Had a great time there with my 3 1/2 year old grandson. His favorites were the outdoor water exhibit and the wall with the air tubes. We ate lunch at the cafe and were pleasantly surprised how good it was. Friendly staff and lots of hands on stuff for the kids. Will definitely be back.

We absolutely love the children's museum! It can be very busy at times! Week days are best for less people, weekend go early. The staff is friendly most of the time you won't even realize they are there. The stations are awesome and offer a wide variety of activities, role play, educational, and imaginative ideas! The add on exhibits are awesome our kids love the dinosaur exhibit with animatronic style dinosaurs! Only complaint, watch out for the parents that use this as a baby sitter. Especially on weekends, you'll get herds of kids with no manners and running 100mph everywhere, screaming, yet you can never seem to find a parent for them. They have knocked and ran our children over several times. Staff has been informed and seem to have made a dent in it.

What a fantastic place to take kids of all ages. Even has party rooms available. The best thing is there is lots for the kids to do that doesn't include arcade machines.

Fact Or Fiction

Fun place for small children. Interactive grocery store with mini carts, foods and a deli a bank with money and a play area. They can paint like a artist and face paint. The space exhibit is a very good learning experience for the kids and the Dinosaur exhibit is great. The water table area was closed for remodeling but it looked like it would be alot of fun. A bit pricey at seven dollars a person but the kids had a great time.

It had everything, even tho my 4 and 6 yr old only wanted to play with the water outside...they even accomodated my wife with a wheelchair and were so very excites to help us! The best children’s place in San Antonio area. It has many activities for your children to enjoys indoor and outdoor. The favorite part indoor for my family which are robot, ball section, stem and air (tunnel) section. Outdoor are bubble and water section.

Best Playspace for Young Kids (10 and younger). Yeah, this place is fantastic. It's completely designed for imaginative and interactive play as each space is filled with stuff to touch and toys to play with. They have a bank, campsite, NASA, grocery store, and house section for kids to play. Outside there is a water space and large playground with climbing space. I was especially grateful for there toddler section which is perfectly designed for under 3 to play without getting run over by bigger kids. I also think their art section is great but come ready for messy play there.

Patient, helpful staff running a wonderfully creative, interactive and informative place for kids to learn and play. Kudos to the designers, who created so many delightful ways to exercise young minds and bodies! Two very minor inconveniences: not very many places for a full-sized person to perch (though not sure how often they would get used as children moved from one area to another so quickly) and trash cans were also a bit scarce, so snotty tissues and used Band-Aids might need to be toted around a bit until one was found. Loved the "nap time" for the dinosaur exhibit (animation and sound were turned off for an hour after lunchtime) to make it a bit less intimidating for more easily frightened toddlers

We brought our boys here on vacation, and the five year old STILL asks to go constantly despite it being hours away. There is so much for kids to do and explore. We spent hours following them around as they went from room to room exploring and touching everything. Their favorite was one of the first areas we visited: the air tube room. They had a blast putting yarn balls and scarves into the tubes and waiting to see where they would fly out. If we ever find ourselves on vacation in the area again, this will be on our itinerary. Probably more than once.

We had a great afternoon here. Our 5 year old loved all the make believe play. It's a children's museum with lots of small versions of every day places where they can play. There is a bank, hospital, farm, etc. The outdoor area has a play scape and a large water table play area. The cost was reasonable for our family of 3,and we spent about 3.5 hours there.

My kiddos love coming here! There are plenty of areas to play in so it doesn't feel crowded and they never get bored. The outdoor water play is our favorite. I'm taking off one star because adults must pay as well. If you have multiple kids, it would be great to have more than one adult but it comes at a price. However, staff is friendly and they do a great job of keeping things tidy.

The themes are very well thought out and detailed. There are all sorts of activities for children to do, although the teaching aspect is fairly absent. It's more like a small amusement park for toddlers with facts geared more for adults.

It had plenty for kids to do and it showed them how to do what adults do everyday. Kids get a better understanding of what their parents do. The painting art/crafts area was fun cause kids got to create and paint what ever they wanted. Who ever thought of this did a great job cause they really thought of the kids.

