You will see all the feddbacks of real people who are purchasing the products of National Museum of the Pacific War (Museum) in the area close to the state of Texas.
As of day the business has a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 and that score has been calculated on 1003 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is almost the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the rating is very reliable. If people have bothered to give their review when they are satisfied, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum corresponds to the category of History museum.
This is a place that everyone should see when you are in Fredericksburg! ! It takes a day or so to see it all but it is amazing and loaded with history. "Those that don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it." We love learning about our nation and the past and give THANKS to those who served /serve and those who paid with their lives so we all may live in freedom :( Yes, we are from military families, but anyone will find this place interesting and come out hopefully a bit more respectful and a bit sad after reading about the senseless loss of lives. Go, you will like it!
The museum was very interesting. The town is quite the surprise. Shops. Restaurants. Events. All within walking distance. Nice folks. GREAT food. Prices not bad. If you have the opportunity to swing by...or even spend a night...I highly recommend Fredericksburg and ALL it has to offer.
You really need to spend a couple days if you want to see the whole thing. There is an abundance of information and I was amazed at how much I don't know about the Pacific theater of WWII. There are short films, lots of photos, and an immense amount of gear that had actually seen combat. There are planes, submarines, and more. A great place to enjoy learning. I still need to go back because I am sure I missed a lot of information, not to mention stuff that I don't remember from information overload. It is hard to move quickly as the information is so captivating and written in a way it's hard to tear yourself away.
This is a must see. Allow the entire day and then some. would give 10 stars.
High quality museum worth every penny. I spent nearly 6 hours here. Fascinating history and very well-presented. My only complaint was that some of the descriptions had dim lighting, making it a bit harder to read ... but otherwise I can't recommend it enough.
This is our second visit and this time we're really reading and listening to everything. 2 days and we're about 2/3rds through. Plan on spending serious time here to really see the place. There is so much to see and hear.
Quite a drive but well worth it. Level of detail is excellent.
This museum is reason enough to visit Fredericksburg. The sign of a great museum isn't the wealth of exhibits, the number of people scrambling to get in, or the fame it holds. A great museum captivates your attention no matter the topic. This museum does that perfectly. Even if walk in here knowing nothing about about WWII, you will walk out wishing you knew more. It's a wonderful museum and I am excited to go back.
Good place to stop and look at all the different air planes they have. We had a good time.
A premium and amazing display of the Pacific front of WWII. This is one of the most comprehensive and full featured museums I've been to. In the town of Fredericksburg where Admiral Nimitz was born, it is a fitting place to salute the Admiral's accomplishments.
Absolutely awesome adventure covering very comprehensively WW2 in the Pacific. Plan on 2 days for full involvement.
Amazing place to stop and view American History
Very informative - I wish all rooms were opened, but it was during renovation. I do not recall if there was a discount because of that. Great anyway. Reportedly in Japan the story is slightly different. I will see for myself if there will be discounted flight to Okinawa on my trip to Japan.
This museum is simply incredible! I haven’t been able to stop talking about it. So much history, fantastic displays, beautiful setting. Very grateful to have this for our future generations.
great museum you could spend a whole day there and probably not see everything lots of interactive things I must stop if you're anywhere near Fredericksburg Texas
Complex, entertaining, enlightening and intense. Extremely well done
This place has so much to offer, more time is needed than just a day. Admission is good for 48 hrs. Incredible exhibits, and memorials.
Great place to learn history about ww2.
I really enjoyed the time I spent there. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. A great time and outstanding display. If you are interested in that era go and take your time looking and learning.
This is the best museum I've ever been too! My son loved it!
Probably one of the finest war museums. So much to see and done in such a way that the timeline is easy to see and the tragedy of war is so evident
Nice to see on the way
Shockingly well done museum. I’ve been to many bigger military museums in larger towns... and few hold a candle to this one. I wish the part of the museum that covered Nimitz and the hotel was more extensive, but I’d visit again in a second!
Enjoyed it very much, clearly structured, informative,... Just didn't have enough time to explore in depth. The$15 adult admission ticket is valid for 2 days. But we had to leave around 1pm due to our long drive back!
