You will see the information of real people like you who know the services of National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (Museum) in the area close to Oklahoma.
Right now the firm gets a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and the score has been based on 2315 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is basically the highest, and it's founded on a large number of reviews, so we may conclude that the assessment is quite credible. If people have bothered to leave their score when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of Heritage museum.
This Museum is a national treasure it was a treat to visit on free Wednesday. Great artwork.
Great variety of pieces displayed. Sequencing of displays/areas seems to flow well. Foot traffic moves at a steady pace. Luckily managed to go on a free admission day as well.
There is so much to see here. They have some amazing exhibits. The artwork is exquisite. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the information they had on Native Americans, Cowboys, and the West. This place is definitely worth the stop!
A very well-done museum...and IT’S FREE! Several exhibits filling many rooms. And there were lots of interactive [photo op, coloring, crafty] experiences for both adults and kids. There’s a movie theater with a movie that plays at 1pm daily (with free popcorn). Great gift shop too!
Cannot say enough about this fabulous museum. Will definitely return. Hope it doesn't feel like the meat locker it was on the day we were there.
Came here after hearing about it in Apple News as a must-see sight in OK City, and I have to agree it is. The museums is a combination art museum (western and native american - both recent and past), history museum on cowboys and western life (including an exhibit on guns of the west, and western TV and film stars/shows-which was my favorite), and the National Rodeo Hall of Fame. We spent 3 hours and could have spent more. It is well laid out, spacious and modern.
Lots of history to enjoy. Family friendly with great AC. :-) We went on a very HOT day. Some areas are currently under construction. Look forward to going back to see the changes.
We love museums and we enjoy learning about history so this was a fantastic place to learn about the history of the cowboy, cowboy culture, and some about our native American heritage. They had some stunning photography and paintings, as well as some interactive exhibits for children. Throughout a good portion of the year they also offer free entry on Wednesdays!
The place is definitely not worth the price, there's more paintings then anything, there's only a couple things there that's relevant to the name
Read Krakel's book on the formative years of the"Cowboy Hall of Fame" and wanted to visit for years. Stunned by the size and quality of the art/artifacts/imprints on display. Highly recommend planning a whole day here to any Western collector or art enthusiast.
Very nice exhibits. The staff was very knowledgeable. My 3 and 5 year olds got bored quick, but the rest of us enjoyed it.
This place is the best even as a young girl i enjoyed coming here. Its so nice and the paintings are amazing. Lots pf things to do for kids too
I spent 5 hours here and could have stayed longer. Great place and amazing museum.
Beautiful paintings and sculptures of the Old West. Exquisite hand tooled saddle. Need to be honest about disasterous treatment of Native Americans.
Lots of interesting items to see. It's a huge place so plan on spending several hours.
Outstanding collection of western art and paintings. Huge selection of cowboy artifacts, firearms, western actors and more. If you like western culture, you'll love this museum and all it has to offer. A fantastic combination of art and culture. Spent 6 hours roaming the galleries. The paintings were breathtaking. A great way to spend a rainy day. I highly recommend attending for all ages.
This is one of the greatest museums I’ve ever been to, but it’s almost too big with too many intriguing things to look at. I’m good at a museum for about 3-4 hours then I start getting burnt out. I wasn’t even halfway through the museum and still hadn’t been outside. If I could, I’d take my time over 2-3 days the next time I visit. It really is an incredible collection. If only every museum covered their subjects and surrounding culture so well.
Always a mellow time, love the art, discoverable coloring/activity/reading stations and puzzles for kids. Quiet. They have a cafe and gift store too.
Beautiful, enormous museum filled with interesting and beautiful artifacts and art. I really loved the time we spent there and would recommend it to anyone!
We were looking for a place to visit while staying in Oklahoma City. This museum incorporates art, history, military, and cinema while telling the story of the cowboy and the West. Thoroughly enjoyed our three hours there.
So much to see and do! Great gift shop, wonderful staff, and loads of information and history. Definitely a must see stop in Oklahoma for locals or tourists! It's also an amazing event venue!!
