It's definitely a neat tour for the weird. The spaces are a little snug so you're walking through single file, but you can take pictures of everything. Overall I think it's worth the ticket price which is only a few dollars per person. The tour guide is fun and eccentric, and is preceded by a mini "freak show".

kris martin

What an interesting place to visit! My family and I had a great time checking out all of the exhibits and show. John T. Rex was quite the entertainer and the Minnesota Ice Man brought back memories of "Unsolved Mysteries" I recommend anyone passing through Austin stop by this place!

Anne Merino

Fabulous fun! A nostalgic trip back to the era of the "Cabinet of Curiosities". Great side show act. Charming, friendly staff.

Melissa Holder

The museum was odd and amusing. The tour guide was pretty funny; however, the performer at the end left us leaving like, 'What the heck did we just see?' I get he needs money for medical attention but it was painful to watch - and not because he stepped on glass or pretended to hit his hands. The way he presented himself and the up and down/often whiney tone of his voice grated every nerve in my body. I still tipped him 5 bucks. We all have to live, right?

Arpit Sethi

Average, Interesting but not real. Some very crazy peoples are guiding with indifferent accents. Place is okayish, but peoples managing it is terrible. I wish they had few things real. Smelly and unclean. Overcharging for this experience. Expensive tickets, Expensive goods.

A One

Absolutely cool experience all around. It's a weird museum and lived up to its name. Dan did a wonderful job!

Elizabeth Lewis

Definitely worth the money. The act that was provided was amazing and perfect. The different elements are so fun. I was second guessing if I wanted to go but I wanted to see for myself if it was worth it and IT WAS. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend as a date, random or fun go to spot to see some amazing elements ♡ 10/5 will go again when i come back.

Martin Anderson

Museum was interesting. Show at the end was wonderful. Really nice and knowledgeable staff

Nicko Gerrard

Great place! The store Staff is really cool. The tour is interesting, bizarre, and a very fun hour on 6th street!

Kayla Wagner

Super interesting place! Loved Dapper!

Brandon Gordon

The name is fitting, that's why we gave 2 stars. It was weird. It wasn't entertaining and our "tour guide" was rather bland and a little rude in his side comments matter in fact. He was condescending to his fellow coworkers and made a comment at the very beginning to a group of us "I'm so proud of you all, you didn't walk back here even though the chain was down. Some people do it like they own the place." Why would you say this? Then another employee said one of my coworkers don't like me. I'm assuming it our "tour guide." The highlight, short as it was, was the wax statue portion. The performance by the sideshow performer was so short it wasn't even super impressive.

Mini PCs

Some very cool artifacts but a bit pricey. The sideshow was pure cheese but the waxworks were cool. The gift shop was pricey too for what they had. We did enjoy browsing and reading about the artifacts on display.

Shelby Milner

The person who did our tour was awesome! He was super into his job you could tell! Btw he works voluntarily so make sure to tip him for his performance :) thank you

Nate Tripp

Awesome place to go to see the weird of Austin. Staff was nice, and tour guide was spectacular. We went late and it was just me and my wife so he took the time to give us background stories on each piece. Took pictures for us and the freakshow at the end was awesome. Price for tour is cheap, and we'll worth it. A must see on 6th Street.

Cool Dudes

Amazing, This place is a must-go if you ever come to Austin, Texas with all the mysterious and cool exhibits and funny and kind tour guide this place gives you an experience you can never forget.

Alexander Wolpe

Definitely weird, as it's intended!. Nothing really spectacular or crazy interesting IMO, but still fun and worth checking out

Ramon Rosales

Fun, interesting, and, well, weird! Kids will love this place. May be a little scary for younger children, but 9-12 year old's will be fine.

Leonard Rockso

Small and full of cool stuff. Worth coming to, if sideshows were your favorite part of a circus. It's like a small, local version of a Ripley's museum. Oh, there's also a live freak show. Inexpensive tour, and a gift shop full of curiosities. If you're visiting Austin, this place should be on your short list.

Doris

I liked the tour. It was interesting. Just not good if you can't handle a lot of people in a small place!

0LunarEclipse0

A must visit for any trip to Austin. Interesting store, but the main reason is the museum. Including a regular freak show. The highlight being these tip based entertainment.

