Grand kids had a great time me to
Took my students on a field trip. The staff was great with the exception of one directing us to the wrong place. I thought it was for a show when it was for playtime in a gated area. Plenty of staff around to pick up if needed and show my students different things.
An awesome place to bring the kids multiple times. You have to go many times to really appreciate the wide variety of exhibits.
We took our 4 year old today and had a fantastic time. I'd highly recommend this as a family day out! So much for kids to see and do - and lots for adults too. It's fun but also interesting and informative. The only downside is that there's no wifi or cafe. There are some vending machines but I was really wanting a coffee! Plan ahead and bring food. We spent almost 4 hours there and our kid was super engaged the whole time. One of my best museum experiences with him!
This is a neat place to bring your family. Lots of things for kids to touch and play with while they learn. Enlightening exhibits for adults too.
Loved this museum! I don't know who loved it more, me or my toddler son. You do have to pay for kids. Mine is 2 and he had to be paid for, but there was SO MUCH for him to do! Electric trains on a model mountain, a fun kids play area with a nice, clean set up. Pretend grocery store, bus, firetruck, house, pond, and a train table for them to make a train track. Water table, giant bubble wand to stand inside, pulleys, pendulums, music room with walk-on piano, xylophones, drums, laser-string harp, and so much more to explore! The other side has fossils, ancient artifacts, stuffed animals in a realistic environment, a humpback whale skull, and a cast of the mammoth fossil that was found near Waco. Bathrooms were clean, gift shop was nice, but the snack shop was a vending machine. No worries, we always pack our own snacks. I would gladly visit again. I wish there were more places like this. A++
Awesome experience for "Out of Towners" especially if you have younger (3-10) year old children.
Fun Texas history museum with lots of hands on activities for kids!
We went for the Titanic exhibit that was on display and had a great time. The museum offers many great discovery centers for kids, local history and displays. It's a great way to spend the afternoon. We went for the one exhibit and our kids, 13 and 10, wanted to visit the rest of the museum. They enjoyed it. There is an outdoor village to explore as well.
My kids would go every day if they could. Try the new froyo machine on the 2nd floor. It's vet good.
It's a beautiful museum but it's not really what we expected. But the outdoor village is a must see!!
Very nice museum for an afternoon out with the family! Even though our son is 12, he still enjoyed the rooms upstairs geared more for younger kids.
Visited a while back. I thought the Titanic exhibit could have had more things. Be aware, if your visit coincides with a university game, your schedule will get changed.
A lot of fun for kids and families to visit.
Fun and lot's of variety. We were disappointed at the number of exhibits that were broken and missing pieces. Not worth the drive.
Always love this museum! Awesome traveling exhibits as well as the permanent ones.
Kids had so much fun!
I enjoyed the time spent quickly browsing through the museum,,, It was more for the kids then for myself But Nonetheless I enjoyed the experience provided!!! If you haven't seen it yet I recommend taking a look!
This museum rocks! We are definitely coming back. Everything is kept clean and in good shape. So much to see, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to have fun and explore it all.
Been once that's all it takes. Have kids? They have loads of interaction rooms.
The children's area was wonderful. It was divided into many rooms so you could go to one that was less crowded.
Had lots of fun was pretty busy when we went lots of kids with no supervision but still had a great time
We had planned a day of visits to places we remembered and frequently visited as our kids were growing up in Waco, Tx. Going back to a slower pace and less stressful environment was a welcome invite. The Mayborn is situated within the beautifully landscaped and planned Baylor University Campus and easily accessible to all. The cost to enter is very affordable for the visit and the informative experience you and your family will enjoy. Put it on the schedule of attractions to see while in Waco.
Amazing museum here in Waco. Very cool mammoth display. Really cool to see all the local finds.
The traveling exhibit is good each time they change it out. The rest of the 1st floor is great, as well. But the 2nd floor is completely for kids, which is absolutely FANTASTIC! We go to the museum weekly, as they have a great membership.