Awesome but better plan for a 3 day event.
It's quite a place. Make sure you have a lot of time to spend. It's full of so much detail.
A must see in Fredricksburg. Price is reasonable and the displays are what you would expect in a quality museum. I didn't have enough time to see all the displays, so I plan to return.
Great place, very educational! Decent price, took my step dad(history buff, Korean war vet) he liked it
Great place to explore history
Amazing history, fantastic displays, it is no understatement it can take 4 hours to see everything. Tickets good for 48 hours...you may need the 2 days. Done in good taste with unknown factoids for a deeper understanding of the history. Patriotism is reignited when seeing the greatest generations history.
beautiful excellent place
A well-kept museum, the staff are all passionate about history and actually told us additional facts about the artifacts and stories. Definitely worth a visit
Wonderful museum. Had a great time learning in depth, about our involvement on the Pacific front if World War II. They have three museum sites and the main museum will take anywhere from 2-3 hours if you see the entire museum. Very detailed information, they have a lot of cases to look at, and even audio clips of people telling their stories. Had a great time here and would come again
Wonderful! WWII museum at the home of Gen Nimitz in TX. 4 hour tour. Must do.
A lot to see but be ready to stand and walk, there is a lot to see !
Great museum. A must stop while in Fredericksburg. You will learn a lot and also have a feeling of the great sacrifices our service men during that period in world history.
Great museum of WW11 . Took our friends 93yrs old Veteran , served in Navy 21 years, wife 94 yrs old helped out war effort in factories.. They had a wonderful time, museum treated them like royalty, Museum in Fredricksburg, love this area and everything that is offered.
So much more than I thought. Go prepared to spend 8 hours
Very nice. I learned a lot in here. Will visit again. Staff is very pleasant.
Shows true meaning of our countries assets. Our Military
Stunning display chronologically placed even further before of America got involved in the WWII. Take your time to come over to this museum to enjoy it greatly. Lots of life lost, lots of resources made and used for the dominance of the Pacific.
An amazing museum. We were there for 4 hours and we needed more time because of the richness in content and exhibitions. They have a complimentary audio guide that gives a deeper understanding of the panels, artifacts and displays. The ticket is valid for 48 hours because the staff knows that the museum (3 buildings and over 50+ sections) needs some time to be explored completely. The staff is very friendly and will be glad to answer your questions regarding the museum, the history, or the different exhibitions they have. Definitely plan a complete day for this if you like history.
Very well set up, I learned a lot.
As an artist, I did a series on the Jewish tragedies and the struggle of the young soldiers during WWll. I hadn't studied the Pacific war as much. I was speechless and emotional to understand the level of respect some of our men had for the enemy. I know the war crimes of the Japanese, but this museum humanized them.
Excellent museum. Can't wait to visit during one of the living history demonstrations.
A lot of fun bring your kids
Great experience! Exceeds the Smithsonian.
The day was well spent here. Well done displays and very educational. Affordable family day trip.
A gem of a museum right here in Fredericksburg, Texas! So much history with real artifacts presented in a clear and fun, interactive environment. The USS Nimitz model ship is amazing, along with all the video and items to look at. Very detailed and family friendly. Staff is friendly and you can tell they care about this place. Don’t miss the outdoor memorials and the beautiful Zen Japanese garden right outside!
Museum was absolutely fantastic. The amount of detailed information, the displays and videos were beyond top rate. Was there only 3 hours and I've got to go back to see more. As a student of WWII history I have seen many of the photos before, but not altogether in one place, displayed with such professional quality.
Great layout of a horrible war. Bring your children to learn about this great tragedy.
This museum is a true shrine to the men and women in uniform that gave their lives in battle. A superb job on the displays, with realistic audio sequences in each of the rooms. It takes about 4 hours to walk thru the entire museum, as you will want to really take note in it's entirety. Worth the time!!
This is the most comprehensive museum on any topic I've ever been to. I could have spent 10 hours there and felt rushed doing it in 3. Bought a membership on my first trip.
