REVIEWS OF Cavanaugh Flight Museum IN Texas

April M

We had an awesome time! I highly recommend it! Great for adults and kids!

Leon Medado

Despite the small overall size, this museum still features a fascinating variety of exhibits. The interior aircraft are visually pristine and many are still functional. The descriptions in particular are very detailed and well written. This compensated for the lack of official guides during my visit.

Sam OS

Nice place, I wish there is indoor plane ride, at least for taking photos

Kassandra Acuña

This museum is awesome! Anyone that appreciates history and airplanes needs to visit! We went during the Warbirds Over Addison weekend and got to see visiting planes as well! You’re even able to schedule a ride in one of the Warbirds! The staff was all friendly and knowledgeable as well! Take the kids and make it a day!

Nelson Futrell

Really cool place to take the kids. Many hangers to walk through and see a lot of different types of planes and other vehicles from different parts of history. They also have a nice art museum in the main building. They offer rides in some of the planes for a cost ofcourse and they also do private parties for birthdays. My two daughters really enjoyed the museum and they got to see a plan being worked on while it was running and the wings being folded up. Good times well spent.

Anthony Wilson

Great place to see some amazing planes!

Sheahan Nariman

Amazing collection of planes. Call a week ahead to get a ride

Rod Tyson

Great display. Well presented and excellent information. How Aboot That was the best.

Noah Chung

Lots of planes, not much to do.

Javier Sanchez Babe

Awesome and great rides on biplane

JCF

If you are interested in flight, this is the place. Plus they offer the opportunity to actually ride in a variety of aircraft.

James Henningson

Great collection, usually has a Groupon running for discount entry too.

Benjamin Durham

Really nice self guided museum. You can get right up close to the planes and helicopters. There are 4 indoor hangars and one outside section. I highly recommend going! I could easily spend 1-2 hours there, if not more.

Andreas Vlahinos

Nice collection of planes

Casey Williams

I recently bought my mom an airplane ride for her birthday and we were able to go up in an open cockpit biplane. It was an amazing experience! The flight was great, smooth and the pilot was exceptional. We were comfortable and had a great flight. I recommend a visit and a flight.

Vyper Droid

When i saw this in my maps i just had to check this place out. I'm from Colorado and the air museum near me doesn't have the birds they have here. The legendary P-51, Me 109 and a Mitchell B-25. These were the birds i wanted to see and it has become a dream come true. As a teen I've always loved reading about WWII air combat. Wishing i lived in one of these hangers.

Alpha Bravo

Although slow to reply at first, it then more than exceeded my expectations in terms of friendliness of the staff, helpfulness to schedule a flight in their wonderful Stearman, the exhibits on site. It would be nice to be able to get closer to the airplanes, some are tucked away behind others and it's really difficult to see anything significant then.

Nathan Miller

I love military hardware and planes so I obviously enjoyed this. Four hangers of restored aircraft, many of which were specifically used in combat. The details for each one with its individual serial number are given on plaques. The veteran working as a volunteer was very helpful, answered tons of my questions, and knew so much about every piece on display. Highly recommend. I may go again if the opportunity arrises.

Pratheeba Shyam kumar

This musuem is amazing. Museum has collection of several still flying war time air plane .And the entry ticket is also not expensive.

DJ Cook

A wonderful museum with 4 hangars filled with aviation history as well as some outdoor displays.

Heather Cherwinski

It was so exciting to see all of the planes and learn so much history. Go on a fall day not in the summer, most of the museum is outside.

Frank Dieterich

A nice collection of military aircraft. A must for aviation enthusiasts

Sabrina Miller

Great place. They offer a variety of planes for all to see. They even offer rides if interested. Great day museum for the whole family.

Raymond Logan

A lot of very nice planes well presented very good description of planes

Lawrence Tucker

Excellent displays of aircrafts related to wars during aviation era. Very educational for both children and adults alike

Taylor Mayfield

I'm definitely coming back here again. And I don't even live in Dallas. They even offer rides in multiple planes!

David Gumm

I've been to the Cavanaugh several times, and is always great. You could spend hours here looking at the details or just brows through at your own pace. A lot of cool and historic aircraft, parts, and memorabilia to see.