I absolutely had a blast with my kids and my daddy and his wife and kids there is so much to do in there and the kids stayed interested the whole time friendly staff great exhibits. I will definitely be going back very soon!
Wow. I find the numerous 5 star reviews for this museum totally fake and possibly paid for. I am from another state. I was driving on April 11th towards Waco and saw a billboard on the freeway advertising the ERIC CARLE exhibit. As a K teacher who has 25 Carle books at least which I use in my classroom, I was excited! I go and pay admission and find 3 Eric Carle items in the gift shop. The actual Eric Carle exhibit was a big ZERO!!! I was expecting ORIGINAL Eric Carle artwork, a display with numerous photos and videos explaining how Eric Carle came up with his ideas, and how he created his art and books. A poster listing all his books. The brochure claims "there is a gallery of prints of Eric Carle." Baloney- they were like 4 color xerox copies straight out of his book on the wall with tiny "reproduction" on them! There were a few kids' tables with some tissue paper to made art, and then there was a stuffed plant on the floor that kids were stomping on. That was the entire "exhibit!" Shame on this museum for this very lame exhibit- especially considering Eric Carle is still alive. He would be stunned how terrible it was and a total lack of information and actual merchandise to buy!!!!!! I'm just sorry I forgot to take a photo of the lame Eric Carle Exhibit to post here and warn others- it is NOT worth coming here at all for Eric Carle! The rest of the museum was weak also. I only liked the mini mammoth skeleton and whale skull (were these reproductions also?). The outside old houses were just "ok"- and I give it a 1 star for that.
So much history within the walls of this museum. It was fun learning. The 2nd floor was a great hands on learning experience!
Cool experience. We're from Houston, I think it's better than the Houston, Children's museum.
This is a great museum for sure exhibits. The rest of the museum is good, just a little small so the price seems high. For kids though it's amazing, tons of stuff to do and at least double the size of the adult stuff. Just went for the Titanic exhibit. It is worth the trip.
Fantastic, modern museum on the Baylor campus with interactive exhibits for visitors from young to old. Really affordable as well at $8 for adults and $6 for children (12 and younger). The mammoth dig site recreation is very realistic and check out the village behind the museum for a glimpse of life a century ago.
I wish I could have seen more of it, I went with a kindergarten class. It was great for the kids!
Absolutely loved this place! Definitely a great place to take the family!
We had so much fun
Great place to spend the afternoon.
My babies loved it! There was so much for them to do and it kept the babies busy for hours. Plus all the staff was so wonderful to help out with my littles.
Love the place they're really nice and friendly
Amazing museum. Can't wait to go back
A great place to take younger kids. I've been coming here for a very long time, and a lot of the exhibits are missing pieces that they once had, and I understand that wear-and-tear is a big factor to that, but I'm a little disappointed because this was where I went with my dad nearly every month when I was younger. The special exhibit about space was rather disappointing, I thought it'd be more about rocket science. Turns out thst exhibit was a recorded launch in a separate hall. My favorite part of the museum, where the animals once resided, was closed for construction. I look forward to seeing the ecology hall once it's done, but for the time being, I give the museum three stars. A lot has changed, not neccesarily for the better. Again, a lot for younger kids to enjoy here.
The newest exhibit on space travel is great for children ages 9-14 (middle school). As always the volunteers and workers are friendly and knowledgeable.
We loved the Mayborn Museum. It's fun and educational for every age. So many interesting and beautiful exhibits. We came for the NASA exhibit and found so much more. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the cost was low. I highly recommend this museum. We are a homeschooling family and have visited many museums over the years and this is our favorite.
Enjoyed a great experience here with my teenage boys. Loved the Titanic exhibit and the outdoor buildings. Would definitely return, lots to see!
We came for the Space-X exhibit, but really enjoyed the astronaut training simulators! Decent natural history exhibits for a smaller city. The light & sound and other 2nd floor attractions were really engaging and entertaining, specially for kids. Friendly staff.
My grandson and I enjoyed our time there was fun and educational staff was very pleasant. We will be back.
