Lancaster is great in the summer especially July. The grounds are immaculate, the house is not as great as the legacy.

Must visit if you are in Lancaster. Not sure most people realize Sheman was from Lancaster. Story of his life is amazing and to be in his boyhood house is special.

Really glad we finally went! Learned a lot and the staff was excellent. Sherman was not only a Civil War hero but a very cool guy from a great family that understood Democracy and helped shape America. Bonus: There's a handwritten letter from Lincoln upstairs!

The Sherman House Museum will be closed July 4th, 2015. It will be open Friday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 5th, from noon until 4 p.m.

The house is utterly beautiful as is the surrounding neighborhood. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Parking is available on the street on a busy highway. After your tour take some time to see the neighborhood.

The hours listed are close@4pm/1600hrs. BUT the docent told me they only do guided tours. If no one is there by 3pm/1500hrs they close shop. So when we showed up at 3:10pm/1510hrs the place was locked up tight with a closed sign in the window. The docent was leaning on the front fence chit chatting, hence this inside dope from May2017.
