gave us all kinds of details behind the martyrdom of Joseph Smith.
Wonderful displays showing the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Important artifacts and inspiring stories from Church history as well as beautiful art displays.
If you get the chance whether you're a Mormon or not do not pass up a chance to visit the Mormon Temple and see awesome pictures, learn history of the church and its founders, plus be mesmerized by the buildings surrounded by flower gardens. There are people all around to answer questions and explain what you're seeing. To park use the underground parking at a shopping mall about a block walk from the temple .... 1st - 2 hours are free and 2 dollars each additional hour. The mall has a nice food court and is reasonable in prices if you get hungry.
Beautiful exhibits and a free surround movie of the First Vision. Very kid friendly place. There is also a gift shop.
Informative and full of artifacts. Great visit.
Want to learn the real truth about this church and it's gospel doctrine? Listen to the pair of young men, women and couples with the proper nametags, to share the truth with you. (You wouldn't go to Chevy dealers to learn more about about Ford cars, would you? Please: "Do not judge the perfection of the Lord by the imperfections of mankind." )
Real artifacts from early LDS church history
Best experience is to visit and see for yourself
Nice staff who knows about the history of this church and it's founders. Were very helpful in explaining things and weren't there to push religion on you, just to talk about the LDS Church's history
Really enjoyed the new exihibt and all the artwork! Great place for kids and to just see stuff
Nice place, but not a whole lot to do unless you are related to a Mormon. You can use the computers for web browsing, however.
This is a pretty nice museum here. It's got a lot of high tech entertainment. It has a great 180degree movie presentation that last 7 minutes available in multiple languages. Lots of historical artifacts on display. A nice gift shop. And best of all...admission is FREE so make it a point to stop in and see some LDS church history.
Lots of interactive things to do! A great family date for sure! It's also free so you can bring as many people as you want and have a great time.
Amazing place! If you are LDS or not, you will love it! At least you will learn the history of the Church who built this wonderful place. They did an amazing job to make it real and interactive. My children love to come here and learn about the history of the saints. One of the most beautiful and amazing places to visit. The movie short movie about the first vision on that 180 degree theater is AMAZING! please do a favor to yourself and come and watch!
Wonderful place to see, feel and learn.
Beautiful & clean. All volunteers extremely kind,& helpful.
It's a beautiful museum full of rich and inspiring history!
Great place to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints and Joseph Smith.
Our grandkids requested to visit. There seemed to be more activities for kids this time. The 11 annual art contest was on display, and I always enjoy looking at entries from around the world.
As always, the International Art Competition display is a must-see! (Open from March to October). The rest of the museum is beautiful and also worth a leisurely visit.
Free. A cool place for both families and dates. A nice place to go see while visiting downtown Salt Lake.
Great free place to enjoy art and church history.
Wonderful compliment to all the other history in and around temple square. Knowledgeable docents. The museum shop has something for everyone.
Fantastic museum with a variety of types of displays. Good for people of all ages.
There is not a lot to do in Salt Lake this time of year so the Mormon grounds was it. The people were all super nice and helpful. The artifacts were either imitations or most just from that time period that may have been used by the pioneers of the Mormon faith. Not a whole lot in the museum. I'm not Mormon so if I were to convert I would need more evidence.
Learned so much. I love the spirit felt here.
Great place to learn more about the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Newly remodeled inside. Its beautiful. There is a new dome theater. It projects a movie about Jospeh Smith. There are hands on activities to keep children engaged. Great place for families of all ages.
Awesome experience. Lots of church histort
Went in the the museum not knowing what to expect. Took a couple coworkers with me because we were in town for a conference. I really enjoyed it, my coworkers that aren't members really liked the experience. The movie of Joseph Smith's First vision was amazing. It is a big wrap around screen that gives a 3D experience, makes you feel like you are in the Sacred Grove. Really was a cool place to visit.
Good place to find out interesting information about the church of jesus christ and there are several opportunities for children's activities
Nice friendly people. Ben the security guarf is very nice very professional and very alert to his surroundings. It was a pleasure speaking with him and learning more about the Mormon culture. Aside from taking time out of his busy day to make sure we were dafe he explained some things to me and made it easier to understand. Good people. Very nice clean museum.
