Great Place. A Must See!
Great place for aviation history.
This museum is a Class Act!!
Fun for the whole family!
what a great vintage venue for a swing dance party!
Great place to visit! Went to kill some time while we were staying in Sandusky. Has a lot of cool planes and aviation memoribilia type stuff. I thought the coolest thing was that all the vehicles are worked on and put in working condition! Very interesting
Great
Extremely interesting, learned alot, makes you want to take flight and gain your wings!
Lots of cool planes. Lots of war stuff, history buffs will love this place!
We got there to late to go up but everything else was great!
Awesome
Such a cool place to fly and visit
Great little aviation museum. Fun to see all the projects in the works.
Very nice place to visit.
Your Museum is first rate. Love the Tri Motor.
I really liked all the planes that we seen. And History of all the different planes and stories and the people..
If there is a wait, it goes quickly; food is amazing, good portions, great prices, wonderful service for Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Have been coming here since it opened. Everyone we send here has same views and are repeat customers as we are!
A great “living museum” of aviation and history of the Lake Erie Islands! The 50’s era Tin Goose Diner is the most immaculately clean restaurant I’ve been in, and serves great food with a view of the runway! Call ahead to see if the Ford Tri-motor is there, and maybe to find out what special restoration activities you might take part in. This is a great “one tank trip” for the family.
If you like planes, this is a great local museum. My favorite is the Tun Goose Diner. This is an old 50’s Diner that serves really good food at a good price. If the museum is not your thing, the Diner alone is worth the visit.
Nice facility about everything aviation with a mix of antique vehicles. My favorite was the Tin Goose restaurant with good food, reasonable prices and aviation atmosphere. Located at the airfield.
excellent place to take the kids very interesting Boys loved it
I'm not sure if it was the time of the year but there is a lot of unexplained clutter throughout and everything is packed in with limited signage. Lots of cool things to see tho and the flying planes are in amazing shape. It feels like right now you are just touring the workshop for what will be a much larger museum some day. Seeing the island airlines ford trimotor, even in stripped down shape was kinda cool for a kid who saw this plane flying so many years ago! There is no signage but it looks like the museum has a second vosper boat in the lot when they finish restoring the first. I hope they might restore this as a vosper boat and not as a stand in elco as the other! Worth your time, someday this place will be even more amazing!
Good food.
Best be 25 exhibit I've seen
Great Island Airway historical display featuring the Ford Trimotor airplane. Local military history with static displays in hangar.
Very unique with a variety of artifacts
Nice little museum a lot of WW1 and WW2 artefacts. Super interesting to learn about the Tim Goose and how it opened up the Lake Islands for tourism and supplies.
It's kind of funny that they call it an aviation museum. It was mostly war vehicles and boats, lol! Only a handful of planes. However, the Goodyear blimp bus & retro camper were cool. Unfortunately, many of the interesting items on display were not even labeled so you didn't really learn anything. For example: a smaller version of an old fire truck that said "Oz" on it. Was it used in the movie in 1939. Who knows???
This is a fine, small museum of particular interest to World War 2 aviation buffs. Many model aircraft are on display along with other authentic items of interest. The centerpiece of the collection is a magnificently restored (flyable) B-25J Mitchell Bomber, "Georgie's Girl," we found parked in the museum's cluttered but immaculate hangar. Visitors can get up close to see but not touch the airplane. The museum is also home to the Tri-Motor Heritage Foundation's restoration project and many displays addressing the history of the Ford Tri-Motor. Sharing the hangar with the B-25 was a Tri-Motor stripped to its shining metal skeleton, undergoing a loving rebuild. The museum's small diner was also bright, clean, and inviting offering clear views of the adjacent airport and its activities. Admission is by donation and the minimum $5 requested is fair for all -- give them more to support their work!
Good local interest and WWII displays.
Amazing. Worth stopping. The diner has great food.
They have some really nice pieces to see but there's no interactive pieces and there's not really a lot there.
