REVIEWS OF The Children’s Museum of the Upstate IN South Carolina

Lydia Surrett

The whole family loves this place and it is definitely worth the cost of the membership since it is a great rainy day option!

christian peralta

Great place for kids! My child enjoyed it and place is kept clean for the kids.

Amy Hanley

Very disappointed in the number of activities that were broken or closed. The website recommends for ages 1-15. There really wasn't much of interest to my 13 and 15 year olds. My 8 year old enjoyed himself on the working activities, but we will not return.

John Zuber

Nice place to take the kids for a day off fun and learning.

Robert Bryant

Wonderful place to go with young ones. Plenty to so there including birthday parties... Would recommend getting there with lots of time it plan to come back again soon

Gerriann Koch

Fun for all ages! The toys could use a little sprucing up but overall it was a blast and definitely worth the money.

Clarice Montgomery

The kids enjoy being able to touch and play with the exhibits.

Bubba Bagwell

Great place for our family of 4 kids. We purchased the membership and we can take our kids whenever and they all have a fantastic time. Our kids range from 12 to 5 and they all find something to do.

Cliff Plunk III

Excellent for children! Lots of interesting and fun things to do!

William Hand

A delightful place to take your kids. Lots of hands-on activities, craft work areas, educational immersion areas and an outdoor jungle-gym to burn off energy. Worth the visit!

Bridget Chandler

This is a great place with lots of stuff to do for children of multiple ages and it was reasonably priced

Brittany Staples

A bit pricey, but my child has tons of fun. if we didn't have to accommodate nap time, we definitely would of spent more time their and gotten more out of our money spent. There's so much to do with 3 floors of activities.

Nikki Palmer

It was nice and the kids look like they are having fun.

Linnea Lee Wallace /Gonzalez

Its so must fun \(ϋ)/♩andthe kids loved it .

Susan Freaney

Love this place. The kids can play for hours and hours inside and outdoors in the play area

Julie Stokes

We took the kids here for a day of birthday fun. They loved it. Storytime and more included. They should not have things out of order tho that are included in the entrance price. There was about 4 different attractions that were closed down. Other than that I would have given 5 stars!

Stacey Longmire

The zoo is nice. It's not super big, so the family can go through in an hour or so. It has a couple of small playgrounds inside. If your child is super friendly, like mine, the workers will take the time to talk to your child and explain what they are doing and why. There's also a playground outside of the zoo and the Eagle Trail and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I've gone to the zoo, had a picnic, and then walked a trail with the family.

Daniel Lockhart

My family and kids love the Museum. I like how they have visitor displays. It keeps things fresh and interesting

Samantha Nelson

Absolutely amazing place! We will definitely be there again!! My son had the best time.

Tracey Robinson

My Grandbaby & I had a blast here, 3 floors of fun! We were there for 3 hours! So many activities to do! There's the Supermarket, the Teddy bear Clinic, the race car, the farm, the house, the construction zone, the space-vehicles used on Mars. In all these areas, the children learn how things work! It is Awesome!!

Cheryl Sosbee

My Grandkids had a great time and loved the scavenger hunt..... Will be on next visit list.....

Steve Mathison

My little guy had so much fun with all the interactive displays they have for children and he's 2

Rausheed Legrand

It's was great for me and my family.

james butler

I didn't think much of the idea of going here, my grandsons wanted too go ,but anyway we went and I'm glad we did. I would recommend it!

Tina Arledge

If you haven't taken your children here then it's your loss. This is the most incredible place I have ever seen for children to learn so much. It amzed me as an adult. Well worth the money.

Jennifer R

I have been here on two separate occasions and I have to say that the experience was enlightening. Oh, how I wish we would have had something like this when I was a child. This is a wonderful place to bring any child.

Staci Young

So much to do. Kids loved it.

