Very nice place
This was an awesome place to visit. The tour was very informative and interesting. Plus the staff are super nice.
very awesome
Visite très instructive. À voir absolument par les passionnés d histoire et de mécanique industrielle.
Very pretty
Amazing place to visit.
Beautiful story of the industrial period in Pawtucket and the rest of America.
Nice place, went here on a school field trip not much else to say, really just an old and cool mill.
Tour was interesting and included real working machines from the 1700's. Saw a replica of the waterwheel. Guide was knowledgeable and clearly interested in the topic. He was open to questions as well.
They really don't cut the grass when they are supposed to
Very interested place to know more about our past. Go to this beautiful place is always enjoyable.
Beautiful sight to take pictures of Pawtucket downtown
Its a wonderful place to learn about local history
Great hour-long tour by a very knowledgeable guide through the birth of America's industrial revolution in Pawtucket! Saw three buildings next to the Blackstone river- 18th century Brown home, water powered tools and textile mill factories. Definitely recommend well worth the drive from Boston! Wish there was a bit more about the Native American history in the area pre-dating the industrial period.
Amazing and so informative
Beautiful site, lazy river, pristine grounds. I could have stayed outside. I am very happy I did not. The interior building was nicely lit with little lights and the staff clearly enjoyed what they were doing. Thank you to all staff and a nod of gratitude to Lori

Historical
Awesome! Tour guides extremely knowledgeable!! I totally recommend to visit!
Provides a good historical background for the early textile industry in New England. Our tour guide was well informed and it was cool to see some of the machines operate.
Place sucks
(Translated by Google) Although we had previously informed, the mill was closed. (Original) Obwohl wir uns vorher informiert hatten, war die Mühle geschlossen.
So interesting to see what used to be!
amazing historic place!! beautiful setting.
Amazing
Full of ghosts
Incredibly fun & smart tour guide!
Great for all ages.
The site where the American revolution and textiles begin in the U.S.
Its where i can sit when no cate in the world
Clean well stocked but no restrooms
Great
They were closed for the season but it didn't say anywhere on their website closed for the season very disappointing to come from Middletown to Pawtucket to find out they are closed
Recomiendo el lugar porque es un lugar tranquilo
Nice history museum
Cool history here. Its worth checking out but its pretty quick and small.
Great history a must see
Very haunted location
Beautiful place to visit an learn about History.
Our guide was so informative and fun. The mill itself is amazing and beautiful! Highly recommend
Beautiful piece of history.
This is a nice place to stop. They offer guided tours around four different buildings. the guides are very knowledgeable. they know exactly what they are talking about. In every building the guide shows you something opposed to just talking. one room that I relay enjoyed is the actual water turbine. The room is very nice inside. they also show you a working model of what is happening.
Very old and not open in the winter months
Carl was an amazing tour guide.
Visit instructive. A must see for lovers of history and industrial mechanics.
Beautiful, well maintained, step back in history;)
Slater Mill was the site of America’s first cotton mill, and is said to be where our industrial revolution began. The mill is now an historic museum, and is beautifully restored and maintained. It’s also a wonderful event space, and was the locale for the wedding of an old college friend and his bride.
This place is so freakin' historic it is almost unbelievable. The tour guides are wicked knowledgeable and it is amazing to walk around and see the equipment used for what were the beginnings of the American Industrial Revolution. And on top of that if Carl is around he can tell you of the several paranormal experiences that have and continue to occur at this step way back in time historic place! I went on Father's Day when they offered free admission with a paying adult. A really interesting place to check out and did I mention it's HISTORIC?
Great Historical place!
Far more detailed and interactive than you might think. The machine demonstrations were very educational and the guides are very friendly.
Well kept historic buildings. The equipment isn't original since most if not all had British manufacturer names on them. But I wasn't expecting to see original equipment there.
Interesting walk to around outside. The cost to go in to the actual historic area is a bit expensive. The water fall is beautiful and could be better if they'd clean out the river.
Awesomely interesting
Very interesting and not at all crowded
It’s a good place to visit. The views are very nice.
The tour was a historic passage to an era long gone. The beginings of our industrial era.
Guide was really knowledgeable and friendly, interesting museum.