Very well presented, even including setting the stage with some history of the 100 years preceding WW2 which prepared the way for the Pacific war.
A must visit if you are interested in Pacific war.
Very cool place if you're a history buff or even if you're just interested in learning a little bit of the past. You can free roam without needing to be in a group which makes it great
Plan on at a minimum 2 hrs and up to 4 based on your interest. Nice displays. Well done
Great displays in a beautiful building. Tells the story of the war and the reasons behind it in a creative and informative way. Modern use of a constantly turning layout keeps you focused on the display in front of you. Make sure to have time when you go as the museum is quiet large and you will need several hours to see it all. Don't worry you will still have time for seeing other sites in town. Also there are two other museums, Nimitz's house and a third location that houses a PT Boat and other diplays.
You cannot finish going through the whole museum in one day. Lots of great information to read about. Recommend going for two days. I'm a huge history buff so I quite enjoyed it.
This is just a super, super place! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If anyone reading this review has a chance to visit...GO! Do it!! Visit this place! Plan at least an entire day, though. If you are a WW2 historian, you will want to take at least two days to visit.
Really different and very informative. Be prepared for a lot of standing and walking because there's a lot to see and hear. They've done a lot more work on it. We originally went to take my dad who was a WWII veteran and he was really impressed although some of the memories were hard. We try to go every time because you can't take it all in on one visit(unless maybe you stayed all day.
Hidden jewel. Doesn't look like much from outside, but oh my God, does it have a lot to offer. Visit; you will not be disappointed, I promise
This was a great experience. Knowledgable staff and a great way of showing history from different angles. I highly recommend this place.
Loved this museum! It's a must see! If you are a history or World War II buff, don't miss this gem!
This museum is EXTREMELY detailed. What I realized at the beginning is that the movie in the entrance basically introduces you to what is in store for you. It shows you a little of what was going on within a few years and conflicts going on at the same time. As you enter, you really artifacts and read what started the Pacific War. This dates back to many years prior where they explain conflicts between China and Japan and opium trade and force of trade. There’s English and German conflicts and it goes on and on. The museum is a bit of a maze and you can quickly become confused on where to go next because while there are signs above explaining different conflicts, the only way you’ll know which way to go is looking at the dates of the displays. Even then, you can be confused because while you’ll be reading about one issue, it may backtrack and explain another issue going on in another country. So there’s a lot of back and forth and the timeline gets confusing. My husband is basically a historian and he knows all about WWII and nearly every war and conflict that has gone on and even he was getting really confused with all the details they added. At one point I needed to go to the restroom and found my way out. I went back into the door I went out but got confused where I left off and began circling around and around. No arrows on the ground to keep you going in the right direction. You’re basically just trying to place all the years and conflicts in your head. Was it worth the ticket price though? Yes. You’ll find yourself in there for quite some time and could easily be in there over an hour. There’s at least 3 planes, a bomb, lots of artifacts, a boat, and various other items. Continue on to the next museum where you enter a hangar and see another plane used in the war. That was really neat too. Children will find themselves bored unless you have an older kid who is obsessed with military museums. One problem though, Marines are not capitalized in this museum which is the strangest thing. My husband can’t be the only Marine who noticed this and was very disappointed that over and over again, Marines wasn’t capitalized as if someone with no military experience wrote out everything. It was insulting to him and if you know a Marine, they are proud.
Enjoyed it very much!!
A horrible story that is beautifully told
Very well done. Powerful exhibits
Museum is laid out nicely and staff were very helpful.
Wonderful displays and artifacts. Great history of the war in the Pacific. Also enjoyed the museum store.
Love all the history here.
A jewel of a museum. Lots of interesting stories and artifacts to go with them.
Amazing place that really helps you understand the war in the pacific. PLan on spending the better part of the day if you want to really have a complete visit. There are so many authentic artifacts and historical items.
