Nice, free museum! It is small, but interesting especially since I had never been to Newport before so I learned some new things. I would recommend coming here especially on a cold day where walking outside is difficult!

I expected to see a lot more exhibits and information on the Gilded Age as well as other aspects of Newport's history. The museum seems focused on the Native American component instead.

This is a very small museum in the heart of Newport. There is no admission fee. It has some interesting artifacts and does a nice job of detailing the history of the island. The shop is chock full of basically everything but the kitchen sink, however it does have it's charms and the employees are great.

Very limited, I suggest you leave a donation after you visit based on your experience vs. paying the $5 suggested when entering

So much of what you learn in Newport is from the Gilded Age. This museum gives you scoop on the founding of Rhode island and colonial times. Small but very interesting.

If you're in Newport hitting the shops, stop in. It's set up primarily as a book store containing local history books but it's surprising how much is there in a small footprint.

Nicholas Miller

Small place with really fun things to look at and potentially purchase.

The museum is small, but well put together. We went on a tour too. Our guide was good with lots of knowledge and an affable demeanor, though she spoke rather quickly and was occasionally hard to hear over traffic.
