Connor Lee-Wen

The temporary collections that go through here are amazing, not to mention the outstanding permanent collections. Plus, it's free, so why not? Definitely worth the trip. Definitely will continue to visit here for years to come.

Rachael Reynolds

I love the BYU Museum of Art! Today's exhibits were especially fantastic. The whole family enjoyed it (6 year old along) and we always enjoy a trip through the gift shop at the end. The have the cleverest little trinkets, beautiful journals, and art work too. Great visit today!

Composing Gloves

Was very unbalanced this time around. Death and war where the main topic in nearly every room. Wished I had not gone. Maybe next time it will be more balanced. Not kid friendly.

Kathy Brown

Amazing, free, art displays. The Windswept exhibit is incredible! I can't believe this place is free.

Karani Namunyu

There are very beautiful pieces of art to see

Pamela V

Great museum, double check the hours before you go, the change for spring/summer semester.

Joseph Tyre

A full fledged free museum. Quite amazing. Make sure to check out "In the Arena."

Anna Redd

We really enjoyed the Windswept exhibit. It's amazing to see how it was actually assembled.

Jade Muse

This museum at BYU is one of the more popular ones, boasting an indoor restaurant and various displays. The exhibit I included was created by Patrick Dougherty, renowned internationally for his amazing branch sculptures. It should remain there until April 2019. The atmosphere is as expected, quiet and no backpacks or larger are allowed inside, the staff providing a bin for your belongings. Great place but I rarely go as, not an art fan.

Elena Pokrovskaya Marvin

Most pleasant and educational experience for me and my children. We love BYU MOA!

Tyson Wheare

I miss the plethora of museums that I used to be able to visit when I lived in New York. BYU Museum of Art helps to nicely fill that gap. I have enjoyed every visit I have made there! And, am especially thankful for the special events they have provided to all of us (such as "Beauty and Belief" or Monet exhibits, etc.)...and for free! Many thanks to BYU for offering so many amazing artists to us - that we might see the world and its cultures in new and enlightened ways!

Ryan Maxwell

The after Promontory display was amazing.

Bryan Fisher

The rainbow thread exhibit was so cool! Beautiful art.

Daniel Cueva

Free museum with great rotating exhibits. It's worth visiting while visiting the BYU campus.

Lilly Riordan

Fantastic place to take the family!!

Dave Matthews

I love this museum great exhibits!!

Katrina Dobieski

Wonderful exhibit, well hosted. Loved "Wind Blown", a walkable masterpiece.

Andy Lippert

A museum on a campus, what's there to not like? There's always a cool exhibit to visit.

Micah Goodwin

Art After Dark is my favorite on campus event! They always have great exhibits cycling through. The current one on propaganda is thought provoking.

Melissa Jean Terry

Love the MOA and especially the bookstore! Got a really cool exhibit right now too of these Willow branch tree creations.

Josh Tripp

Meh. There were two exhibits and both were mildly interesting. The rainbow strings installation in the main lobby was probably the most interesting thing I saw there, and it wasn't part of either exhibit.

Charlotte Fowers

I always love coming here. Fabulous installation right now

Nathan Major

Excellent art museum, especially for a university. Their works rotate at a regular clip so there's always going to be something you want over the course of a year.

Kelly B

Great art! Good rotation of exhibits and good permanant exhibits. Good gift shop, great cafe. One of my favorite places on campus!

Jeff Turner

This place is always great! Their permanent collection pieces are wonderful!

John Davis

Most exhibits are free. I have seen quite a few over the years. The current one is great with the Pulitzer prize winning photos.

Daniel Child

The museum of art is always a nice quiet place to sleep if you are a student. If I am eating it for that then it is absolutely five stars. As a museum I give it four as the displays and exhibits are always good and well thought out. My only suggestion is that the museum look for some more ways to make things a little more engaging. There has been some use of tablets with videos but (in my experience) there could definitely be some ways to make it more engaging and dynamic.

Seth Taylor

I love this place. Every time I come where I wish I could stay for a couple of more hours. Thanks to all the donors and curators that bring such interesting and intriguing art to us.

Elizabeth R

Such a great place! While Windswept was awesome, it was smaller than expected so we headed over to the Bean Museum (also free) after.

