Took my gamer wife there on a date. Had a blast. She was gushing over all the games and consoles she's played growing up. I sat in a recreation of a 80's living room playing burger time on an intellivision. Brought back great memories of playing games with my dad when I was very young. Well be back with the kids soon.

This was a really cool experience. If you are interested in gaming or even technology, you have to come experience it at least once. It had some games you could play on the old systems as well as an arcade they give you tokens for to play on. I think that it was really neat to show my kids how far gaming and tech has come. Very cool!

This place was lots of fun for me and my family. I got to show my kids some of the games I used to play. This place has a rich history from the start of the video game industry to the newer consoles today. They even have a retro arcade with 40 classic arcade games from the 80s and 90s that you can play with the tokens they provide during admission.

This place is interesting. The front desk wasn't very informative. I don't know if they offer guided tours since the staff just wanted to get you through the line. It seems 100% self guided. I just wish there was more to this museum. As it stands, it just seems like it lacks any direction. Cool stuff for gaming nerds, but I expected more.

We came took Frisco with only one purpose and was visit this place with my son and was a great experience. We had a blast. My son loved Mario and the Arcade experience. You get a good deal because is not that pricey and you can spend a lot of time. I’ll come back on my next trip to Dallas for sure

Great experience for the price. Got to see and use a lot of classic systems which was fun and the people there are really fun to talk to as everyone else is kinda nerdy the arcade section at the end is a real treat as they have all the best arcade games. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the actual panel information could have been displayed a but better. I was genuinely interested in reading it but when it's located right next to the hot topic game system of the area, it's impossible to read it.

Wonderful experience. Huge collection of all the video games and consoles from Pong to Fortnite. Spent 3 hours traveling memory lane. Grandkids enjoyed immensely. We will be back.

If you want to walk through the history of video games, this is a place to see. There are multiple displays of consoles, equipment, and accessories from over all the years. There are even places to play various verisons to experience what it was like to interact with a keyboard for text based adventure. You get some tokens to play traditional arcade cabinets.

Awesome place to come and visit if you love video games. I highly recommend coming for a visit to get some hands on experience with some old systems. I learned a lot of stuff that I never knew about the industry. I can't wait to go back!

Really cool museum for any gamer! We killed about an hour here and could have been longer. Self guided tour of the history of game consoles, games, computer game systems, pop culture and a vintage arcade (they keep track of daily high scores for free tokens too!). Worth the stop!

Who would have though such a place existed?!?!? A history of video games from beginning to end. Some of the legendary rare consoles that I've only seen in magazines were in glass cases. Never thought I'd actually see developers gaming consoles in person. The 90s kids bedroom examples really reminded me of my childhood and there was a fun connection while looking at everything. I guess the only gripe is the fun arcade in the end. Maybe a mechanic should take a look at the cabinets. Some of the joysticks were beat to hell like the 90s. So the games were not very playable due to faulty controls. Not sure if that was intentional to fit the age theme or if they were actually worn down and no one looked at them.

I am not even a gamer and I really enjoyed this experience. Museum is laid out in order of the history of gaming starting with pong and preceding all the way through virtual reality and beyond. A really nice experience for gamers and non-gamers alike

This place is kind of meh but the price isn't that bad. You pay 12 bucks to walk around and try out some games and see some history. I feel like the whole place could have really been something but with the placement of everything you sort of blow through it in like 15-20 minutes. Other than the mini retro arcade and the gift shop, that's about it.

Perfect place for anyone who has a passion for video games. Also, you get to play a lot of the different type of video games and many of the exhibits are interactive and hands on. They give you tokens as well so that when you're done in the museum you can play in the arcade. This place was so much better than I expected and was truly a great time. I highly recommend it.

Fun place to visit. Love the period rooms especially, and lots of cool stuff to look at. Only complaint is that it could really use a more creative and exciting design/arrangement. For example, Computerspielemuseum Berlin, the German video game museum, manages to use its space and items in a much more artistic manner, and it becomes a more satisfying experience as a consequence. That's not to say this facility is badly arranged--it just is sort of "here's this stuff, next is this other stuff", when great museum design can do so much to enhance the experience. I will still visit occasionally--because they do have great items--but I am always hoping the next visit will see a redesign that truly achieves this place's potential.