The museum was really cool, but it didn't have a coherent theme. You will find a bunch of random exhibits here. The interactive children's section of the museum is a lot of fun.
Absolutely love it! We're members and if you live in waco and have young kids, you should definitely be a member too! There are so many things to do, you could easily spend a day here. They have a small place with tables where we sometimes eat a picnic lunch. They lend you strollers if you forget yours! An absolute must visit if you're a tourist!
Honestly, I had more fun in the kids section than I did in the other parts. Lots of fun interactive exhibits. My favorite is trying to enclose yourself (or someone else) in a giant soap bubble. The adult exhibits are cool too. They have a mammoth exhibit as well as sea life exhibits. The old buildings out back are fun to walk through.
Great place to take the kids. Lots of fun activities for the kids
Wonderful for kids of all ages! There are so many things to see and do here, including rotating exhibits. For young ones (0-5), there is the a play area specifically dedicated for them. It includes a grocery store (complete with food items and shopping carts), a “dock” and boat where little ones can “fish” with magnetic fishing poles and fish, a school bus and fire truck to “drive”, a food truck, a play home, and more! For older ones, there are many rooms and exhibits that cater to many different interests. There’s a water/bubble room, a tea party room, a music room, live animal exhibits, outdoor historic village, theater, and more. If you’re a local with children (or even grandchildren), the membership is totally worth it. If you’re not a local, this is still a great place to take the kiddos for a fun afternoon.
Nice museum. Very clean and a wonderful helpful staff. We enjoyed our time here.
There's always something new to learn. Something for kids off all ages. Even the grown up ones...
Great place to take the kids !!!! Clean staff friendly.
My husband and I went here for date night to see the Titanic exhibit. It was incredible and humbling to see so many artifacts that were at the bottom of the sea for so many years. I loved getting a boarding pass upon entry which had the name of a passenger and a little of their background. At the end we found out if they lived or died (mine lived but she lost everyone traveling with her
Its really cool to see everything they have there. It is decently priced and decent prices on the gift shop. Definitely will go again
We have so much fun there
Was honestly a lot of fun and very detailed for it's size.
It's a fun little museum. Definitely worth checking out
We love coming here!! We visit every month for new experiences!
Great place to entertain the kids while being in the air conditioning. My wife, 2 daughter's and I cost $28 to get in, we spent several hours exploring. Ground floor has a display room that changes every 1-3 months, currently it is a space exploration area. Learn about space, fly missions on interactive setups and such. Lots of cool odds & ends oddities, fossils and a mock up of the mammoth dig site. The different environment you go through have area specific computers set up and as you learn you get scrambled letters. At the end off you can unscramble the secret word you get a prize at the giftshop. The upstairs area is an imaginative playground. A dress up area, tea party area places conduct basic science experiments. Setups with water, air flow, sound vibrations, light refraction....all and all a great way to learn & play. Gift shop at the exit, plenty of clean bathrooms available and again entertainment in the AC.
What a cool play to take my kiddos to! We loved loved loved it!
Had maps and outside a little picnic area for you to eat at, was very clean and very kid friendly.
Loved the village outside. Definitely need to check it out if you haven't yet
Awesome Museum here in Waco! A good size to spend an 1hour or so and not get tired, plus the area is right behind the Brazos River walk paths/ BU stadium! Very pretty and there is a Titanic Exhibit until Jan 6. Also other areas for kids, highly recommend! Additional fee for special exhibits. Cool gift shop too.
