Here you will be able to see the opinions of real people like you who know the products of Loveland Castle Museum (Museum) in Ohio.
Now this firm receives a score of 4.5 over 5 and this rating has been based on 1137 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is basically the best one, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the evaluation is very credible. If many people have bothered to rate when they are pleased with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Museum corresponds to the category of Museum.
Very knowledgeable attendant on duty. Really enjoyed the history and the grounds are beautiful! My family had a great time!
PERFECT FAMILY FUN! Every dream you or the kids or grandma had as a kid. Who doesn't want to visit a castle?
A great place to spend an hour or so exploring. For $5, it's a great value and the money goes for the upkeep and improvements. The grounds are very nice and had a lot of potential for improvement. I'd like to see roof access, but I suppose it's closed for a reason.
Very cool place and great admission price.
What a great discovery. The castle was still being worked on as the original owner had died. It's amazing to see what one person can accomplish. Something the whole family can enjoy from the little kids who wish to have their own castle to the adults who will enjoy the gardens.
Great place too visit..interesting story..the Knights are fun people. Restrooms are JobSiteJohnnies, better facilities would be appreciated!!
Hidden gem, $5 admission for a self guided tour. Very interesting story behind it. I'm sure we will be back!
My brother is a Knight there! I made a vampire movie there in 1974 with Count Baltes and friends from our media class! The owner Harry was a wonderful host and showed us the castle! It has a lot of wonderful history!
Excellent castle to learn about castle building history, and local historical lore.
Very interesting, will go back when temperature is not so hot.
Amazing place to visit. I remember going with my grandma as a little girl. I decided I'd take my children and husband and it was just as great as I remembered. A lot of history there. If you're in town, make sure you stop by. Take food to have a picnic.
Very small and not much to see. If you've ever been to anywhere in Europe this is a huge disappointment. Yes it's interesting that it was built and a lot of time and effort went into it, but that doesn't make it a good place to go see.
Uniquely Ohio but still a taste of the Old World.
This is historical location worth visiting. At this moment there is no handicap access but presently working on handicap access. Entry fee is $5.
Loved the historical views and the story of the fella who built it was awesome
I absolutely love this place. This is my favorite place in the world! The castle is on this hidden little road , surrounded by trees, next to a river. There are no other houses in sight. Coming here is like stepping back in time. . The landscape is gorgeous. The castle itself is a masterpiece. This castle was hand-built by a man named Harry Andrews, who became inspired after he traveled abroad while fighting in the war. Andrews used rocks he dragged from the nearby river, and homemade bricks. When you look closely you can actually see that the bricks are the shape of milk cartons which is what Andrews used to shape them. What makes the Loveland Castle even more interesting is it story. The fact that it was hand-built is amazing, and they say that the spirit of Andrews still haunts the castle. I personally love a good ghost story. This Castle is complete with everything a castle should have including a dungeon. I recommend to pack a lunch , and enjoy a picnic on the spacious beautiful grounds. You will not be disappointed by this unique destination.
Awesome place. Nicely maintain
I give this place a four-star review me and my girlfriend had a pretty good time it cost $5 to get in there is a lot to see there and you do get a guy that explains brief history of how it was made and the background history I'd recommend this for anyone
An awesome structure built by a man with amazing love and determination!
This is an inexpensive way to spend a day with the family exploring and learning. Its just amazing to roam around the grounds. Plant life is very ornate.
A cool little way to spent an afternoon out of the house. Lots to be read. Loved exploring the garden.
This place was really cool. Not what I was expecting thats for sure. It COSTS $5 to get in, not a lot but it adds up if you didn't know before hand. The guys seem nice but I didn't talk to them much however one of them plays MTG so you might have that in common if you wanna strike a conversation.
I really love these old castles and learning all of the back stories. It is steeped in history here and you can feel it in the air!
Well worth seeing. Truly what dreams are made of.
Wonderful experience for the family. Loved it. Will be back
My kids and I had a great time exploring the castle. It was really neat. They can probably do better with keeping the grounds trimmed, etc. We also bought food to picnic afterwards. It was a really great day!!
Always enjoy this quaint testament of a quiet man's dedicated life.
Interesting place, who knew there was a castle out here? Has vendors and gardens also.