Very nice new years eve party
Nice for aviation history buffs. I loved it. And the diner had great food at very reasonable prices. I will be back.
Staff were awesome! Incredible history! Absolutely loved it!
I was really very very suprised..!..2 PT boats..one being rebuilt...the other covered outside...lots of military vehicles..equipment..other aircraft in addition to a ford tri-Motor being restored..a navy WW II.Torpedo bomber..a WW II B -25 .....Disney land for older kids !!
Nice, very interesting
Stopped by Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton, Ohio. My family and I had a great time. Plenty of people willing to answer questions about the exhibits. The planes, trucks, equipment and exhibits were excellent! I personally wanted to visit to see the progress of the restoration of the PT Boat 728 "Thomcat". The Museum is planning on making it a fully functioning PT boat to eventually allow the public to get rides on it. They have an authentic 1950's style diner connected right to the museum the Tin Goose Diner. We had lunch right there and the food was great! I highly recommend a visit if you plan on being anywhere near Port Clinton!
A lot of the items at this Museum reminded me of things my father used to own he also was an aircraft mechanic and spoke about the engines that are on display I enjoyed it
Awesome museum. Worth the time to take the tour.
Awesome place
Awesome place, whole bunch of different vintage aircrafts. Lot of information
Exceeded expectations. History and aviation buffs alike will find a number of exhibits fascinating. The museum is spread out into 2 large hangars physically separated requiring walking outdoors.
So many great things to see if you appreciate anything airplane or military related. Can't wait to go back.
Went to the Tin Goose restaurant...very good!
Price is good but not a lot to see.
Excellent museum - very good docent!
Nice restorations, even shop where it is inprogress, reasonable price
Fortitude.
Love the TBM Avenger, and B-25.
great place dedicated to our heroes
Great museum, friendly staff
We always enjoy our food and watching the planes and helicopters land! Love the old dinner feel!
Great place to visit. Always a friendly staff.
Very clean & very knowledgable Tour guides ❤
Great local treasure. Attention to detail of artifacts is impressive. Looking forward to returning and visiting the diner.
Awesome place, go their for craft and art shows!!
Amazing place
We went in July, to the museum and the diner we loved it. My grandson LOVES planes and history so he was in heaven. We plan on going back probably next year. The staff is amazing also!! They are the best. Of course we hit the gift shop they have so much merchandise it was hard to decide what to get. lol I will certainly recommend this museum to everyone.
Nice place worth a visit.
Great museum and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable! The Tin Goose has good food also!!
We stopped off to the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton, since my wife and I love history, especially military and aviation history. This place was great. I absolutely loved the Hogan's Heroes display, of original costumes and props. There's a looping video about Milton Hershberger and his business flying Ford Tri motor planes. It was well worth the time to sit-n-watch. The museum had had an event going on so most of their aircraft were stored other places. However, what was on exhibit, was pretty cool. The B25 and the collection of Jeeps were my favorite. I highly recommend going to the museum if you are in the Port Clinton area. Not CCW friendly
Excellent place to visit.
Awesome smaller aviation museum. I recommend going if you're in the area
I love this place! Every weekend they have old planes come in and it’s just a great time.
Awesome place
A bit pricey, but neat.
Great place, doing some great rebuilds there. Have a cool display, would highly recommend this museum.
Very nice
Neat place to see local and military history!
Small but impressive collection. Love to support museums that restore and fly (or drive) their collections.
Great museum. Diner has great food
Just stopped by to set up for a craft show on Sunday December 9. Come join us.
Learn some things. Very interesting
This was our first time here it was neat, not a lot of planes but other cool airplane related stuff
Admission is too expensive. Almost nothing to do or see. Barely anything associated with aviation.
A must visit.
Went for a craft show. It was very small and not much in the way of actual crafts.
So cool
it is an Awesome...aviation, transportation, and just plain cool stuff museum....well worth the vis
Had breakfast at the Tin Goose Diner. Excellent food and service. Great view of the airfield and attached to the museum. This is a neat place.