Excellent place for any age, history for adults and cool army stuff for the kids. You'll always find something new so make sure to go multiple times. Lots of unique exhibits and one of a kind items. There is also a live reenactment at the pacific combat zone that is great to see
Wonderfully thought out
A fascinating and moving experience to behold. The story of the world's triumphs and troubles, victories and defeats of all involved. How America was forced into war on two fronts, with the help of its allies, and great leadership overcame huge odds to defeat the Japanese after Pearl Harbor and Nazi Germany to the east. The lives lost and sacrifices made were unimaginable. The Museum of the Pacific conflict tells a great story of America's past and how it transformed the world today.
One of the best museums I've ever been to!
Don't ever forget our great history and the sacrifices made for our freedom.
Pretty fun place to learn. Got me intrested.
This is an extraordinary capture of the essence of the war in the Pacific during WWII. I think I could actually spend several days here. I did not go as deep into the details as I'd have liked, based solely on the time I allotted. I'd add several more hours. This is a treasure!
Very interesting and informative museum, way more than what I expected. You could easily spend all day here.
Museum is big and informative. Ticket is valid for 2 days so you don't have to finish everything at one go. They also have an outdoor area apart from the main area.
Amazing place, full of history. You can see inside airplanes, there's even a bomber, tanks, boats, a submarine, small arms, artillery. Everything chronologically arranged as you walk into the different chambers. Price is really fair if you consider the quality of the museum you are visiting.
This place is amazing. Loved all about Admiral Nimitz and about the fight in Pacific. Hit home as my grandfather on my mom's side was a wounded Navy Seaman who was hurt on board the U.S.S. Enterprise. Big E 65.
Enjoyed wish I would of had more time to read about everything
Is an outstanding tribute to all who served in the Pacific theater during world war II. Very well organized and laid out for casual stroll through the entire Pacific war history. The museum's exterior area is also well worth the visit.
I actually liked this museum better than the Smithsonian. It was much less crowded and had some great exhibits.
A LOT of history and 48 hours to take it all in. Self guided with some places to seat along the way.
It is a full day magnificent experience for EVERY AMERICAN showing knowledge of red white and blue and determination of American beliefs and spirit!!
This place is amazing! There is so much to see!
Awesome WW2 Museum, focused on the Pacific War with Japan.
When we took a Fredericksburg tour, the guide told us you could ‘spend five or six hours’ at this museum. I thought that sounded a little exaggerated....until we went there. Entire complex is very large and impressive. Exhibits are super informative and wide ranging. If you are a history buff this place will make you feel right at home. The museum is actually three separate structures. Unfortunately one was closed for renovations when we went, but the other two had plenty to offer. Well worth a trip if you have any interest in the subject or just history in general.
It was part of our tour but would have been nice to have a choice shopping in Fredericksburg or going to the museum since they are so close.
Great museum, overwhelming amount of information. Strangely, in the printed information covering the walls of the museum, "Marine" is not capitalized. Square that trash away!
Fredericksburg is an extremely touristy venue, with all of the requisite shops, boutiques and restaurants who only seem to be there for the money from the tourists. This museum stands out as a detailed presentation of all the history for the WWII Pacific theater. The museum curators and docents have done a very good job providing background and details which most of us never learned in school. It is well worth the price of admission, and we easily spent several hours touring the exhibits. I highly recommend the museum for history buffs and anyone interested in the whys behind the war.
Walked our legs off today and more to see tomorrow! Great exhibits.
The guys doing the reenactments are so dedicated. I learned so much watching them and following the tour. On the other side there are actual artifacts, emotional letters home from soldiers, and educational exhibits. Truly a must see if you're in town.
Awesome, very informative. I went through in about 1 1/2 hours, wish I would have had another hour.
One of the best museums. Plan to spend some time to experience the history! This is the most intense and well planned museums. Lots of real tanks planes and even a submarine. Don't miss this!
Excellent displays. I enjoyed the videos.
This is a must go to if your visiting Fredericksburg Tx.
Loved this place. Great museum to visit. Takes about 4 to 6 hours to walk though with tons of information.I seen many veterans leave here with tears in their eyes. I am an Army vet and love military history. General Nimitz is the focus of this museum and the town of Fredricksburg has alot to offer. This should be a weekend visit.I am planning a return trip for the reenactment.