Adam McCary

Awesome museum! I bought year passes when we moved to the area and we utilized them often. They have a grab and go food selection (sandwiches and drinks and snacks) and an area you can sit and eat downstairs. There's also a really fun indoor water feature, music room, outdoor play area and alll kinds of museum fun! They have regular activities and feature exhibits. Certainly keeps the kids attention and excitement. Highly recommend!!!

corinthia fowler-gault

Truly a spectacular place to visit. A must to take children grown-ups will be envious because they didn't have this when we were kids

Stephanie Simpson

Incredible science museum! There are 2 playgrounds (indoor and outdoor), water play for different ages, a crafting and art area, and so much more. One of the best science centers I've visited!

Robert Kerlin

Absolutely love this place. Fun, safe, and not expensive. Drop a toddler off in the entrance and you get to chase them for hours as they go from room to room and get more excited every one. There's even painting and drawing and music rooms, and a ton of different events every week. Every time someone with kids comes to visit we bring them here and they have a great time.

Sandra Markovich

Be prepared to spend all day! There is so much to see between the three floors! Very clean, very happy staff and only found a few exhibits out of order!

Emily Collins

The new toddler area farm upstairs is fantastic! My 1.5 year old loves coming here!

Oliver Cedeño

My son loved this place! Definitely see my family coming here more often.

Corbin Brooks

My daughter had a great time. I was more impressed than I thought I would be. Definitely recommend.

Pedro Aponte

Lots of fun, interactive exhibits for the kids. I had fun as an adult.

Joshua Hudson

5 yr old loves it everytime we go. He always has a blast

Katrina Selby

We spent 3 hours here & the kids still weren't ready to leave. Very nicely done with lots of hands on activities

Super Tired Super Mom

Kids had a blast. A lot of cool and fun interactive sites to see. :)

Cory Green

Not a ton to do, and not many places to sit down. But it's very entertaining for the kids. Go here when you have an idea of something you want the kids to learn. Otherwise you'll be running around getting wore out.

Daven Hunsicker

This was my first time going. We took our entire second grade for a field trip. We had a great time, and the staff was friendly and courteous.

Lindsay Sanford

Could spend all day here and not see every exhibit. It's big enough that even if it's busy you aren't tripping over people or waiting to try something. My kids love every minute they spend at the children's museum. Will definitely be back again and again!

James Fountain

This place is amazing! There are so many interactive exhibits for a variety of ages, as well as the big central play scaffolding that my son spent 45 minutes clambering around in. Lots of arts and crafts activities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Greenville cultural complex this facility is a part of also has a library, museum, theater. This will be a return trip for my family for sure.

Wilson McMahon

My 3year old was just too busy with everything and the giant light brite on the wall on the third floor brought back my own memories of good times as a kid!

Jackie L

Great value and very clean.

Louis M

This children's museum seems like it's three times the size of the one in Houston. I really wanted to give it five stars. I just couldn't because at least 15% of the exhibits were in disrepair. If it was just a few items, I understand, this place is huge and it's amazing. . . But too many items didn't work... My kids still had a fabulous time which is why it still gets four stars.

Kara Cruz

My sister and brother in law took us here when visiting from out of state with my then five and six year old. We all had a blast. This museum has a little of everything for all ages. We found ourselves learning new things and playing right alot with the children. Will definately be back in the future now that the girls are older and I have a one year old.

Jennifer Castillo

Love this place great educational spot for children.

Dhruven Parikh

Kids had a great time and learned a lot! Only downside was they said the outside playground was closed due to weather but the weather was actually good that day. They also don't have any on site food options but I believe they are working on it. Overall definitely recommended for the family. Just bring your own food or snacks. They do have a place where you can sit and eat (the food you brought)

Julie James

My kid loves all the activities. Best for children 3 and up.

Teneshia Williams

Took my son here for his birthday with a friend, they loved it!! The staff was super friendly and helpful!!

Christine Petro

I love this place. There is so much to do and see it takes hours to see it all. I also love that they change the exhibits so there is always something new.

