Excellent museum. Extremely kid friendly.
Great place to take family. Wonderful museum with things.for all ages.
It's a nice place for an outing
Great place to get the history of Canton, Ohio and the influence of Canton, Ohio. There's a hands-on kids area that's a fun time.
Always a great time.
Nice museum near beautiful grounds. Great place to pack a picnic, walk around, and then spend the afternoon inside the Museum. I've taken many kids I babysit there for an outing, and it's always a popular choice!
Unexpected and very interesting
I go here to walk the McKinley Monument stairs and the walk the trails. It's beautiful and a great workout challenge
Nice to stop and visit but a bit small. They also just updated an area and it feels a waste of money but still would keep coming.
Guests from out of town were visiting. We took them to the McKinley monument and then the museum. They were very impressed.
Great time! Something for everyone.
A safe place to visit and learn a portion of the USA's great history.
If Rocky Balboa was was born in Canton he would be running up the steps of the McKinley Monument. Go check it out if ya get the chance.
We arrived late on a rainy day. The staff were jovial and informative. One hour is not enough time to explore this place. It is great for kids. The science exhibits are exciting and interactive. The history exhibits are very entertaining. We could have spent half a day easily. I look forward to another visit.
is it a national landmark?
Very complete.
The monument was the best part. The library and museum are very outdated. A lot of things weren't working inside the museum. You can get a map to the cemetery next to the monument and learn more of McKinley and other famous people buried there.
Way more stuff than expected! Take a good turtle crawl threw the museum, you will not be disappointed!!
I went here with my 2 younger neices and they just loved it. They had several demonstrations throughout the day. It was years since I have been here, so I was just as excited as my neices that have been here over 20 times. There are many exhibits that help tell a story of lots of history here in canton Ohio. They have a swinging pendulum that swings back and fourth and knocks pins over to tell the time. I really enjoyed watching it. They have coat racks to hang your coats up. Where the dinasor exhibit is has live reptiles and birds to enjoy. On Sat and sun there is a planetarium show, which is really informational. The man instructing explains how to locate several different stars while making it fun at the same time. I will be going back this summer and highly recommend this place for a family outing or alone.
Fun place to go and learn.
Great place nice history awesome place for the family
Alot of neat things to see & do especially for kids!!
Haven't been here since elementary school. Brought my daughter she loved it. Especially the dinosaurs.
A surprisingly awesome experience.
A must place to see when you're in town Very interesting and informative
Very Lame of the Museum to withhold solar ececlipse glasses until Monday at 1 pm....Very Disappointed.
Nice place lots of history
Excellent history lesson!
Gah - this place is awful. Dank, dark and depressing. Where is the real history? Stark County has so much more to offer. How is this place still operating? Who is in charge? Does the Board even go in there? Does anyone working there care about Stark County? I'm embarrassed to send folks here. Wake up folks ---
Outstanding memorial to a murdered President. He was a proponent of science and technology. The people's President and welcoming to all our citizens.
Lots of interesting things to check out in the museum. A fun place to take the kids for an affordable and educational outing.
A fun museum to browse, for adults and kids alike. The science and nature portion of the museum is neat, with some cool animals and fun science experiment exhibits. However, the top floor with historical displays is awesome, especially if you’re from the area because of the great attention to local history. The Street of Shops is so much fun to walk through and look around, and feels very immersive. Definitely worth checking out at least once.
What is this
Much more than I expected..stuff for all ages...
I came here back in the 1970's on a field trip. This is very enjoyable for the whole family. From age 5 - 100, the sides of the steps are a sliding board for any age. I also found a few old photos on the internet, not sure what year the lagoon was filled in, that would be a sight to see today.
Excellent experience. I will say that the President McKinley Library might be slightly a misnomer as McKinley's artifacts only are in one gallery. The village and the trains were an excellent experience!
Must see in Canton!
Very impressed with this museum. A nice mix of local history, hands on science that is kid friendly, info on President William McKinley, as well as an impressive monument to President McKinley. The museum works to be interactive - it was a hit with our boys. A very pleasant surprise and well worth a visit.
Love this Museum! A little bit of history. A little bit of science. Some dinosaurs and a few living critters. Some entertaining hands-on activities for the kiddos. A beautiful monument to our president. Lovely setting. Would have given it 5 stars but the planetarium show was mediocre at best - our show host admitted that they use an inexpensive bulb in their star projector. We could barely see them. However, it is free unlike other museums where you have to pay an additional fee to gaze at the stars - so you get what you pay for. And they could use a cafe. There are vending machines if you need a light snack or a drink. And picnic tables on hand if you want to pack your own. But a place where you could grab a sandwich and coffee would be nice. Still, lots to do and see. Well worth the admission price. The favorite activity for our family... Sliding down the balustrades on the stairs of the monument. Whee!
the greeter lady gave me her bad attitude when I walked in at close. Customer service was not good.
I underestimated the amount of time we needed to picnic at the McKinley Monument. Right away, the kids dashed up those seemingly never ending steps. When I could hear the sounds of labored breathing, I knew they must have reached the top! Setting up for lunch was a breeze, since there were several vacant picnic tables located under the cover of mature trees, right in front of the Presidential Library. The park attracted all sorts of people. There were exercise enthusiasts, families, musicians, lovers, lunch-breakers and even a stylish group of older folks that traversed the steps in sync! My what a sight! I would allow a few more hours, if we visit again.