Bryce Shreck

Didn’t even make it into the museum and was bombarded by homeless people asking for money. The entire area smelled of urine. There was a homeless man that decided to take a nap behind our tires with a biscuit on his lap for later. I Had to grab his feet( keep in mind he was wearing socks, that were quite wet) and pull him away from my car so I didn’t run him over because he wouldn’t wake up. Do not recommend unless you want robbed.

Barbara Lapierre

We found the museum to be a really cool place to visit with some very, very interesting stories to read & Mummification’s to see. Things inside look so realistic, I’m not sure what is real and what is not. The stage performers were great to watch but maybe a little scary for some delicate eyes.

Dani Horbiak

I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was really a huge disappointment. There was a wax museum of classic horror monsters, which just looked like a cheap Halloween exhibit, a hallway of shelves with a few two headed taxidermy animals, and the big feature, the Minnesota Iceman, which from a quick Google search is a sideshow scam from the '60's and '70's. Our tour guide hyped it up to be the "missing link" between man and ape. Nobody on earth would look at this today and believe it was real. And even a small child would be disappointed staring into this frosty box where hardly anything is visible. Our tour guide, while clearly giving it his best, enjoyed the sound of his own voice a little too much and was not charismatic enough to support his cringe-inducing monologues. We heard there was a live show and ran for the exit.

Shelly Herr

My Bestie was visiting and this was on her list of things to do and see here in Austin. I had no clue they even existed. It was kinda cool. Was shocked at how big it actually was, it was kind of a maze and the tour was interesting. The wildest part was they had an exhibit that toured the US in the 70's, I actually seen it then when I was in like 2nd or 3rd grade at the Dayton Mall, really blew me away. How bizarre is that, then factor in the fact that I think it was " miss placed" for several years. (sorry I was only half listening to tour guide's spiel on history of exhibit cause I couldn't believe it was the same one I had seen as a child) What are the odds of that?? CRAZY!! DEFINITELY lived up to it's name!! Weird but really COOL!! And REALLY loved the gift shop!!

Calm Videos

The museum was interesting and has oddities worth checking out. Be sure to take your time in the first exhibit area. The workers are incredible and have loads of information and facts and are fantastic performers. Parts are a little dated but this is Austin and it fits the vibe well. Our daughters were a bit creeped out at first but Josh put them at ease and let them know nothing was going to scare them and they rocked it. Dan had a great little performance and was very personable.

Amanda Cook

We love weird stuff like this. Definitely take the tour for the feak show and bring cash to tip well!

Aaron Foster Breilyn

Take your time on the tour! The self guided stuff is the best!

Juan Gomez

Small Museum, said they were expanding, and takes about 30 minutes to experience the whole thing. You do have to climb stairs, so if you cannot perform that task, you won’t be able to enjoy the exhibit.

Blake Nichols

Definitely a fun attraction for all ages.

Mackenzie Summers

I've been coming to the Museum of the Weird for years and it's always going to be one of my favorite places in Austin! All the vaudeville things are super interesting and the taxidermy is very cool! I also love that a sideshow is included with the price of the ticket and I've never seen the same act twice. I 100% recommend visiting the museum whenever you can!

Azurien Bellatrix

Neat and quirky place. I couldn't see much because I couldn't climb the stairs but the girl who worked there was really nice and it was fun to visit

Timothy Clark

Great place for classic horror movie enthusiasts!

PS M

Different, interesting and a fun way to kill some time.

Amber Westberry

Loved it! My girls had a great time (ages 15 and 12)! They cannot wait to return! We can't either! Staff was great and we loved all aspects of it!!

Megan Peck

Loved it and so will you and your family! Definitely recommend giving it a go if you find yourself in the area with nothing to do. Admission is cheap too!

Anna Alam

There were a lot of interesting things to look at and buy but it was super crowded and you end up having to push through other tour groups just to get out. The layout and the tour was a bit confusing because you don't have a guide the entire time and you're not always certain where you can and can't go. At times it was so crowded that you couldn't really move. I don't know if I even got to see the whole museum because there weren't any signs, maps, or tour guides to guide you in all of the chaos. There is a lot to see but because the displays are in tiny hallways, you might not get to see it all especially since other groups are also crowded into the tiny spaces. If you can, try to go during a time in which other people might not be out and about. There was also a performer basically straight forward begging for tips. More of his show was about him needing money than anything else. I understand him needing money but it really made me feel pressured more than entertained.