Fantastic museum. Wish I had more time to enjoy it.
Thank you ,My father the veteran and husband enjoyed the Huey helicopter rides
Great museum, very interesting..also good food at tin goose dinner...real shiny stainless steel diner...have the home fries or onion rings, great burgers too
Really neat place. Had a guy give us a tour and told us all kind of stories!
Great little museum. Exceeded expectations.
Very cool place has very awesome displays of old-time war vehicles and a Goodyear bus they got on display that used to tour with the blimp is awesome
Good old planes and good cars very authentic.
Great
Nice place to go for lunch and they have a lot of old things to look at
Been to the area many times, never knew it was there. Really cool for aviation crazy people, and a wonderful gift shop full of everything retro !!
The diner is fantastic
What an amazing place to enjoy the day
Needs to have stuff more closer so you can view them but still cool place
This is a great aviation museum with many events throughout the year. The diner here is also a great place to eat with great American food and some meals even being served on army trays!
Fantastic restoration of an Avenger. Multiple other aircraft and military vehicles plus the history of Lake Erie islands airline.
Nice place
Bit underwhelming, but can be okau for kids or anyone interested in airplanes
Great place to stop, the staff was just amazing. Everyone went out of there way to answer any questions you had.
Awesome place to visit.
We were there for a Christmas craft show which was outstanding. My girlfriend and go to the diner frequently the food is outstanding . Love when plane are taking off and landing
Put this on your to do list. Don't miss it
For the price and friendly staff, it was a great couple hours spent! I would suggest only bring "double digit" aged kids (10 or older), as it is a "look-don't touch" museum. A lot to look at and a great old style diner right next to the runway. A good sized burger and chips was 5.75 (couldn't beat the price)! Restrooms we're very clean and well kept throughout!
We thoroughly enjoyed walking through this museum. Worth the money and loved the well displayed exhibits. I do believe my hubby may want to come back to volunteer next year restoring a plane. Lol come out and support the efforts of this museum.
Good museum to visit while in the area. Rides on vintage aircraft available during the spring and summer. Enjoyed the Ford trimotor flight.
Great unique museum. If you enjoy aviation history, this is a super stop for you!
This is Port Clinton's best kept secret. The displays they have are first class and the artisans restoring an actual Ford Tri-motor AND a PT boat are incredible. This is a must see museum.
Awsom time
Great museum featuring military and civilian aircraft. Local history is spotlighted with the Ford Tri-Motor restoration. Flights on an operational Tri-Motor are available a few weeks throughout the year - beautiful view of the islands from a nearly hundred year old plane. Grab a bite to eat in the restored 1950s diner attached to the museum when you're done!
Keeping history alive
From flying planes to a restoration project you can watch happen, this place is a wonderful repository of aviation, military and local history. Add in a top-notch diner and an active airport right there, and it's a combo well worth a return visit, and another ...
Very nice
Will always support an aviation museum but honestly there's not much to see here. Would be a lot of fun to actually fly in and grab a meal at the dinner but not much here. Still get out and support these people preserving awesome pieces of history like this one!
Very knowledgeable people, willing to share their expert information on the exhibits there.
Wow the planes and vehicles
My husband, my brother, and I all agree: The Liberty Aviation Museum exceeded our already positive expectations. After reading all of the five star reviews, we were prepared to spend at least an hour there. We ended up spending nearly two full hours at the museum because of all of the interesting exhibits and the friendly staff who shared additional information about the planes, tanks, boats, and cars. What a terrific array of historical vehicles and artifacts, both American and foreign! All three of us enjoyed the "Hogan's Heroes" display since it brought back fond memories of the popular 1965-1971 television series. We learned so much. We are still talking about our afternoon at the museum four days later! The price of admission is more than reasonable. Would I go back again? Definitely! Two thumbs up for this very special museum!!!
Not only did we get a group discount we got our own personal tour guide who was very knowledgeable and awesome so many different things to see from history I highly recommend if you are in the area. We took back memories and knowledge of a lifetime with us.