Really nice .museum, lots for see and do guided tours, reasonably priced except gift shop ,nice items but extremely expensive, definitely worth the stop
We went on a school field trip and it was so much fun We got to go to David Payne's Wild Weather Camp. SO COOL FOR THE KIDS. (The adults too) Right now every Wednesday until November 20, 2019 it will be free for everyone I am soooooo taking my family so we can take our time and enjoy all the fun cowboy western history So if that's your thing you should so totally go it is awesome
Beautiful and well curated with gems of cowboy and American Indian history. It is a large museum with the most beautiful grounds at the back of the museum. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
It’s was really good the old little style of life the cowboys the miners and the sad part the native Americans life suffering way of life and happy also for meetin my amazing friend from The Navajo Tribe hope you contact me buddy thanks to everyone at the museum really great people
A very well done museeum! So worth the price!
We take the grandkids every first Saturday of the month. They look forward to getting to do the children's activities, puzzles & Scavenger Hunt. Lots of good photo opportunities & very nice helpful staff.
We love the artwork more han anything but the artifacts and cowboy memorabilia are simply amazing. The staff and volunteers are always helpful and courteous!
Very inspiring & nice to see all things relating to our ancesters. Clean & inviting. Loved it!
Ya can't go through Oklahoma city without stopping by the National cowboy & western museum. All the way from NJ and one of our most memorial experiences. Perfect location for all ages with some thing of interest. Very clean and friendly staff. A don't miss partner!
This is an amazing place. Lots of history and beautiful things. Would definitely go again.
Popularly known as National cowboys Museum. I just loved the Museum especially the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples. The day we visited the Museum, we were entertained by the flute, solo and group dance and singing of native Oklahoman. The performances were mesmerizing. The museum is very beautiful and gigantic. One can easily spend 2/3 hrs here in the Museum.
This place has changed so much since I was a kid, but it's basically Graceland for an Oklahoman. My girlfriend grew up on a landrun ranch, and actually seeing a museum devoted to her family's lifestyle made this place practically her Mecca. We will now return bi-monthly
Very big took over an HR to do less than half. But very cool educational and beautiful artifacts!! And art
Beautiful facility. A must see for anyone who loves art and history, especially of the American West
This was an amazing stop on our way home to TN. My girls ages 8/10 enjoyed the museum. You will need a light jacket because it is a lil cold. The Old Town and Movie Theater we my favorite.
Great great place to visit and learn about our Heritage!!! I recommend that everyone visit this place and allow 4 hours to do it justice!!
The cowboy museum exhibit is great. If you want to be able to spend more time looking at it then find your way past all the art displays. Keep going to the back. You will finely find your way to the actual cowboy museum stuff. Then if you have time go back to the artwork.
The western part and the garden was my absolute favorite. This place was worth the money no doubt.
This museum displays a mixture of art, history, and artifacts that can be enjoyed by anyone. I especially enjoyed the statues and the saddles.
What a great place.. The staffs from cashiers to tour guides are so warm and friendly they greeted us and gave informations about the place, offered to take photos with my family and very helpful when i need a room to breastfeed my 10 month baby.. wonderful experience we highly recommend!
First, it is Huge! Second, it is amazing. There are amazing volunteers! Again I did not take any pictures with them or of them! Sorry. But these people are memorable! There are rotating exhibitions too! The Galleries are serially organised and the dioramas are beautiful. Specially the recreation of a township. There are selfie spots marked out to take the perfect selfies! And there's a ton of activities for children. Go and take kids with you! Learn and Have Fun! Oh! There's a well stocked Gift Shop with pretty pretty jewelleries!!
Besides having just a wonderful collection of art and artifacts, this museum is wheelchair accessible. My 9 year old, who uses a wheelchair, was especially thrilled to go through Prosperity Junction, a mock frontier town. She loved looking in the windows of each location. We actually went through it 3 times because she loved the sound of the wooden planks under her chair and the fact that she could look in every window. I’m so glad we visited! It’s such a cool collection, especially the parts about the entertainment industry and rodeos. Definitely worth our time and money!