An eclectic gem tucked away in Loveland! Fun place to visit & explore as a quaint castle & grounds. Be sure to ask lots of questions to get the best experience! Only portions are barrier-free.
A great day trip. I drove down with my wife and daughter from Columbus and we spent about an hour walking around and learning about the history and architecture of the castle. The grounds were also nice. It was not as big as I thought but still very much worth seeing.
Actually saw a news clip of one of best school friends from early childhood . It was an article about his mom making a flag for the Castle. I actually knew Harry Andrees and played chess and checkers with him. The castle is very impressive and awesome remembrance of my childhood.
It was closed when we got there but still an awesome sight to see!
Such a cool castle. Built by one man! Hold check it out!
Loved it. Great place for kids and adults.
It was a great place to visit. I was told that since I was a vet, I didnt have to pay. So I donated the cost to them for repairs and groundskeeping. I will definitely come back.
So very beautiful one man and others maked this castles from the rocks from the river they are still adding on .a must see
We enjoyed visiting this unique castle. Well worth the $5 to go see.
This was my second time being there this year and it was just as great as the first time! It's an amazing castle especially considering that only one man built it by hand. Also it is only 5 dollars to see the castle.
My dad knew the guy who primarily built this castle, and he took me to see it today. Absolutely loved it, though I wish some of the rooms weren't blocked off (I do understand that the roof had been leaking and they were doing work at some point). I also wish I could've gotten to meet the man myself. But, he died way before my birth. Anyway, 5 stars, overall a wonderful experience.
Beautiful place, amazing history, great collection of artifacts. But no working bathrooms, only porta potties. No snack bar so if you mean to stay for hours eat well prior to going.
Off the beaten path gardens and castle was fun to explore especially when you have young ones along. It is also close to a river that you can canoe to
I have loved this place since choldhood. It never looses its appeal. So grand and nostalgic. No place quite like it. Such a dream...and quite a remarkable story. Loooove the castle beyond words.
Our family visited this castle in May 2019 and it was very poor. The website makes it seem pretty and fabulous with upkeep. Unfortunately, we found it to be dirty, not kept up and very grungy. Many places are locked from viewing and those who invited us to the castle were nice, but not as professional as we would have thought. Not a place of recommendation to view or take time out to visit.
Was more interesting than what my 11 year old daughter thought it would be but not as nice as I had hoped. Not sure I would make the 5 hour trip again. Very interesting place and has a great deal of potential but I don't forsee any major improvements in the near future. Hope that there is but don't think they have the funding. Oh and make sure you use the bathroom before you get there. Also go on a cool day as there is no AC to be found lol truly authentic except for the electric. :)
Visited on a warm sunny Thursday in June 2019 with 17-month old. A commendable building and collection or swords and memorabilia, but the facility overall is pretty underwhelming as a tourist destination. There were only 20-30 people at any given time, which was nice. Have a 2-hour picnic and your if you're nearby, but not really with a special trip.
This place is amazing! The builder, Harry, is a true genius. We took the girl scout troop there for an overnight adventure. We were not disappointed!
Super fun for adults, and kids of all ages. It's a castle and the guy at the front starts you off with an explanation of it, then you wander at your leisure around the castle and gardens. It was very impressive. And the staff were all super friendly and loved to joke with you. Take your camera!
What a wonderful place. Everyone is so helpful. The gardens are beautiful
This place is super unique. A handbuilt castle...in Ohio?? The story is awesome and the castle is a great place to explore, with kids or even for adults. The guys running the place are usually very friendly and knowledgeable, sometimes they have been a bit cantankerous but that kind of fits.
An amazing story of one man's passion to build a castle using cardboard milk cartons as forms to mold concrete bricks. Begun in 1930 the Castle in its current state was completed in the late 1980's. Now, it is a great staycation option for kids/grandkids. The Knights of the Golden Trail who work there were informative and super friendly. Almost as impressive as the Castle are the surrounding grounds. You don't have to squint much to think you are in Europe. If you have never been here then do yourself a favor and visit - you will be happily surprised.