Marcia Whyte

Nice displays. No air conditioning in hangers. Great fall activity

Brian Strutton

Great time. Very educational and inexpensive. 4 hangers of planes and a few planes outside

Steve Gee

One of the finest private collections of warbirds in the USA. Give yourself at least two hours to see it all. If you're really adventurous, book a ride in one of the museum's flying vintage trainers like their Stearman or the T-6 "Texan." (Ask for Kevin and tell him you want the "roll straps." He'll know who sent you.)

George Paul

Great American aviation heritage. If you have knowledge about aviation then you will really enjoy the museum. Museum provides aircraft restoration, operates and maintains flying aircraft collections. It has collection of war planes of various wars

Ellen Dash

Our first time at this museum, and we were able to book a fantastic talk about the B25 bomber. Our docent, David Serpas, was a veteran who knew his stuff, was fun to listen to, and incredibly patient with the kids, encouraging their interest and questions. He really made our experience great! The rest of the museum is varied, well kept, and has informative signs for a self-guided tour. Other docents were readily available and willing to answer any questions.

William Kenny

Awesome place to see history and introduce our young ones to the world of aviation.

Caio Braga

Great museum and some great aircraft on display.

Doug Zoltar

Beautiful collection of planes (and more) and amazingly well maintained. Nice folks as well.

Deepak Gupta

Liked it here. Didn’t take any ride but planning to have one during the next visit.

M Brown

Lots of fun for the whole family! We enjoyed the museum and all the terrific exhibits. The docents were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were told about this museum by a docent at the Frontiers of Flight museum, and it was terrific! It's much smaller, but the exhibits are much more accessible and feel more vital. You can, for a admittedly large cost, actually FLY in some of the exhibits. The cost in scope with the prices of fuel, maintenance, and insurance are actually quite reasonable, but if you aren't aware of those factors, it can be pretty surprising- don't get the kids hopes up, you DO have to be 18 years old to fly. Oh, and if you're a Pokemon Go player, there are plenty of stops within and around the museum, lol.

Pasha Fadel

small and horrible customer service but had a great variety of aircraft to look at and learn the history about

Mark

We planned for 2 hours at this museum. 4 hours later we realized we had to head home for dinner. This was an absolutely amazing museum with beautiful aircraft that range from WW I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Cold War. Most aircraft are restorations and have an amazing story and history behind them. The staff are extremely helpful and go out of their way to answer any questions you may have. We had the fortune of running into a Vietnam vet named Bob who gave us a personal tour of the original aircraft he flew during the war. The stories he had are something I will always remember. I gurentee the people who have complained it's a "small" museum didn't realize there's a door in the main hanger that leads outside to THREE other giant hangers full of aircraft and even a tank! If you are interested in history, aviation, or just looking for something new. This is the place to go. Enjoy!

Stephen Cahill

The planes are in great condition, but the informational side of things is pretty lacking. The placards for each plane are very detailed, but they are isolated bits of information that don't mean much unless you understand the larger context.

Joel Oommen

Had a good time visiting this place with my family. Staffs were so welcoming and helpful. We learned a lot and had a great experience. Will definitely go again :)

CaptMcDreamy

Good place to spend if you are an aviation lover, but its not too big. They do offer vintage aircraft rides

Justin R.

We had a great father's day outing!

Sarah Greene

Went here with friends while attending a car show in one of the hangers, the history of flight, particularly military is at the forefront, they offer rides in vintage military aircraft and offer a lot of narrative of each particular aircraft

Andrew Rossetti

Great value and a underrated part of DFW

Marc Kalaf

Absolutely a must see.such a great place to visit.the folks are doing a great job.

Glenn Carter

Although I have been here several times, this time my kids bought me a ride in a T-6 for Christmas. I literally cannot say enough good about these guys. The experience was nothing short of amazing. The crew went well out of their way to make it a terrific experience, reassuring my wife that I would make it back alive, explaining the process and history of the aircraft, and showing general hospitality that was above and beyond. My pilot also went above and beyond to make my experience fun. He did an amazing job of piloting the aircraft while tending to my experience as well. Top notch piloting! As for the facility and displays, the place is immaculate. The displays are clean and well arranged and it is really noteworthy how nice the aircraft look. A good variety of types that offer a highlight of military aviation. Well done guys, well done.