Justin Bacuetes

Place was awesome!! Definitely check it out.

Joanna Sanders

The staff is super cool and entertaining!! The exhibits are awesome!! I want to say more but don’t want to ruin the experience for anyone. The element of surprise and suspense added to our experience!!! I would recommend it and it’s family appropriate!!!

Madelin Jacobs

Great attraction for tourists and quite reasonable entry fee. Quite small but at the same time, there is lots to see and read which I think would be interesting to anybody. If you go in the evening the street (sixth) lights up and there us lots of bars and live music to enjoy after.

Nick Mollo

Interesting stuff. The live attraction guy was pretty funny and personable. I wish it was larger with even more weird stuff.

Alex Knauss

Absolutely worth doing!! Very friendly staff and performers. The whole museum is lined wall to wall with something unique. An impressive collection of the weird!

Nichole Womack

This place was AWESOME!! They definitely are keeping up with the mantra of "KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD!"

E G

Is it worth the $12 each you pay to enter? To me, no. But it is worth the $10 each I would have paid for it. The guy at the counter really sold me. I wanted to stick around and see it just because he said how cool it was. This is just an employee, not the owner. They have a man on Ice, the one that used to be from the fairs. That alone was worth the $10 I would have paid.

Tony Tran

This place was cool af (excuse my language!)! The tour wasn't extremely long but very detail. You have a guide that takes you through the museum and explains everything about it (background of the owner and how it all started)! There was even a show at the end that I won't spoil but it was awesome! Definitely a spot to check out if you ever visit Austin!

Sillygirltx 100Mil $$

Loved Dan Block!! Best part of the whole thing for sure. If ur interested in weirdness do it! Dan was totally worth the $12 admission and the $15tip I gave him!

John Tobin

My kinda place, great tongue in cheek fun for the family. The exhibits are well done and our guide was excellent. The live entertainment was fun too. Definitely worth a visit if you like cheesy sideshow oddities.

Charles Stevens

We had gone to Ripley's believe it or not a few days prior in San Antonio. Oddly, we enjoyed this place more. I believe it was because of the friendly atmosphere and staff despite being much smaller than Ripley's. Just a fun time.

Taylor Wilson

It was a neat little place. A little spendy for tour and gift shop was a little spendy too. It’s in a horrible place of town with tons of homeless people but I guess that adds to the atmosphere of the place. There were some interesting stories and items there - mainly from old horror movies and “freaks” of history like the elephant man, etc. The staff are nice.

Tristan and Ashley

Fun for the Family. The Museum is certainly something to see. The items were weird. And the staff were pleasant. We stayed in much longer than we expected enjoying the museum and reading the stories!

Graciela Vazquez Fowler

Great collection some your guides are better then others

karsen mcclain

Great add on to my trip. My best friend and I decided to go in at random. Price was pretty low! Our tour guide was rushing us through which was kinda rude, but the magic act was so good. Guy was funny and wax museum was intresting. Good thing to do if you have free time. 10/10 would recommend to go to with a close friend for fun!

Vanessa M. Horner

Definitely weird but all the people are super nice. The actual museum part was ok. Much more geared toward children for sure. Freaky but not too scary. The kids that were there seemed to be enjoying themselves and not afraid.

Jon

Must see in Austin that won't eat up a lot of your time. Interesting exhibit and the tour and show are great. Right in 6th Street, probably the weirdest street in Austin

fred fulford

Cool place to come. Worth a tour as you will experience some rather strange things. Didnt know what to expect to be honest but it was very entertaining. If you have a spair hour it's worth a drop in, but but the tour.

Sheila Love

We were torn between a 3 star and a 4 star. If you're a freaky monster movie geek, this is the place for ya. Weird is a good name.

Kellie Sherrill

Do not bring young kids here! I can’t believe they sold us tickets. My friend really wanted to see this and I was hosting her so we went with my infant, 4 year old and 2 year old. They sold me tickets and didn’t even warn me how scary it would be. I thought it was like the wax museum in LA but it’s not. It’s a garish freak show display. My kids were frightened immediately and when I told the lady she wouldn’t give me a refund. Really?! I see how you are.

Marjorie McDougle

Really fun. Worth the time and $

Kevin Chun

Strange and weird. Aptly named. Worth the price of admission

Lisa Miller

Such a fun stop! Worth paying $12 for the tour. Staff was super nice, and it was fun to do something weirdly different.