Great place to take your family for a neat little adventure
Wonderful full scale replica of a castle in England. Open for the public to wander through. And only $5 per guest with free parking. We carried in a lunch and had picnic on the grounds. Educational, interesting, and fun. A wonderful family outing
He made his own castle and he also did clocks. He had one that went backward! Sent us tripping! I purchased a Nancy Drew Mytery book the other day titled The Secret Of The Old Clock. I immediately remembered the clock in this castle the man had on the wall inside. The hands were going backward! The man that built the castle chuckled, we were all laughing we were young children with our mom & dad. Mom and Dad laughed too. There was a kind of magic in the air! I think I’m going to refer to this place as the MAGICAL LOVELAND CASTLE! THANKS. GOOD LUCK!
The history of the place is very interesting. Lot of cool stuff
If you want a great your guided asked for sir Dave Hope
I really like this place, I've been going since I was a kid and they have expanded a few areas a little bit, but not much has changed. There are a few spots that really need some attention, but being a museum to the structure itself I tend to flip-flop between if letting it decay slightly is actually the goal or a hindrance. Fun little stop to visit, it is a legitimate little castle. Has a large garden if it is the season. The drive down the hill to get to it is also part of the fun.
Great place for pictures and just a cool spot to visit. No frills as far as touristy gift shops etc., which was nice.
This place is so cool! Highly recommend stopping buy! Stopping to watch the provided information video, it's a great way to get some additional insight into the builder. It is hard to if not impossible to navigate inside the castle if you are in a wheelchair or need assistance walking as the stairs are narrow and steep or spiraled. There is a Gaol (Jail) area with a spooky (what looks like a petrified skeleton inside) that seriously scared some little kids. Look inside yourself first before letting the littles look. It might be too much for some. The gardens are so pretty and the staff is very informative and engaging. I even spoke with someone that has lived in Loveland their whole lives, had never before visited, and after that visit was determined to make it a regular occurrence because they enjoyed it so much.
Neat and eclectic. Doesn't take long to go through. Adults and small kids will have fun - picnic places and Miami River. Older kids and teens...might be bored.
Impressive hand built castle that is good diversion for history buffs. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly.
I have ALWAYS enjoyed going here I finally got to bring my fiance Randy here we both love history and so impressive how this man spent his life building the castle and his memory will remain on
This is a must see. We have planned for a month to make the three hour drive to see this beautiful castle. We were there first thing this morning! It did not dissapoint. It is a dreadfully rainy dreary day today, that only added to the ambiance of this magnificent structure. The craftsmanship is spellbinding. The arches will transport you back in time almost immediately. The gardens are breathtaking as is the view from the balcony. The story of this magnificent structure is equally beautiful and impressive. I am grateful to those that greeted us today, the caretakers that allow us to wander and wonder freely through this amazing architectural masterpiece. To touch and feel and sense all the beauty this castle exudes. A must see. Thank you!!
If you ever thought about going here definitely go. It's amazing to talk to some of the knights (yes actual knights) and see the history of this castle. It's going to be even more worth it after some of the additions they have in mind for it. Awesome visit!
It took the owner over 50 years to complete, he built it on his own. The grounds are beautiful. His story is unique and a part of history.
The grounds are beautiful. The tour of ther interior of the castle is short but awe inspiring
Such an amazing experience. The small infornational session at the entrance was very informative and well educated on all aspect of the castle. Definatly worth the 5hr drive to visit.
This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable of the history. Would definitely visit again!
The story is interesting but the castle and grounds are not kept up.
Great place for kids and adults of all ages has awsome views and history.
Nice experience for the kids and family.
Interesting story on how this place came to be. It only takes an hour or so to go through it.
Cool history! Hidden gem in Cincinnati!
Amazing he built it by himself.
It’s a little claustrophobic and a little crowded, but who can resist touring a castle? Unique experience. The people working there are passionate about it and can answer any question. Also, the grounds are gorgeous.
This is a fantastic tourist spot. The history of thr place is quite fascinating and it's a little off the beaten path. We went during the week and it wasn't very busy. I would recommend checking this place out, if you're in the Cincinnati area.
Great place great history staff was very knowledgeable and polite
This place is a really cool place to visit, @ 5$ per adult, it's worth the trip. You have members of the Knights of the Golden Trail who keep this place going, and are very knowledgeable of its history.
We really enjoyed our visit to the castle. The knights have done an amazing job. I'm so impressed with this place. This is the kind of place that makes travel worth the travel.
A prime example of what hard work and dedication can accomplish. Worth the trip with the children.
