We were the only ones here on a Tuesday morning. I wish we had more time to read everything but the 2 yo was a little feisty and not wanting to sit still. We arw going to come back when we can watch the film and tour the actual cotton gin. Steph was very friendly and informative.

This museum was way more interesting than I expected! I learned a lot about the types of cotton and how it has been processed. The tour of the gin itself is a must-do if you go to the museum. Walking around the rickety building and seeing all the machinery really brings it to life. No mention of race/poverty issues though.

Helen MOORE

The curator at the museum was awesome. Very informative

Somerville Elementary 4th graders loved the way cotton was ran thru the grinder. Their faces looked like sponges, soaking all the information the guides were telling.... in return they were full of questions!

Robert Vann

Lot of interesting Texas history. Watch movie before you do the gin tour, helps you understand what is going on!! Tour of cotton gin well worth it, but if you have bad knees or back it may not be easily accesible for you! Enjoyed every minute!!

Honey Whitesides

Awesome historical landmark in this little jewel of a town. Can see the Cotton Gin in operation during the Cotton Gin festival always in April.

Jennifer Hamann

This little museum is free and only a 2 minute detour. It was a last minute decision after asking Google Maps to show points of interest along putt route. *** was very hospitable and shared some knowledge about cotton in general and some interesting history. Example: Did you know natural cotton has many different varieties of color but that white was a hybrid selectively developed by man?

This is one of our favorite little Texas spots to visit. We try to attend the festival every year but we love getting the guided tours on non-festival days. It's a step back in time and a history-packed, entertaining experience. Love it!

This place is great country fun steeped in Texas history! This is our second visit, coming out for their 30th Annual Cotton Gin Festival. Lots of fun vendors, a classic car show, tractor pull, awesome local music and food, and they actually fire up the cotton gin and make a ceremonial bale! If you're ever in the area, stop by for a tour. It only takes an hour and the staff are very friendly, willing to answer all your questions. Find out how cotton shaped Texas history today!

Interesting museum but the star is the working cotton gin. Find a day when it's running (not often) and go then for a special experience.

I had a fabulous visit here. I was collecting geocache for the "Birthplace of Texas" geotour and this was one of the stops. I was lucky enough to get to actually see inside the gin mill. Met VelAnne who showed me around and offered history and information about the Gin, first families and places to eat. I also got to meet Ginner..a local young stray cat who came out of hiding to see what we were up to!! I enjoyed myself immensely and wish I could be in the area in April when the Cotton Gin is operating!

Rick Shope

(Translated by Google) Mr. Bill, our tour guide today was great. He explained everything in detail and answered all our questions. In any case, it is advisable to take a tour. This museum is small but fine.

Rich history of the impact that the cotton industry had on our nation. Staff does a fantastic job conducting a very interactive tour, a really personal experience. What a great asset to the commumity. Gift shop has unique specialty items. Well done!

Esad Yusuf KALENDER

Most friendly and positive ladies you can ever find work here. They'll take you on a whole tour through the cotton gin factory back there which is there since some 19th century and its still running perfectly. Theres an event area on the front yard where you can chill out with a lots of fresh air. Their restrooms are clean and fresh with powerful ac, and they have nice and cold water fountain in front.