Dan Haefs

Always a great place to visit!

Steve Reyes

The entrance $ 12 and no tour guide. Gift shop over priced.

Michele Williams

love this museum

Kevin Keitch

An excellent collection of aircraft, military memorabilia, and aviation art. My family has visited many times.

terri kamphouse

Small but packed with the most impressive collection of several still flying war time air plane collection I have ever seen. Nothing like seeing a Mustang or a Course air start up and take flight right in front of you. I love this place, not to mention they have a very cool little car and art collection.

Adam M

Very neat collection of aircraft. You can even ride in some of them!

Rob Garrett

A slice of important history not to be forgotten. Every visit helps preserve it.

Michael M

I liked the museum. I was disappointed that we weren't told about annual membership. When I inquired I was told I had to call in on Tuesday and maybe someone could help me. Maybe someone should call me instead.

Michael Ference

Amazing collection, must see.

Mitch Gray

Great place to see vintage fighter planes and memorabilia. Hats off to corporate chopper pilot Eric for sharing his time with us explaining helicopter controls.

Linda Cahoon

My dad is 90 and he loves airplanes. He really enjoyed his grand daughters taking him. His friend him have built an airplane from a kit in NC and they have flown it. Thanks for having this museum

DJ Olvera

I've been to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in DC and the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson and Cavanaugh does not compare in the number of displays of these others but its not a bad place to visit

Steve Richards

Thanks for letting me have a close up look of the UH34

Bryan Button

A very nice museum with a large number of actual flying examples! Also has a good sized collection of paintings in the gallery. Only place I have seen a B-25H.

John Kelley

Great museum! Tons of planes with a great write up of each one. Kids loved it as well.

Ian Mattingly

Wonderful collection of flying warbirds!

Jeanne Morales

Great collection of aircraft. Rides available on certain historical planes.

Elmer Saunders

It's been a while since visiting this flight museum and it's likely we (my grandkids and I) will try to go back this summer. Excellent display of vintage aircraft as well as other military gear. My grandson was thrilled to be allowed "behind the ropes" to closely inspect - and touch - a T34 tank that was being restored, and the workshop is certainly impressive. The fact there are so many restorations ongoing and that a significant number of aircraft are air-worthy highlights the commitment of a lot of contributors.

Channing Ramos

Lots of very nice pieces in the collection. Worth a visit for aviation buffs.

sophia barakat

We went to the flight muesum with a friend while he did his acrobatic plane ride. Everything from the staff, the hangers, the planes, were awesome! David was our tour guide while our friend was in the air, and he did an amazing job! Answered all our questions, took us on a tour of Addison Airport and even let us take a quick fun picture in the helicopter! I will definitely be back and will refer for friend and family in the future. Such a nice treat!

Ellen Moreno

Love all the History, years ago we got to meet Charles Bond there so cool! Love to stories from WWII. Great place to take the kids for some history lessons.

Anton Sal

Awesome museum, first time seeing the B-25 with 75mm cannon, Mig-21 and the star of the show for me was the Yak-3

Shawn Holcomb

Went for a wedding, which was good. Unique setting but I wouldn't return on my own accord.

Rex Griffin

Small Quant historic

Chris Joles

They did a fantastic job with our cub scout pack, very well run with a ton of great insight!

Ryan Northcutt

What a great venue for businesses hosting events, or general public use for aviation enthusiasts alike. They have some well kept machines and history there. I want to go back and spend more time there!

A.J. Surprenant

Visiting with a friend of ours

Chris Huzzard

Excellent collection. Was fortunate enough to join a free tour being conducted by David, a volunteer. Extremely instructive and friendly.

Kyle HMMLM

The best Flight Museum in Dallas.

Sreedhar MedaraMetla

Leslie Mansker

Husband and son in law were happy with the variety of planes.

ANKIT ARORA

Good old planes and wonderful cars

Mitchell DuRant

They've got a ton of cool old warplanes.

James McMullen

An excellent resource for aircraft enthusiasts. Planes from WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam; western Allies and Axis,Soviet bloc. Perfectly restored and displayed. The placards give a detailed history of the model, and in some cases the combat history of that specimen. Worth another visit.

