REVIEWS OF Crow Museum of Asian Art IN Texas

Andrew Perkins

Great hidden museum in downtown just across from the Dallas Museum of Art. They have rotating exhibitions and makes a great side trip from the Dallas Museum of Art. Very impressed with Dallas Arts District.

Sydney brainard

free museum. underling some renovation now 2108-. beautiful choice asian art and artifacts from private collections. rotating exhibits.

Jonathan Griffin

It's a small exhibit, so I wouldn't make a trip out of my way, but if you're around the arts district and haven't been, it's worth spending at least 15-20 minutes. Very clean, friendly staff. Awesome samurai armor and elephant tusk carving.

James Tech

Great, small museum and collection. Well done, great exhibits, and you can see it all in a day.

Cyndy Powell

Attended event #utd50, beautiful art and building, certainly will return and spend more time.

Sophie Mcjimson

Small collection of art but it's really nice.

Jason P Cargill

This is such a beautiful museum! Located downtown, within walking distance of other museums and a park. It's so wonderful to walk through this place. Lots of history and very interesting information as well. If you love beautiful art, this is well worth a visit. It never seems to be crowded either.

frank janeczek

Nice gallery. The exhibition on contemporary ceramic art was very good.

Tim Johnson

This place was a great place to take the kids. Very clean. Beautiful scenery.

Ben Parker

This place was dope! We were on our way out of town having been there on vacation. My fiance suggested we stop by after seeing a billboard as we were leaving town. I semi reluctantly agreed and we took the short (but took a long time) detour. After walking around blocks in the cold lost at where to find an entrance we were told the clamor through a construction zone to our final destination. It was all worth it! From the exhibits to the architecture of the building itself I was stunned. I had no idea there were works of art that ate that detailed, and that old. I've never seen jade sculptures of such fine craftsmanship. I came away with a new appreciation for the Asian arts.

Sheri LeNoir

Super cool art, Asian style architecture inside and outstanding exhibits. Bigger than it looks

Judy Maldonado

Absolutely TERRIBLE SERVICE from ANDREW the Security Manager. It had just started to pour rain so I walked in there quickly to wait a few min for it to go away. I asked Andrew if it was ok for me to wait there (by the door) until it stops a bit, that way I’m able to walk to my work building. He was very rude and said “you can wait outside” when I mentioned that he was being rude/unprofessional, he laughed. I will not be returning as long as that rude man Andrew is there and I will definitely advise colleagues and friends not to as well. That man requires proper training for social skills.

CoUnTrY Kay

Loved it. So very beautiful

Laurie Tabbakh

Nice place.

Corey Colding

This museum teaches those who want to learn more in-depth about the dynamics of Asian culture.

Jeff Otken

Beautiful displays of Asian art. A great place to visit for any lovers of art and culture.

Jose Baylon

We had fun at one of their events for kids. They organized several activities for the families and the entrance was free. Lovely museum!

Honest Reviewer

A great place to spend a weekend afternoon. It has some of the most unique and informative exhibits.

Toran Lyt

Really great collection, especially for a free museum! Definitely head upstairs to see the lacquer and jade pieces. Absolutely beautiful!

Terry Daniel

Great place to go and see and experience a bit of Asian culture - they even allowed my daughter's Japanese Akita service dog to enter

Es P.

It was free, and the lady at the front was very nice, held our drinks for us, and told us the best route to see the museum. In addition to that, they've got some really cool art there and the interior design really compliments the pieces.

Mauricio Molina

Lovely place with a small but excellent collection... free admission and very helpful staff... too bad the third floor was closed for an upcoming exhibit ... loved the samurai armor and the landscape paintings... don't miss it

Mr Moody

Awesome displays

misunderstood & misinformed

I love First Saturdays where parents can bring their children and particapte in arts and crafts and other fun activities.

Taye Woodard

Great exhibits every time I go and my family loves this museum. I have been bringing 3 generations of children to the Crow museum and they still get excited

Andrew Williams

Free! A limited but very interesting permanent collection with a constantly changing exhibitions. Employees/docents are excellent. Great gift shop with interesting items everyone can afford.

Quete Importa

I liked the museum. It held beautiful pottery, dishes, and other beautiful art pieces from multiple Asian countries.

John Babiarz

Wonderful place! Very quiet today(Friday) Amazing, detailed art

Michael Thai

Lovely little asian exhibit, cant wait to see them expand out more.