It is a great children's museum. We go all the time
The kids and I came here with friends. We didn't even have time to see the whole museum, but what we saw was great. The kids enjoyed the computer games in each room and had a great time exploring. We saw the Eric Carle display (more geared toward little ones), the mammoth replica, a giant whale skull, a cave replica, a woodland area, and some different types of homes before heading outside to the historic village. The village was truly excellent for kids, with lots of interactive opportunities. They took turns pumping water and trying to carry it on a yolk; they rang the church bell, played the piano, and gave sermons; they ground coffee and played checkers at the commissary; they tried rolling hoops, ring toss, and lawn bowling; and they attempted household chores with the butter churn, wringer washer, and clothesline. And of course they thought the (non functional) outhouse was hilarious. We spent two hours roaming around without ever getting to the museum's upstairs. As a bonus, all the kids got in free because they had just earned Jr. Ranger badges at the mammoth site. Even without that, the price is reasonable and the parking is free. Our crew ranged from K-4th grade, and all had a good time. Definitely a worthwhile outing!
I toured the Titanic Exhibition at the Mayborn. It was awesome but very sad at the same time. Definitely worth seeing
Well designed small museum featuring traveling exhibit, excellent archaeological section with dinosaur bones, fossils, models, historical village, also fun discovery area upstairs for kids. Lots of hands-on experiences, lots of interesting scientific and historical inormation.
Nice place to visit. Really clean and well done. Great for kids and adults. Definately will come back.
Love ,love ,love this place! I take my daughter a few times a year. Very affordable. The traveling museum section is always fun. The upstairs is dedicated to children. Very educational. The store has loads of stuff. U can get a few little toys or items for about $10 . They also have some pricey stuff but great quality. Staff very nice.
As a group, we were given a great introduction of the history of the museum and pictorial tour of the archives along with hands on displays
This place is primarily for little children, adults MAY have some fun but not so much. I did learn a thing or two about the history of the Waco area.
I had an afternoon to spend with two energetic and inquisitive children, and we had a BLAST at the Mayborn Museum. We were truly amazed at the exhibits as well as the play area. At first, they were apprehensive about the exhibits, but after conversation and discussion about what they see in textbooks, the relevancy caught and held their attention. The youngest loved the village and being a "helper." The play area is an early childhood educator's dream! I would love to see a Pre-K/Early Childhood Center replicate this area. It is a great sensory and therapy area! This is definitely one of Waco's many hidden gems.
Great educational place for children. Our kids love it. Prices to get in are reasonable. Staff keeps the place clean and picked up.
This is by far the best museum that I have ever visited. Lots of hands on learning a d extremely kid friendly.
They change what they have displayed ever so often so it doesn’t get boring and it’s a great family friendly place. There are some things that didn’t really work anymore that should probably be fixed but the kids still had fun
Best way to spend your money and time on your kiddos!! Always new experiences/ exhibits. The kids always have a good time.
Very hands on for kids! Lots of fun!
interactives, space exhibit. kids stayed engaged and learned had a fun afternoon.
We had a blast so much for kids including preschoolers to do. Our 4 year old didn't want to leave. Mayborn Museum is smaller than Fort Worth but it's way BETTER
This place is fun for all ages! Check out the SpaceX display. Remember to stop and get Souvenir at wacos best Museum gift shop!
So much fun and so much to do
Great place for a school field trip. With hands on learning and really nice facility I highly recommend this place!
Took my 2.5 year old and 11m old they both had so much fun. The play area was great. Also the Eric Carle exhibit was very nice.
Family friendly atmosphere. I took my 23 month old granddaughter and she had a fun time interacting with all the exhibits. Will go back again.
Pretty good for kids. Does not have the exhibits from the old Strecker Museum. More of a learn and play setup than a traditional museum.
Lots of great interactive activities for kids and family. Very clean environment and affordable
My kiddo loves this place. Very educational as well.
This place is great for kids. Lots of play rooms that are very educational and super kid friendly. Will definitely take my kids back again!
Absolutely love love love this place for my 2 year old and 8 month old. I go with my nephew's who are also 2 and 6- we all love it! So grateful to have this place within driving distance!
Great museum and the staff is super friendly. I truly enjoyed looking at everything this museum had to offer.
Such a stellar museum for being so small. Kids and adults alike will enjoy!
Fun, staff is friendly, and the volunteer spark carts are fun! Especially the guy with the bugs who is normally there Thursdays.