Jay Weaver

This is a great place to take your children or grandchildren on a rainy day or any day really, we always love to take our grandchildren when they come to town. there’s so much to do for all age children from toddlers through early teens. we love the science, anatomy, learning experiences that are available the children’s museum always does a great job with their services.

Samantha Rude

Wonderful experience! Always a must see when visiting South Carolina.

Anthony Waugh

Great fun for kids. Stayed ovwr two hours and still didnt get to do everything.

Sarah Hamilton Hathcock

Fantastic children's museum! The adults had fun with the kids!

desmond witherspoon

One of the best children's museum I've ever visited. There's a huge space center simulator. Outside is a playground that my child climbed until he passed out tired. I was jealous. Definitely worth a visit.

Ray Conway

Great learning place for children of ALL AGES!

Louise Ochart

We love TCMU. We have been taking my kido since he was 3 he is now 5. There is something for older and younger kids alike. The chaning exhibit is hit or miss. This current one (Dinos) is a bit of a miss with my kid as there is not alot of interaction but older kids may enjoy. The new farm area is lovely. Story time is always fun and my kid could spend most of the day in Bibs world.

Tiffany Wilcox

There are so many activities to partake in, we just had to do them all!!! ❤️ Had a blast with my babygirl, and will definitely come back for a visit. I like that they had special areas for toddlers to play in also, although my daughter was too old for them, it was nice to see them have something fun for all ages. I love how they make education fun, in activities you can participate in. Hands on is the coolest way to learn, in my opinion. Check this place out, if you happen to have $20-$30 to spend on a fun, all day educational activity.

Adelle Cloutier

The area was clean and the children had lots of fun. The store was especially fun! The inside playground was a lot fun. We were disappointed with some of the sections that didn't have working parts. The magnetic crane, the tic tac toe robot, the astronaut video machine was very difficult and not sure if it was connected to have child work it. The lab was cute - yet no direction as to how to make project even thought there were two volunteers behind counter. The gravity/air ball area was confusing to learn without instruction. The bank didn't have all the money or props for other activities. The studio and art sections closed at 4pm. The outdoor playground was close despite a beautiful day. The water area was VERY wet with puddles and a child slipped and fell.

Charles Griffin

Great place for parents to take young children. Loads of fun activities!

Christopher Chapman

Lots of things to do for young kids. Lots of young kids for young kids to play me. Hard to beat for the price of admission.

Helen Wray

Lots of interactive, engaging, and fun activities for (mostly) all ages. We love the outdoor playground and the water toys on the floor level. Be prepared to pay for parking as there are not many free options close by.

Melissa Schillinger

This museum is a perfect size for families wanting to spend up to a few hours with toddlers to elementary aged kids. The exhibits are diverse and interactive. The museum is clean and tidy. Our kids love the huge climbing structure found in the center of the museum- kids can plan and parents can take a load off for a bit.

Michael Flynn

Great place, but a few of the exhibits seemed to be broken or partially broken.

Jeannie Crawford

This is an amazing place for the family to have a blast!! Very clean, educational and fun! My granddaughter visits a few days Imes a year and I could take her here every day for the week she stays. The exhibits are interesting, and even geared so that the younger crowed (she's 3) can enjoy. I highly recommend to visit!

Diana Richardson

I brought my 11, 10 and 8 year old here. There was a lot for them to do, as well as many things aimed at the toddler age. I was disappointed that many spaces were closed while we were there, so we didn’t get to experience everything - they are only open for a portion of the time the museum is open. They have a big playground that’s fenced in outside. I didn’t see anything on their website about selling food, but the do have a cafe. We didn’t bring food because it said so outside food was allowed, but there were plenty of people that had brought their own.

Stephanie Shook

Awesome place then if you're low income like have EBT or Medicaid you get in for $3 vs $10 this. Kids have loads of fun and lots to do

David T

I’ve read some negative reviews about this place. Yeah some of the exhibits didn’t work but if you want something indoors to entertain your 5 year old for a few hours this place is hard to beat.