Karen Gale

Amazing exhibit! Professional, clean, nice flow, great staff. An unforgettable experience!

Brie

I love going here. There are new exhibits all the time. And my favorite one is always there (the colored strings across the ceiling when you walk in). Very beautiful work . There's always at least one thought provoking exhibit and one that is more geared towards the kids (is the correct word fun? Yes, I think so) so it is great for the family

Lorin Hendricks

It is free and very clean and open with some incredible exibits that come though. (Check the website for dates) honestly never a bad choice for date or whatever (cafe and gift shop might be closed sometimes especially in the summer)

Otto De Groff

There is always something interesting and thought provoking to see here!

Evan Heywood

I've come to visit this museum ever since I was a kid and my family moved to Utah. I've always loved it here, the variety of art and styles that you encounter at this museum has kept my intrigue since I was young (about 10 yrs old). My father used to be head over custodial/ maintenance for part of BYU campus when I was younger and this art museum was one of the buildings he looked after. He had to commute about an hour to work each day, plus he held two jobs at times and I didn't always get to see him. I remember going with him some early mornings or late nights and spending the day with him as he worked. I loved going with him as he would light new exhibits or help set some things up. Often I would get to see art projects before others or during the creation process. It was a lot of fun for me as a kid.

Heber Cook

World class art and presentation

McCall Castro

The MOA always has several beautiful art installations going on at any given time. The permanent pieces located there are lovely and but the temporary exhibits are always breathtaking.

Hannah Waite

We love the MOA! My favorite is the rainbow threads, they're so captivating! Go look at it from the upstairs level!

Bear Lawrence

The no pictures policy is ridiculous. I have been told countless times to put my camera phone away. Even for statues and art installations! So all of these pictures on these reviews are, according to the website, extremely against the rules. The Louvre allows photography for personal use. The National Gallery allows photography for personal use. MANY art museums allow photography for personal non commercial use. Until this is changed I will travel elsewhere for art museums.

Abram Clements

This is a fun and free venue. The content here is always uplifting, looking to make the world a better place through inspiring art. They also have events from time to time. Be sure to check out the outside if you are here on a sunny day. They have a small water feature around back and the trees are just beautiful in the fall! As you can see from the picture taken from the back :)

John Wilkinson

This place is fantastic.

Angela Kramer

Really enjoyed the art variety!

Aubrey Wood

Ummm it’s free. I know the art changes so my review will not be totally helpful but I have gone a few times and it’s just hard to figure out where to go there is no flow and really no significant signage to explain how to use some of the interactive features. I will keep coming but I wish there was a little more thought to the viewers coming in

Maren Coffelt

Beautiful and spiritual place to visit!

aaron Beckyghgg

This place was very cool, lots of great artwork.

Randy Warren

Love going here

Cynthia Butcher

My husband and I went here on a date. They were giving out giant cookies. My husband loved that! They had an exhibit with Pulitzer prize photos from years past. It was so emotional, seeing these events in picture that I remember hearing about or reading about through the decades. It was raw and it was real!

Sherri Sagers

We went for a specific exhibit, but stayed for the tour of the regular, rotating exhibit in the lower floor. The tour was incredibly interesting and we wished we had planned more time to be there. It was thought-provoking and inspiring. Still can't believe it was free.

Meleofa Baker

Beautiful place. Peaceful spaces and interesting exhibits. We visited the while Windswept was an exhibit. Loved it!

Elaine Kemp

Windswept was amazing! Still nothing trumps Carl Boch's The Pool of Bethsaida.

Samantha Pentz

The museum is free and there re always exciting new exhibits. Sometimes there are even free events with love music. Besides those events, it's very quiet. Either way, it's a wonderful place to go see. If you plan on just stopping by quickly you'll be sad you couldn't see everything and you'll definitely plan to come again!

Amanda O'Connor

This place was really cool. They had an m c Escher xzibit I just had to go see downstairs. Great stuff on display and neat things to buy on the way in. I would definitely return to see what other cool exhibits they have:-)

J Mullis

We attended a special showing of Norman Rockwell art, and had a delightful time.

Garrison Kleinman

Nice museum, well worth the visit.

N1GHTHAWK

A lot of interesting art installations. I wasn't here that much (this is just where we had the opening meeting every day for Design Week), but what I saw was nice.