This place is quirky and cool. Check it out
Truly an amazing experience! Incredible to see all of the work and thought that went into making this castle. Hearing the stories told by the informed guides is worth the price of admission. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to watch this castle being built. All of the intricate details you learn about the castle and the life of Henry makes the trip worth it. Definitely visit if you're in the area! And ask the guide lots of questions!
Fantastic castle, best place to visit with kids. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something to do for a couple hours!!!
It was very interesting to see a place built stone by stone by one man over several years for a club/group he loved.
Absolutely gorgeous. Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Theres a lot of stuff to look at and explore through and there pictures videos and memorabilia yo look at as well as the castle. 100% loved it and would go again! (Also family friendly). Only complaint is i dont think there was a bathroom
I find castles very interesting but there's not many to see. First one I've seen and very interesting. Well worth price of admission.
My family and I love going here. We go here every year for an Easter tradition and have been going here for the last 6 years. If you haven't been, you should check it out! You will love it!!!
Very unusual place to visit, interesting local history tied to a one of a kind structure
Who doesn't want to visit a castle? I visited a few times when I was very young and decided to take my child recently. Many parts were closed off, however there is still plenty to see. The Dungeon was disappointing (only a small area was open with the other doors locked). The second floor had more rooms available with documents, swords, daggers, and armor available to view as well as a small balcony that overlooks the river. There is a stairway to a viewing area of the roof that only a few people can see at a time. Please wait until other people finish and are down before climbing. All of the stairs are narrow and steep. Outside, the garden has multiple levels with hidden nooks for sitting in the shade. My visit took place on a fairly warm day and it was humid inside. This is a castle (with no A/C).
This is a gem in the heart of Loveland Ohio. The history behind the castle is very interesting. You are allowed to venture inside the building during open hours and explore the many rooms. It is located next to the river and the gardens are well maintained and taken care of beautifully. It is a fun family day trip. Great place to take pictures. Excellent place to volunteer. Cool place to stop to have a picnic and spend a day in Loveland.
Was a neat place seeing how he build it by hand and all the different stone people brought him over the years and he incorporated in the castle.
Beautiful place to go and see. Very friendly staff.
An awesome place, built by an amazing man I had the honor to meet along with my dad when I was a young man. A must see if ever near! A place for the whole family to see and explore, for that knight or princess that lives in every boy and girl. - R. Kent Abbott
What an amazing story about a local hero. Be sure to watch the looped videos about the creator of the castle. Amazing! Come support your homegrown history. $5 a person is well worth it. Buy a tshirt... proceeds go back into the castle.
Very nice place to visit and adventure. I would recommend this place to everyone because there really is something for everyone. Built in 1930 or at least started because they are still going is an amazing castle where you can go almost everywhere in the castle and out. The garden is really beautiful and full of interesting finds. Down below the castle and garden is also a river where we watched some kayakers having having a picnic. Great place to bring kids in my opinion and I would definitely go again.
Haven't been here since 8th grade. Totally forgot how cool it was!
Its got amazing service i might do some volunteer hours there
Awesome castle with alot of cool history. Great garden scenery for taking pictures. Also Sir Dave who was collecting the tickets was great at giving us a detailed history of the castle.
They worked hard to build the castle they carried rocks from all over they used there man power they didnt have tools like they do today its beautiful i appreciate it the time and effort they put in to it
Not worth it! They charge u just take a photo outside the castle with your own cell phone! Money hungry Eh?!
I saw this castle 30 years ago and again this past week. Always love coming here
I love the Loveland Castle. It's one the neatest things to do in the Cincinnati area. I'd gladly pay the $5 admission anytime.
Cute place! A must visit if you are in Cincinnati area. Fun scary drive down to castle, polite staff with little interaction on this Monday. Roamed their small grounds. The history was really interesting. Generally fun to walk around a true scale replica of a keep (?). Apparently there are secret doors and those stairs were rough. Food view from second view out over the grounds.
This place is so awesome to see, and the story behind it and the man who built it is so interesting! $5 for a tour is definitely well worth it, in my opinion!
Went here with hubby and our 7 yr old son. We all loved it--such an amazing place, cannot believe the effort made to build this place! One thing to "know before you go": the road to access this is VERY steep and winding (but not terribly long); make sure you have good brakes!