Very interesting place, be prepared to take your time. It will make you understand why this group of people are defined as the Greatest Generation.
You will need two days to properly view the facility. The best military museum I have ever been to, by far. Simply incredible and well done. If you study the theater of the Pacific War, this is a half-to. Spoiler: they have a hatch piece from the USS Arizona on display, as well as a shot-up Stuart tank, a Wildcat and a IJN floatplane.
One of the best museum experiences I've ever had. You'll need at least two days to experience the entire museum and two or three more days to explore Fredericksburg. Great people, great museum and great food.
Exceptional experience!! John at the front is amazing, museum very well laid out
Great place to learn about the war in the pacific!
Great museum with lots of memorabilia. Very informative and excellent artifacts
Excellent museum with very detailed information. We spent around 4 hours in the main museum and I did not get around to see everything. I give it 3 stars rather than 4 or 5, because I think there is a real danger of idealizing war. I have never been in a war myself, but have heard stories from those who were in real wars. War is not fun! It is something horrible to be avoided. It struck me at the end of the exhibit Nimitz is shown addressing Congress. He mentioned that he prayed war would not catch the US unprepared. I would have prayed for the US not to have to go into war any more!! On the other hand, history is always biased. It looks to me that the US did some not very pretty things in the war. Like bombing civilians in Tokyo with a death toll of 100,000 people in one night. The exhibit mentions that operation as a success. I forgot the exact words but it was something along those lines. Did we really need to bomb Tokyo and kill 100,000 people in one night destroying a large fraction of the city? And I don't want to go too much into the dropping of two atomic bombs. I know people give "good" reasons for it. But I wonder if other alternatives were on the table. People making the decision of dropping them were the same people who did not seem to have a problem killing 100,000 people in one night in Tokyo. At least I would have dropped the atomic bombs on clear military targets rather than cities classified as "military targets" with hundreds of thousands of civilians. In short: very good exhibit, but my concern is that it gives an overly idealized, and romantic view of a terrible chapter in human history.
Great place.... lot of history.
A must see while in Fredericksburg and the memorial garden was amazingly peaceful!
This museum was very nicely done and very helpful staff! My husband loved it
Amazing place. Incredible history. Reminds you of how much our brave men gave to keep us free. You need a full day to experience it.
Awesome! Go.. See.. Experience. It's amazing!
This place is amazing! If you are planning on going here, I highly recommend it. Even if you are not planning on visiting and are traveling through the area, try and make time to visit it, it is an amazing experience for history nerds and regular folks.
Spectacular WWII museum. Couldn't believe how big it was. If you love history or the Pearl Harbor tragedy this is your place.
This is a great museum. Our 5 year old absolutely loved it and we all learned a lot about the Pacific War.
Really wonderful museum!
The only reason that I am not giving 5 stars is because the Nimitz building is being restored. It is a great museum in a great town.
Vary nice experience. It was great to take a walk through history and relive some of what happened in that era.
Very well done museum. Every one should visit this when in the area. Lots of good history here.
Excellent museum. Be prepared to spend 2-4 hours. Alot to see. Staff very helpful.
It's a great museum, loved it. They have set it up so well, so much too see.
This place is a gem! Best find of the year!
This museum tells an excellent overview story of Pacific war with Japan through narrative, photos and some displays. This is must see. There is also a small annex museum 2 blocks down the street.
Could have spent more time here, enjoyed the visit.
History. Get absorbed. Very well done. A must for anyone interested in this period of time or history in general.
If your into the history of the Pacific war this is the place to go. Clean and we'll managed. A must see.
Great facility. Their PT boat exhibition is fantastic. Its moving to see the actual atomic bomb that was built, but not used over Japan. Well worth taking the time to go through it slowly.
Such a fantastic display. It's a little easy to get lost inside but very interesting and educational displays
One of the very best museums on WWII I have ever seen. Planes, tanks, torpedoes, submarines everything is so well preserved and lovingly displayed. The Japanese garden and memorial area are beautiful. What a fitting tribute to our lost heroes! The curators did not miss a single detail. I highly recommend!