Karen Bergendorf

The atmosphere is always great at the museum. The photography exhibit was excellent. I brought some international students to see the exhibit and they also enjoyed it. The tour guide was superb!

Sooryun Lee

Always a nice place to visit. They have good exhibits all the time. Can't believe that there is no entrance fee. It's clean and family friendly. The small store has a lot of interesting and cute stuff.

Jentry Wilson

I loved the Pulitzer Prize exhibit! It was really moving! The MOA always has great exhibits!

Brett R. Brown

The art museum is great. You can't complain about a free museum. We usually make a point to see the museum every time we visit we make it a point to visit the museum. We visit seldom enough that we usually see a new exhibit. Most recently I saw the Pulitzer prize photos. It is a very emotional exhibit. Reminded me a little of the Holocaust museum because there is a lot of tragedy recorded by the photos. But there are also photos of hope. I think it is a must see. I wish I had more time to visit.

Shelley Colton

Beautiful campus and grounds. Enjoy the museums, concerts, conferences, bowling alley, other events and creameries.

Durga Prasad Dandu

Musuem everyone should at least know some beautiful things on earth

Eric Peterson

The MOA is just perfect. It brings the best exhibits, it has some of the most amazing permanent collections, it rotates the exhibit frequently, it is not too crowded, it has plenty of parking, there is always something for everybody's taste, and it is always free. The MOA always has a variety of different art styles from classical oil on canvas to modern multimedia art; and, from Rodin's sculptures to Norman Rockwell's prints. Current temporary exhibits: Tiffany Glass, M. C. Escher, and Nina Katchadourian's Curioser. All three of them are amazing and not to be missed. Curioser was a very pleasant surprise. This was a fun and very clever exhibit combining video and photography.

Ethan Bernards

The BYU MOA is one of Provo's gems. With a regularly shifting exhibition of amazing art, frequent public events, and no cost of admission, there is literally no downside to visiting! Even as someone who typically has little patience for art, the MOA has drawn me in time and time again. I would HIGHLY recommend visiting it at least once.

Aaron Frisbie

A very unique museum with some very amazing artwork. There are some ineffably beautiful pieces of work here. A great mix of religious art and contemporary artwork also so it's never boring and you're never looking at just one main theme. Once you're finished here if you cross the little courtyard and go into the next building you can view the student artwork which was amazing also. There are some very talented people out there and this is a great place to see some of that talent displayed! Also easy to find, free parking, neat little gift shop as soon as you walk in, and best of all it's free to enter the museum!!

Alex

Probably one of the better and big art museums in Utah

Colleen Weaver

Beautiful campus very peaceful. Each one is very kind.

tay gudmundson

All of my kids love visiting the moa. And so do us adults. Their rotating exhibits are usually really really cool, plus the permanent collection is remarkable. It's worth going to and they don't glare at you for bringing your kids.

Briston Walker

Very nice place and even nicer staff. And lots to look at!

Denise Sagendorf

We went to the museum for a field trip. The students really enjoyed it.

Kristy Nuttall

I was completely mesmerized by this amazing exhibit by Patrick Dougherty. The woven branches with windows, doorways, and hidden nooks created a sense of childhood wonder and magic.

Lindsay Robison Killian

That rainbow. Breathtaking. Different from every angle. Disappearing and reappearing colors. Wonderful to have that representation of multicolored humanity (not only in the rainbow by Gabriel Dawe, but in the earth work of Danae Mattes, and the sticks of Patrick Dougherty) amidst not-so-much of the same oftentimes It's an Ok reminder

Douglas Decker

Good family friendly environment

Dineshkumar Ponnusamy

Good place for art lovers.

Joe Brown

Great wood vine exhibit. Really cool.

Madison Fullmer

It's free, and has some really cool exhibits with the occasional exceptional exhibits

Abby D

A very fun museum with some great installations! Such an easy and free thing to do

Natalie Nordlund

I think it is okay for adults (not a ton to see) but it's not that great for kids and the security guard made my 5 year old cry because he got to close to an exhibit (didn't touch it but she snapped at him). He cried the whole way home.

Derek Blad

The exhibits are always some of the best in the nation. The BYU Museum of Art has a pretty impressive owned collection, including many famous Carl Bloch paintings. It seems like every few months they install a new awesome exhibit to keep the artwork fresh and revolving. Highly recommended for anyone, from serious artists to those who don't even consider themselves interested in art! This is such a great place!