Luis 83

Its nice

ShadowSiren88

Its free but not very big, still a fun quick date idea

Tom Gatermann

The Crow Collection of Asian Art was one of the surprise findings on our trip to Dallas. The museum isn't very large, but has a great collection of pieces. If you want to read the information plates for each art piece you can probably make your way through the museum in under two hours. We spent about an hour there strolling around. I actually visited the museum twice while in Dallas, once with my daughter and then again when we brought my wife there to see the collection. The museum is also free, but does appreciate donations.

Darryl Parker

This was my visit to the museum and I really enjoyed my experience. I love history and art and this truly gave me a deeper view into Asian culture and history. This is a free museum, which is unbelievable given the high quality of the museum.

Pushpalata Desai

Amazing beautiful and neatly maintained

Marie Green-Ylui

Pretty interesting museum worth to see. Gift shop was extremely expensive

Debasis Shee

Nice place to see and know about asian history

Melissa Wilkerson

They are currently renovating the museum, so most of the collection was closed when I went. But what is open is still beautiful. Currently the Korean pottery and the samurai Armour exhibits are the only ones open. It is right next to the DMA, so it's worth it to stop by after your DMA visit and see the samuri Armour.

Jamahl Jackson

Great place

Brian Michael

Small but exquisite gallery, certainly worth the time

Maurice Carter

A gem with varying exhibits. All eastern civilizations are represented. On one of many visits, we watched Budist monks creating a Mandela.

DANTE DANESI

Very nice

Savannah S.

There were renovations and it was a little small. But it was free and very enjoyable :)

kyle honea

Highly advised, especially if you have a serious interest in asian artifacts. Nothing but high quality pieces here. It's a family friendly environment as well and never too crowded or anything like that. The fact that it is indeed "free" makes it all the more enjoyable.

Heather Myers

Great museum and free!

Mary Braden

Great works, nice atmosphere.

Steve Koch

Awesome art in a beautiful setting!

k meadows

Free museum with outstanding exhibits. Excellent community events and classes.

Sam Shah

This place is awesome! Total hidden gem, and way more worthwhile than the Dallas Museum of Art nearby. It's free, has excellent staff and some really cool pieces. The only drawback is that it's fairly small and most of the exhibits above the ground floor are closed.

BK Patel

Awsome place

Ethan Kunz

This place is very cool. While not massive, it does contain some highly detailed, historic, and interesting pieces all the way from antiquity to contemporary. When renovations are done I'll have to visit again to see what additions there are

Danielle B

A great collection of Asian art, I thought the scrolls were beautiful! It's a fun free thing to do, though donations are accepted. A heads up, no selfie sticks! (Yes they actually tell you that!)

Michael Cornelius

A wide array of Asian art, both traditional and surprising.

Autumn Tutson

It's a beautiful museum with gorgeous pieces of art! I absolutely love it!

LaDebb82

So much culture pack into such a small place. Really enjoyed myself, great atmosphere ans staff.

Jamie Nichols

Really enjoyed the exhibit, especially the jadeite and ceramics. It might have been nice to have a different piece representing Shen Long (is his name really the same as the spirit dragon?), than a few mass produced Bowie knives with what appears to be scribbles with a an engraving tool. Not the best first impression of an artist.

Curtis Baker

Definitely worth it if you have any interest in Asian art of any variety. Varied exhibits in a well laid out space.

Karla Smith

When all of the exhibits reopen I'll give 5 stars

Nawaal Akhwand

i love volunteering here because everyone is always so nice! i also love just visiting because the art pieces are really interesting to see. great place.

Jeramy Woodrow

I love this museum! They also do yoga here, and the staff are all very friendly. Be sure to checkout the Tibetan book covers, and the full Samurai suite!

Luis Araujo

A Rare & Beautiful Museum in Downtown Dallas that is Free to the Public.

Ryan Parr

Within quick walking distance from DMA and across the street from Nasher sculpture (which costs $10,) and just like DMA it is entirely free, so theirs really no excuse not to. You basically start at the samurai armor and walk around, and up the stairs, making your way to a large cloth tapestry exhibit, and then down the stairs to more of the same, to then exit with the option of buying something from the gift shop such as matcha tea and the usual variety of ceramics. Some parking meters are accessible near this area, and both the Crow Museum and Nasher will take approximately 1 hour if you are diligent with time, though a safe bet is 2 hours if you were to rush through some of the DMA, where it might be much easier to park at and not worry about a parking meter (if you are willing to cross traffic these are usually an option.)

Ashley Humbert

Beautiful location, very clean. The Jade exhibit is absolutely stunning! The museum itself is a bit small, but is a perfect stop on a tour through the Dallas museum district. Admission is free, and is well worth a visit.

Rachel Presley

We visited for Chinese New year and I have to tell you they put on an amazing display so much information for the kids so much beautiful arts interactive exhibits I would absolutely come back again!!