Small but very good to bring the little ones along
Nice facility with plenty to see. A little advanced for most two year olds. Three would probably be a good age to start.
Awesome place PreK enjoyed it so much!!!
Our girls loved their experience here. They kept asking us to go back the next several days. They have plenty of hands on activities and ways to teach the kids. I would highly recommend going here at any age as it's not directed to any one age group, it has stuff for everyone. Including a very large play area for when the younger kids get tired of the exhibits. The water table was probably one of our girls favorite parts.
Was a nice daytime date with the hubby.
Definitely worth the time and money. Clean, complete and the exhibits work and in good repair. Will visit again.
I went here with my daughters class trip. The exhibits were wonderful and very stimulating for children. All of the students had a great time and the staff was wonderful in assisting all of the classes.
Great museum .something for every one
Always love this place. Been coming here for years
The museum is open at great hours for you to take your kids. I would definitely recommend this museum for your kids.
So much to do! Me and my girls loved it!
It is a great place to take your kids For some interactive learning they change the exhibits regularly as well as college students with an ID get in free overall had a good time
Cabinets of Curiosities are absolutely fascinating.
New to the town and looking for things to do with the kids and this is GREAT! Awesome place to take kids from newborn - pre teen. Lots of history facts, visuals, and hands on learning. Love the hands on learning btw super cute and my kids 3 & under absolutely loved it. They can run around and enjoy the new things in every room. Price isn't bad at all either. Reason I give 4 is some of the buttons for hands on area didn't work or were a little dirty other than that still good shape! Will definitely go again.
This is an awesome place to learn about the history of not only Waco but our entire area. The displays and artifacts are well put together and there are alot of interactive displays. My favorite part however is the activity center where you can take your kids young and old to blow off so.e steam on a cold rainy day. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.
Great museum! Clean, cheap, and fun! All kinds of things to keep the little ones busy :)
This place is awesome, especially the section for the kids. You and your little ones could easily spent a half day here. We visited to see the titanic exhibit , but the kids museum itself was worth the trip.
Great place to take the kids! My wife and I were very impressed by all the educational activities for the little ones. We'll definitely come back
Nice place! Not a ton to engage middle school ages but still a great place to learn. The upstairs exhibits and experiments are geared more for younger (5-8?) kids.
one of the better places to take children and families in Waco lots of cool stuff right now they have a Dora the explorer going on
This place is awesome and inexpensive. I decided to go when babysitting my daughters friends and brought along my other friend and all her kids. Ages 5months to 11 years old, 8 kids total. Every single one had a great time. Including the little ones who just enjoyed looking around. I would recommend this to anyone with children, even us adults had fun. The trip was also very affordable and they offer a military discount!
Love this place and the traveling exhibits! I wish the museum would explain my great-uncle's Pliosaur exhibit, but alas!
The main museum doesn't contain much history. The outside village is small with no entry to some of the buildings. The plus is there are some great hands on displays and play areas for kids.
My grandson love the place.
I have a membership at this museum, have had it for a couple of years. My grand kiddos absolutely love everything about it. Very informative, very good hands on experiences. They have great work shops. My grand daughters absolutely love the tea room! They have a place for kids to sit and have snacks. I can sit on benches and watch them play. And the best thing is that they have different things going on all thru the year. My grandkids have learned so much going there. Great experiences great customer service, great place to go!
Awesome the kids big and small had a blast
My little one always enjoys a trip to this museum. Always clean and organized with lots for the kids to enjoy all day. However given just how geared this museum is for younger children it baffles me as to why it costs more for adults to enter than kids? This can become a fairly expensive trip if multiple adults go.
Affordable and about 3 hours of really good entertainment for young kids. I would recommend it for 4-10 year olds.
Cute place but they have nursing area for moms, great but they dont have an area for changing diapers. Lil backwards to me
Great children's museum. My twins having going there since they were preschoolers and still love it at age 9. Nice mix of natural history, local history of Waco and hands on Science. The animal science are where they use to keep live animals was closed on our most recent visit for renovations. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the update.