Monique Ross

This is a great place to host an event. If your seeking different, but nice...choose this place. This place was exciting 4 an open house. One pic I posted was just set up, which was quiet, but once the guests came in...the party was on with a wonderful live army tank attraction (firing of the tank guns). Awesome.

Cyrus Baty

Took my 9 yr old son to the museum. He's as much a history buff as I am so he thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It's a little smaller than the Frontiers of Flight museum in Dallas, but it does offer more military aircraft. We enjoyed our tour and took several photos to record our visit as one of the summer activities we enjoyed together. I'd recommend a visit to the museum if you enjoy learning about history and your looking for something to do without spending too much time or money. Also be sure to spend some time in the art gallery, as that is a unique display that isn't readily available at other more high profile museums (i.e. Smithsonian). One thing I do recommend, especially if you aren't local to DFW, is that in the summer plan your visit in the morning as much of the displays are outside, so the Texas summer heat can be miserable for out of state visitors.

Richard Koeininger

If you love airplanes or history or both! You are missing out on a hidden gem. This is a beautiful And lovingly taken care of group of proud warbirds. They have some rarities here, such as the ME-109 HE-111 and their Battle of Britain adversary, a Spitfire! There are too many planes to list here. If like me you like military warplanes from around the world, this will give you chills.

Scott Mertz

Great planes. Really enjoyed the trip.

Diana Guthrie

To see a history of aviation - military and otherwise - was amazing! My 16-year-old nephew thoroughly enjoyed the experience. To see and touch planes that actually flew missions during WWII was incredible!

Sailesh K S Kumar

Awesome WW2 aircrafts!

Jess Barnum

Loved coming to the museum. Lots of cool planes and so much history. Definitely will come back again.

Samantha Huckabay

I LOVE the planes, wow I love them. I wish the Cavanaugh Flight Museum had more people interested in it or was in a more high traffic's area. It seems like it could benefit from some modernizatio of its lobby areas and gift shop, but all around a wonderful and beautiful tribute to the history of modern aviation.

Dennis Koniecki

A cool enough place to spend a couple of hours looking at old airplanes. Not quite as cool as the museum at Love Field, in my opinion, but definitely cool enough. Especially if you like war planes. Or you have a few thousand dollars to blow for a 30 minute ride I a jet or stunt plane.

Yonatan Zur

Great little museum. Lots of interesting aircraft from WW1 till the 70'-80'. Definitely worth a visit if around.

Srikanth Bezawada

All aircrafts are restored and maintained well at display. Nice place to visit. Takes 1-2 hours depending on your pace to finish all the 4 hangars (No AC) and the art gallery(AC). Friendly staff at reception. They offer rides in various aircrafts.

El Ortiz

Good visit, low on things to see but worth the stop.

Dustin Moorman

Had a great time there with my son, nephew, and grandfather. A wonderful collection of many different war planes. A real showcase of technology and history. We were there for at least two hours and could have stayed much longer. I would love to go back and take time to really see the story of each aircraft. Extremely glad we took the time to stop by and visit.

Kyrsten Carlson

With four hangers filled up, there's so much to see. This was my second time here and I enjoyed seeing everything again. Really great place for history and airplane buffs.

Kellye Tallent

Pretty cool place. Loved knowing I have the option to come back and be flown around in one of these amazing pieces of history!

charlie williams

Take an informative walk back in time thru aviation history. Great place to educate the young. ✈️

Sean J

Fun history

Raymond Caldwell

This was a birthday party for 2 amazing little boys who love airplanes...this old man is going to back to see the planes that were gone to amaze those not near this museum. The Spitfire is worth the visit.

Mike Tillman

Living history that young and older alike can experience first hand..

Natasha Bailey

This is a fantastic place for everyone from airplane buffs to anyone generally interested in seeing some cool machines up close. It was easy to find and parking was readily available right next to the entrance. The layout is very efficient so there is not much walking.

Richard Mandel

Cavanaugh is great! I strongly encourage everyone to visit. They offer rides in many historic aircraft. The guy who does them on Sundays, when I was there, is great.

Brian Ruddick

This is a great place to check out if you love aviation. A fantastic collection of static models, engines, memorabilia, and general aviation nut stuff. Plus you have the fun of not knowing what may show up when you're there as the rest of the CAF frequents regularly.