Shannon Taylor

Cool little spot if you're into Asian culture and want to see a lot of cool artwork and some notes on heritage. There is a nice store at the end of the tour too that has a lot of unique gift ideas.

I Go By Many Names

We loved all the art work inside.

Brian England

Was disappointed when only two small rooms are open for Korean pottery and one Samurai uniform. Once renovation is completed will go back to see

EXPRECDJ

Beautiful art from all over Asia, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and impeccably maintained galleries. Calm, relaxing atmosphere and lovely garden for catching a breath of fresh air and conversation on the upper level. Highly recommended.

Sridhar Srinivasan

Small Good Museum..

Jonathan McClure

Going into the museum with open expectations, I initially expected the area to be small and confined to a single room. I was greatly surprised to find that the building had multiple floors, each focusing on different aspects of Asian culture. The best part of the museum, by far, was the fact they currently had actual Tibetan Monks in residency; and guests were not only invited to come observe religious practices, but also to interact with the monks and learn about their believes, and homelands.

Vicente H.

It is free...what more can I say

Marie Stawarz

Really beautiful little collection hidden away. It's several stories tall, but still pretty small. They have some nice stuff for kids and rotating collections. Entrance was donation based the last few times I stopped in. Really a great little place to visit!

Casey Bauer

The museum itself is gorgeous and very well maintained. The staff are professional and always polite. They also offer a wide variety of classes and special exhibits that will entertain everyone!

Maria Rosenberg

This was another nice museum to go to that was also free and got you out of the Texas heat. I loved each piece was displayed nicely with a label of description or what it's made from a the period it came from. Tower 1 was definitely the better side. My only downside of this one is we felt a bit harassed by the monitors. They made us feel like we were kids that didn't know how to behave or were going to steal or touch something. It just felt we were specifically targeted for no reason when all we were doing was looking at and reading each piece. Besides that I did really enjoyed reading and learning how each piece was made and all of the beautiful details of each piece.

Kerry Bradley

Another free museum in downtown Dallas. It has some beautiful Chinese chests, jade carvings, and other artwork. I was hoping for Japanese artwork but did not find any. The area has construction work in progress so it is a little difficult to walk around especially if you have a cane or walker.

Dan Garcia

Beautiful art gallery

Ana Hurtado

Everything was very interesting and cool

David Newton

This is a very nice museum with lots of interesting art. The gift shop contains a vast selection of beautiful tea sets as well.

Angela Orange

Beautiful art work , one of the cool things about this building while walking on your romantic night u can still enjoy the art wrk even though the building is closed it's really neat.

Duane Johnson

Nice collection of Asian Art. It's a nice compliment to the museums around it like the Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Garden.

Sweta Tamrakar

Small but good museum. Just beside Dallas art museum

Derek Heaton

I was really impressed with the collection here. Nice way to spend an hour or two.

Cyrus Baty

The Crow is a small museum with a wonderful collection of Jade and Lacquer. On the lower level the exhibitions change regularly as do those on the mezzanine. There are a mixture of modern works and objects from the extensive collection. Some of the jade is breathtaking and beautifully displayed. The added bonus is the extensive and well stocked museum shop.

alan wright

The jewel of Dallas IMHO. Very friendly and welcoming which isn't true for all museums. Great hands-on art programming for all ages. My daughter years later still remembers hwr first yoga class and sidewalk mandala drawing. Will always return.

Marie France Janelle

Nice museum.

Neo Chingdao

Amazing Bodhisattva. Would return to and would recommend to anyone who is interested and admires Asian culture.

Aaron Con

Very beautiful. Amazing pieces.

Vivek Virani

This is one of my favorite places in Dallas! It's not very big; you can easily see the whole museum in an hour or two. But almost EVERY piece in the museum is exquisite and absolutely worth seeing. It's one of the only museums that makes me actually take my time appreciating every little thing. The Art of Lacquer and Jacob Hashimoto exhibits they have right now are particularly beautiful!

Richard Schmidt

Cool spot

Seth Daniels

Crow Museum of Asian Art is amazing and must be in a bucket list of every tourist in Dallas! Every piece of art is simply adorable, excellent and certainly worth seeing!

Chrisrina Madera

The crow museum is a hidden gem in Dallas, often over looked by museum goers headed next door to the Nasher and DMA. If you're in the area take the time to stop at the Crow! It has great exhibits, a wonderfully preserved collection, and pieces that you can't see anywhere else. Be sure to walk down the street a bit to their gift shop too, because they sell all kinds of goodies there including relatively cheap pieces by their up and coming artists in residence!