MsD Jones

Both of my granddaughters had a ball this is one of the largest ones that I know of bigger than the one in Columbia South Carolina they had a great experience all together loved it

C S

Find the secret keypad hidden in the breezeway and enter Google code *AE46FD7# and behold the magical laser light show and interactive digital presentation outlining the virtual treasure hunt which eventually lead to the magical entrance to Greenville's beat kept secret: Take the subway train to the casino or the aquarium, your choice! Fun and excitement for all!

J Kelley

My 7 yr old and I had a great time spending the afternoon here. Fun activities, attentive staff, clean. There were 2 field trips with older kids when we arrived and the place was messy from activity. I told a staff member about a few issues and she called someone to take care of them right away.

Chelsey Leopard

We had a blast at the Childrens museum. Was excited to get invited for a birthday party! So many fun things to do. Our daughter had an amazing time learning and playing with each activity. We werent able to get outside on the play ground but we will be back to try it

Diane T

A great place to entertain and educate kids and adults too.

Oliver Rudolph

One thing has to be made very clear in the beginning: it is NOT a museum in the stricter sense. What the community established here, however, is impressive and - from what I understood - is in place since long now: the former public library was moved out of this location into a new building next doors and the interior was thus remodeled to become a large indoor playground for kids of about 1-10 years of age. Various different themes are presented such as farmland, dinosaurs, construction sites, space or race cars. All in all, on rainy or simply too hot days, when you're close to downtown, make a break here! Your kids will love it and we had a hard time to make them leave after 5 hours of playing, and we still did not see everything. The reason for 4 stars is the obvious wear and tear that you can see in some of the equipment and especially so in the absolute empty and loveless arrangement of the cafeteria space downstairs. It could be a financial issue though. Thumbs up and I hope you'll be there over the next years that we are in the area!

Ryan Green

We love this place we became members this year so we could come more often and learn more

Tony Goehring

This place is a absolute joy to be in for kids and adults. They have 3 different floors of exhibits and toys for kids with lots of learning interaction. They also have exibits that change and they bring in new ones. This place is an amazing choice for a day with the family

Genita Jackson

3 levels of fun. You can spend hours in here and the kids will be entertained.

Christina Trotter

We loved the hands on activites and areas. Very engaging and educational. Our four year old devoured the entire experience. A whole lot of science, music, mechanics and math embedded in all that play. Great place to take toddlers and preschoolers and even older kids.

James Gunn

We were surprised. What appears to be a small building on the outside turned to be three floors of kids-entertaining-goodness. The themes are well organized and made for an entertaining afternoon on a rainy day. Parking is available on site, but if you are staying downtown, it is quick walk to the museum.

Genesis Spratt

Go here. Take your kids. Take your adult friends. Take your parents. Take EVERYONE! This place is HUGE! And the amount of hands on stuff is just incredible! We visited over thanksgiving with our two boys and one set of grandparents. It was a big hit. We're only sad there's nothing similar to this place close to where we live up north! Almost purchased a membership just to use when we visit the grandparents!

Keisha Hayes

This was a great visit with the kids. The best part is that this museum is hands. The kids can touch everything. The have music, grocery store so the kids can play shop, a few water activities and sooo much more.

Charles Sweeney

Our grandchildren really enjoy this place. There are lots of fun things for them to do that also provides a learning experience.

Vinnie Dugan

My daughter really enjoyed this place. So much cool stuff to do and see, totally worth the price of admission.

Jimmy White

Had a great time but could use more hands-on things

Hillary Padilla

The only reason not 5 stars is because I feel like some areas should be monitored like the "Publix" shopping areas, there were a couple of kids who walked off with all of the play money and it just lessens the fun for the other kids who are playing.

john Perry

Had fun great place to bring your kids Made me feel way younger

Shakeyra gilbert

My kids loved it ❤️

Victoria Nuda

I have volunteered at another location in VA and upon visiting with my 8 y/o neice, we both agreed this was definitely more awesome.