Bee Naah

This has got to be the fakes "museum of the weird" (more like museum of the fake) hot af ya need to fix those ac units, side show guy begged for tips so I can tell the owner doesn't pay well. You guys its 2019 almost 2020 and ya still using the 90s figures like really Minnesota ice man? Anyways don't go its better just to rent a scooter and ride around the city that was fun!

Clara Nichols

We love coming to this place when we visit Austin. Keep Austin weird.

Rose Torres

Do not waste your time and money there’s not even that much stuff in there probably two tiny rooms and at the end the guy does a lil show that was gross but it was good. Other than that you can spend 12 dollars in Austin doing something waaayyy better and entertaining. Place smells unpleasant and dusty. I don’t recommend it.

Mig Gallo

Interesting place, we thought it was a bit costly at first, but it included a tour and a show at the end which made it an explicitly better deal. I would say they need more order and would have gotten 5 stars from me if there was. We got there and were told that our ticket came with a tour if we wanted and with no more explanation than that other than to motion towards the entrance of the museum. She was very nice, but it would have helped to explain that we would need to walk down to the end of the walkway where it is chained off and wait in line until they were ready to start the tour. It would have also been informative if they let us know that the tours happen every 20 + minutes and that they cut off at 18-20 people max per tour. It would also behoove them to inform us that there was an extremely worthwhile performance at the end and perhaps let us know we could tip that performer if we chose to. Just the mention of the tip may have helped the performer out some. NOTE TO ESTABLISHMENT: I would recommend a script that can be pasted at the cashier desk that could be read to quickly inform those interested in purchasing tickets. It would also, help if they had something to read explaining all this where people entering could see. If the show at the end is a staple of the tour, it should be advertised infront and in the entrance. The show is a quality act that could draw more people in. Just my thoughts anyway!

Tim Loya

Great collection of artifacts and curiosities. The tour is well worth the wait, especially the side show. The Black Scorpion is awesome! But the shirt.

Cyrus Baty

If you aren't into side show freaks, big foot, UFOs, chubacabras, freaks, taxidermy, schlock horror movies, etc. etc. don't bother. If you are this is a must visit. The side show is great and I finally got to see the cave man frozen in the block of ice. I had seen the tv show about him like 30 years ago and there he was in the back! Loved all the information and the unique exhibits. The staff was fabulous and friendly! Really made my day!

Josh Ramirez

(Must read) The staff was nice and the Tour guide was interactive. At the end of the tour a “performance” is done *dont want to spoil it* now by the blind eye it is amazing and a good act but... I would recommend you not participate if you’re not fond of black magic. My girlfriend, her friend and I went. My girlfriend participated and we were amazing by the show. But afterwards she felt off, her mood shifted for days and we didn’t know why. Her sister practices white magic and studies energies and such *not sure what that’s called* and called out what had happened. Being that an offering was asked *A tip* at the end of the show, showed that a sort of black magic was reinforced at the time. Apparently when you ask for money or something of value it’s like an offering to the devil or some other entity. Now she ended up getting a cleanse *The Hispanic egg cleanse* and the yoke came out of the egg partially cooked and cloudy. If you’re aware of the tradition you know what it means. She then got a cleanse with sage and stones. Afterwards she felt like a glooming shadow had left her body. She was back to normal and said the rut she was in was gone. Apparently when you participate in black magic the host is connected to you and that is the reason why they can “see” and know what you’re thinking. So if you’re not into it don’t jump at it. I’m not a big spiritual or magic person but this experience was definitely an eye opener on what can be done on a whole other level. One star was deducted due to the lack of advising the audience that black magic was to be performed since a lot of people might be unaware. Other than that it’s a nice stop and some cool information.

Mandy Murphy

My friend lauren and I had a great experience. The tour was great! I highly recommend! Thanks guys!

Debby F

If you approach seeing this place as one would approach a carnival, it's a load of fun. It's definitely named well! I even got to see the fur coated fish that was featured on the Travel channel show Mysteries at the Museum. My friend and her 9 year old son were not of a similar mind. Of course they don't share in my personal motto "I'm weird and I'm proud of it!".

Louie Tapia

The exhibits and guides and showman were totally astounding! the experience was all great save the cashier's attitude! He was a slim, beared man with glasses and a total jerk. Figure that job would be a carefree, cool place to work but he sure conveyed otherwise with his sarcasm and rudeness. If it were not for my kids curiosity of the museum we would have just left.

