A great option for when you've seen enough over-the-top gilded-age mansions. A modestly sized but impressive permanent collection. The 2017 juried show was top-notch. We'll return to see the next one. The museum building itself is worth seeing. It's basically the first prototype of American stick-style residential architecture. Free off-street parking.

Great museum with artwork spanning from Gilbert Stuart to modern artists. The collection concentrates on local artists from the past to the present. The Griswold house itself is very interesting, as well.

Museum not so great but exposition on Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney was a wonderful discovery on a very interesting life and sculptures masterpieces

Nice but small. Beautiful old house converted into an art museum. Varied collection, without a cohesive theme, except for the "Forever Young" exhibits. Stop by if you're in the area of Newport, RI.

Omg they got very historical art right up to the present. Staff is friend. It will burn up 2 hours to see all the exhibits and after you finish you can have a picnic right across the street.

Pretty small museum but nice artwork. A variety of colors too. The staff were not very nice though. They were casting us very mean looks as we walked around and my 5 year-old skipped. When my son wanted to take a peek at the paintings, the staff told us to "BACK OFF!" Will not visit here again even though we did not have a chance to go through the whole museum. Don't really recommend it to those looking for a place to go around here.