The 180 degree theater presentation, filmed on location in Palmyra, New York, is a great start on your visit. Young kids find neat doors to open and secret areas just for them. Fascinating items to see are the actual printing press used to print the 1st edition Book of Mormon, an actual printers manuscript page of the same, the outfit Hyrum Smith was wearing when he and his brother Joseph were killed & the death masks of both of them. Near the main floor bathroom is a medium-sized painting of Lehi's Vision of the Tree of Life. It is amazing! For smaller kids, the top floor section for them is a nice break from running around downtown & Temple Square. I especially like the interactive toys and building sets. Historical artifacts abound from the Presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the same floor. A great gift shop with a myriad of items awaits you on the way out. The hosts are friendly, abounding with information, wit and resources for any question. Plan 2 or 3 hours.
I love to go there with my kids. They always have interactive activities for kids and adults beside all the history of the church. Great place for tourist.
The newly renovated Church History Museum is a great place to go and spend some time learning more of the early years of the church. My kids enjoyed looking at all the displays and the interactive learning stations. It's beautifully done. There's a full size Angel Moroni there that my 6'4" son stood by. I wish I could take all my early morning seminary students from Seattle there!
Free admittance! There is so much for the children to do and explore! Also, a 360° immersive video screen to see the Joseph Smith story is thrilling for all! With exhibits and interactive experiences abounding, no one will be bored. Definitely worth going again and again! Also bring your pocket change (or more) for the wonderful gift shop! Beautiful Christian art work, plus your favorite collectibles like postcards and stretched pennies. An absolute must see for Salt Lake City visitors!
We very much enjoyed all of the exhibits and programming depicting the early days and history of the church through the course of the years leading to the present. They had an art competition and exhibit that had some great entries from a wide array of artists and different types of artistic talent. The gift shop had some unique pieces of art and memorabilia that appears to only be available at the museum store. Well worth the time spent.
Awesome setup of information and relics. The interactive activities were really good and easy to understand. There was plenty of room for a lot of people to go through at once. Lots to do and see and short enough to get through in a relatively short amount of time. It covers a lot of history clearly.
This museum is one of the few hands on museums I have seen. And this is very well done. Very self explanatory. Fantastic learning environment. Even when everyone and there dog are visiting from all across the world. 10/10 would recommend.
So many outstanding historical displays! The people serving there know their stuff!
Always interesting but then I’m LDS. May not be very interesting to someone who isn’t Mormon.
Theres a really great collection of art here. I go to this place often to have enjoy the peaceful ambiance.
Love this place. The history walk, 1st vision video, all the hands-on stuff, interactive exhibits make for a fun time. Upstairs, they have temporary exhibit that changes once in while. Always worth the time.
This is a great museum for so many reasons. It is beautiful and spacious, with many exhibits to browse and ponder your way through. Travelers curious about the Latter Day Saint religion will find historical elements and artifacts held dear by members of this church. Even if you’re not interested in history alone there are still many works of art gracing all floors of the museum to keep art buffs busy admiring. An interactive child’s room had hands on experiences for kids of all ages to get wiggles out, doodle, and enjoy themselves. We also enjoyed the small gift store and found several things we decided to purchase as souvenirs for our trip. I will be going back, to keep up with visiting exhibits as I have never been disappointed with them in the past.
The experience you have while at the church family history museum is life-changing. You are greeted by the kindest people and are then shown how you can easily figure out your family history. Each interactive exhibit then invites you to dive into your ancestors' lives and get to know them better than you ever had. You come away from it all not only with a better sense of where you came from, but who you are as a result. If you have the time, dedicate a few hours to come visit and you will not be disappointed.
Great place to learn about your ancestors and get excited about genealogy. Helpful and friendly staff.
Entirely fascinating western history and settlement history. My family has been to the museum a few times and we always find something different there. The staff at the museum make themselves available to explain and answer questions. There are a number of personal artifacts and hands on displays that inform the larger story of western settlement. Definitely worth exploring and finding out about later day saint history and their place in populating the west.