James Mietchen

This is a beautiful facility filled with wonderful and uplifting art. Some exhibits change the main collection is permanent. This is a wonderful place to introduce children two art museums. It is not too very large for them to enjoy.

Nicolay Garcia

Nice and free. There are expositions that are seasonal. It’s kids/family friendly.

Jade G

Always excellent exhibits. Good variety.

Júlia Domingos

It's a beautiful place and super organized!!

Aaron Schloemer

Home to an excellent collection of artwork. Inviting without being too stuffy or intimidating.

Cristina Ostler

I love the MOA... it's really pretty and fun to just go and expand my mind looking at all of the incredible art.

Courtney Bennett

The MOA is a fantastic place to visit. They have wonderful art and fun, free toddler activities.

David C

The BYU Museum of Art has free admission and it almost always has several very interesting exhibits. My wife and I go there every few months to see the new exhibits.

Erica Vernon

The Museum of Art, like the Bean Museum, is a gift to our community in Provo. I love to see folks sketching here, it means that love of art is spreading. Very serene, well curated museum that helps keep all of us more closely connected to the world.

Rachel Hall

REALLY cool exhibits here. They had an amazing section on art in church history. They also had an amazing room of wood structures. Super cool

Peter Van Leeuwen

This was a very nice environment to be in. It was free and the parking was easy. It's a nice place to come to for a little bit and to relax. It's not to out of the way either and mostly it isn't too busy when there aren't any recently new exhibits.

Jacob Jensen

A super diverse selection of expositions, almost always including something religious, something modern, and the occasional really well known artist like Andy Warhol.

Julia DeLeeuw

They always bring amazing must see exhibits that you would expect to only see in big major cities. We are so grateful for this museum and how they provide great art to our Utah valley area.

Rene Barrera

Good place to spend time learning and appreciating art in the area.

Maria Cameron

My husband and I visited the Museum of Art while touring the Brigham Young University campus. It's a gem, and absolutely free. The "Windswept" exhibit was great: we had previously seen an installation by Patrick Dougherty at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, so were excited to view his work again. We also loved the "Becoming America" exhibit, the standout pieces of which included portraits by Maynard Dixon

Dallin Cazier

I always love a free museum, and this is one of the best I have been to. The displays are refreshed frequently and everything is kept clean and orderly.

Pedro Neldersal

A friend recommended the museum as a good activity with the kids. What a find! It is clean, FREE, and was so much fun. Everyone was very friendly and nice.

Jeremy Floyd

Always uplifting.

Fireking 10

Interesting exhibits, wish it was bigger though

Rebeka

Very fun museum with professional, well curated exhibits. It's a good place to kill some time if you want something fun to do!

Marshall Bartlett

Great FREE museum with interesting pieces, a relaxed and kid-friendly atmosphere, and beatiful gallery spaces. BYU has done a great job on the building and has consistently brought interesting art and cultural pieces to Utah Valley. Well worth a visit of 1-2 hours.

James Tucker

This is a great experience!

Austin Vaterlaus

Fun place to go as a family or on dates! You might was to call or scope it out ahead of your visit because when we went more than half the exhibits were closed.

Michelle Stone

I come here whenever I have the chance. There are rotating exhibits so it doesn't get stale. Most of the museum is free but occasionally some exhibits charge a few dollars to get in... definitely worth it. Don't miss the gardens outside they are my favorite part. When I was a student it was a lovely break between classes to rejuvenate and now as an alumni it's a great place to spend time while waiting for others. Do be advised that you'll need to check big bags, and strollers can't always navigate the large installations.

Birgitte Smoot

They have an outstanding permanent collection, and bring in the highest level touring exhibits. If you've seen it once, it isn't enough. Come back regularly to be edified and inspired.

Patti Gierke

Very nice! Enjoyed the Mahonri Young exhibit a lot.

Brandon Chip Baggett

This place is great for the family. The low cost (nothing) makes this a fun date and the ever changing exhibits provide plenty of reasons to return. Every other month, the place feels like a new experience so I would definitely advise regularly checking out their online schedule.