The quality and details of this museum is impressive. I learned so much about country life and cowboy/cowgirl culture here. It's organized so professionally. Just as good as great DC museums. Easily half a day needed or even more to see most of it. Highly recommended.
This was absolutely an amazing museum! They also let me and my whole family in for free since I'm military. I think it was a summer promo but very cool and a great experience. Definitely enjoyed it!
Man! 3 hours goes by fast here. The exhibits were very good. Several of the halls were closed. But there is more than enough to do here. Artwork is fantastic! The display on cowboy movies and TV was very good. Great museum and staff!
I stopped in with the artist friend of mine and I expected to be underwhelmed as I’m not into spending a day in an art museum. The intricacy of the difference in many very kinds of art touch me to the center of my being. At first I was mentioning to my friend that some of the artwork seemed unrefined and clunky and that’s when he mentioned to me that that piece is not meant to be looked at from 3 feet away. It was in the grand room so I walked across the room to view it and it almost looked as if it was 3-D just popping into life! I thoroughly enjoyed it and it didn’t help that they had a display of old west firearms that time. All in all I would say it is a must see!
Very cool museum with so much history to offer. Much bigger and more to see than expected!
Great place for kids, especially the western town. Small children probably won't like yhe tours, though.
Spacious amount of displays. Paintings, sculptures, and a creative way to make kids have fun. They can color, play I spy, puzzles of painting are the painting location. Every area is covered. Security guards are friendly and help you interact with exhibits. Selfies stations and props to help. Welcoming people at the entrance and helpful to both kids and the elderly. There was some construction going on outside but it did not interfere with the museum. Grill restaurant on one of the wings.
For an east coast cowboy from upstate NY, this was a trip to heaven. Plan to spend a day here, it is beautiful and there is a lot to see
The place really isn't a museum or a cowboy hall of fame. What It is is a western art gallery. The paintings and sculpture on display are very well done and do depict some aspects of the old west. We did enjoy our visit but it was not what we expected.
I don't know exactly what I was expecting for this museum but I was completely blown away. The museum itself is huge so plan a couple hours or longer. There's everything from beautiful oil paintings to native American regalia to anything and everything that has to do with cowboys. I learned a lot and had a great time.
I’m not normally into museums but this museum is awesome! There are so many interesting things to see and the paintings are magnificent (I’m not normally into art either). If I ever get back to that area I would make sure to go back again. As far as I’m concerned it’s the best thing to do in Oklahoma City and a must see.
Enormous museum; my boyfriend and I didn't even have time to walk the entire place! Lots and lots of beautiful paintings and other artwork! There's an original, although highly restored, stagecoach at the entrance to the exhibits that you can actually sit in. In addition to the lovely artwork, I really enjoyed the exhibits dedicated to different movie stars showcasing their careers in western films. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back as soon as we can to see the other half of the museum that we weren't able to see our first time around!
I am a not scout and I got to camp here for a day. It was very fun until night when it got very stormy and we had to go underground. Gave me a panic attack. But I loved it, the. Chuck wagon festival is amazing because you get to do so many things.
Great museum! I enjoyed it very much, the map was easy enough to follow too. The first half was pretty much just paintings and other art depicting various American Indian scenes with descriptions beside them. There were several rooms full of this and it was a little tedious to read them all to be honest. But it is very in depth which I give credit for. I particularly enjoyed the Rodeo section! Lots to learn about cowboys through the years. Would highly recommend visiting!
Tons of things to see! Amazing collection of history and culture. Lots of art on display. My whole family enjoyed visiting this place so much that we ran out of time before getting to view everything. To top it off, it's free!
Great place to take the kids. Make sure you find the old town inside. It's a night time setting and really cool.
Very well done, awesome collections. Wish we had more time to spend here. Thouroughly enjoyed the Russell and the Remington collections.
This place is NOT A MUSEUM!!!! I say again, not a museum.... at the very least it is an art gallery. While it exhibits beautiful works of art (from the past couple decades) it doesn't warrant the title of a museum. If art is your sort of thing, then this is the place for you. As for me, I'll stick with the traditional museums that exhibit bits of the past that made an impact on history. Meanwhile, you could enjoy your bread and wine at this place... they really should change the name.