Personal tour was amazing. .. Carl was so patient with our children and very knowledgeable about everything. Love going there! I go every time we come to RI : )
Slater Mill is Historic..U can bring all ur family.. They r lots off events.. As u step inside the mill u step back in time all the machine r still there.. There is also a Museum inside.
Always an exceptional site to visit
(Translated by Google) It is very strange to see where the entrance is, even though the site is open to visitors. Half power to visit .. (Original) מוזר מאד לא ברור איפה הכניסה למרות שכתוב שהאתר פתוח למבקרים.סביבת הנחל יפה רמת נקיון בינונית. חצי כח לביקור..
We received a wonderfully guided tour of the various buildings: a typical period home, the stone building where machinery was fixed (and powered via a water well) and the wood frame structure which was the original mill. (Across the street in the visitors center you can also see a movie about mills and company towns in RI). Nice setting along the river.
Great because its hystory
An amazing historical place and museum! Love coming back again and again! So much to learn and see! People who give tours and work in the museum are incredible and passionate about what they do!
Great staff, good historical site to visit, pretty waterfall and grounds
Good place to go
Slater mill is historic. But not something to do everyday. They do tours on a limited basis. To see how the water was use to advance the American way is amazing. I would recommend making time to see this relic. Soon all of the 17th century building will be gone.
This is my anncestors mill. Wilconson is atually my grandma's last name before she got married to Robert Vaz.
Really nice grounds to walk around. I have not taken one of the tours yet.
Had a huge impact on the industrial revolution, being the first textile mill on continental America, a great place for a school field trip or an educational escapade.
Impressive preserved site of the birth of the Industrial Revolution in the U.S. The tour, with a knowledgeable, personable local guide, brought the pioneering textile manufacturing process to life. (Bring your National Parks card for a nice discount.)
Great Historical Site
Slater mill is an extremely special place and one that I will definitely be going back to many more times. The richness of history and the beauty of the grounds and buildings are really something worth checking out. They do amazing programing with Lizz jazz nights, textile craft classes and informational tours. I highly recommend bringing your family and friends down any weekend. Tours are from 10 to 3 sat. and sun.
Unfortunately the tour was closed on Friday when we went but the grounds were clean and great for pictures.
Puts you at the center of the First Industrial Revolution with the original buildings where it began in the USA
A nice tour sponsored by the rhode island council for the humanities ! Great work and great learning / entertainment
History!
Was an amazing day, so much fun, lots of walking lol!
Best museum in the state, in my opinion.
Good
(Translated by Google) I like it is very calm. There are shadows to be. And with the small children very fun feed the geese and ducks. for pictures very beautiful the place. (Original) Me gusta es muy tranquilo. Hay sombras para estar. Y con los hijos pequeños muy divertido alimentar a los gansos y patos. para fotos muy bonito el lugar.
Picturesque and historic!
Amazing... stumbled on this place b4 leaving town. If u like history, you have to go. The birth place of the American industrial revolution. Several authentic 1800's era pieces of equipment. Tour guide is amazing... knows sooo much. I wanna go back. If ur around the area dont miss it!!!
The buildings are interesting. But the tour is too much $$
Beautiful
It's dirty
American history
Great place to get some history & enjoy the water views. Back to nature. WARM & I just love this place...
A photographer's paradise
very educational tour. Well presented
I really enjoyed the old belt driven machinery, and the water wheel is most impressive.
Historic...first textile mill in America.
A beautiful historic place to visit. They have cotton gins and other artifacts from the mill era here. Wonderful view out the original windows to see the river, and how it would power the mill.
Great place if you like the old machinery and old buildings. Very informative staff.
Gem of our industrial revolution and a must visit!
Very interesting history some machines still work.
Hermoso lugar para un picnic, hacer ejercicio, o sentarse un rato a disfrutar de la.naaturalrza en verano.
Not helpful about history of mill
Nice place to take the kids and learn some history. Picnic area to have some lunch after also.
This place is still a favorite of mine been go in since I was 5 and I'm 32 now
I grew up there
Birthplace of America's Industrial Revolution. Loved seeing the cotton gin.
It is just so rich in history. Here is where the beginning of the industrial revolution started in the United States . The site has some of the best examples of early textile manufacturing. The site set on the Blackstone River and it's a beautiful place. They keep it well maintained with period era gardens which are truly incredible
It's small and quick however the city has another venue across street where you can Learn and read about the birth place of the American industrial revolution. Nice & free 60 minute excursion.