Karen Songer

Love spending time here!

Robert Woodward

Great selection of classic war planes in working order. Small facility but plenty to see.

Michael Johnson

Awesome museum. A lot of planes in excellent condition. Wow.

Amber Parker

This museum was so much fun for my boyfriend and I. There are four hangars full of WW1 and WW2 planes and detailed information for each one. Our guide, David, was very helpful and made the experience better all around. We got to see two of the planes there take off and an "unofficial" tour of Addison airport. We are coming back with his kids soon because it was so fun and enjoyable (and super affordable). Definitely recommend if you are in the area and want to see some pieces of history or just like to look at airplanes.

Bradley Howerton

Excellent selection of classic military trainer and combat aircraft. Very helpful service. I also love how they restore and maintain all of the aircraft that they have there in an effort to preserve U.S. and World Aviation history. The prices to enter are very fair for all the cool stuff you get to see and they even offer a discount for military. All around would recommend to any history or aviation buff.

Najavano P

The good place to learn about the world war planes

Diane Maupin

Always great

Alex Mueller

One of my favorite places in the metroplex. Very reasonably priced with special pricing during events regularly, and photography packages that include access to special events and shows. Excellent selection of aircraft from across the past century and very well kept. Often there are special guest appearances from other museums. They also offer rides for an additional charge or for parties. Speaking of which, you can host your next party there and get access into and onto a couple machines. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and even insiders will gladly share great experiences with you. The facilities are clean and we'll maintained. Hangars stay pretty cool even in the summer, but there's a couple AC'd sitting rooms for a respite from the heat. Great place for a casual, educational visit. Just returned from a 5th visit and will visit many more times in the future. See my photos for an idea of the selection of flying machines and more you'll find.

LEVENTE KUSAI

Free cool museum it's great to see historical planes live in Texas. I highly recommend going here and next time I go I'm going to pay $90 for a military helicopter ride!

Kim Miller

My sister and I really enjoyed visiting the museum today. Our docent Dave was full of information and gave us a great tour. I'd definitely go back!

Jake DeWolf

My Favorite Museum in the DFW area! Everyone is so nice and very helpful!

Sophie Xu

Nice place! My kid really like this place!

MrYokk

If you love old war planes this is the place. Restored pieces of history that still fly. The art gallery is amazing to look at with each painting or picture the signatures of the pilots who flew them.

Michael S

Really amazing display of aircraft. Such a nice museum.

Melody Leclair

Very nice, lots of interesting information.

Nelly Naff

Very fun and awesome planes

Runay Hollis

sean holekamp

It was a cool place to see the planes of different wars and see a few cars. It was very educational.

Nuala Taylor

Incredible museum of Aviation! Decided to go on a whim and enjoyed the entire ordeal.

Stephen Prentice

This place is a must do for anyone interested in aircraft. I've been several times and simply love their static displays and the events they put on several times a year.

Robin Neeper

Have always loved this museum. It is so clean and the planes are all flyable.

Tx904

Fantastic Museum. 4 hangars and tons of fighter and bomber planes. Great sight for any enthusiast. Has placards for every plane with history and spec details.

Lisi Curley

The museum is great... but they are not very good with their customer service. I wanted to have my wedding there and I called several times, send emails and even showed up there to try to talk so somebody, left my contact info with the person on the counter. All this was within the last 4 weeks and this is the time that I haven't received any information from them...if they are like this to get business, I cant imagine how they would actually be once you hire them. Not worth the headache for my wedding.

Dave Morgan

Very nice museum. Beautiful condition aircraft...especially the P-51 and B-25!

Antonio mendoza

Great ! For a litle time to start my day visiting the city

Adrian Garcia

Small place. Needs more planes. Cool place to bring big kids.

Marlin Willesen

With over 50 military aircraft and half still flying the Cavanaugh Flight Museum is one of the premier warbird museums in the country. The best part is they offer rides every day but major holidays. It's a must visit for big kids and little ones.

Brad Monson

Amazing displays restored beautifully with extensive history of each. The gallery is an amazing walk through history. I highly recommend this place!

