A wonderful surprise and well worth seeing. If touring the nearby Campus Martius museum do this first, as it'll give you a chance to see the W.P. Snyder and grounds exhibits while the sun is hitting their 'good side' for photography purposes, beat the crowds, and while the morning is still cool and comfortable. Lots of great steamboat and paddleboat models, paintings, and artifacts. A definitive Must-see while in Marietta!

Another excellent Marietta museum. If you are interested in riverboats this place will be 2-3 hours well spent. If you have some time tour the WP Snider and ride the Valley Gem as well.

Lady with customer service at the entrance was very rude about their no guns policy. I walked up to the building, saw the sign and turned around to walk away and this lady harassed me about me having my gun on me. But there were no other signs in the parking lot or entrance to the premesis only on the main door into the building.

The River Museum is fairly informative about the steam age of river travel and commerce. Interesting. The tour if the ship is also fascinating.

It's small but decent, admittedly the tour guide was a rookie but he couldn't even explain how steam power is generated, didn't know that the place where the captain's station is a pilot house, point out a capstan, what a waste of time for anyone who knows anything about the subject

The Ohio River Museum in Marietta shows visitors how the inland waterways shaped America. From the colorful characters to the models of sternwheelers to the restored shanty boat and the last of it's kind, the WP Snyder sternwheeler, built in 1918, the museum brings to life an era many people never knew and only dream about.