Wow! My first visit and wish I had arrived earlier in the day as I needed more than the 2 hours that remained before closing. There are small to huge sculptures, fine art oils, lots and lots of guns of all sorts. Saddles from plain to wonderfully tooled leather to lavishly decorated with sterling silver. One section had great displays of Western Movies. Kinda fun as well as informative. I really love all of the Native American artifacts, clothing and pottery. Descriptions are informative and easy to understand. I will visit again my next time in OKC, as I need to see the rest of the galleries!
Kinda fun as well as informative. I really love all of the Native American artifacts, clothing and pottery. . We actually went through it 3 times because she loved the sound of the wooden planks under her chair and the fact that she could look in every window. I learned a lot and had a great time. To top it off, it's free! Plan a long visit! Reasonable howdy access, too.
Absolutely incredible place. Need to spend a whole day there learning about cowboys. It was super neat and kids would love it!!
This is a very unique place with so many things to see. The volunteers that work here are awesome and are very eager to answer any questions or give a brief history lesson on the artifacts or Native American culture. We will definitely be back. Also military gets in for free plus 3 guests I believe!
Something for everyone in the family to enjoy! My son's especially love the old cowboy town! Gift shop is nice and a great spot to find tourist items.
Great experience. The kids loved it too! There are activities now to get the young ones involved: puzzles, drawing, coloring pages and a scavenger hunt.
Medium-to-large facility, approximately two-to-three hours to visit inside and outside areas. Free parking. Admission $12.50 for adults. Museum is a combination of art-exhibits (paintings and sculptures), historical artifacts, a couple of enclosed video-theaters, and a fairly impressive "recreation" of a western town inside of the building. The "recreation" was the most impressive portion of the museum and allowed for a lot of photos; it also unfortunately made the rest of the facility a little dim in comparison. The art exhibits range from spectacular to average, and many of the paintings are for sale (often thousands of dollars). If you're in-town, this is worth a morning.
We came as part of a field trip with my daughter's 3rd grade class. I love coming here and looking at all of the art and artifacts from a bygone era. The students were engaged and asking questions. The areas outside are beautiful and well maintained. The art work is stunning, be it on canvas or sculpture. If you are into the western way of life or style this is a must visit place for you.
The staff was very helpful in pointing out where to go first and very knowledgeable of the exhibits on display. Plan at least 2-3 hours if you really want to see and read everything. Take some time to go outside and check out the trees planted as they are all different and native to the US.
What a fabulous place to visit! We have been here 3 time and this time with our grandson and nephew. They throughly enjoyed everything they saw. The volunteer pointed out all the neat rooms and what they contain. Awesome...a must see.
A great place to visit and the locals seem to forget about it. If you're from out of town it's a must-see
Great educational museum experience. We only had time to stop in for an hour or two, could have easily spent all day examining all the displays. A truly legendary piece of cross-country Americana. The gift shop is beyond unreasonably expensive. Mass-produced "artisan" items that are not local or unique.
The museum was absolutely fantastic. They had a wonderful art exhibition called "Prix de West" showcasing western artists, several historical exhibits, a pop culture exhibit, an outdoors garden to walk through, and an entire indoor small town to walk through. They also have a gift shop and a cafe. Cool place that you can tell a lot of work and care went into.
We arrived late in the day so only had about an hour to spend in the museum, but really enjoyed our brief visit. We spent most of our time viewing the beautiful western themed art in the museum's numerous galleries. The museum staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and the gift shop is large with a wide variety of souvenirs available. We saw just enough of the museum to know that we want to come back and spend more time enjoying the exhibits.
Wonderful collection, very hi quality museum, exhibits. Wide ranging historical and cultural, from Indian heritage to cowboy movies. Plan a long visit! Reasonable howdy access, too.
First vist. Great exhibits. We spent 2 hours there and could have spent more. The only negative was the flow of the exhibits was a little odd. I felt like we may have missed some items due to no clear path and multiple entrances into each room. Highly suggest a map.