Brenda Castles

Really worth it. Unique experience.

Josh Lankerd

Visited with my 9, 8, and 6 year old. A little creepy and weird, but a great time was had by all and the kids loved it. A unique experience and a throw back to a time of wonder of the unknown.

Donn Hussey

You need to go here. Move slow. Read everything. Ask questions. It's worth the effort and price.

donovan luna

Was a real nice experience for my girlfriend and I. The sideshow dude at the end was a blast as well!!!

Dan Ziegler

Definitely a unique way to spend an hour. The most entertaining part is the sideshow. Definitely a good stop on a day on sixth street! Unique gift store as opposed to the four other places with the same things. Also check out the fortune telling machine but don't wish to be big!

Marnie Lang

After reading reviews others have left, I’m confused! Some speak of an electricity show and a mind reader..I feel like my visit was shorted. I didn’t see these things. The museum is cute and small. Many neat things to see in a small space but, I would’ve liked to have seen a little more. I think the ice man thing is the neatest part of the museum for me. My 8 year old son enjoyed the museum a lot. My 12 year old daughter found it well, too weird for her. I wish the tour was longer. I also missed being given the info before entering that the performers work on tips. So, did that include the first two who were out your guided for 10 minutes each? Or just the sideshow guy with his dog? He’s the only one I tipped. His show was cool but super short. I maybe was in there for 50 minutes. I think it needs to be between 70-90 minutes long for the price and add in tipping. The owner was very nice, enthusiastic, and excited about what he does. I was happy to meet him and get to ask him questions. Worth seeing if you love weird and creepy things but, surely is short.

Charles O'Brian

Pretty interesting. The entire experience is a bit short for the admission price, but kinda fun anyway. If you can get a deal on admission, definitely do that.

Michelle Banfield

Very cool, funky place that definitely lives up to its name. Besides the self-guided exhibits, there is a tour guide and a performer. Worth the trip to check out this gem of an Austin experience

David Gonzales

The people were so nice and I really enjoyed talking with mr. John trex. He is a very kind man and please tip him his performances are amazing and he is a saint for volunteering his time.

Gary Kee

I've been to some really fun weird places around the country. Unfortunately, this is not one of them :(

Pastel Princess

Nice staff and cool and weird stuff. I went the other day with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed it. It is a little creepy but still very neat. It’s a pretty small museum but I think it’s well priced for the stuff they have there. If you’re into weird and creepy things, definitely take a trip to this place, you won’t regret it.

Hannah

Very cool if you're into side show stuff and old horror movie vibes. Lots of taxidermy animals with multiple heads, old artifacts, and ghost stories from around Austin. You can knock it out in about an hour easily, and there's tons of cool restaurants and bars in the area for other stuff to do. Bring cash, the short performance at the end is paid by tips and the staff is very enthusiastic and fun to follow.

Jessica Oldham

We had so much fun! Dan had the best show, we will definitely be back for that show. The wax museum tour was very engaging, I love all the whole old school horror icons!

David Whiteman

Very cool! Loves all of the oddities and curiosities. The wax figures were great, especially the horror movie figures like Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster! Love Horror and the weird! The owner and staff are real nice. Gift shop is cool too. Toys, Tshirts and comics! Awesome! However, the museum is a little smaller than I expected. A little cramped and there are a lot of stairs. Also, not in the best part of town of course so I don't recommend coming at night. Otherwise, Keep Austin Weird!

Tony Westbrook

The staff was super friendly, the tour guides for the museum part were really nice and liked telling jokes and this place is kid friendly. So all in all had a great time and enjoyed it a lot.

Paul sneed

Pretty cool and fun place to kill 45 mins or so. Believe what YOU want and leave the rest, mean that in a fun positive way. A lot to see. The store front has a lot of cool and funny stuff for sale. I recommend at least stopping in the store. The tour is only $12, worth it.

melinda lucas

This is a cute little museum with some interesting displays. The people were friendly and our guide was funny. It's small & I didn't feel like it was worth $12 per person. The last part of the 'tour' was a 'freak show act'. It was too loud for the room it was located in and it could have been better than it was. There were only adults in the audience, but the act was more like what you expect at a child's birthday party.

