REVIEWS OF The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria IN Texas

When I visited, I wasn't given too much information. It was just a little off-putting when we first walked in. There's not much that's clearly marked. There was a bride in a chaise lounge being photographed in the room with the information desk. The worker at the desk told us somewhat vaguely that there were art exhibits outside and I picked up a map myself. The artwork was fantastic and so are the views. It was a great place to walk around for an afternoon. But I'd suggest investing a little more into signage at the very least.

One of the best kept secrets in terms of tourist stops in Austin. The grounds are beautiful, and the space really is wonderful for special events, or just a quiet morning walk on the grounds. Don't miss seeing the peacocks at Mayfield Park just nextdoor.

Came here for a mini golf exhibit and had a blast. The area is absolutely gorgeous!

Laguna Gloria is part of The Contemporary (formerly the Austin Museum of Art) and a beautiful property near Lake Austin. My main experiences here have been the annual La Dolce Vita Food and Wine Festival that serves as a fundraiser for the art school. I've volunteered for the event several years in a row and love seeing all the new artwork that gets added year to year.

Christy Horton

Beautiful, classic Austin location. Great for weddings, hosts my favorite event, La Dolce Vita, every year in the fall. Art classes are held on the grounds as well.

One of my favorite places to go. LOVE it here.

Mara Kennedy

It's hard to beat an outdoor sculpture garden that's also on the water! Definitely worth a visit for the location itself. The art is quirky and fun, but definitely very modern. You can go into the house and see a few of the rooms on the bottom floor. Your ticket also gets you access to the Contemporary Museum on Congress.

This place is such a great place to bring out of town friends. The house and natural surroundings is just amazing. Puts me in a good mood every time. Dogs are welcome to come with outside if they are on a leash. Tuesdays are their free days which is cool, they do accept donations though! The featured art changes through the year as well.

As a photographer, I absolutely love working at Laguna Gloria and teaming up with the The Contemporary Austin team. The property is incredibly beautiful and well-maintained, which makes this a no-brainer for bridal portraits, engagements, weddings - you name it. The team is professional and is truly dedicated to making sure that the Austin community gets to enjoy and appreciate the arts at The Contemporary. Their events and site rentals team always makes things easy - I would give the property 10 stars if I could.

I attended the Indie House Events launch at this beautiful venue. The parking is street parking so for bigger events I am unsure if they offer a different option but, I would opt for valet parking if you are having a wedding or classier affair. The grounds are gorgeous but, make sure you tell your guests to wear flats or shoes they can walk down stairs and across unpaved areas. The view at the bottom near the water is impeccable. I could see a beautiful wedding taking place here especially since they have a section for a ceremony with tiered seating for optimal views and picture taking options for all guests. I imagine that the area that we were in, which as water view access, would be great for a tented reception. I didn't see any bathroom options so, I can't comment on that but, overall this is a very beautiful venue with well manicured lawns that worked great for the event that I was at and I am sure it would for many others. It definitely has many photo op areas with lush greenery!

The inside portions are small, but the sprawling pathways through trees and beside the lake are spotted with interesting sculpture.

I found out about the Place through some friends and I'm really glad I found it because has some pieces from some amazing artists. Would highly recommend this place to anybody looking to spend a few hours in the beautiful Park and as a tourist fell really welcoming into Austin plus the staff was really nice at the help desk.

The AMOA Arthouse is one of a kind. The grounds are beautiful and the exhibitions are always interesting. The main building is rather small, but there is always a lot to see. They also have quite the variety of art classes for all ages. Definitely worth checking out even if you just walk around the grounds.

Tara Connolly

Amazing grounds and sculptures.

Serene and green but rather small - still a good spot to chill.

Beth McKinney

There are a lot of classes available here, and member previews are held here as well for those with a membership to AMOA/Arthosue (they're combined now). The grounds are beautiful, and there are many weddings associated with this place. If you've been to the museums downtown already and are looking for something new- take a short drive out here and get what you're looking for.

The sculptures most likely will not blow your mind away, but it is a very nice little park. Fee is $5 per person.

Super beautiful and awesome place to spend an afternoon outside, absolutely love everything about it. Nice drive too, free admission on Tuesdays I think

Moritz Lang

Such a great place to see contemporary art, relax, be in the nature. I really enjoyed my time here.

Joe Morse

I can't speak to the school here, but the historic building of Laguna Gloria is gorgeous and a real Austin treat. The tour is minimal but I'm really looking forward to one of the festivals that are held there annually (Italian fest and the Dolce Vita fund raiser are two that come to mind).

Robert S

Definitely worth a visit. No art inside, but a great place to walk around and spend an hour or so.

William Taylor

Beautiful Architecture of the Home turned art museum!

Liliia Mandrino

Perfect place for couples, families with kids who want to create something artsy or just walk around!

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria is a very relaxing and serene location situated on the bank of Lady Bird Lake near downtown Austin. Contemporary Artwork sculptures throughout the property add a visually intriguing element to the visit along with the various art workshop areas and classrooms.

John Chlebowski

Fine property to hold a wedding ceremony for over 200 guests; that's what I did.

Cheryl Kaufman

Great place to wander around among the tree lined paths around a lagoon with internationally respected contemporary sculpture. Beautiful grounds. Art school also located on the property. The classes I have taken were excellent.

Lorena Lopez

I love Laguna Gloria, the grounds are so nice. The house itself is fairly small but houses a nice collection.

Vu Doan

This is one of my most favorite museums in town. Beautiful landscaping. Right on the water. Some interesting art pieces in the main building. They also offer a variety of art classes throughout the year.

Fantastic museum with low admission fees. They even participate in Bank of America's Museums on Us program. Friendly staff and the outdoor sculpture garden is initially confusing but once you orient yourself, it's pretty easy. Lots of cool and unique pieces. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Liza Willmore

Beautiful grounds for La Dolce vita! It is an annual event where local restaurants and vendors setup booths for you to try their tasty morsels. All the proceeds go back to help out AMOA. Start looking for it during the summer!

We were taking a tour of Austin with an older lady friend who was showing us around the city and she brought us here. It was really a hidden gem. I had never heard about this place until this day. They have really cool sculptures and random pieces of art in the courtyard area when you drive in. There is not cost to drive in and park. It is completely free! They have a walkway where you can walk down to the lake and see the water and trails. We didn't get a chance to walk down the trails but they seemed really pleasant and made me want to come back just to check them out. They had a piece in the courtyard made from all recycled aluminum food storage containers. It was very cool and really BIG! I wish we had more time to check out more things. We will surely be coming back here very soon. So much to see , so little time !!

Rob Shook

A real treasure of Austin. Beautiful grounds and a great place to bring friends from out of town. An oasis just a short drive from downtown.
