Small museum in the math and sciences building at College of Charleston. They have gorgeous t-rex and pteranadon skeletons in the lobby of the building. Definitely worth a visit.

James Evans

This small but delightful museum is a great place to take kids! One highlight is the sand box (happily, the sides are high and kids don't seem inclined to climb in) that the staff stock with interesting stones, fossils, and artifacts for kids to dig up and take home. The cave bear and mosasaur exhibits are particularly impressive. The docent on the day we went, Shelley, was knowledgeable, friendly, and had clear respect for the museum and the work of its curators. The museum takes up just two rooms on the second floor of the School of Sciences and Mathematics Building at the College of Charleston, so it's easy to get to everything.

Cool little museum. Students do a lot of good work in there. I always enjoyed stopping in during my time between classes. Pretty cool exhibits and they do a great job with maintaining them. They also do a good job of providing informative descriptions and the staff present are always very knowledgeable.

History rocks! Prices are a bit high but no big deal. Museums can get old (haha) but not when they rotate exhibits like this one. It is kid friendly and very informative. Also, if you bring your kids, there will be enough to keep you involved as well.

Free admission, metered parking, pretty cool stuff but only about a room and a half worth of mostly fossils. Don't fill the meter it's about a half hour visit tops.

Popped into n here to avoid a torrential downpour and was pleasantly surprised! Free admission (donations accepted), intimate, highly informative, and the gal at the desk was great with my kids. Sadly the T-Rex skeleton had gone back to its home in indiana, but there was still plenty to keep the kids interested for about an hour. Nice little museum!

It's a great little Hidden Gem in the heart of Charleston. Not to mention it's free! They have a lot of cool skeletons and some really cool fossils that really show some of the interesting life that was around Charleston a long time ago.

What a wonderful museum. They have an amazing display on the evolution of whales. Great displays centered around teeth and other interesting facts. Lots of trilobites and other early aquatic life. Things for the littler kids to do. And wonderful staff. Not open on Wednesdays. Classes offered in geology, paleontology, and other sciences. Contact Dr. Beutel

This small museum has an AWESOME Archaeocete and early Odontocete exhibit (Showing the evolution of whales). There's tons of other fossils, from the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and the Cenozoic. All the local South Carolina fossils are showcased. The Mosasaur and Pleistocene Megafauna (Giant Ground sloths, glyptodonts, etc...) exhibit is also great!

Madelyn Lawrence

Went and sign on door said they were cloised (unexpectedly of course). Very disappointing. Probably could have better staffing available for such unexpected events.

Misty Sanchez

My son had a great time! It is just one room so know that before you go. He was especially wowed by the Meglodon. Having stuff that he could touch was especially fun for him.

Small and quiet. The grad student is usually free to answer any questions. You won't spend an afternoon here but definitely can kill a few hours for nothing but a donation.

Small, but a gem. Lots of informational displays and a large sand box, in which children are welcome to dig for fossil treasures! We came home with 4 tiny shark teeth and a tiny vertebrae. Also, there are students who run the museum...talk to them! They have a wealth of information to share. :)

Evan Guthrie
