For not being a large institution there is a lot packed into this museum. The exhibits are fun and educational and if you can, plan your visit around a planetarium event. Very fun!

If you live in the Rock Hill area, and you have never been to this museum, then you are missing out on what the area has to offer. I was impressed by the selection of animal displays. There were some animals I had never even heard of before! The lady working in that area was encouraging people to explore and touch, so it was very interactive - which is important for children (and adults). It would make a great family fun day!

Nice collection of wildlife specimens from around the world. They have a replica of a giant sloth. Free on Sundays.

This isn't the largest natural history museums, but it is one of the best laid out and most interactive I've seen. It is loads of fun for children and adults. My daughter loves to pick out insect, fish, and rock samples from the many cabinets available for individual exploration. Animal pelts that children can touch are also a big hit. There is a planetarium whose showings are included with the price of admission. There's even a few young children's play areas available to round out the fun.

This was a fun place to visit and if you like animals this is the place. You can see the history of South Carolina Animals and so much more. This is a fun place for the kids and you can spend hours of quality family fun.

I don't know who enjoys this museum more- the kids or me! The first time we went there was a great exhibit on nocturnal animals ;however, the second time that was closed. I love the taxidermied animals and a great learning experience for kids for different terrains and the animals and plants that grown within them. There are tables to investigate more and many books and information! I have yet to be in the planetarium as they are limited in show times. My kids really enjoy the kids room too- kitchen area, puppets, blocks galore. A safe and fun space for kids of all ages (probably best for those under 6). Most employees very nice - one lady was getting on kids in kids area to clean up behind themselves in a strict manner. Cute gift shop for local gifts. I would love to see an upgrade to the outside of the building to be more welcoming and maybe something's done outside -- garden, bird houses, etc. For it to represent all of York County a few upgrades would be great!!

Wonderful staff and great programs. Even when programs aren't going on there is hands-on activities for kids. Plus there's a cute, fun baby room.

This is an amazing place with so much to learn for all ages. It would be five stars if they could get the air working correctly. It has been a long time that it has been only half working. At least they keep a sign up as a warning. The staff are always amazingly friendly and helpful. I love that they have the play areas as well. The little ones can get some play time while also learning like the big kids.

This museum is very kid friendly! A very fun, interactive place to visit. Our kids loved spending 4 hours there. There is also a gift shop. We will visit again sometime! I highly recommend thus museum for kids and adults.

Always visited once a year when I was growing up, it's a great place to go with your family for a day trip. My absolute favorite is the planetarium! Makes learning fun.

Wonderful place in York County, SC. This is a museum which focuses on wildlife, particularly stuffed specimens. For me, the highlight of the tour was the Naturalist Center, which has interactive exhibits as well as very impressive specimens, including: polar bear, giraffe, giant land sloth. Was not able to use the planetarium, but will definitely take advantage of in the future. Also two very nice ares for young children to play.

For a small country museum, I was impressed. When I took my son, they had a dinosaur exhibit. Please do not think there were giant fossils or anything else you would expect from a museum in a big city, but it was cute for my 3 year old. They had 2 different dinosaur mazes. This is where you answered questions about dinosaurs to get through the maze successfully. They had 'dinosaur feet' the kids could put on and walk on a memory foam mattress to make tracks. There were lots of small dinosaur toys to play with as well. There is a room that is a permanent fixture that kids can play in. He really liked this room a lot! We spent an hour in there. There are also large taxidermy animals at one end, which were interesting for my little guy. We spend about 3 hours here. Since we have a membership at the Children's Museum, we also got in here for free.

Its a great place for lovers of history and science. Current Smokey bear exhibits are great for kids however the rest of the museum could use some up to date changes. Maybe some technology?

This is our new favorite museum and definitely worth the drive from Charlotte. We watched the planetarium show and looked through the dioramas and interactive educational exhibits with our boys (ages 6 and 8) and practically had the place to ourselves on a weekday afternoon. Their favorite part was the extensive collection of natural artifacts like bird eggs and bones, animal jaws and furs, and rock and mineral samples. The staff was wonderful. Seriously the best we've encountered anywhere. They were knowledgeable and helpful, and spoke well with the kids, engaging with them in a way strangers almost never accomplish.

This is definitely a great place for kids to know a lot about animal kingdom. The artifacts are so lively and resemble the actual species. The planetarium is a great place to be introduced to kids as young as 3. The experience will stay with kids for long. It also has a section for night species and is inarguably one of the best. The museum is quite and well maintained. Limited parking area available. The ticket for non member adult costs $8 and is free for kids aged 3 and below. Irrespective of age everybody will like the experience at this museum.