Good selection of texas based history. Had a good day of learning things I didn't know about Texas
Lived the Mayborn, but had a little problem finding it on the Baylor campus . Loved the old Texas village on the grounds, and the Museum itself. Got to see several temporary exhibits, including an Antartic photography one, watched a Nat. Geo. film about exploration of the deep ocean, and a wonderful Titanic exhibit. My only caution is to allow a lot of time to enjoy everything. (Some exhibits had separate admission costs in addition to the Museum admission pricing.)
The kids thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. The Mayborn Museum has so many fun activities for kids of all ages. Our favorite was the Eric Carle exhibit.
The top floor was more dedicated to children than the bottom floor. We as adults still had a blast and enjoyed all the rooms. Our 13 and 15 year old enjoyed it as well. The bottom floor was more history and science. We enjoyed this area as well. Great museum to visit for only $8.00 per adult. Children 2-12 are $6.00 A definite must if you are visiting Waco!
I had as much fun as the children
Our family always has a great time here with the different exhibits. It's long enough for our children to enjoy and have a good time without getting bored.
Loved it, my boys had so much fun. We could have spent most of the day exploring!
This museum is a must see !! Massive facility with an entire outdoor pioneer village. Complete with blacksmith, church, school house and everything you'd expect from a small village in those days. You can go inside 99% of the structures and it was amazing. I've never seen such detail and craftsmanship. The inside exhibit is equally mind blowing, ranging from space to Texas wild life to many other things. Great place. It also has a gift shop. Our kids range from 8- 11 and they all enjoyed it. My favorite was the pioneer grocery and goods store.
Such a great place to take the kids to learn and play! The annual pass is very reasonable as well.
An amazing Museum! A a very awesome place to take your kids and great bang for the buck! And my kids learned so much and we all had so much fun!
Went for the Titanic Exhibit. It was a very small exhibit. Nothing like the one in Branson MO. One fossil in the floor for the Mammoths. Some natural history and a gift shop. It took about 30 minutes to an hour to complete the Titanic exhibit.
Awesome place for the kids lots of hands on things for the kids to do
Amazing kids play areas. We spent hours there. Definitely worth every penny. Would love to get passes to go all the time.
Was great for younger kids. Mine were almost 4 and almost 7. Very interactive. Had an interesting space exhibit. For a little older kids. There were several things not working but we still had fun. The village outside was fun. Price is fair. We were there about 4 hours. Great way to spend the afternoon.
Great place for kids of all ages to interact and learn about many topics. Like music, science, art, and trains.
NEVER disappointed with programs. Also, attend group meetings there...quier, roomy and good technical support.
Great place for kids, lots of interactive exhibits to keep kids entertained and learning and they will let you bring food and have places inside and outside for families and groups with tables. The bottom floor is mostly historical exhibits with an area that gets changed out regularly and a indoor kid play area. The second floor has mostly interactive and science based exhibits. Outside has a historic town that also has some interactive activities.
Very kid friendly museum with tons to do and very hands on. Many different types of displays.
Great little museum. The upstairs area has lots of kid-focused activities. I'm not sure how frequently they change the exhibits, but I'm pretty sure the kids would have fun with them even if it's not the first time they've seen it. The 'Be the Astronaut' exhibit is fantastic, though the simulate are a bit difficult for kids.
Great place to take the kids on a rainy day. Plenty of different activities and it can be a learning experience for older children, light, sound, basic demonstrations of pulleys and such along with what ever exhibit is there at the time. All in all a great fun way to spend a rainy day.
So fun! And not bad for prices either, you could spend a whole day playing and learning
So much fun and we didn't even get to see it all. You can spend the whole day here and not get bored. Fun for us grown ups too.
Unless you are between 4 and 10 years of age....SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Fake copy of Mammoth National site.....waste of my time and $$
Cool frozen yogurt machine.
Love this place. Activities for kids and nice exhibits for both. Hands on .
It was great my 2 year old loved it.