Emily H

My son has so much fun every time we visit. There is so much to do to keep him occupied that it seems he finds something new every time we come. There is something for all ages so my 8 month old can enjoy our visits as well.

Heather Heidt

We went for the "Rising Kindergartners event". It was such a blessing, and so much fun!

Caitlin Parker

Had a blast! Definitely a place for the kids, but get ready... They're going to be so excited! There's so much to do, fun for all levels, and something new around every corner.

Heather Hofmeier

Absolutely loved this museum. My daughter and I took my grandson there and we all had a blast. We were there for five hours and looked at every exhibit. The only bad part was the cafeteria. It was just vending machines and some sandwiches, but no condiments or plastic utensils to eat with. This was not a big deal considering how much fun we had.

WayneAndCourtney Roper

Great place for the kids and whole family, handicap accessible, military discounts, senior discounts, show your ebt card and admission is only $3 per person. Awesome way to spend an afternoon with the family in an educational environment. We love it here.

Sara Parker

This place was great! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because some of the stations could be so much more interactive with some thought. They are great the way they are but they could be spectacular with a little more creativity.

Loretta Divine

Fun place for families. My grandkids especially love the water room. Like the new healthy cafe.

A Google User

The kids love coming here but I notice a lot of things in the museum just don't work. Kids will just move to another activity but with the cost to come and the cost to purchase anything it's ridiculous! But if you want a kid's opinion they'd love the place.

drk1368

We go here constantly! Our son loves it and spends hours at a time playing and learning

mikey wilson

We had a great time. It wasn't too packed so there was plenty of time at each station for the little ones. Also they were offering a discount to evacuees, which was an awesome bonus.

Teresa Pressley

Lots of fun for toddlers, little pricey though

Max Well

Had a "grand" time. Had so much fun entertaining my 19 month old grandson. He was enamored by the oversized light bright peg board. Even my 22 yo son and his wife were fully entertained.

Christopher Bullard

Kind of expensive for what you get. Multiple interactive areas broken. I understand operating on a budget, but I felt there were a lot of broken things. Staff were very friendly. Good place to beat the heat if you have kids, but likely wouldn't go back.

Michael Mccarty

Great place for toddlers to young kids. Tons to do. Vending machines on location for a snack.

Debbie Butler

Lots of fun! And interesting.

TIFFANY Parks

My son had a party at this location recently. The room was set up perfectly. The kids really enjoyed decorating their cupcakes. My issue was with the party host. When I asked her about keeping the pizza warm and requested that it be placed in either the oven that was located in the room or use the microwave she told me that she didn't know how to operate either. I truly took offense to this because had I been a Caucasian woman making the request it would have been handled without a problem. I advised her at that time that I would not be serving the party goers any cold food. At that point she I guess she remembered that she knew the whole time how to operate both the microwave and the oven but she just didn't want to do it for me. I was wrapped up in the events when she asked me to fill out the survey for her and I rated her well. The reason I am bringing this up now is because I called the Monday after my sons party to find out why he didn't get his party bag included with the $200.00 is spent on the party. The young lady I spoke with I guess felt it was funny that I was calling about such a simple item that my son didn't receive and she chuckled while on the phone with me. She then told me that she would transfer me to the young ladys voicemail that hosted sons party. It has been over 2 weeks and I have yet to receive a return phone call. I will no longer look to this venue for any of my sons parties or fun time any longer. I hope your experience is better than mine.

Eric Erb

Our 3 y/o had a great time. A few of the interactive exhibits were in disrepair, but for the most part everything was functional and fun. The cafeteria area is very weird... Completely self service... pay at a terminal... not intended for a real meal

Gregory Millard

Best museum we've been to! They have music room, water area, tic tac robot, construction area, grocery store, farm and kitchen etc. They have a friendly staff and is great for birthday parties.

Ed Cody

I took my children there because of a field trip I was working. Other than the museum has lots to offer the children but if my children weren’t with me then I would’ve stayed on my school bus or walk around.