J San

Really cool little place and I'm glad we went forgoing a few bad reviews. If you're into strange fun knickknacks then this is the place to hit up! The museum itself is small (could have done without the sideshow performance) but still a cool experience. The gift shop is a definite spot you should check out

Judith Ferguson

It's pretty weird. Staff is also weird (in a funny way) A lot of wax figures based on movies. 2 shows included with admission fee ($12) would definitely reccomend stopping by.

Terry Gibson

For $12 a person it is interesting enough to go see. You go through an area with some oddities and have to wait for the tour guy and the other small shows that they have. The tour guy made it interesting and the highlight was the electricity show. Some place to spend a couple of hrs and be entertained. Have to find parking and street parking. Recommended.

Justin Servantez

This place diserves 5 stars alone for the unique collection of weird stuff.

Brandy McKnight

The people who work there are very accommodating and friendly. However, this is not just a wax museum. It also has a freak show, which feels exploitative. And the store sells what it claims are dead animals suspended in some sort of liquid. I suspect/hope they are actually plastic. The main attraction is an ice man...which is also problematic, not just because it appears fake, but because of the history of this particular so called ice man. The attraction also involves a lot of small spaces and climbing, which makes it difficult for visually handicapped people to get to all the exhibits.

Vivi Cedillo

Great place to visit, small but okay, and a live short entertainment show...

Emily Harsch

Really neat place to kill an hour of time! They give you an experience and not just walking through a museum. Bring cash for tips for performers!

Taylene Gary

So fun, such a different experience that was wonderful. Go check out this place for a different adventure. The staff are playful and fun. We had an absolute blast!

Bobby Smathers

Awesome staff and great place to check out all the weird things.

Angela Cleverdon

A lot of fun and very friendly staff. Make sure you see the side show!

jasmine Hall

Loved it! Such an amazing place to check out while in austin.

Hena Hamzic

Strangest place I've ever been to. When they say "Keep Austin Weird" this is the true pinnacle of what they meant. There is really no place like it, and there is no way for me to describe how this place made me feel because there are so many factors to consider. My favorite part of the whole experience is the amazing tour guide. In our tour he tried to "gain a spiritual connection with us" which at first made me think it was complete bs. But then he proceeded to guess a number of things that couldn't have possibly known. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Austin. My only complaint has nothing to do with the tour, but rather the location. There are quite a few crazy homeless people in the area, please be careful and just don't make eye contact. Hope you have an awesome trip like we did.

Christen Weaver

A absolute gem in downtown Austin! Tons of creepy, kooky displays, a fantastic sideshow, a chance to see the iceman! The staff are wonderful, so much fun! A must have experience. PLEASE TIP THE PERFORMERS! They live to entertain!

brent rohrer

Very cool place, good tour, and the freak show at the end was awesome

Roxanne Royer

Museum of the cringe instead of the weird. There was cool stuff to see, but it was way smaller than expected. So small that when we stoped at some place to read, people could hardly pass, so we didn’t got the chance to read much. Some places the sound wasn’t loud enough. We loved the gift shop.

yosoydame

Me and my friend got a couple of good shows in here and saw the frizen man!!! A cool and cute museum with real sites to see.

Ken Schaefer

Excellent fun. Not for the super sensitive. Not entirely "correct". Great wax works, fun tour. Especially worth it for classic horror movie fans.

Julian Hinojosa

A lot of interesting facts and stories of each wax figures and pictures.

Georgina Phelan

Ok.... so it’s weird but what were you expecting? The guide was very friendly and although the place is quite small we were led around to different rooms and talked through what they had on display. One part I wasn’t expecting was the sideshow act (I probably just missed the sign) and while that isn’t really my cup of tea you couldn’t fault his enthusiasm or his performance. So if that’s up your street this would be an excellent place to visit.

Lael Wallin

Absolutely creepy. Absolutely terrifying. Loved every bit of it.

sanessa Martinez

This place was super cool. It's small but has lots to keep your mind busy. Make sure you stay till the end and watch the side show. And take some cash as the performers are payed by tips and are so worth it. My kids age 10 and 14 loved it. I was not disappointed whatsoever. We will return again.