Dude! This place was fantastic. they have games from every game system and every video game. The most common thing heard was, "I had that system". It was an absolute hit with all of our kids. 1980's era arcade at 1token per play. Just amazing!

Visited with my husband and our son, had a wonderful afternoon playing games and talking about the progression of gaming. Disappointed not to find 1) Tetris games I could play and 2) the green handheld Matel football game. Still had a great time and would definitely reccomend a visit!

Fun place with historical facts about the birth of gaming. Some displays are sure to bring on feelings of nostalgia if you are a child of the 80s. Plan to spend an hour to 2 hours at this location. I am not a huge gamer. (I do have family members who are) I still found the NVM very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend coming here again.

Amazing. So much more than I expected. If you grew up with consoles and think you know them all, I'm betting you will be surprised! I felt a mixture of excitement learning about all these game systems I missed out on, combined with deep sadness and life altering revelations because wasnt I the console queen? The retro video game enthusiast? The lover of all things space invaders and pong and everything in between (theres more than you think!) and beyond? Anyway. I had many feels. Lots of games retro (and not-so) that you can play for free, the 80s room set ups are amazing and I high key want to take up residency, and the arcade is... well, a very pleasing blast from the past. They have GORF you guys (only ever played that game at a La Quinta once every summer in Galveston; I was shook). I will be going back. Wish I lived closer!

My husband and I had a blast! We spent 3 full hours browsing, gaming, learning, and thoroughly enjoying everything NVM has to offer. Admission was very reasonable and includes 4 arcade tokens per ticket to their 1980s themed arcade (with classic games such as Galaga, Ms. PacMan, Mortal Kombat, and many more.) I recommend taking the time to read the background and trivia — you will learn so much!

Very cool place to nerd out on video games you grew up with. This museum brought back so many memories. It was very interactive and offered consoles to play on when you were a kid. The museum does a great job explaining a brief history on the piece while you give it a go on a game. The whole place was very inviting and would highly recommend bringing your family here. There's a little something for everyone here. The 80's arcade was also cool and I could have stayed there forever. Every corner you turn, there is a something to learn about but also to try out and actually play! The museum did a great job with all of the consoles featuring a game that was popular at that time. Would definitely come back again! We got here right when it opened and was a great way to scan/play everything right before the crowds picked up. They also offered free guided tours which walked you through the history and evolution of video games.

Unless you're a hard core videogame enthusiast, you will probably not enjoy. Took to kids with me, 10 and 5. 5 year old didn't like it, 10 year old couldn't play most of the games, since the games don't have much in the way of instructions as to how to play them. So unless you know how to play old video games, you get bored easily.

Took my Nate out for a day on his 12th birthday. The minute you walk in there is a collection of past consoles and their graphics on display monitors to remind you of what was once the latest and greatest. The entrance fee is reasonable and for each ticket pirchased, you are given free tokens to play in their retro arcade (additional tokens also available for purchase). For an electronics museum and not very many of its kind, there is plenty to see and actually play with unlike most others where you are not allowed to touch anything! Perfect for curious and excited minds, young and old alike! The minutes fly by and the memories rush back! They have an actual working wooden cabinet console television hooked up to play on!!! Take plenty of pictures and video while you are there, it is most definitely allowed and encouraged. I believe they can reserve and host bday parties there as well, but please call and confirm first. We will be back!!

great throwback to everything digital. it's a fun place but I would enjoy it more if $12 could cover more than 4 coins at the arcade section. it cost $25 for two adults. that's just insane to me. wayyy over priced. a place called free play has this for $6 for all access, all day play. if they can do it for half the price, so can this museum. the guy at the counter was rude as well.

After several empty threats to visit, I loaded up the wife and kids and made the trip over. Man what a trip. As soon as we walked in the door I was transported back to my childhood via our first video game console. While my 10 year old played in an online poker tournament on mom's phone with people all over the world, I regaled the family with my prowess playing pong on our first color tv. This was a good hour or hour and a half spent with my kids and there really was a little something for all of us. Admission might be a little pricy, but bring extra cash for the arcade...