Always so much fun to be had here. My son and I love the kitchen and camping areas, and the little grocery store is fun every time. Always clean, staff is friendly, and the new outdoor play area is great. Sometimes the water play feature works great, and sometimes it seems like there isn't enough water. Even then, everyone is having fun. Love the craft area as well. I take my little dude here everytime we're in town. Bathroom could use a teeny bit of TLC more frequently throughout the day, but the facilities are in good working order, and mostly clean.

Clean, quality place for younger kids. Mostly miniature/ pretend play whereas other children's museums have more science/learning for older kids (but I see lots of older kids having fun too). I find it perfect for the under 5s to spend a couple hrs.

The staff is amazing. Everything's clean. I have for three kids, ages 5, 2.5, and an infant, and we never want to leave. The new outside jungle gym is great because there's only one place they could possibly fall from and it's not crazy high. Most of the outside area is shaded, too, which is fantastic in Texas. We could come 5 days a week and never be bored. It's well worth the money and the 40 minute drive.

This was our first time here and it was great. Our 3year old son had a blast. So much to do and see. The entrance fee for 3 was $22.50 so not bad. We spent about two hours going throughout the place and our kid didn't know where to start...or end for that matter. Recommend this place for small kids and family. This is smaller in comparison to Doseum but just as fun.

McKenna is one of my kids (ages 4.5 and 2) favorite places to play! It's educational but also very fum and engaging. It offers lots of opportunities for roleplay and imaginative play. They have an outdoor area with lots of water tables, drums and a "treehouse" with a slide. Inside, you'll find a tank with fish and turtles, a play ambulance with lights and sirens, a grocery store with carts and 2 check out lanes, a doctor's office/nursery, dress up clothes, a tent, camper and campfire area, a kitchen area, bat cave, and an area to paint, color, do facepaint and crafts. We love it!

Great place to bring the kids! The museum has several different sections the kids can play in to include a bank, grocery store, space ship and launch control, and even a prehistoric area with giant dinosaurs! They even had an outside area set up with a water tables and foam building blocks. We easy spent three hours there. This is a great family place to visit when in New Braunfels.

My kids love this children's museum. It is small enough that they can manage the stations in their own and I don't have to sorry about getting separated from them. It uses imaginative play and keeps them occupied the entire day. My oldest girl (9) still really enjoys it too!

This kids museum is awesome! It has a space rocket where kids can put an astronaut suit and visit the space station. It also has an ambulance, a hospital with nursery, operation table and lab, a panting station where they can express their inner Picasso, a ranch with a cow, the wind pipes where they can put plush balls and see them go, a water station where they can play with water streams, boats and learn the basic phisics, a little coffee shop and tables. I took my kids over there because of the afternoon heat and had a wonderful time!

I can’t say enough good about this museum. I was honestly surprised that is was this good for being a small town museum. There’s plenty for children to do and we spend hours at a time there with our 3 kids. It is a very clean facility and they have a nice gift shop if you’re interested in purchasing goodies for the kids. The outdoor area is great as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to McKenna Children's Museum today! Our three kids under 6 were literally in hog heaven pretending to be astronauts, doctors, shoppers, home builders, etc. The outdoor exhibits are just as fun as the indoors with an awesome water area, music corner, and playground. It's just as good as the Thinkery in Austin but less crowded, so the kids have more independence to explore without being overwhelmed. Plus it's half the price. A must visit attraction for young kids in the New Braunfels area.

My kids really enjoyed their time at McKenna! I recommend especially for toddler/preschool age. I only gave it 4 stars versus 5 because there was quite a few non functional items throughout. I did like that it is smaller and more intimate than say The DoSeum. If my kids ran off I knew they couldn’t be far away.

Our son had the time of his life playing here yesterday! I don't mind being charged admission as an adult which seems to be common complaint. Seems like the funds go to creating an awesome space for imaginative play♡ the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the space was warm and inviting. I loved that kids could roam free and toys were allowed to be moved from space to space. Free, creative, imaginative play is a beautiful thing. I wish we lived closer, we would be there all the time!