Arthur V

Place was small but very interesting. Very Austin vibe. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much. Stay for the show and get a poster.

cassie starnes

I LOVED IT! The people were amazing and so nice. The things that were displayed for us to see were really cool and interesting. My favorite part of it was when we went to see the little side show. He was funny and really cool, what he did was really cool. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Brenda Z

We have tried going to this place twice. Both times we have not been able to find parking and have been turned off by the huge number of homeless people crossing the streets while we're trying to find a parking spot

Timothy Owens

A really cool little museum with quite a few interesting displays. You'll see quite a few familiar creatures and things from all your favorite past time movies and lores. You'll also get to see a little sideshow at the end of the tour as well.

Sambo Wilson

Amazing place with great exhibits and the side show at the end is always a blast!

Cory D. D. Miller

THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME!!! A co-worker and myself found ourselves in Austin for the night. We grabbed dinner and wanted to do something fun and different. We heard about this place and had our doubts. Those were quickly banished away. We had a freaking blast. The staff was super nice and our guide was very funny. His jokes were what really made the tour. Also the magic show at the end was super fun. They also have a very cool exhibit that I will not spoil so that will be the teaser to get you in there. Super fun and lots of trinkets to buy afterwards.

Kelly Webster

It was weird. Didn't care for the side show begging for tips, I think once is enough to ask for tips. Too bad they cant share the fee to enter with him so he doesn't have to beg. We got enough of of that walking down 6th street to get there.

It was a cool place to visit. I was expecting something like Ripley's Believe it or not in DFW, but this was quite small. I thought $12 was a great deal with the tour, but theres really not a whole lot so it's a little pricey. It wouldve been nice to know that there is a sideshow at the end so I couldve gotten some cash to tip the guy (I rarely carry cash now a days). But they have a cool gift shop though.

Jazmine Davalos

This was cool! Good price for the small venue

Leslie Rocha

Very interesting museum I loved the tour and the sideshow at the end I will definitely be going back for more

Matt Guilbert

$12 is a little pricey but seriously it is like going through 4 sideshows which would add up to that any ways. I think it is worth going at least once.

Manuel Cruz

Great place for exploring urban legends and folklore local and national. Very informal staff, friendly environment and kid-friendly. Pretty fun for those looking for have a good time to relax and see some interesting and silly things. I've been here 3 times before all with different people and it never fades on me. Tours usually run about 30-45 minutes.

Andrew Hughes

The is a throwback to the old days of sideshow. And, it was wonderful. My wife and I had an amazing time and it was a highlight of our Austin experience. It is quirky, weird and absolutely wonderful. Our guide was stellar, although his name escapes me. Dan and Dapper put on one heck of a show. Take the stick out of your keister, sit back, relax and enjoy.

Hotpink51

Fun quirky little museum, admission feels a little pricey to me at $12 but it was a lot of fun. The performance was the best part!

Chris Tanguay

Odd little tourist attraction. Staff was super friendly, and pointed out a number of items easily overlooked in the packed space. Sideshow was brief but entertaining. Gift shop had interesting items as well. Highly recommended for those into curiosities.

A great place to bring little ones and experience some weird. I've been to Ripleys in St Augustine and that place is nice but I feel like it's so spread out and that sort of makes it lose some of its enjoyment. This place is tightly packed with a nice staff and nice props (if they are props). The real standout though is John Husted who is the sideshow performer, he had both my children memorized and he was so polite when they met him, a real performer and a real gentleman.

Dan Hines

Fun place. Nice people. A great place for B horror movie fans!

Brandon Propst

It is wierd. Very weird. Will say the best part was the black scorpion he was a hoot.

Lord Helmut

It was full of weird stuff, so no false advertising. Was really rad for a small space, quite well done. The sideshow dude was great. All around fun timr

Hope Hernandez

The side show at the end was great. He was funny and very entertaining. However the rest was a waste of time and money. Way too much per person for the little they offer. Do not waste your time or money here. There is nothing to see. Wax statues of Dracula and such from movies. Nothing exciting or special.

mathlover146

Very weird. Cool little show towards the end that you should bring some cash to tip. Some cool wax figures and a cute little shop in the front.

Regina McCloskey

They had some cool things in the approximately 200 square foot “museum” but it definitely wasn’t worth the $12 they charged. I guess it’s cool if you’re into hoax stories like big foot and fish with fur. I left feeling underwhelmed and swindled. I was done there within 5 minutes.