This place was a great little trip down memory lane. Any kid who grew up in the 80’s will get a kick out of all the nostalgia. Seeing all the games and tech I used to play with as a kid brought back so many memories. The dioramas are thoughtfully curated and interactive. There’s even an old school video arcade where you can play games for just a token.

Super cool place to get out of the heat!!! Everyone should go! Generations back to the 60s of video game history. It was amazing to even see the computer or consul that was used to play that game during that period of time! Crazy how they were able to create such an experience with history!

Great place to visit from the giant pong game to the back corner arcade. Fun for many ages and they even offer birthday party services. I like that they change out some of the hands on games to play. There is quite a bit to explore if you visit each section and read up on the history.

It's a super cool place that really isn't expensive. Video games are relatively new, so it is not a huge place but it is growing. Their set up is really cool, has the largest game of pong, virtual reality, an arcade at the end. They give you tokens at the beginning, but you can buy more. I love seeing all the old games and buying stuffed animals from the gift shop. Super fun place all around and first of it's kind

The NVM was everything I wanted it to be. I heard about it a few months ago, and knew immediately that it was going on my bucket list. The staff at the window were friendly and helpful. (When we explained that we wanted to keep a token as a keepsake, they even slid us an extra) The exhibits were all well lit, clean, and informative. I had a blast, and my dad enjoyed seeing some things from his childhood. I would recommend the NVM to ANYONE interested in Videogames, technology, or modern history. P.S. Your entrance fee covers you for all day so as long as you leave your bracelet on, you can come back the same day. We had to do this because we ended up spending more time here than we expected. This is every videogamers dream spot. You can play all the old games from the 80s and 90s and they have an old arcade set up too! My kids and husband thought this was one of the coolest places EVER! It is $12/adult and $10/kid but you can easily spend 3-4 hours there....and then come back later. I recommend getting there right when it opens because there is no waiting in line at that time.

Really fun place we do the family annual membership and I feel it's really worth it. We have a eight year old who loves video games and she also had a great time. Lots of stuff to check out old consoles and controllers. Lots of info about the industry. Arcade was great but a few cabinets had busted buttons. We just told them and they gave us more tokens. Friendly staff clean. Will probably have her birthday there since she had so much fun.

Fun and inexpensive fun for the whole family, especially the gamers. Unlike a regular museum, you can actually touch and play with the displays! I felt like a kid again seeing all of the games that I loved playing when i was growing up and had so much fun sharing them with my kids. They finally understand why call of duty is wayyyy out of my league! The Oregon Trail was by far their favorite. We had a blast in the arcade where every game only cost one token!

The National Video Game Museum was very interesting to say the least. I think if you have even a small amount of interest in video games and their history it is worth checking the place out for a couple hours. Large groups did seem to be a nightmare for the staff. I think if I go again it will be with a smaller groups of people.

So cool! If you like video games at all, check this place out! The exhibits detail the full history of video games, from the giant pong machine to VR and current tech. You get to play a lot of retro games along the way and there's just a lot of cool stuff to see. You can make it through the museum in a couple of hours and it's good for all ages.

This place gives a great a nostalgic and interestingly informative journey into the gaming history - all the way from the early machines to the latest online and VR gaming. John, one of the 3 founders, gave an engaging tour. Best of it all, there is an old time arcade game center, where you can still play the classics, so plan some time for that.

Enjoyed the afternoon with the grandboys playing the “old” games. Some of the equipment was not working but I can imagine it is a challenge to keep all this old technology up and running. Because of the price it was probably a one time visit but it was enjoyable, one time. It is a drive but the boys seem to enjoy the games more at a video arcade that features the old games in Addison.

There's absolutely nothing like the National Videogame Museum. Ever have the desire to play a Virtual Boy or find out what really happened during the Video Game Crash? This is the place to be. There's history for all sorts of video game companies, ranging from ancient Atari to modern corporate giant Microsoft. If the history isn't enough for you, there's always the arcade. Imagine playing Street Fighter 2 or Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on original hardware! Whether you're a retro gamer or your first couple was a PlayStation 4, this place has everything for you.