Very clean and spacious. A great place to visit!
A wonderful mix of flying and driving machines with knowledgeable staff. Admission price is worth the trip back in time. The Tin Goose Diner has really good food, large portions at a reasonable price.
Really impressive displays. Food excellent.
Nice museum everything from planes to antique cars and fire engines. You can see a WW II PT boat being restored . Friendly, helpful staff.
Great collection and a surprising destination when visiting the islands. Love the restoration work going on.
Got my books I ordered.
Great place
It was awesome!
It's clean, inexpensive museum & diner. People & food are great!
Nice collection of WWII military equipment plus a Ford Trimotor under construction.
Has displays of local history and of WW2. My kids lovedit.
Love the food, service, atmosphere and overall experience from the hostesses to waitresses. Our absolute favorite breakfast restaurant on the whole peninsula! We love all of the museum events and the continuous growth of new events. Keep up the fantastic work!
Very friendly staff, delicious food at reasonable prices at there diner and overall a great experience! It was neat to see and hear about all of the history in the Museum. I would definitely love to come back in the near future!!
There was a comadoor ball it was a great time
Amazing air plans and a good food to
Absolutely fantastic place to visit! Staff is extremely friendly and the tin goose is an absolutely wonderful place to eat!!!
I love it
Have ridden a Tin Goose in 1940, 1941, 1942 and yesterday (9/7/19). A little freaky at first because I've had a real balance problem since an illness I was 6, but a real blast. Takes off fast, must be more powerful engines now, fantastic view. If there was 6 stars it would get that.
Great place to visit. Been to several events here and they are well organized and everyone always has a great time!
Liked the place more war items than aircraft than I was thinking. Staff and workers talked and enjoyed myself
Incredible little gem! We are so happy that we found this place. The staff was so helpful to answer any questions that we had!!
Museum was well worth our time and our guide was very informative. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for the diner but it must be good because it was busy.
A great place to visit
A really interesting museum, with an outstanding collection of aircraft, military vehicles, artifacts and even TWO WW2 torpedo boats. I will return at some point... Didn't have enough time on my trip to do this place justice.
It's a good time eat at the dinner.
Outstanding location and collection.
Terrific place.. good job with the historical stuff...
Such a great place and full of history. Staff is phenomenal and awesome.
Stopped here for food (which was delicious!) but was extremely impressed by the hospitality and great exhibits in the museum. VERY FRIENDLY staff and will plan to stop back again soon for food and a lesson in history
Nice collection. Good luck with the Tin Goose build.
It was awesome I really think everything there was really cool, I enjoyed it
This place was really interesting and had a lot of cool history
Staff goes 110% to answer questions.
A great little roadside stop on our journey across the country
Northcoast's Hidden treasure!!!
Had a great time! Will def be back!
Very cool place, learned a lot of stuff. Great diner, not only planes there but also boats like the pt boat. They have two of them and there are only 5 in existence!
Wonderful place, can not wait to return! We traveled an hour to visit this museum. Our three year old son is obsessed with airplanes so we thought this would be a good Saturday day trip. We arrived and it was closed. A kind man that was at the museum shoveling snow kindly invited us in and showed us around one is the hangars. He was full of knowledge and excitement, couldn’t have asked for a better blessing that day. We are looking forward to our next visit. This museum has done an outstanding job restoring their planes and with keeping such a beautiful establishment for the displays of these planes. Our next visit will included eating at the diner.
Great museum really interesting to see the planes, military, and Titanic items
Near small local airport, some items in museum donated by locals but noted by others.the growth and history surrounding development of airport is not provided. But the place it's self is very nice and there is a small cafe on property. Large gatherings during airshows. And history of some aircrafts available.
We visited today for the first time looking for some extra stuff to do while on vacation. There was so much to see. A great place to visit if you love planes or WWII. Extremely friendly staff. Also a great retro restaurant attached, Tin Goose Diner, would recommend visiting as well because the food was delicious.