Michael Miles

I love to visit this place. The temporary exhibits are wonderful.

s lynn

It's free! Love the artwork and fun to see the changing exhibits. My favorites are the paintings by Minerva Teichert. Cute gift shop and friendly employees.

Donna Thompson

Gorgeous. Inspiring. Evocative. I love museums. I especially liked the gift shop, where I found a book of Minerva Teichert art.

A Hubscher

It's good, but rather small. There's really not a lot to see like in the other BYU museums. That being said, the art in it is all beautiful. Great for a short date or family visit.

Allyson Jennings-Johnson

There are some amazing installations there! I thought it would mostly be religious works, but there were other interesting sculptures and photographs too. They change their exhibits frequently.

Heather Cowan

Beautiful space. Clean facility and amazing art

Brett Ogden

Great museum. Free entry. Visit the MOA cafe for lunch when you’re there.

Hillary Diven

I really loved this place but didn't really love the exhibit with the tree limbs. I might have liked it better if it was outside.

Sarah Leavitt

Awesome. Great exhibits in Special Collections!

Mikkia Osman

So cool! 5 stars for art exhibit. The food at the cafe is great but takes FOREVER to get your food.

travel monkeys

Awesome!! Windswept was incredible! A must see. To imagine such a feat inside a building is incredible!

Katharina Green

I learned a lot.

William Frazier

They regularly get new exhibits. Very good for a date night and doesn't cost anything. I highly recommend it. Just watch the hours of operation carefully. Some days the close very early.

Eliza Lahti

The museum is free but still has riveting exhibits. Always kept clean. The gift shop is so cute, full of unique but fun things and the employees there are very kind and helpful.

Gerratt Bethers

So many great exhibits

Garret Quinton

Fun fact: ART IS HUMAN EXPRESSION. And every piece of art is a different expression of the human soul. The MOA is great to see art of course! But good conversations, fun dates, and interesting new ideas come of the place. If you like those things, then you know what? The BYU MOA is the place for you. [This statement is endorsed by Garret Quinton.]

Richie Franklin

Free entry and cool exhibits. We saw Escher last year and Windswept this year. We live visiting the MOA as a family.

Stephen Loper

For fine art, this is the best show in town. The exhibits are high quality in many cases. They even get incredible exhibits at times. Unfortunately, they aren't regular attractions. Not every museum can have a Monet exhibition, but getting M.C. Escher is an awesome consolation prize!

Rebekah Webb

This museum is so cool, with so many great art displays that rotate frequently. The cafe has some good eats as well.

Kathy Tenney

Peaceful, beautiful art work, not crowded.

Scott Gonzales

Good art exhibits, for a good price,FREE.

Beth MIllett

The exhibit they have now is cool but there isn't a ton to see at the museum currently

S Harper

Stunning collection... Especially for a college-based museum.

Darrell Lau

They always have very interesting exhibits.

Jake Highfield

Gorgeous museum with lots to offer. Very LDS and America-focused. A wide range of exhibitions to pique the interest of anyone

Stephanie Morgan

I'm always glad to visit this amazing place. I love their exhibits!

Kate Moore

The bottom floor of the museum is super boring for kids. Some adults may enjoy it, but not really much to see. The top floor always has cool exhibits and also has a gift shop type place as well. There is no touching allowed, but you can take photos as long as you don't use a flash. The security staff is wary of children, but has been pretty understanding when we've been there.

LeeAnn Ostia

Great museum. The windswept exhibit is really beautiful. Plus you have to come see this permanent rainbow upon entering. Love it!

Patrick K

Visited the museum for a traveling exhibit of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs. A fantastic exhibit

Pat Ling

Wonderful place to visit and enjoy the campus and artwork

Matt Krista Sorensen

We love the changing exhibits. There is always something new to see.

Aubree Williams

One of my favorite places in provo

Debbie

Free art museum with changing exhibits in a beautiful, new, comfortable building. They have a fun little gift shop too. It is on the campus of BYU and parking is also free.

Julie Duran

This is a wonderful place. It's got rotating exhibits, always well presented, and always free. They do a great job of bringing in things to blow your mind, make you ponder, or bring peace to your soul. A great date night, scout activity, family night, etc.

Mailea Armatage

Always have incredible exhibits as well as a darling gift shop. I believe they even have a little restaurant on the top floor.