Just go. Get to SLC and check out the museum. It can be life changing!
Very nice staff. Interesting place. Worth to visiting during waiting flight in salt lake city
It was honestly so much fun! I would suggest also doing the detective thingy! ❤❤❤
Loved going here. My kids had fun and was very informative.
Nice clean place, plenty of things to look at.
Always a great time for viewing things about your family history and the world in which your ancestors made things possible for us all to have a better life today. I am grateful for my family.
Good place for kids and families.
Love the history there.
Free place to beat the heat and learn about church history. they have small activities for the kids.
We came to see the pioneer exhibition So much more to see
Beautiful displays telling the story of the early Church of LDS. Worth the time to get the background needed to understand Temple Square and environs.
Phenomenal experience. The art display touched my heart. There are powerful pieces that spoke to my heart.
A great place to learn more about the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
I was actually surprised by the quality of the Church History Museum. I have not been in years but since then the entire thing has completely been redone. Staff their is so nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. If you have a few extra hours downtown and are looking for something free to do I would recommend coming here!
Updated and great movie.
I have been listening to the book The Saints. So it was super cool to see the history museum with artifacts regarding the book.
Amazing, free museum. Was blown away by the First Vision theater. Couldn't believe the international art competition gallery.
Helped me to understand Mormonism. I could relate to going into the woods for an answer when you feel conflicted.
Free, nteresting, fun, and interactive. Has a play place for kids!
It was a nice place to go. People are friendly and helpful. They are very accommodating so even if you are not a member of the Mormon church, you should be able to enjoy your time.
My son wants to go back. We just stopped in as we were at temple square and needed to use the restrooms. My young son was amazed at all the pictures and wanted to spend the rest of the day there. We didn't have time that day but we will definitely be going back!
Well maintained library focusing on morman Christian beginning and founding. How people from all over the world traveled here and the hard ships they faced. Art from followers depicting religion and life as they and others see it.
An excellent blend of relics of the past and the technology of the present. The Joseph Smith vision movie is presented amazingly in almost VR.
Wonderful historical exhibits and beautiful art galleries.
This museum is incredible. There are tons of amazing, interactive exhibits with incredible surrounding videos, talking picture frames, and artifacts. Upstairs was the art exhibit which was fantastic. The quality of artwork was astounding. We could have spent hours up there. I would highly recommend this.
Amazing art exhibit going on right now. Sad they had to take the kids area it for it but they do still have a small play area. The first vision screen was great.
Created for visitors who are not Mormon. Good history telling through interactive exhibits. Enjoyed it greatly.
Cannot recommend this enough! All of the exhibits are informative and interesting. Member of the Church or not this is a must see when you visit Temple Square. Plus the kids exhibit upstairs so cool! My little one LOVES it.
Very good place to visit. Very educational. And its free.
The Church of Jesus Christ History Museum has interactive displays that are fun for all ages. My kiddos loved the art work. The docents were kind and the staff was friendly
Worth the time to find parking & walk to the museum. A visit to the museum will give a perspective on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the eyes & experiences of its early members. Interactive displays are sprinkled throughout the museum. The gift shop offers something for every budget & helps it remain open free of charge.
I use to think this was a very informative museum of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It made for a fun, evening visit with the spouse. However, I LOVE the remodel because now it's an interactive and fun Museum for family members of ALL ages. My 16 month old loved it! I'm excited to bring grandparents and neices and nephews to visit!
So amazing..loved the artwork on the second floor
Great atmosphere and helpful workers. Lots of cool things to look at or just a good place to relax inside and enjoy the displays.
I love the exhibits at the Church History Museum. It was fascinating to see so many artifacts from the early days of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There were all sorts of interactive displays, tactile exhibits, and stories from journals of the saints who lived through all of the historical events. Every visit I've made to this museum has been both entertaining and educational. It's a great place to visit as a family activity or even as a solo educational visit.
Beautiful art. Love the atmosphere.