This place was fun! Loved the gardens. There are folks willing to talk to you all about the history of the place. Nice afternoon getaway!
When I saw it I didn't expect a lot but got a lot more than I expected when I went inside. (If that makes sense) We were very pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth the $5 admission price.
We had a excellent time ! Great spot to take the family
Unique hand-built castle in Ohio! The entire grounds has a wonderful medieval feel to the place, including the stepped hillside gardens. The curators are friendly and knowledgeable. Includes sword room, domed bedroom, library, armor room, among other areas. No sir conditioning, so the upper floors can get we're warm, and the narrow spiraling stone stairs and passages make for a challenge when there are a lot of visitors. Overall, a reasonably priced and fascinating attraction that's worth seeing!
We really enjoyed coming here for a smallish trip with the family. Unique story and interestingly hidden local gem. I will admit that the story sounds a little sketchy-sketch... an unmarried older man hanging out in the woods with young boys and building them a castle to use after "knighting" them all. Nothing was ever mentioned about any funny-business, but a critical eye might walk away with some questions.
We loved visiting Loveland Castle and learning the unique history of its creation. The grounds are breathtaking and my kids wanted their own castle after our visit.
The castle is interesting and the landscaping was beautiful. It's a quick visit, the castle is not very large and the roof and a few rooms are closed off. I recommend bringing a picnic lunch to help fill the time, they have plenty of outdoor seating.
Interesting. Manmade castle near Miami river. Steep road to drive down. You have to use same road to come back up.
Friendly staff and amazing castle.
Beautiful relaxing afternoon touring the castle and grounds
Cool to imagine that one man built this. But when you're at a place like this, ask questions. We heard more details about the place and it's history from some of the Knights of the Golden Trail that were there as hosts to the castle. We asked about the design and then heard about its namesake in France and tidbits even surrounding the roofing repair compound and how one of the chemist's behind that compound actually studied near the original Chateau de Laroche. We got to hear how Mr. Andrews (the builder) used to germinate tomatoes inside of potatoes during the winter months, then planting the whole thing in the spring to have a potato-tomato plant, which provided potatoes underground and tomatoes above. A neat little visit off the beaten path.
I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. It is not just another castle is a castle built pretty much in its totally by just one man(95%).
It was about to close but we were allowed to enter to see as much as possible and what we were able to see was awesome. Will make another trip so we can enjoy it and learn about it.
At only $5 per adult, this castle and courtyard is a photographer's wet dream. The architecture is incredible considering how the materials were acquired and how construction began. There are many artifacts to look at and many places to explore. Perfect place to take your girlfriend for a romantic summer outing for very little money
Very cool place to visit and explore. Definitely worth checking out at least once, preferably on a spring or fall day. Summer or winter and it's too hot or too cold.
I have been going to the castle since I was little. My family lives in Oklahoma and everytime we come to Ohio to visit family I go to the castle. Today was the first time I took my kids to see it. My daughter thought it was amazing. It's a great educational opportunity as well.
Super cool place. Lots of fun to explore the floors of this incredible castle!
Amazing castle, history and information. Highly recommend.
Wow. Loved it. Great history. Kids love it too. Cost 5.00 a person.
Great castle with a cool history!! Can be hot in summertime! Might want to bring a personal fan!
How could the story of a man being inspired to build his own castle in Southern Ohio NOT be just incredible and an absolutely awesome destination to explore! So yes..if you happen to be on the lookout for a fun day adventure or are passing through near to Loveland..set aside a couple of hours and stop in to Loveland Castle Museum..no we're not in Europe, but this is as good as it gets on this side of the pond folks and I promise you wont even be close to disappointed!! Insanely interesting history and story of how it came to exist and staffed by truly gracious and friendly caretakers! My family and I had one of the best (if not THE best) sunday fundays we've had in a very long time! Big thanks to everyone there for your efforts, makes it that much more special of a place to visit!!
Fantastic castle! Take the time to read everything posted and watch the TV videos, so much to this place!
The castle is an incredible place all built by one man it is exciting for kids, very young up through the elderly. enjoy the day take a look and see if you can't find the secret passage that leads out to the garden.... You can ask, but they wont tell you.
Truly a must see! There is so much history there you will be amazed. Beautiful land. Be careful coming down the road. Few steep turns down the hill