Many displays and artifacts. Very enjoyable. You need at least 4 hours to get it all in. Would highly recommend.
you're in Fredericksburg Texas you should go see this place. Make sure you go with lots of time yes. You can spend an entire day going to this Museum and reading the notes on the artifacts. Planes that actually took place in battles of World War II and a mini sub from the battle at Pearl Harbor
Make sure you take all day to plan on visiting. Very well done museum. Lots of good history and exhibits.
Truly Amazing facility that tells the story of the Pacific War and the brave men and women that fought it. A must see if you get to Fredericksburg
I absolutely loved this place! My husband and I were not 100% prepared for all the exhibits we were going to look at. We thought we were going to be there a few hours, and before we knew it we had been there 4! It completely engaged us and had amazing stories on many platforms from artifacts to videos. I can't say enough about this place! Definitely worth it to check it out!
This place is fantastic. Plan for two days if you have the time, otherwise be sure to spend a full day. History details are very professionally done and are very educational and informative. In the summer months they do a live reenactment at the Pacific Combat Zone. Believe they have two shows each on a selected Saturday and Sunday. Everything at this museum is first class.
Awesome place. A definite must see.
This place is packed with information about the Pacific theatre. Word of warning, this is a big museum, lots to see. They do list short cuts if there is certain areas you are interested in. Would recommend going.
Way too much info to read. It will take a week or more for this museum to be fully toured. But I do like ww2 stuff. I needed more time. I just had an hour to go thru it. I was with a tour group and on a schedule.
Great museum. Take two days and see it all.
Very interesting to discover some unknown history. A little expensive for some but well kept.
Wow. What a wonderful museum. Set aside some time it takes a while to walk through, but it’s so worth it.
What a great museum! Could spend several days in it! Very thorough! Loved it!
Was very interesting. Plus I can't figure how all of that stuff got to Texas it's no where close to the Pacific...lol
Had a great time and learned a great number of interesting things on the self guided tour there is even a full size submarine inside.
Great 2-3 hours to spend reviewing WW2 activities.
For a history buff a must see or for the person wanting to experience the era, see the tools of war the men, lives, personal owned mementos of men. A way to experience the time, too much to detail in a this platform,. WOW. ACTUAL PLANES,SUBMARINE, PT BOAT ,TANKS, AND PERSONAL STORIES OF MEN VOICES. AGAIN WOW. gift shop in 2 locations covered by one admission, worth the price and trip
It's a maze with no bathrooms! There aren't any guides to ask either. Great presentation, if a little long. After meandering through the labyrinth for an hour I finally saw a sign pointing to the bathrooms!
This museum began as a way to honor Admiral Chester Nimitz and his roll as Commander in Chief of Allied Forces in the Pacific during WW II, but it goes way beyond one man's war efforts. This museum covers America's participation in the war in the Pacific as well as any museum in the country. I was impressed with the breadth and depth of the displays. From the re-creation of a Pacific island battlefield, to invaluable artifacts such as a Japanese midget sub, to the Plaza of the Presidents, this is a must see museum for history buffs.
This is by far one of the best museums I have ever been to! The quality of the displays rivals The Smithsonian....all in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas! I was truly amazed at how wonderful this place is. The planes, boats, and submarines on display will absolutely amaze you!
Great place to take the kids and learn about history...
Wonderful museum packed with history. A must see in Fredericksburg!
This is an unforgettable museum. Since you came here to check, I have to tell you it is a must visit. Also the city is very interesting too.
It's a national treasure and a history buffy's nirvana.
This has to be one the best WWII museums around. It will take you about 3 hours to tour everything. Of you can attend the re-inactmemt part of the museum, it is worth your time.
One of the best places to learn about the history on WWII, especially on the pacific war.
What a mind blowing expierance for history buffs. To see it all does take several days. This focuses on the Pacific side of WWII. If you love to learn about war time history you will love this place.