As a non Mormon this museum was super informative. I enjoyed reading about the church's history and then ask my husband about the events.
My while family loved this place. Videos, historical artifacts, audio presentations, etc for pretty much any age. Set up kind of like a maze so each little stop feels private, like you have it all to yourself for the moment.
The missionary I spoke to wasnt being straight forward about Joseph's practice of polygamy and the number of wives he had. She also didn't understand the Council of Fifty and how Joseph became a king of this shadow government.
Absolutely Outstanding. A must for any history buff
Had a great time exploring the library. The exhibits are really great!!!! I absolutely love the first vision movie. Really well done and worth a view. O have been through the restoration exhibit twice now and it was informative both times! If you found this review helpful please give it an old thumbs up!!
Third u.s. a great place to learn about the history if The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. They have plenty of hands-on activities and interactive displays. In addition, there is an art display on the second floor and art related activities for the kids. We spent half a day here, and our youngest is only 5. Everyone was entertained.
Always a great place to visit. Informative, interactive and free. Fun areas for kids and a nice art gallery along with some great video experiences. Plan at least an hour, probably two. Definitely worth a visit.
You could spend a day on each of the three floors and still not see everything. Everyone was so nice and all of the info was so interesting. Very enjoyable.
This museum has a wonderful, engaging exhibit about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There are movie presentations, hands-on exhibits, personal recollections and knowledgeable staff to assist you. There is a wonderful, well priced gift shop, plenty of rest rooms and drinking fountains. The top floor is a gallery for art exhibition, and when I was there the exhibit was art submitted by members of the Church for the annual art competition. It did not disappoint! The museum is FREE and open to all ages!
See art for free! Good art! Stuff that will move you. Well-crafted. Meticulous. Inspired by God and genius.
Every time I go here I love looking at things I didn't look at before and reading more about them. it was a fun experience, it has been a while since I went upstairs too I loved reading about all the past prophets.
So much history. Loved the church president's exhibits.
Incredible art! Love circle vision depiction of Joseph Smith's vision.
We took our son here for his 2nd birthday and he had a blast. He loved all the pictures of Jesus!
This museum is great for all ages , they have fun activities for kids and the paintings are beautiful!
I visited during the showing of the winners of the national art contest. I was awed by the selection and amazed at the variety of talent.
Besides the great art displays that change every few months, the children's section is hands on and fun. This visit, they had a water color painting lesson for adults, where you could paint a post card to mail to a friend. The gift shop is really nice too.
Fun to see all of the relics of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It had lots of interactive displays for kids and the art gallery on the upper floor is a good place for adults and reflecion.
A nice museum overall. It's completely focused on the history of the Latter Day Saints so you can expect some interesting stories if you haven't done any personal research. Really it was quite informative.
Good museum. Describes aspects of the Mormon's experiences from upstate New York, westward to Utah.
You could spend hours here learning about post and modern church history. Lots of activities for kids, multiple video stations for individual leaders and an amazing video about Joseph Smith.
A beautiful place, very inspiring. It shows how hard were the trials for the pioneers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Great place to learn about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ. There are some hands on activities.
This was a bit of a disappointment. Most everything in there I had seen at other locations, just not what I was expecting
Some really fun artifacts here, and then some really interesting art displays.
We had a wonderful time looking at fun family connections and learning a bit more about where we came from.
This is a superb place to go to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The ground floor of the museum walks you through the first years of the church. There is a short video of Joseph Smith's first vision. The film is projected on a panoramic curved wall. You feel as though you are right in the middle of the forest. Very respectful depiction. Lots of fun activities for all ages. The upstairs has a gallery with artifacts and information on each of the modern day prophets. The other part of the upstairs has a changing gallery. This year there is art from the worldwide art competition displayed. Truly talented pieces of art! We try to visit every summer when we are in Utah.
We never make it through the whole place because the kids spend so much time at the exhibits. It's fun. Educational and the docents are knowledgeable.
It's been updated since in was there last. I loved how clean and orderly everything is and love the new interactive features.
Great place to learn Western history.
Very informative. Well done with lots of information.
