Nice grounds on the waterfront. Very historical. The tour mostly focused on the furniture craft of the time with some tales about the previous owners of the home. Likely a great tour for those who love antiquing. It's a small house relative to the others on the house tours and would be one of the first to be cut from my itinerary.

If you like to see and know about antique furniture, clocks etc, this is a great place for you. Otherwise just go and see other mansions.

(Translated by Google) The Preservation Society of Newport, Rhode Island is the oldest preserved and managed property in Newport County. Built in 1748. Do not shoot inside differently from others. There is nothing other than being old. Guided Tour required four times a day. (Original) 로드 아일랜드 뉴포트 비영리 단체인 The Preservation Society of Newport County

One of our favorite Preservation Society properties. A gorgeous colonial home with the most amazing history of all the properties.

Beautiful house with some unique furniture. Very good tour guide who makes the history channel me alive. Sadly no interior photography allowed. The mood in the rooms lit by afternoon sun is so unique

Our guide, Priscilla, was very knowledgeable about the interesting history of Hunter House. The house and it's contents are lovely. I especially liked the progression of chair design through the years on the upper floor and examples of local Newport tiles. Absolutely worth seeing.

The house was wonderful, our tour guide (Owen) had a good sense of humor and did a great job with the tour. The furniture was nice, but hard to see due to a lack of lighting. Overall a wonderful tour. I would highly recommend it.

Not great. Whitewashed history.

Very great tour on colonial furniture styles and the exports of the colonial newport. Very cool and very descriptive.

Wonderful preservation with too much furniture for the period, but I understand the reasons for this as the Preservation Society wishes to allow visitors to see as much of their collection as possible. Atmospheric and excellent guides who impart a great deal of knowledge in an easy to assimilate manner. The only criticism is - restricted opening hours. My wife and I are from England, currently living in Boston, and it took three visits to gain access. Marvelous house, when we got inside !

If You're a history buff, this is the place to go. Our guide was fantastic. It was actually one of my favorite homes on the tour.

This is not a review of the museum. This is a review of the admission price. The Breakers is $26 and I spent 2 hours there with an excellent audio guide at my own pace. On the same day I came here and the price was $35 for a tiny house. I'm not sure if they understand why there were swarms of people in Breakers and 3-4 people here, walking around impatiently waiting for the tour to start (which they won't start because there was not enough people). I love history but this is just... strange.

Love the history

Fascinating

Excellent tour. The history of the house is important but the information concentrates on the furniture and architecture. Check out the water level inside the house when it flooded.... I cannot imagine.