L H

I always visit Nasher, DMA, and this place in one trip. Artwork, porcelains, and sculptures found here have different style and quality from other places. I love the variety of art style I can find in Dallas area. I highly recommend you to come in and spend some time. Some areas in this museum might be closed and be reopened later, so check with their schedules as well. As long as I remember entry is free and you can take photographs in here as well.

Derik Hayenga

A very special little museum. Always free...always excellent curation. This would be a great quick stop for travelers with children. Small enough to keep them interested....interesting enough to make everyone think in a broader way.

Srini Seetharahm

The majority of the museum was closed during our visit. Two galleries were open. One on Korean pottery and the second (much smaller) on Japanese samurai gear and art. Both exhibits were a pleasure to view. I wish more of the museum was open. Hopefully soon.....

Collette Portis

This museum is beautiful. The history and knowledge of the staff is astounding. A must see. You'll learn so much.

Eric Garza

Really nice museum, plus it's free.

Sabrina Blackstone

Went to the New year celebration. It was mostly just a 0ver priced block sale. I'm hoping it got better after I left. Their lines for everything were super log

Hooper Brown

Enjoyed this little museum

Scott Graham

Great Asian art, most heavily Japanese influemced

Jennie Wilkison

This place was so amazing. Staff was friendly. Beautiful art pieces.

Marilyn Summers

Big surprises does come in small packages! Even though Crow Collection is one the smallest museums I have been, it also has one of the finest Asian art collection I have seen. The Dallas Museum of Art is right around the corner if you want to hit two birds with one stone and save on parking.

Ney Co

A beautiful display of art. Could be a little more interesting.

Cody Vineyard

It's free, but donations are always accepted. The staff was friendly and they have a good amount of art in the museum.

Gabe Borscheid

Free and very impressive Asian art

Victoria Garza

Beautiful art exhibits. however the lighting in the Japanese art area did hurt my eyes.

A J

Absolutely amazing museum. It's free admission (they do take donations) They are actually celebrating their 20th year anniversary this year. They always have great events as well. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable. Will be back for more events.

Veronika Lysenko

Only 2 small exhibits open. The whole building is under construction. The exhibits are free however, and you can get a map of the downtown there. The front door lady was very nice.

Spring Foster

This place is kind of astonishing, in the Dallas Art District, quiet atmosphere thorough dimmed lights.

Michelle Joseph

This place was really nice and friendly, I really enjoyed my stay, it was free for admission but did take tips, loved that concept. All in all, I had a great time learning about some of Chinese culture like in the Qing dynasty and Confucius

Keelie Reason

I liked this museum. It took us about an hour to go through it all. There is a gift shop at the end that is nice to look around in also. It's great because it is so close to the other museums. We walked to one from there.

Karin R

This is a small gem, often overlooked! The most impressive are the intricately carved stones, wood and broidery - very small details! This last time we were impressed with a big Cristal Ball that was actually a clear see-through rock, through which you could see someone standing behind, as an inverted image.

Kelly Sills

Such a beautiful place.... definitely will be coming again soon.

Kenneth Adams

The newly redesigned Crow Museum is amazing! The interior details are stunning. I think the coolest and most beautiful installation is actually in the gift shop. Above the tea station is a recess area with over four hundred paper tessellations folded by Paper For Water and designed Russian origami artist Ekaterina Lukasheva. Check it out.

Katherine Angell

I brought my daughter here for an exhibit and it was wonderful! The pieces are amazing and I love how they had a children’s event. The wonderful woman doing henna was such a joy to speak with and all the little girls were loving how elaborate and detailed she was doing everyone’s henna. It was a wonderful experience.

Rick Debus

The collection was fairly good. A few interesting pieces. Disappointed on the size of the collection and ages of the pieces. For chinese art anything less than 1000's years old is considered new. We need some new rich Dallas Billionaires donating to this place.

sumi yi

Hope they have more variety of collections. Still it was nice to see that they are trying.

Marie Reed

Great free museum but I did wish there was more to see. Granted, they are undergoing renovations that will be completed in spring 2018, so if you have a choice in the matter, definitely check it out then!

Joshua Adams

An excellent small museum on Asian art. My wife and I went while visiting family and had a wonderful and intellectually stimulating visit.

TigerPaw kat

Free visit on Sunday and we had a blast! Very few people besides us but we absolutely enjoyed our selves, especially outside in their sculpture garden!

Brenda McKinney

Love the Crow Collection. They always have amazing art in their Mezzanine level

pixel eight

This place is small, but it houses some amazing stuff! The exhibits change, so it's always fun to go back and see something new. Sometimes, there even are interactive exhibits. Plus it's air conditioned and FREE!