It was a lot of fun for the children. Definitely worth the membership price. Love that it has inside and outside play areas. Staff is so friendly. The only down side is a good amount of parents are not interacting with the children and are ignoring them so they are unsupervised some are sweet but some are really out of control.

Very neat place to take the kid. Kids from 2 or 3 all the way up to 10 or 12 were having fun. My 4yo loves it. There are several different rooms set up with various activities to keep them busy. Favorites include putting on the astronaut costume and walking through the outer space exhibit and the huge climbing tower out back. Honorable mention goes to the tiny grocery store inside with kid sized baskets and little cash registers for them to act like they're shopping . Overall a huge hit and a great place to kill a few hours in a positive way

We always wait until after lunchtime so the place starts to thin out a bit from the field trips and summer care programs. They have so many different areas to play and learn. My son loves the space walk and airchutes, while my daughter could spend all day in the medical area caring for the baby dolls. This place is great! Just wish they didn't make you walk through the gift shop in order to get tickets and go inside.

We are members. My kids love it here. They are always updating and making it better and novel for the kiddos. They frequently host special events of all kinds. My one complaint is the field trips from daycares or summer camps. The people "watching" the kids are generally very young /teenagers. They aren't totally aware of the children at all times, and my kids have had a lot of problems with those group kiddos taking toys, pushing and shoving, and one instance a kid just dumped a bucket of water on my child and ran away laughing. I would request the museum be more stringent with their chaperone to child ratio and behavior expectations.

My kids absolutely loved this museum! The art room was my favorite but I think the outdoor water feature and jungle gym was their favorite. Compared to San Antonio's Doseum, McKenna seems much better maintained and perhaps even better laid out. The whole thing is designed in a circle around a central baby area with benches for seating. I am knocking this down two stars due to the atmosphere and staff attitude. Even from our orientation I felt like we were intruders and slightly unwelcome. The kids were given a very long list of rules before being allowed to enter. They were not unreasonable rules, per se, but it was the attitude of the whole thing. Throughout the museum, McKenna had far fewer staff to help keep things running smoothly and tidy which I suppose is why they hammer the "clean up after yourself" rule so hard. Further, when I was in that art room I loved so much the staff member in there never spoke one word to me or my kids. Very awkward. Once again, I felt like we were intruding.

Visited this place with my the year old and 10 mo. year old to break up a three hour drive. It was way more awesome than I thought. I'm jealous of the folks who live nearby that can bring their kiddos so they want. Well worth the stop. The lunch place inside was expensive, though!

Great kids museum with friendly staff. It is smaller than the larger kids museums in the area (Austin, San Antonio) but still great for a day out. It has some of the very standard features like water tables and grocery store that kids can't get enough of then it also has very neat things of their own like the moon walk and the air tubes which the kids wanted to do over and over.

Had a joint birthday party for our girls age 7 & 4. Cake, pizza from Domino's, lemonade & water were all taken care of by the museum. Including plates, silverware and napkins. They also provided invitations!! Everyone had a great time!! Friends who had never been to the museum were excited to be there and they had lots of fun.

This is a very nice facility. My only complaint is that it's small. All the interactive exhibits are well thought-out and designed. My kids had a blast learning and playing in the facility. Don't expect to spend a whole day there, though I suppose we did spend about 5 hours, but it's with a visit.

We were there for free toddler Tuesday. My 1 year old had so much fun exploring. His favorites were the train station, painting, turtle tank, and the wind tunnel that shoots items up toward the ceiling. He also loved the outside section. They also had toilet training information and giveaway that day which I loved. My only complaint was having to pay full price for my ticket. He's only 1, of course he's going to have an adult with him so I still had to pay to take him to the museum on free toddler day. I'd think one adult (whether with one child or 10) should get in free... just my opinion.

Super neat place to bring kids from ages 12 months to 9yrs. And you can bring outside food and drinks which is nice, but if not the onsite cafeteria is amazing!

This place is amazing! We attended here with a field trip. There are so many different areas for children to play and use their imagination. Our favorite spot was the space/NASA section

Great for younger kids, up to 10 for sure. My 12 and 14 year olds were not as impressed. The price is great and the staff is awesome.
