Great local history! I've been to this museum at least 3 times in the past 3 years. They have recently updated the inside of the museum and the cohesiveness of the items inside are much more noticeable. My children as well as adult family enjoyed visiting this piece of local history. The curators are usually on site and very knowledgeable about the items on display. Wonderful place to visit for more information on an important part of our WW2 history. Was a little boring for my youngest child (2 at the time) but there is so much here for everyone else it is worth the visit. I'll go back again for sure!!

What a hidden (and free) gem! I brought a friend with a disability here to look at the planes. The staff was so sweet to us, and they even gave my friend "wings" as we left! So much great information and a very cool piece of history that I had never heard of. How interesting that the Brits ended up in Texas, by way of Canada! Please visit if you can and make sure to sign in!!!!

If you are interested in WW II history, military history, or just north central Texas history, you want to check this place out. In WW II when the Germans were invading European countries, Britain did not have a place to train pilots. So, Roosevelt quietly let Churchill send their pilots to the US to train as the US originally wanted to appear "neutral." The Terrell Airport was one of the few places they trained and its the only location that has preserved its heritage. Very nice little museum. A former mayor of Terrell was one of those British pilots who returned to Terrell after the war and married a local girl.

A well kept secret, but it shouldn't be. While not an extravagant museum, it sure does have some wonderful WWII memorabilia. If you want to spend some time enjoying a great little hidden gem with a lot to offer, put this on your list!

Awesome museum, a must see!

Describe my experience it says. Very humbling. Very informative. Ask about the 20 young men who lost their lives while training here, then go visit the 20. They are located at the Oakland Cemetery in Terrell, through the main gate and 100 yrds down on the right. Can't miss them. They'll know you are there to visit them, you'll know they are there to visit with you.

This museum commemorates the forgotten, clandestine training of British pilots before and during American involvement in World War II. As part of the allied "Lend-Lease" agreement, Terrell, Texas played a key role in helping to defeat the Germans by training British, Canadian and eventually American boys to fly. It was the first and the largest of six BFTS training bases in the United States. Well organized, clean and comprehensive exhibits, friendly and knowledgeable staff, this newly remodeled museum is a joy to visit and fun way to learn.

Jennifer Hay

It has the history of the British flying school

Anntoinette Baker

Thank you for a very enjoyable visit. It was very heart warming to see how warmly our boys were welcomed. Without this school, the brave volunteers of the RAF Eagle Squadron and the USA eventually joining us in the war England might have been speaking German today.
