I had heard of Buffalo Gap all my life, but had never visited. My dad's family had reunions here for at least 45 years, but they ceased when my great-aunt was no longer able to be the organizer. I think the museum has done a very good job of representing early Taylor County history. My great grandparents homesteaded near Ovalo about 1906, so of course that early history is of interest to me. I might visit again, but on a less windy and cold day!

Roberta Schuelke

So interesting and well displayed and documented.

David Miller

A little bit run down could use some cleaning and upkeep one of the stops on there map was supposed to be a garden all I seen was a fenced in area for weeds

Preston Richards

This used to be a 5* museum, but has obviously gone downhill every since it became the Taylor County History Center. There used to be an audio guide that provided an excellent explanation of the various exhibits. Gone! There used to be an explanation in the Doctor's Office of the "Treatment Room". Gone! The Wagon Barn used to be open. Closed! None of the buildings that are open have any kind of lighting in them, so they're very dark, and it's hard to see what IS in them. I don't know if the original Buffalo Gap State Historic Park had to sell out because they were going bankrupt or not, but the result is a shadow of its former self. Shame on You!!! I won't be back.

Off the beaten path but buffalo gap is a great place to visit in the Abilene area. Buffalo gap village has been around as long as I can remember, cute place and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Come see how it was done long ago with historic buildings set up like they were a hundred years ago. Quite a bit to see here. Give yourself a couple hours.

Loved this place. Sadly, we didn't get to come while they were open. We just walked around the gate and admired from the outside. We will hopefully get a chance to revisit next year, and definitely will! Next time though, we will make note of the business hours.

I volunteered to assist to Pillage the Village. Even though I live three hours away. I will be back again to help. Very educational place to. visit. A 1880 entire village there.

It was fun to visit.

We took a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon exploring the buildings, playing on the marri-go-round, and reading fun facts. There are about 10 building including a bank, post office, jail, court house, blacksmith, and gas station on 4 acres. There is a covered picnic area and small play ground. This site is part of Abilene's Round Up pass (available at the Abilene visitor center) making it a fun cheap activity.

Roni Noone

Loved walking through with the kids. Self guided with lots of fun stuff to look at.

Very interesting vintage buildings. Not well kept. Most likely due to poor funding. Parking is very limited and structures appear to be deteriorating at a rapid pace. If you like old buildings and learning local pasts, you should visit sooner rather than later.

We have two sets of young grand-kids from the Austin Texas area. We were surprised at how interested they were with all the old artifacts and buildings. They wanted to know what everything was and what it was used for. They were fascinated with Buffalo Gap Historic Village and want to see it again.