One of the male guides early morning was a terrible soul. Worst museum experience me and my guests have ever had to go through. We were standing by the exit door inside the museum and he accused of being suspicious while we were admiring the Alien vs Predator exhibit and his excuse was that “nobody just stands by the exit door”. THE EXIT DOOR IS RIGHT BY AN EXHBIT. Mind you we had just walked in and wondered to that side of the exhibit ! That was right after we each payed for our ticket! He was extremely rude and made absurb comments about all of us, (we had just woken up and I guess we didn’t appear to be in the best shape) but due to how the “looked” , he treated us very unfairly and we couldn’t even admire the whole exhibit without him staring us down and basically rushing us to get out of there. I’ve never been through this sort of experience in the beautiful city of Austin and I have advised all my friends, family and acquaintances to never , ever visit this terrible of an establishment. The man at the gift shop was awesome, but I can’t believe this a museum , especially in the city of Austin, judges people based on what they are wearing. I would give 0 stars if I could. Worst experience of my life when all we wanted to do was visit a nice , interesting museum. Interesting enough that I will never return, nor will any of my colleagues or associates.

Caitlin Leeper

What a memorable experience. The tour is worth it, for sure! Our guide Saul was AMAZING!! Definitely atleast pop in to the gift shop and check this place out.

Josh Hilliard

Easily one of the funnest things I have done in Austin. Excellent staff! Highly recommend!

Michaela Getlein

It was certainly weird..and fun too

Alana Gray

The sideshow guy was great! Our tour guide also made it fun.

Tori Holmes

It's definitely weird. Didn't expect the sideshow that happened but I guess I didn't know what to expect in the first place! Worth the $12 fee for mid-day entertainment. The Program Director there was talking about how they're starting walking tours...I'd be interested in going on one of those too!

Cody Harahus

This place is great! Friendly staff, cool exhibit, and the last part of the tour sells the experience on its own. May be a bit scary for very young ones. Super affordable!!!

Racheal Valdez

I've been there twice in my visits to Austin and each time i loved it. So did my family.

Jeremy Baeza

Just ok. $12 to get in and a very short experience. We spent more time in line waiting then actually in the tour. The history of the place was interesting and the staff were very nice but I doubt I'd visit again.

Chris Hemedinger

Fun in a campy way. Most fun is the tour guide, who really puts the "Weird" in Museum of the Weird. Good if you have an hour to kill and $12 burning a hole in your pocket.

Lance Bryan

I love this place. It's a must visit when visiting Austin. How can you "Keep Austin Weird" if you don't visit the museum of the weird??? Our tour guide Nick was awesome. He seemed really knowledgeable and incredibly hilarious. 5 stars for sure

Marie-eve Ward

Very disorganized. "Exhibits" are uninteresting. Waste of time and money. 1 star for the live performance which was the only weird thing about this museum.

Jessica Bryant

Me and my group had a fantastic time! The guide (who’s name I unfortunately did not catch) was very helpful with taking photos, and was quite funny as well. We also really REALLY loved the sideshow! It’s a really interesting experience, and the smaller space makes the whole experience more intimate and enjoyable. Dan did an excellent job, and his dog was super cute!

Ashley Edmondson

Boasting to be one of the last dime carnival attractions left, it housed a couple well know oddities, and a lot of wax figures of horror icons from the 1920's. Audrey 2 greets you at the door, and a tour guide with a lot of passion shows you around. Of oddities is your jam and you are in Austin go!

Angel Dicus

Pretty interesting but no much there. Johnny Depp lived there in the 90s!

Ashley Newman

Enjoyed the experience. Sideshow performer was fantastic.

Christian Perez

Pretty cool if you're tipsy. Awesome place to bring young kids as well. When you walk in just go up to the register and say you'd like to take a tour. It'll be like 12 per ticket. The 1st part will have interesting items followed by a tour guide with interesting trivia. Various parts from the history of the owner to wax figures of classic horror to an interesting act. It doesn't hurt to see what it's about. Plus the gift shop is pretty cool!

Sara Beth Valdez

For a fact when we called the guy said $5 for adults and $3 for kids. When we got there that obviously was not the case. He said if I spoke with him(which I did) He had never said that. Then he said he remembered speaking with me and knew he didn’t tell me that. Then said he wasn’t sure if I was the person he spoke with. Guy obviously wasn’t confident in what he said, and I knew what I heard. Just so anyone’s wondering it’s $12 for adults and $8 for kids.

Cristina Rubio

Great show at the end of the exhibit. So many surprising features.