Angela VonSchmittou

Their hours changed so we showed up about 30 minutes before closing, but we still had time to go through the museum. One floor was closed for renovations, so I took my time on the first floor while my kids and husband rushed through the first and third floors. In 30 minutes, I got to read most of the plaques for the items on the first floor, which was Japanese art. The employees were very friendly and it was free to get in. So, even though the museum is small, it is a must-see and good experience.

Nnenna Umelloh

I'm so excited for the renovations to be done! I like the layout of the museum. The layout makes sense and it makes it easier to appreciate the art. I also like the section where you get to make art. It's more interactive. The gift shop is also really nice. I appreciate that the museum is also free! I love that!

Thomas Davis

There is hardly any variety to the works on the museum. Most of the art is just a different version of something else in the museum, but the historical details they give are interesting and help visitors understand the Asian cultures.

Chip Linck Griffin

Used to be my favorite museum in Dallas, but with 30.06 posted, I can't legally go in. So, my patronage and my donations go elsewhere now.

andrew leu

good art selection that highlights asian cultures. really enjoyed my time there. nice saturday chill spot

Aleks Prosken

Amazing and beautiful museum. Definitely a most visit in Dallas!!

Leighton Luckey

Great free museum with many interesting pieces that change exhibits often enough.

Meeraj Khan

Asia.. that's a such a small word for a great continent. Love how they always have deep new exhibits. Donations are accepted.

Olivia Underwood

Lovely arrangement of a beautiful collection of asain art

Lawrence Ross

While it was under renovation, the quality of the exhibits was outstanding. More than just a museum, the informational callouts and detailed information allow you to tie what you see into the history of the country they highlight, giving it more relevance.

Jacob Ira Anderson

With the renovations, there really isn't a lot there. I'll admit it was interesting, but wait until they open the upper level back up

Miste Anders

This is one of my favorite museums. It is by donation and the staff is very welcoming.

James Eriksen

Some insanely intricate lacquer and stonework! Take pictures (no flash) because you'll never get all the details at first glance! (No cost for admission)

Keith Mankin

Recently renovated, the crow is a gem. The collection is being reshuffled as the renovations are counting, but that on display is always stirring and thought provoking, ranging across all of Asia and ancient to modern. The new gift shop is a work of art itself. The museum sponsors a wide range of activities, from lectures and films to holiday festivals and even Tai Chi classes. I still think the museum could benefit from a cafe. Hopefully the new plans will accommodate one. Even without, this is one of the best attractions that the Art District has to offer.

Ashish Gupta

Very small but nice collection of Asian art. Two thirds is for temporary exhibit and three rest is a permanent exhibit. Takes about half an hour for a visit. Free.

Richard Haight

Great artwork, but currently a lot of construction going on.

Kal Elsehsah

Great museum to visit but it needs more information and audio along with each piece of art. This place is a treasure.

Terry Wint Jr

Saw a neat show right outside, haven't been inside yet. Will update review when I visit.

Sean hue

Good place to get a piece of mind

Ray Chen

Small but unique.

Ramon Dunphy

Nice collection!!! The building is beautifully designed and the art collection on display is also very good with a wide variety of artists and styles displayed.

Roman Campoz

Great place

Joshua B.

Great museum, free to get in.

Deirdre Buchanan

A really gorgeous, well curated museum. It was larger than I was expecting, and I love that it is always free. It's a great way to spend an hour or two in downtown Dallas!

Dan Nordmann

I go every few years and it's such a beautiful little gem in downtown Dallas. The relatively new gift shop is a nice addition. They have a notable selection of tea pot sets. As for the museum itself it's not very big and one can take in the whole place comfortably in about an hour or so. The standout piece is this rather large facade of sandlewood if I remember correctly. A stunning fixture that is about 25 ft wide and 15 ft tall. It's housed in a hall of sorts which is used for regular gatherings like meditation and the such. So glad we have this place here in Dallas.

Mike Roberts

A great small museum with lots of interesting and beautiful items. Well maintained and laid out. You can explore the museum and view all of the exhibits in less than two hours.

Robin De Hoyos

Went here by accident one day while in the downtown area. It's a really cool place that has tons of Asian art. Just a great place to relax or to take pictures of all the great architecture and art there. Highly recommend.

Cam Jackson

Calling the Crow collection one of Dallas's best kept secrets doesn't quite feel right. Maybe under appreciated might be a better phrasing. It is an impressive collection and is getting more and more of its due as the rest of the arts district continues to expand. I definitely recommend it.