Cool little historic site. If we had more time would have taken the paid tour - price $10 - $12 approximately. Tour said to take 1 hour.
Dk Zen
Great family spot
Beautiful place, lots of history. Lots of buildings and history here. However the tours are a bit pricey. Aside from that really nice, super clean and well taken care of.
Stopped here while visiting New England on vacation. This place was more than we expected. The tour is 2 mills and a home and well priced. The kids and my husband and I really enjoyed it. Carl was our tour guide and demonstrated many of the machines and did a fantastic job, taking time to answer my kids' many questions! Would highly recommend!
Like the history
Slater Mill never disappoints. I attended this year's Knit in Public Day event. As always the event was well planned, museum docents were knowledgeable and friendly.
Always a great place to visit! A nice glimpse into the beginning of our awesome country's industrial revolution! It's cool to see how things worked all those years ago, how hard things really were for people, and than look at how much things r easier because of technology! A fun fact for all of you, do u know children started to work as young as 6- 7 yeas old! Because they had small hands to fit into machines! CRAZY right!? We should all know our country's history so we dont make the same mistakes again!
Mühle funktioniert nicht, sonst sehr interessant v.a. auch Film im VC
Went to the fiber arts weekend. So wonderful. Beautiful yams and products.
We went on a field trip today, and with the exception of Mr. Jay and Ms. Amanda, the other presenters were fairly rude and obviously don't know how to properly engage grade school children to keep them interested and content. It's a shame that a place with such a wealth of knowledge can really turn off a child's interest so easily due to poor presentation.
Historical Beauty!!!
Good for the price
Friendly let me use nice rest room to change my baby
Beautiful and the history
cool.
I was an interpreter here 25 years ago and was pleased to see the museum not only has been well-maintained over the years, but improved. Our interpreter was knowledgeable and personable. Fascinating story, particularly within the context of the Blackstone River Valley.
The location for the start of Industrial Revolution in the the New World. Several old structures and a replica water wheel are located here in downtown Pawtucket. It's what Pawtucket is most known for.
beautiful scenery..until u turn around & checkout the raggidy bus stop across the street.but it would probably lookeven better if we had somemore buildings that looked like they came from the same time period instead of just 1 random bldg maybe make a theme downtown around it.. or at least mark the historic buildings and houses we do have... kinda like providence does in their city.
Great experience
Best in Rhode Island for history on the era of industrialization . The cotton mills are worth a field trip
Very nice, very well kept. Friendly staff, lots of information. Can't get access to inside of mill buildings without going on a 50 minute tour at a cost of $12 per adult.
Great tour
Used to live near here and went back over the weekend with my family. Nice to see they are taking such nice care of the property.
Get the library pass from Pawtucket library only. Free for 2 adults and 2 kids. Student discount is just $10. Regular price is $12 adult and $8.50 kids. Tour guides are well informed.
Visit the birth place of the industrial revolution.
Wonderful place to drink in American history.
If you want to take your fifth graders on a field trip but can’t afford to take them to Colonial Williamsburg, this is the place for you!
(Translated by Google) Beautiful place to relax (Original) Lindo lugar para relaxar
Very interesting.
The staff at Slater Mill Museum is always making sure that the displays and tours are always adapting to tell so many of the interesting stories revolving around Slater Mill and the industrial revolution that started there. They also have impressive seasonal ghost tours and tours about the pre-industrialization Era of the surrounding area.
Excellent restored mill and building clearly depicting the history of weaving in RI - looks very familiar coming from the UK where it all started.
I came today as a chaparogne with my son's school. The tour guides were absoutuyly terrible. Rude to all the children! The only one we enjoyed was the male guide. I will probably never recommended coming her to anyone.
Was nice
Slater Mill Historic Site offers an amazing tour experience with guides providing unexpected details that bring history to life!
Very informative tour! Learned so much about the different processes, things I had actually wondered about when we saw certain tools on exhibits but had never been explained.
We were on a road trip and just happened to bump into this place. We spent a few hours walking around and really enjoyed the history lesson. You can tell that the people who run it really carry pride in their hearts for this historical place. The lady that ran the welcome center was very helpful and shared lot of information with us.
Cool place cool place to visit very nice people
