They have the real skeletons dug up from nearby digs in Baylor county. Well displayed with great information on what the prehistoric animal was. Some are one of kind not found anywhere else .

I think the best part of this place was talking to the people in the back working on the fossils. They were very enthusiastic about their work.

Stuart Halverson

A great little museum for a day trip.

Nathan Rice

Very informative and fun. The staff are great, as are the exhibits.

Krystal James

Great stop for the dino lover in your family! Lots of creatures from the Permian. Plus, they have more than dinosaurs, there is a room full of local wildlife, a room of African animals, a room full of live reptiles, and the lab where volunteers careful excavate the fossils brought back from the field. Over all a neat stop!

Garren Donelson

This is nice spot just south of Vernon texas.

Such an amazing museum in Seymour! The exhibits and and other activities can make it a full day trip. There is also a neat music park across the street, fun for all ages.

Lauren Disney

This is one of the greatest natural history museums in the country! It's on the smaller side, but the Curator/Director, Chris, is such a neat person who proudly showcases what has been found in the local area. The highlight is a really neat working Paleontology lab with many specimens that trained volunteers are uncovering. It was definitely worth the four hour drive for us & we'll be returning soon!

Josh Davis

Really cool place to visit. It currently has the world's most accurate T-Rex model

This is a very nice museum. I read several nice reviews and totally agree. I got the closing time wrong and we arrived 15 min to close. We were still allowed to look around as long as we liked and the staff was very friendly. There are live animals too. The work they are doing with the locally found fossils is wonderful. There are several great displays and you can watch them work with the fossils.

Where can you go and talk with paleontologists while they scrape rock off ancient fossils? Been 3 times. Not just a museum but a working laboratory. Worth a day trip from Dallas. The Rolling Plains is dinosaur central....

A friend of mine and I went here just to check out the town of Seymour. It was well worth it. We wanted to see this museum and the sound garden across the street. I was surprised at the quality of the exhibits. The staff are friendly. We got there very close to closing, but they let us in, and didn't rush us at all. Always willing to answer questions and talk a bit about what we were looking at. If you ever pass through Seymour, take the time to stop and check this place out, you'll be glad you did.

Best small town Museum ever! The displays change regularly and it seems like there is always a new discovery. Paleo lab open to public! Love animal Zoozeum. Check out their Facebook page for info.

Ren Scarbrough

Wonderful museum with a fantastic collection of local Permian fossils on display. These fossils are older than the dinosaurs and include favorites like Dimetrodon and Diplocalus. Exhibits are engaging, creative, thought provoking, and descriptive. You can even watch them work in the active Paleo lab where local fossils are openly prepped. Anyone interested in paleontology could easily spend hours and hours here.

This place is small but totally worth it. They have a fossil prep lab that is open to the public. This gives everyone a chance to see what happens behind the scenes at a museum. Best of all, most everything is collected locally

This museum is a must see for dinosaur lovers. It is located in the town where the fossils we're actually discovered! They have the history of the dinosaurs, great mock ups, and lots of real fossils! The museum is well taken care of and has a lot of interactive displays. They have a room with some taxidermy animals that are local and some that are from other countries. There is a live reptile room that has all kinds of snakes and lizards. Then there is the fossil lab where you can see real fossils being cleaned up to be put on display!! What a magnificent experience. I don't know any museum like it.

Absolutely a jewel of a family friendly venue, with a true variety of natural science focused on local finds and ongoing work. Enough to see that you can spend all day, but not so much you're overwhelmed. Most enjoyable!!

We had a group of adults who rented the museum for a Night At The Museum Christmas party and it was great. The displays are amazing and it was so interesting to see the dinosaurs that actually existed right here in Baylor County. I especially enjoyed seeing the workroom where the bones are taken to be pieced together. The curator did an awesome job of explaining everything. Very interesting. Definitely worth stopping to see if you are travelling through Seymour, or even if you live in Seymour. Don't miss it! This is a great place to visit and/or have a party. I promise you will leave knowing a bit more about dinosaurs and the process of digging them up.

This was a nice stop on our road trip. It was obvious that a lot of work went into the displays. There were no wheelchairs available for the handicapped, but there were multiple areas to sit down and rest while walking around the museum. Plan to stay around an hour or so.
