There are only two buildings but there is a lot of history to be told on the tour. If you have a discount coupon call first to see if it's accepted.

It is currently closed (opening at the end of April) and we are excited to visit again. We didn't cross the fences (or trespass) but just looking at the grounds was a great detour on our road trip.

Wonderful, historic birthplace of Gilbert Stuart, a prolific portrait artist who painted 6 sitting Presidents and much more. Dave, our guide, gives a very informative tour, nearly an hour long....fantastic for a $10 admission fee! The grounds are green and peaceful and you can wander some trails on your own if you wish. My elderly parents also enjoyed it!

An enchanting location in New England. An historical site. The drive to get to this place is very enjoyable especially if you love long New England drives. This is a seasonal place it is open during the summer months.

We were not able to enter because we had a small dog...that we were going to carry in our arms.

Off the beaten path. Quaint and inviting. Landscape is well mentained and unlike many - especially for museums as it's easier to work on level ground. Beautiful pond with educational signage on wildlife. And wildlife there is. Just who runs it and why aren't people actively going here? It was prime hours for someone to be Manning fort. Oh well and to be frank, not sure if this is a downside...Could just be the exact opposite.

Gary James

If you enjoy some local history. Take the tour

We arrived early and got an amazing docent that allowed me and my family to experience a trip to the colonial times. The grist mill is fascinating and still works! The house has been restored to its colonial glory. A great experience for the whole family.

Intriguing look at the work and early home of a great portrait artist (his most famous is in your wallet or pocket right now). Quaint, charming place, guided tour is interesting and well worth a bit less than an hour of your time...nature walks here, too.

Ricky Potts

I kept seeing this on street signs as I drove by. So I decided to come over and see what all the fuss was about. This guy is pretty famous and the house/barn looks cool! It was closed, but I got a feel for what this is all about. The history of growing up here.