Some of the teens can be very obnoxious but it’s a overall great place
The McKinley Memorial is a great place to visit. If you like to work out an run stairs the is a popular place......also it is a nice view Canton, Ohio looking east from the top of the monument. It is located next to the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum.

It's a gorgeous monument; however I'm confused as to why people think this is an appropriate place to exercise. It's the grave site for a slain president, not a fitness attraction. I am disappointed by the lack of respect for it however am glad that they keep it as well maintained as they do.
My dtr (9) loves this museum. Our 1st visit, she was 6. It is clean, has a friendly staff and many activities for the children. My dtr loves the science area, the trains, and sliding down the fire pole.
This is not a presidential library and museum, it’s a local history museum and children’s science center. It does those things well but it utterly fails as a museum about the life, career, and legacy of William McKinley.
We arived an hour before closing so we did not get to spend as much time as we would have liked but it's worth going to once and seeing.
Great library, well worth the price of admission.
I was expecting more information about the president, but the museum was mostly a small natural history/science center. The tomb is quite beautiful, though.
I went to two
This museum is not only about McKinley but has a really cool planetarium, science center and history museum. A great place for kids, families, or anyone.
Awesome place to visit...
Nice place to visit
"Presidential Library" - what? You must think our eyes are glued shut. The exhibits? We see them. This is a Science and History museum. McKinley gets but a small cut.
Must see.. we had a great time at the museum.
Great local museum. A lot of great info about Canton and great exhibits for the kids!
Nice tribute to honor President McKinley. California can't erase the fact he was President, get it over it!
Great place to learn about the history of Canton, President McKinley. Also a nice small hands on science area.
Great exhibits and local history.
This is my first presidential library to visit in the States and the experience was amazing. Surely I will be back with my entire family.
The McKinley Museum is a great place for ages 3-14! The staff is very friendly and can answer questions that you have about the objects you see! They have a hands on science area which is wonderful especially for younger kids! There is also a place in the museum that has many shops, house's, etc that are fun to play in/look in! They have a train set up that you can watch go around the track! This is a good place to visit!
Love the museum, and includes other places as well! Great investment! Love the guides, they have so much knowledge!
Mc Kinley Mon. Is very beautiful ,bring a picnic in the park.
(and interesting and fun) main Street recreation. I would highly recommend! The library and museum we're much more than expected. The science displays were interactive and interesting for all ages, kids and adults. A science museum membership will get you in free. There are no direction signs, it is off 7th Street. The tomb can be seen from that area. There are also historic displays, and a major
Not what expected. Like a small children's science center.
It is a very nice place to visit and to walk if you enjoy that sort of thing and live in Canton.
Wow! This is better than some of the modern era presidential library/museums. The museum included great displays, very informative stories of his life plus presidency and a very unexpected lovely historical town display. The beautiful, somber mausoleum is a very nice tribute and resting place for a president who lost his life while serving.
Best Planetarium to visit in ohio.
A really great place to visit. My grandchildren - age 5 and 7 have a wonderful time - cute, hands on exhibits - and the tour down the old time city was incredibly entertaining for them. Carl - who works there - or perhaps volunteers added so much to the visit- he showed us around - and showed us all sorts of interesting things. This is a nice, small town visit - and really worked out very well.
Interesting place loved
Nice monument. The library leaves alot to be desired. 90% of the library is devoted to local and county history and only a single large room in the back deals with President McKinley. I was disappointed in the lack of information, artifacts and the staff were less than engaging. The monument is impressive, but could use some weeding and landscaping around the property. As "Canton's favorite son" one would think that the community would either take better care of the place, or maybe sell it to the national parks system for a much needed upgrade.
The place is great for kids and adults alike. And, the admission cost is pretty cheap too! Lots of interesting things here and a great tribute to the late and great WM McKinley. Also check out the monument next door. Definetly recommend!
Great place!
A very specific account of the biography of William k. McKinney also how the people lived back in those days ....very remarkable. We had a great time and the staff were very friendly and professional.
Definitely a place for smaller kids but has some cool history moments for adults to enjoy. You have some downtime I would go. Great staff and the building is clean.
I had a blast there is a lot of things to do and have fun
Lovely place! Terrific place to take K-12 students for a field trip. Lots of history. Tons of science. Quaint yet interesting planetarium conducted by a humorous guide, Mister Nate. Thank you most kindly Sir! Be sure to have at least two hours to visit the museum. Add at least a half an hour to walk the steps up to see McKinley's Grave. We would like to visit again.
Love it...
Love this museum! Many things to see, from the dinosaurs and animals and science area downstairs, to the McKinley antiques and clothes. The costumes and hats through the years, to the street museums which is my favorite. The details of each room is fantastic, you can truly feel what it would be like to have lived in that time period! Loved the trains too. Planatariaum is great as well. Highly recommend this wonderful place, a gem in Canton Ohio!
My family from out of town enjoy this museum.
Interesting history of the lives of the McKinleys Their home is restored with historical accuracy, with some pieces being original to the family. The docent was friendly and knowledgeable. Good lesson.
Nice place to spend an afternoon with your kids.
Nice place as a whole. The memorial is beautiful and inside the museum is neat. Basically it is great for children and history fans. So many people say they expected there to be more football stuff in it, but ita not the football museum! The park and scenery are great too.