Fantastic place. I was in video game heaven. Very well done. I didn't expect such a great display of games and history. Game consoles were out to play and descriptions of all the consoles were available to read. To top off the amazing trip down video game history, there is an arcade room with classics video games. 80s music played in there to make you feel like you're actually in the 1980s. What a trip. I also love the way they set up a late 1970s/early 1980s living room with a video game console on the coffee table. There's also a replica of a 1985 teens bedroom with a super Nintendo connected to a TV along with a bed with Pac man bedsheets. I also love the 80s movie posters on the wall to add to it. Great place, highly recommended. I will have to go back to finish the museum since I was only there for an hour and a half.

If what you want is to cap off a tour of the evolution of videogame technology through the years with a stop at an authentic '80s arcade, this is the place. Lots of hands-on fun to be had here, and the recreation of a kid's room and a TV room from the '80s was almost too perfect. Lots of nostalgia for Gen X parents, and fun for kids too.

A surprising little gem. I'm a nanny and took the 2, 4 and 6 year old I watch. The older two enjoyed it and I enjoyed it so much I plan to go back with my husband. A small little place, but inexpensive and a good time waster for a couple hours. I got to play some games I remembered from my childhood and some other cool systems. They have interesting little room displays and some other cool items. Everything is interactive and they have a small arcade with arcade games. You get a few tokens with admission and can buy more inside if you want. We found the games inside were enough.

Staff for Grandson's 12th Birthday Party was very helpful and courteous. We felt the Museum was fun for everyone. Our child even beat her birthday son at these games. Just like riding a bike. Highly recommend this blast from the past.

The place was smaller than expected, but having paid $12 to go in my friends and I had to make the most of it. It's not what one typically thinks of with a museum, but it can still be very informative and fun. Highlights were the game console database, the giant Pong set up (it was always busy and we couldn't use it though), the typing video game, and definitely the arcade. The place could use some more eyecatching decorations and interactive exhibits. I had fun and don't regret going, but I personally wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.

It was an amazing experience! This is a place where old and new gamers can come together and play/learn about video game history. It has the world's LARGEST playable Pong Console! It also has a 80's Like Arcade with all the original arcade cabinets! All in all, a great place to go.

More of a walk in the past and fun to be nostalgic for older people, but wasn't really fun or interesting for my (younger) kids. I wish they had more reading material about the video games. A lot of it was short and not too interesting. It was fun to play on some old systems they had out, but was overall small and not that interesting for a "museum". Perot is much better even if it is a longer drive. I was also not happy about the arcade area that required you to pay to play. The whole point is about video games so seeing the old machines was cool, but having to pay for them seemed dumb given the context. I guess they have to keep losers and bums out who would pay the entrance fee and then stay there forever playing, but I feel like there are other ways you could accomplish that goal while keeping it a little more "fun" for the museum goers. My kids were not impressed. The typing game was fun though - at least for me who is able to play it. Gotta be a pretty good typist for that one. Please "like" my review if you found it helpful.

If you are a video gamer, then my hat off to you. This place has everything, game and component that ever existed. It cost about $$ per adult and a little less for seniors 50 and over. Many of the game are playable. You could have a ball for free. One room has an arcade of games that are playable but you must purchase tokens to play the games. One area was set up like a family room, a boys room & a girls room, set in the 80's on how gaming systems would look like during that time and what was availble. It was all right, we took our grandson. He is the gamer of today. So a history lesson was also on the agenda. If he's going to ask for the games and systems, he must know the history. That gaming isn't a new thing. AND IT'S ALSO FUN FOR THE VIDEO GAMERS OF OLD.

Very fun museum, brings back all your childhood memories. So many different examples of different gaming systems throughout the years and many that you can play, plus you get tokens to play vintage arcade games. Definitely worth the visit to show your children what gaming used to be like

This place is really awesome! I went on my own on a Tuesday around noon and it was perfect. Just a few people there so was able to enjoy everything at my pace. Spent a few hours and was lots to see and do. Brought back tons of memories. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

Pretty cool place overall. They definitely need to do some upkeep on the games tho. I realize with all the kids playing with the controllers it may be hard to keep them in perfect order but 30% of them didn't work at all. There is also a train museum as well as a science/ technology museum in the same building. Unfortunately didn't have time to visit them. $12 is a little pricey for what they offer as you can run though all the exhibits in 15 minutes but if you are a true gamer and chill out and play a few games it's worth it for sure.