Shan Morton

I thought this was a great place to visit! Lots of planes to see and read about. Since it is in a hanger and some of the planes are outside, go when the weather is cooler or earlier in the day. For only $10/adult, this is a very nice place where an airplane enthusiasts can geek out a little bit. I thought the ladies at the desk were very pleasant and welcoming. I'd go again when it's cooler, (visited in Sept when Dallas is still HOT) and hope to go again soon. It's a little gem in the middle of the metroMESS called Dallas!

V. Kerrigan

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great place to visit no matter ones age.

Megan Doyle

Great museum to learn more about military flight history.

Bradley Smith

Great place for a kids party! Plenty of exploring space with vintage history all around.

Weston Wheeler

Awesome museum with tons of restored planes. Easily the best flight museum in Dallas.

Edward Russell

I stopped here last Friday after a meeting. The museum is very nice with a lot of great vintage aircraft. They include: F-4, F9F-2, P-51, Avenger, Wildcat, AT-6, B-25, P-40, AD Skyraider, F-105, F-86, Mig-17, Mig-15, Huey, S-2 Tracker, Yak-3 and many more. One of the hangars is full of mechanics working on planes. Lots of good stuff to see.

Linda Bartholomew

Open House tonight was fantastic. Cavanaugh Flight Museum is a spectacular place to have an event no matter what size or type. The caterers have delicious food and entertainment is a big hit also.

Tim Eads

This is a great place to visit

Clarence Fountain

Mighty Proud.... Great planes. I Own a Stinson 108 N 97214. I Restored in Gilmer. Fox Stevens Field. East Texas

Daniel Long

Fantastic collection of WW2 aircraft, the majority of which they keep operational and fully functioning. 4 hangars house these marvelous machines in addition to many parked around the grounds outside. The amount of care and restorative work that they put into their aircraft is top notch! The art gallery is just as impressive as the many displays in the hangars. Each time our family goes, we see something new. A marvelous preservation of history and a wonderful memorial to all those who put their lives on the line for us. A "must see" if you are ever in the area.

Mark Lange

Awesomeness this place just rocks! If you like planes then you must stop here!

Aishwarya Venkat

I'm from India and I happened to visit the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, two weeks ago. I spent a couple of hours at the museum and must say that they have a fine set of exhibits which included a few planes from the First and Second World Wars and a few modern jet types as well. The staff were kind and extra helpful. In short, it was a great experience.

Matthew Bryan

Amazing learning experience for all ages. Some the most well kept airplanes I have ever seen.

Brandon Brown

I had a great time. Front desk agent was very helpful.

Chase Flory

A lot bigger than it looks! Awesome aircraft's on display!

Quinta Caylor

My boyfriend is so into airplanes, aeronautics and stuff like that. We had fun here. It was a really great and informational outing. We didn't go when tour guides were available (which is on weekends, I believe), but I think we had more fun going at our own pace. Will be back!

Katherine Clark

The staff was SO friendly and HELPFUL! We were able to view a plane my dad a crew chief for in Vietnam. Made our day! Thank you :-) Great collection of military aircraft from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and Korea.

Jessica Hill

Nice place. Enjoyed the history and air planes.

Chad Lorenc

Has the history behind the equipment, pretty cool.

Anthony Pegues

Very Nice!! Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, the aircraft are well maintained and nicely displayed with a very nice variety

Rosa Weaver

Very informative.

Tod Lewis

The first time I was to this Air Museum was approximately 20 years ago. I was very much saddened to see that the artwork that was displayed with all the famous pilots and air Aces signatures is starting to fade. This is a very sad thing to have happened as some of these Pilots are icons in the aviation and military communities not to mention I think these same pieces of art would be Priceless to own. I was however glad to see that they had expanded the museum and Incorporated more airplanes.

john ousby

My 10 yr old nephew loved this place. Great collection of War planes from the 20th century. The volunteer staff were amazing, thanks David and Douglas, you made my nephew's day!

Gerald Reuben

A good collection of WW planes. Needs interactive sessions or walks. Maybe student volunteers, I don't know if they will be interested. I heard there are drone related activities.

Jennifer Lewis

Expect it to be hot in the summer, there are several hangers to visit with lots of aircraft to see. The art section is in AC and there's a small seating area in AC as well. I love that the aircraft are in good condition with engines still present. No covers blocking your view (like most museums).
