Good atmosphere and a lot of history. Must visit the veterans side also

Amy M Vaughn

Great knowledgeable staff, clean building and great cotton tour. Gift shop has speciality items relating to cotton and hard to find local honey. Building can be rented out also for special events.

Tyler Dominick

While on the smaller side it still manages to give a good overview of the crop. Good info, decent exhibits, and coverage of the history of Cotton make it a great quick stop.

Very interesting and informative. Worthwhile, if you know nothing about the history of cotton. Unfortunately, nothing about the disgraceful slave history which made cotton king.

I was not impressed. They didn't tell the whole story. How do you talk about cotton in the South and not mention slaves or slavery?

Mark Feldman

Went here on a whim, and spent two and a half hours learning all about the history of cotton, it's manufacture/processing, and it's importance to the state, the sharecroppers, and the nation. Fascinating!

It was so interesting. I found out things that I didn't really know even though I grew up in a small town in S.C. beside a cotton field. Will definitely go back again. I recommed everyone to visit.

We had our Office Christmas party here and it was really nice. There is so much to see at this museum. I've been here before with my 4-H cultural Summit and we enjoy the place. We got to see how a cotton starts from a seed. We got to see all the different military uniforms that have been worn and donated by members of the community. And don't forget to stop by the gift shop. They have nice gifts in there and memorabilia. Wonderful place.

Great place with an awesome host. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

Quite an education. The owner (who has had a career in the cotton industry) knows so much and shares his knowledge in an interesting and entertaining way. There's a veteran's museum in it's own section of the building and it's quite impressive too; it also regularly serves veterans as their meeting hall. There's a gift shop too. Many schools and other groups, young and old, come here on field trips & adventures. It's free admission although there are little donation boxes to contribute whatever you're able. Go and check it out!

Terrie Minneman

My husband and I had a great time at the SC Cotton Museum. My husband worked in Columbia Springs Mills for 20 years and was able to explain how the different machines worked. It was fun and fascinating to me how cotton was processed back in the day and how different the process is today. It really gives you a much better perspective and appreciation for our farmers. And the museum gift shop has great books and souvenirs . Go and you will love it!

Susan Clark

Interesting little museum - who knew the dreaded bill weavil was so tiny? And the military museum was interesting also.

Ed Barnes

If you are into history, cotton, or textiles this is a must see. Worth a detour off I20.

I grew up in the midWest where they do not grow cotton, I was about twelve the first time I ever seen cotton growing, it was in North East Arkansas, my dad pulled over to the roadside, I got out and pulled 3 or 4 Boles of it and took it to school and showed it to my class. Most all of them had never seen it before, and thought it was awesome also been living in SC now for about 60 years now...

Thomas Commander

Beautiful place to host your event.

Alan Szablewski

If you are from the area or just passing through, you need to stop here! Our tour guide ( owner, historian, etc.) was wonderful and made the experience so much better. Unless you have a close and personal relationship with cotton and its' production, I guarantee you will learn things. And there also is a wonderful veterans museum included in the cost! You will NOT be disappointed!

Lynne Hart

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was well worth the visit! Ed was extremely informative and really gave us a lot to consider about the importance and production of cotton. The displays are well though out and executed. A nice part of a day trip to the area that might include Lee State Park.

Hospitality at it's finest, with a fact filled main dish of Historical accuracy rolled up in Cotton -American History! It was worth traveling the 58 miles from our location in South Carolina to view the Cotton Museum. I'm a Historian and teach American History through the art of Living History. I gleaned new-fresh information to share with middle school students about the history of Cotton. I bought books in the gift shop that will add to my knowledge of Cotton as well as Indigo planting. Cotton Museum is a must to see.

Very informative but very dated. Pleasant staff and only $4.00 nice place on a rainy day.

Marcos Chavez

A little spooky, and decidedly non-inclusive.

Miguel Hernandez

At first I was not sure if we should check it out. But the owner came out and explained how he created the museum. He then walked with us and gave us a personal tour and history lesson on the use of cotton. This is a must stop. Cotton really is the fabric of our lives and every piece of the plant is used.

Even not large, this museum gives an informative overview over the history of cotton in South Carolina, and the social \ technical development of cotton production and procession, from slavery to modern times. The more than friendly staff from the neighboring veterans memorial site opened the museum for us, when we found it closed on a regular day, and he gave us additional info about today's cotton production. What a service!

Very good place to learn about cotton and the processes that goes through to make fabric. This Museum has a very informative staff that enjoys interacting with people and providing them answers to all the questions. It is next to the military memorial for the town of Bishopville which is also a great museums to visit. Prices are very reasonable.
